Hi all,
Does anyone know if it's possible to get the HD icon to show on the Pixel dialer when making an HD voice call?
I had this on my S7 and I was hoping there'd be a way to get it back on the Pixel.
Thanks in advance

I just checked. I am on Verizon and I get the HD voice call symbol only if the other person has HD voice enabled. For example, I set up my mother's android phone, so I know it works. I just called her to double check. Haha. But with the Pixel, you have to enable HD voice to get it to work.

Thanks for the reply! I do "get" HD calls, they definitely sound HD and the icon shows for the other person I'm calling, I just don't see the icon.
I have no option for HD voice, but it appears to be on anyway, just the icon seems to be hidden or something...
The icon should be there

I am personally on the Verizon network with a Google Store phone.
You have to add HD Voice from within your VZW account page online. Once you login, look for APPS and Products. you'll be taken to a landing page with different options, both paid and free. the HD voice should be under free and you simply click to add to your specific line. Then, with the phone settings as mentioned above, you should have HD on calls where others have the similar capability.
Since I live in Germany and I don't have Verizon as my provider this is impossible ithink
It is my understanding, the HD symbol only shows up once the call connects, but I do see the video call icon in the dialer for a person who I know has HD calling.

You beat me to it. I am not positive but you can try the my Verizon app too. You should be able to activate it there.
I'm in the UK on EE so all of that stuff is automatically enabled

Mine shows "HD" during the call, in the dailer app.
Just wondering if anyone else is having (or not having) this issue with the HD voice icon.
I've got everything enabled on my account/phone, and calling my wife's iPhone *sounds* HD, but I'm not seeing the icon.

I don't have a screen shot but my VZW Pixel dialer says HD during a call to another VZW HD capable device.

Outbound calls to Verizon folks don't trigger HD voice but inbound calls trigger it. Try having someone call you and report the results.

Mine still isn't doing this, asked Google about it and they had no idea. If someone did have a screenshot of the icon I could use to compare to Google that might be very useful
It's right next to the counter for call minutes... This is from pixel 7.1.1 to iPhone 7 both on Verizon... Check that your apps are up to date ... I remember dialer was updated recently

On my N1, I used vrecorder and when I had the phone call on speaker phone it recorded fine. The widget worked well. Vrecorder does not show up in the market for me with the NS. Anyone know a good app to use? Everything I tried does not work.
Anyone?

vrecorder must be a protected app. It should show once Google fixes the Market to recognize our phones.
Meanwhile, if you're rooted, there are ways to change the build.prop file to make them show for you. I'll leave that for other threads, where it's well explained and easily found with the search.
I don't have a specific app recommendation for you, though.
Vrecorder shows up in the market now. It doesn't record calls good though. I think the Nexus One recorder calls better while on speaker phone because there was a second Michael near the speaker. While on speaker phone with the Nexus S and recording, you can't hear the other end when you play the recording.

One-way recording
Before, when I was using Galaxy S, it was possible to record during a call.
But it was only possible one-way recording, that means, only my voice.
Now, with my Nexus S, it is not possible to record at all during a call.
There is no sound.
Anyone know my?
Using app "Voice recorder" and "Note everything"
Can any one advise this as its not listen in the 3G Specs..
By default no, but there has been talks about possibly getting it to work and a lot of people have success getting Line2 (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.toktumi.line2&feature=search_result) to work on it but requires you to even find the APK somewhere or download it on another android phone and copy the APK file off it.
I am looking for a core 2 Andriod 3.0 with at least a 7.1 or 10.1 screen...
Have to be able to make call.
Any recommendations..
I don't think you're going to find that anywhere.
Good luck with that, last I checked there were no tablets out there (at least in terms of Android 3.0+) that will allow you to make phone calls with them unless you use Skype (or mod it to allow making phone calls nativity.
I have heard that Samsung Galaxy Tab does allow you to make phone calls but I haven't tested myself and don't know if the newer Tab 10.1 (not sure if it's out yet or not) will support the phone features either since the Tab 10.1 will have 3.0.
I'm sure other members on this forums will step in to correct me if I'm wrong at anything I've said here but this is what I've saw so far.
I had some limited success with nettalk and my Google Talk phone number. Could connect with my home phone but my husband said it was very echo-y. I'm wifi only so it can be done. I'm going to try Line 2.
GrooVe IP works
i downloaded groove IP from the market tonite and it seems to work fine, it uses your Google voice number. No monthly fee like Line 2

