Actually, the OTA is pushing X even for unlocked phones on Verizon.
I bought my phone from Google but am on Verizon, the OTA was to X.

Is Rogers One X exactly the same as AT&T One X?

Newbie question here before I start:
Is Rogers One X exactly the same as AT&T One X? I mean,do they have exactly the same hardware?
I received a new Rogers One X but I'll be using it on AT&T network, my understanding is that AT&T One X ROMs can be flashed to the Rogers One X and vice versa, right?
Yes, if you super CID you will be able to flash anything meant for an AT&T phone. (Roms and RUUs) The only hardware diference is that the rogers phone has an HTC logo not an AT&T logo at the top. I'm pretty sure you will have to unlock it to use it on AT&T though.
Great, thanks!
Also unlike the AT&T one, the bootloader on Rogers One X is unlockable, right?

Yes, it can be bootloader unlocked through HTC Dev. I am not sure about SIM unlocked though, you will need that in order to use the AT&T network.
Thanks. Yes I understand that, I received the unlock code along with the new phone, and I've already (SIM) unlocked the phone.

How does this new OTA affect rooting a new phone?

I am going to be getting an AT&T One X today and was planning on rooting and unlocking it as soon as I got it. How does the new OTA affect that? I saw some people mentioning AT&T might have blocked the exploit, but no one confirmed. I can't wait to get this phone!!
If your phone comes with the new 2.20 firmware it can't be rooted yet. I haven't seen whether the 1.85 exploit still works or not.

It basically c-blocks the exploit as well.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think we've gotten a leak for 4.1 yet. I think it was just ported from the international One X of the Evo 4G LTE.

Well it sucks to be with AT&T then. But One XL has already got Sense 4.1
You linked to the T-Mobile One S update not a AT&T one. Perhaps all your delays are AT&T?

Who cares about Sense 4.1. The One S update for T-Mo is still Android 4.0.4 which we already have. I want Android 4.1 (which comes with Sense 4.5). Skip this Sense 4.1 BS. If AT&T does release this Sense 4.1 update, it means we will not get next real update anytime soon. So, it is actually good news for AT&T users.

If they plugged up the hboot holes like they did on the One X, I would absolutely tell her not to update.
We might be getting something soon since developing sense takes a while (Im assuming). Maybe they've been working on it for a while now? I just want jellybean to find an exploit.
My theory with our new hboot was to stop dev for the iphone 5 release and to push the sgs3, since apple, samsung and at&t are in bed together all the time.
The decent thing to do and probably what will happen is the next real update we get will have relaxed hboot.
Are any other htc phones in the same hboot situation?
All hboots have been equal for all regions based on Rom release date. Eg all roms from 2.20 era have hboot 1.14 with exact same limits.
Radio, dsp, WiFi and the Roms themself all basically are just the same progression of the same thing. No region has special treatment they all just periodically are getting similar updates. Some carriers are holding some updates up, eg Telstra delayed their 4.0.4 update by 2 weeks(2 weeks ago, it should be out this week)
Only difference for all other regions is HTC offer unlock tokens for bootloader.

I read on the one s forums that carrier updates are actually pushed out by HTC, not the carrier. It's based on the cid of the phone, not what SIM card you have in it.

4.4.4 root?

Hwy guys. I am new to the htc scene and I was wondering if there is a root for the latest 4.4.4 update? Do I have to go threw htcdev? Any help would be appreciate it. Thanks!

If you're on Verizon htc one or one m8, htcdev is useless.... Big red Locked it down so it won't work on Verizon... Sunshine ($25) works up to 4.4.3, but so far afaik, not 4.4.4 yet

Exactly and we have the greedy you know whats at verizon to thank for that. All the other carriers allow htc dev but oh no not the V that should be a bad word lol.
Folks; please check the boards. This is covered in other threads. Jcase reported that he hopes to have Sunshine 3.0 out in January. Until then, unless someone else figures out an exploit for 4.4.4, or Big Red decides to permit bootloader unlock, you'll have to run stock for a bit longer.
