Ez Package disabler is removed from the play store. I installed it in March, and now nothing works. They disabled the license check and the whole app doesn't disable apps. I'm so disappointed in Samsung right now...
To provide some context, Samsung basically told EZ to remove the app as Note7 users were using it to disable OTA updates that repaired some major phone instability issues
Nothing is removed,Package Disabler is still in Play Store. And works great, no license is disabled and all my disabled apps are disabled.
Dunno where you get this info from but for sure is not applicable for everyone.

He mentioned "EZ Package Disabler" and yes, it's not in GooglePlay anymore.
Oh.. My bad then but I still don't get the point for removing it in this case. There are plenty of disabler apps, they should remove all in this case...

He is right. The app cannot disable the apps anymore.
Ridiculous...

On top of all this what sucks about the other package disablers such as PDP, Samsung directly influences these app devs to not have the capability to disable Samsung specific apps, but allow for everything else to be disabled. I'm just surprised

Give them time..
EZ Package Disabler is back in the Google Play
I think all they had to do is to remove the corresponding OTA services from the disabling list

Basically, blame Note 7 users refusing to return their phone bombs/disabling OTA updates. Samsung want to limit all Note 7 devices to 60% maximum charge.
Its still in the play store and even had an update, but it does not do anything anymore. Any package that I try to disable gives me the message "Cannot disable. Does this package have admin access?"
And it does?

EZ Disabler has admin access, but the packages that I am trying to disable do not. It will not disable anything, including apps that I installed from the play store, not just system apps.
It's back, they just removed some modules.
You need to uninstall and reinstall, or remove and re-add administrator privileges.

Apparently I needed to deactivate and then reactivate EZ Disabler for it to start working again.

It seems they have removed it again.
Do you have any info?
I'm not seeing it either. I had to buy a different package disabler app from another dev. Seems like every 6 months or so, I spend a few dollars on an app only for it to be taken down (indirectly) by Samsung!
Any one have some news !?

Do you have Amazon App Store installed? I do and sometimes I open an app that I got from there and it says I have to reinstall it from the app store.
So I uninstall then head back and redlownload. It works for a day or two then errors again. Anyone else with this?

yep, kept happening with angry birds, could play it maybe 5 mins then error out and I would redownload and repeat. So I got it somewhere else and uninstalled the amazon app store. To many bugs right now.
do you have fastboot turned on? I think that breaks other market apps.
I wonder if they are having DRM issues, like with Rio if you uninstall the App Store you cant play the game. I bet the apps check to see if you paid for and downloaded them from the app store etc.... just my hunch

No I didn't want to risk it.
I had to re-install Angry Birds once, after that it has worked on all other free apps downloaded from them.
The amazon app store allows developers to "turn on" drm, which basically means that applications will not work if you do not have the amazon app store installed and have a working internet connection. In regards to that, I like the free apps they give out every day, but I dont think I would want to buy any from their store due to those reasons. They also have a no refund policy
Just downloaded free Fruit Ninja app and it works fine.

Actually I DID have fast boot on. Dunno why. I must have tried it to see of it worked or something but I have it off now and I did a reboot and am still getting the error. But only seems like its shazam that's the issue. I am running the Perfect Storm ROM so I'm not sure if its something in there that's causing it.

I'm having a similar issue.
I've been using the Amazon appstore for a while now and have had no problems. Installed CM 6.1.3 v054 onto my x10i and Weatherbug Elite and Vignette (which I actually paid for!) both don't work on the custom ROM.
I've tried wiping the data and uninstalling them and the appstore and reinstalling from scratch and it still no worky.
It seems certain apps have the DRM built into them. Is there any way a dev could mod his ROM to include DRM capability? Why wouldn't it have it already?

Part of the "features" of the amazon app store is the ability to allow developers to automatically inject drm into their applications if they choose. Easiest way to tell if your apps have it without further debugging would be to uninstall the amazon app store and see if they still run.
Everything working great so far...
Angry Bords, Weather Bug it's constanly happening too. Got rid of it, and just downloaded it via the market. The programs are definently lookign for the amazon app..
No way in the app to turn it off that I can see.

I would use App Ops that are baked into some ROMs (if using custom ROM with this addition) or Play Store the App Ops to see if, by using root, you can access this feature to restrict the Location for the wallet app.
Turning off NFC might help as well.

Just looked it up and it's not Google Wallet itself that is causing the issue, rather over all location services. You'll probably want to read a bit on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48051661

I have the same problem and it turns out because Google Wallet have "Offers", which always use Location Services (GPS, Wifi, etc.) to find the "relevant" offers (discounts, etc.) in your area.
I use Google Wallet for payment, but I do NOT need the "Offers" feature. In prior version of Google Wallet, I believe the "Offers" feature is disabled. However, now it is FORCED upon you. I don't see any settings in the Google Wallet app to disable "Offers". Anyone know?

