Help!
So literally three days ago my dad gave me his old phone. It was a rooted Sony Xperia Z3V. I realized that I could not play Pokemon Go and so I installed the files a YouTube video told me to install to get Magisk, a program like root cloaker that should have let me turn on root toggle so that I could play Pokemon Go. I soon realized that this was not the case or I seriously messed up. Now my phone will not turn on. When I hold the power button it just vibrates and does nothing. When I hold the Power button and both volume buttons it shows a Sony logo after a while and then turns to a screen that says System Recovery at the top and has four options: Continue Power up, Safe mode, Factory Reset, and Power down. Absolutely all of them just turn off the phone. The Factory Reset has four options when you select it. At the top it says "Continue with Factory Reset?" and it has the following options: No, No, No, and Yes. All of those do nothing as well other that turn the phone off. My dad said he might have a backup on his SD card that he might be able to restore it to. However, I'm not sure he has this so if you can help please include a way without that. Also, my Dad told me that Sony Companion does not work with this phone. Please help. I know it was stupid but I'm still pretty new to rooting and I'm still in 8th grade. Now I'm back to my Droid Ultra. I know it's kinda a third world problem to have a slightly worse phone but I still broke the phone that my Dad gave me. It would mean so much to me if someone could help me I'm desperate.
Thanks,

Greetings and welcome to xda. First off don't worry your phone can be fixed easily, there are plenty of threads and tutorials on xda on how to hide root for certain apps. If root isn't important to you then just reinstall a stock rom.
If you ask your question here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help
the experts there will be able to help you
Good Luck

I have an unlocked HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus imported from the UK to the US. Ordered from Negri Electronics.
It's not rooted or modded in any way.. Mainly because I don't know how to. As far as I know, it's running stock ICS.
I was using it normally, (using the fb messenger app if it makes any difference) when it suddenly rebooted by itself. The Google logo comes up, then the start up animation, and sometimes the home screen will appear but is not touch sensitive (i cannot slide it to unlock), and then it 'hangs' and the screen goes black. Repeat.
I've tried to fix this by myself and there's a video on youtube (sorry, noob here. can't post links. video is by robbidwv and title is "my galaxy nexus won't boot..") of the same problem that I have, but the posted solution doesn't work for me.
So far, I have entered Coin Mode and pressed Start. Entered Fastboot mode and gone into Recovery Mode (no options appear after that. it just starts booting up and the loop begins), and I've also tried Restart Bootloader.
I've almost given up. Now all I want is to extract my SMS, if they're still on my phone. I can't access the folders on my computer because it won't boot up and connect. Is there a way that I can extract my SMS by using DOS in either Coin Mode or Fastboot mode?
Or even better, does anyone have a solution to this boot loop problem? I'll contact Negri Electronics tomorrow and hopefully they can send me a replacement.
Please help!! Thanks
that problem just started happening with me an hour ago!!
i hate this!!
we need a solution please!
Hey guys, sorry about the issue.the major problem I see here is you wanting to retrieve your txt messages, which might be possible with a little Modding, but if yourwilling to lose them to get a working phone back, then this is what your going to have to do. Make sure your phone is completely off. Hold the 2 volume buttons and the power button together. You will get into a mode with an android Guy. Press the volume button up or down until it says reboot recovery at the top. Press the power button. It will rebootand come to a screen with an android. Hold volume up,down and power at the same time. A menu will come up. Go down to wipe data. Click it, and after it is done reboot. Your phone should work now.
If this helped you, or you simply appreciate me taking the time to write this out then please press the thanks button
Hey!
Thanks. Yeah I 'fixed' it already. I was just about to post something similar. After a while I just gave up on trying to recover my data. Good thing that Google syncs everything so the only issue would be recovering my messages, which I decided weren't worth sending it in for a repair which would probably not be able to recover anything anyway.
The thing I didn't know about was to press power + volume up WHILE on the recovery screen. I thought navigating to the recovery screen was it!