you have to be logged out of Google talk on your xoom. Also, make sure that in your gv settings you have it set to google chat rather than your mobile number. Not sure if that made any sense, but they explain it step by step in the help section.
is that video calling or just voice?

How can I get the google chat to show up rather then the mobile number because I do not have that option. The only options I see are my mobile number and add this phone, nothing else. I can make calls with excellent quality on both ends but cannot get any calls on my Xoom because of this. What am I doing wrong?

Not really sure. When I go to google voice on my browser and then click on the setting tab in upper right corner and then choose voice settings, I can then click on the phones tab, that is where I am able to choose google chat.

Dang... I just remembered a long time ago I deleted the google chat from my registered phones list because I didn't think I would ever need to use it. So that would mean I would have to add it back, but... yeah. If I try to add another phone it gives me the name to choose and I need to set a number for it, and I have no idea what the number would be for google chat. Thanks for the quick responses though! I'll try and figure out what to do next. And I have 2 nice bluetooth headsets and they do work great!

The legacy Galaxy Tab does let you use a GSM sim card and allow one to make phone calls as well as access EDGE/3G data...i helped a friend set up his tab a couple of weeks ago and can confirm this....im located in Mumbai, India...and the versions available here do allow the ability to also use it as a phone..

i believe its the kernel that is stopping it from possible.
at the momenet, honeycomb is designed to be a tablet OS, hence it didn't include the Phone's feature in the system.
for galaxy tab, (the older one), it running on Gingerbread which a Phone OS, hence it can be easily enable the phone feature.
i believe we need to wait till Ice Cream where it unite Gingerbread and Honeycomb, so that it has the phone's feature in the system and can be enabled easily.
Hey All
Just thought I'd add to this old topic. I have an Australian 3G Xoom, on the American 3.1 update, with my settings pushed back for 3G etc.
Tonight I installed the UAString/SMS mod, so that I could send SMSes (which work perfectly with Handcent, over the Telstra 3G network - just like any mobile phone would do). Then I tried calling my tablet. This also worked perfectly! The call came up, it connected, etc. I answered and this is where we hit trouble. No sound. Either way. So the Xoom doesn't have a microphone/speaker set up for sound during a call. I even tried setting the Xoom on speaker phone, but still nothing.
Any ideas? Not sure if this has been posted about before, and I thought it was pretty exciting, to be making normal calls, and SMSes (there is all this talk about Google Voice, which is useless outside of the US) on the Xoom, and this was very exciting for me.
I know people have problems with newer modems and dialing *#0011#*...
But with the new modems you need a app from app store called ShowServiceMode For Galaxy LTE
1. Install app
2. Open app
3. UNcheck ''use recommended setting choosed''
4. Choose option called Main Menu: 197328640 (NOT THE MAIN MENU '#*#197328640!)
5. Press ''run with above setting''
6. Press 7 WB-AMR-SETTINGS
Here you have to enable 1 WB-AMR Enable and 3 WB-AMR Setting ON
7. Press back and press ''Run with above settings choosed''
8. Press 6 WB-AMR Status and see if it says WB-AMR Setting ON, GSM WB OFF and UMTS WB ON
Thats it, you now have HD voice..
I have got this working with all the touchwiss based roms, I have not tried other roms but I think it will do fine...
And one other thing!
To get this to work you can not have frozen/deleted these apps with titanium or other app

com.sec.bcservice
com.sec.phone
Factory mode
Factory Key String
MDMApp (I think)
Perso (I think)
Preconfig (I think)

Best integrated feature and don't see why they would take it away but still integrate blocked calling feature? Stupid. Know any third party apps that work with KitKat 4.4.2 for this?
So did Verizon take this feature out or maybe in the software update that brings us the Power Save modes we will get this feature back?