And just turn off location to everything you don't want having the access. It's a great battery saver too!

I have used AppsOps to turn off Location Reporting for Google Wallet, but it seems something is still running that cause Google Wallet to keep causing this issue.
On a sidenote, I froze Google+. It still show up in App Ops for some reason and I see under "Location", it said it was last accessed 4 days ago. Thing is, Google+ is frozen and I got th ephone 2 weeks ago. So something is still running even if the app is in this state. I ended up uninstallign Google+
So I don't know if Google Wallet have the same thing...
It stopped happening after I finished setting up my account with a credit card and whatnot.

I know what you mean, was annoying to get pop-up offers when driving around. Looking into it, with Wallet open and on the main screen touch the 3 bar icon in the upper left. Hit " settings" then "notifications". On this screen just make sure "nearby items" is switched off (2nd option to the bottom). I hope this helps!
I keep getting popups:

Something is also opening Google Play to a page for a specific app. I haven't paid much attention but the last time it was for a dating app. I thought that maybe I hit the advertising banner on some page or another, but I've been more careful about that and these still keep coming up.
I'm running 5.0.1, not rooted and using the Nova launcher. The only unauthorized (not from the Play Store) app installed is one I wrote.
Where are these coming from?
Thanks!
You're not hacked, those are popups which website use to infect/earn money on people. Just don't tap on it and you should be fine.

Security software, or even AdAway should do it.
I had already tried CM and it found no threats beyond a lot of cookies. I uninstalled it and tried Sophos. It identified Real Piano as an app that could serve unwanted ads. I uninstalled Real Piano and so far have not seen these popups any more.

I'm glad Sophos helped. People believe that there are no malware threats on Android. Unsolicited adware can even be more bothersome as they are installed inside of applications but can run whether or not the application is active (malware!)
You might be interested in Mobile Security|NowSecure (ViaForensics) for further insight into where your installed applications are connecting.

Occasionally, some sites (including xda several months ago) will serve up similar fake (scareware) ads when they detect a mobile Android device. If you have installed adaway, these ads are usually not presented. Or if you aren't rooted, try out Ghostery browser from the play store. Works pretty good too.
Make sure you have the option to install from unknown sources (settings/security) disabled as a precaution.
(If you notice these ads on reputable sites, do contact the site administrators. XDA got the issue fixed 2-3 days after I reported it to them)

Today I tried fiddling a bit with this app. It's all good but after disabling a couple services in the Gmail app and finding out that they were needed a few minutes later, it seems like whenever I try bring them back to their prior unfrozen state they just won't stick, and every time I open the app they appear to be unchecked again. I'd really love to keep using this app but I damn sure need Gmail so...any idea on why this might be happening?
Edit: the app keeps killing the processes as shown on the attached pic.

I used to have the same problem. It turned out that I was being too aggressive with disabling limes into Google Play Services. However if I restore them it simply sticks as it should in the app, so it's not a big deal. With Gmail however it's a whole different story, at least on my device/ROM layout. I could try a full wipe but ain't nobody got time for dat...
A factory reset didnt repair the service status. I am rethinking of using disable service , does it slow down the phone over time ?

I'm mot using it right now, but I moticed that after I unistalled it the processes I blocked within the app remained blocked. A few seconds before uninstalling I just enabled Gmail, and being the app removed it just sticked for once. So even tho it's quite a crooked way to do it I managed to have Gmail working and the app doing its job anyway, even if it's currently not installed. It is a shame that one has to do such dirty workarounds in order to make things work as they should without breaking functionality, but that's the "fix" I'm using at the moment. Still no word from the dev so I've kinda lost hope anyways.

I wonder how much of a difference all of our micro managing really makes. Sure some processes are pretty toxic but when running a very slim build like deodexed XtreStoLite there isn't really much left to kill...right now I'm just using Greenify after a fresh install and I seem to be getting pretty much the same battery life...
Inviato dal mio SM-G925K utilizzando Tapatalk
No work for greenify on a clean install . The apps and service pile up over time . For me its :-
1. Freezing /unfreeze for facebook,kindle,amazon,etc
2.Disable services
3.App Ops
4. If apps crashes because of service disable then add on greenify
5. App Ops Startup + bootmanager
Using Old version of some apps like airdroid.

For some reason when I go to check for updates it does not stop checking. I had it running for 15 minutes before cancelling. Also tried rebooting the phone.
Edit: Its working now, it was a service that was disabled. I just re-enabled everything that I had disabled with package disabler.

Along with the other methods mentioned so far, you can also find it by opening the Application manager, tapping More at the top right, and tapping "Show system apps." It will then appear in the alphabetical list. Selecting it will allow you to disable it.