Made a thread on the Intl M8 forum trying to get someone over there to check. Will at least confirm if HTC said screw it you don't need this feature or Verizon/US Carriers (once other carriers get this device in hand to see) said screw it you don't need this feature. HTC says the M8 has this feature. Unless they are wrong or again only on the Intl version or maybe just latest Firmware since ours is so old and don't even have the simple Power Save mode yet. Exactly! Always had this feature even on Sense 5.5 with Android 4.2.2 on my HTC One X+ device. Seems odd Sense 6.0 would take the feature out and leave in the block call feature???
Third party apps never work as well as fully integrated features IMO. Sure they can work for the most part, only takes that one time though it doesn't work to ruin it all, lol!

Long press a message you only get options for Delete, Call, Open Contact. That's it! If you go into a text conversation window you can lock a message by tapping it and shows a lock symbol. Doesn't hide the message at all, think all this does is prevent message from being deleted.
Well looks like there is hope people!!! Straight from the HTC website it provides it (see link above) and also just got confirmation from an international unbranded HTC M8 user!
1.54.401.5 and yeah, stock unbranded international.
So i guess we then have to wait for either:
A. Verizon push us an OTA update with latest firmware 1.54.401.5
B. We have to wait for S-Off and then we can update on our own to firmware 1.54.401.5 and have it along with a world of opportunities?!?:fingers-crossed:
Just tested out the block caller feature that we still do have built into the stock dialer app. This feature is useless, try it! I blocked a phone number. Then had that phone call my phone, after 2 rings goes to voicemail, i left a voicemail. Now my phone vibrates telling me i have a new voicemail and also displays an icon on the notification bar with a person and a lock next to them. I pull down notifications and says tap to stop call forwarding or slide to dismiss.
So basically if you want someone to not call you you're SOL! They can still leave you a voicemail and the phone shows you right away that someone you didn't want to call just called. Gotta love the privacy here, WTF?!?
Really miss iPhone here with iBlacklist. The only app that got it right all the time! Would not let people leave a VM, would just make a busy tone if they called. Above that would save their texts they tried sending you inside the iBlacklist app itself if you cared to read them or just delete them. This device has no options like this and seems nothing on the market is compatible with kit kat 4.4.2?

Check out Who Are You. It pairs best with YouMail, but it's not required. I use them both and once I ditch a call, it doesn't just hang up on them. It plays the Verizon Wireless number disconnected message and then hang up.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Does it block text too? Seems nothing blocks text in kit Kat 4.4.2 and HTC phones have issues not blocking calls instead sending them to VM.
The voice answer capabilities are not available on the Pixel 2. I need to be able to say "Answer" or "Reject" to accept an incoming phone call. There is no built-in option and I cannot use apps such as Tasker because the voice option is grayed out. Can anyone please tell me how to get this feature to work specifically on the Google Pixel 2 XL.

I don't think that feature is available with the Google dialer. The only other phone I had that did that was Samsung with Touchwiz........

Thank you for the reply tkacer. Yes, I was coming from Samsung to Google so I had the feature. I am not a developer so I apologies if this is a naive question, but can an app be built that would allow the ability to answer with voice on the Pixel 2 XL? I ask because the only app I know (and trust) that possibly could is Tasker and I cannot get it to work. The option is grayed out when trying to add it to an application.

I feel your pain - really one of the few features I miss from touchwiz.........that and alarms the can be set using maps! I don't believe it will ever be a option on other platforms, or it would have been done already......haven't really heard or seen that feature anywhere else.