Still, this kind of sucks. I love my GNex, but I can't help but be slightly pissed seeing that my crappy iPhone 3GS never did this in the 2 years I had it. Oh well, hope it doesn't happen again!
hey guys! i also did a complete wipe on my phone and got it working again!
but i wonder why this happened in the first place?
last application i installed before the crash was double twist, i dunno why but i feel that it was the reason behind the boot loop!
Sorry for reviving this thread, but I just had this happen to me TWICE!
It happened to me first last Monday, the 23rd - the phone crashed when trying to send an email with an attachment - and went into a boot loop - Google logo would appear, no make it to the animation, and reboot....
I performed a full reset and things worked again. I didn't install all the apps I had before - figuring it must have been due to some app messing with the OS.
Well, it happened again to me yesterday! I was connecting to my bluetooth headset when the phone crashed and went into the boot loop. Full reset worked again, and I've installed even fewer apps - essentially only those that I use on a daily basis.
My phone is still on 4.0.1 and I'm hoping once 4.0.4 is pushed this may get resolved? I have a canadian GNex from Negri. I will call them again (I called the first time, but when the full reset worked I never contacted them again).
I would like to this this is a software issues, and not hardware.
I have the same problem. If you figure it out let me know.
Today my phone also entered a boot loop: [Google logo]->[black screen]->[vibration]->[Repeat]
I tried Recovery Mode, but this is what happens: (sorry for the link but I am not trusted with powerful tools such as outside links apparently, as I have not yet reached the maturity of a person with eight posts... )
dl(dot)dropbox(dot)com/u/53568097/Android.jpg
This is what I see when I navigate to Recovery Mode
For a split second I can see an image of an Android with spinning cogs in his innards, but then this little sad fellow appears. WTF is this?
EDIT:
Oh, and I'm running Android stock 4.0.2, never rooted or unlocked, Swedish. At the time when the phone started doing this, I was using Endomondo, and was about to set off on my bike when it died on me.
Stock ROM galaxy nexus bootlooping after wiping data also.
Hi,
My GNex went into a bootloop so i searched xda and found that factory reseting would be helping my prob. But after wiping the data also its still in going through the loop . Please help .:crying:
First of all, hello everybody on this community.
I'd been reading on internet how to fix this issue, but no clue at all.
My english is not so good so I'll try to be as clear as possible.
My mother gave me a HTC Inspired 4G, it has many apps and stuffs. It was working fine but it has a lot of apps that I wouldn't be using so (here comes the stupidest idea) I decided to reset it from insight (at that moment I didn't know about the power and volume shortcut).
After I did it, it reset itself then after everything seems normal, I unlocked the screen and then the whole screen turned to black. I could still see the time, date and also open the upper menu, but when I pressed Menu or any button, it just vibrate and nothing happens. Also I got a few errors like xxxx stopped working.
I can manage it to open Config menu, but I can't do much, I tryied to add my wifi connection but when I press the white space to put the password, then keyboard wont display. Also when it used to get stuck on Rethink Possible, but after plug in the cellphone to my laptop I could pass it. Now I removed the microsd and won't need to be plug it for that.
So right now, I can't download anything, I don't know how to fix it or return it the way it used to be.
I don't know anything about root and all those stuffs.
But I learn fast, so any link, tutorial, tips or guidance for these issues, I'll make good use of it.
What I have to do in order to make it work.
Thank you very much in advance.
Do you know what software version you are running, whether the phone is unlocked or rooted, or any other details?
It says 2.3.3 if that what you mean, also I don't know exactly what rooted means but if I'm not mistaken, my cellphone is rooted.
When I turned on by pressing volume and power buttons, I get some kind of options like fastboot and so on, also when I choose Recovery, I get something called Ace Hack Kit, I don't know what's for. I see many options but I can't figure it out which one would help me with this.
It's obvious something been done on this cellphone but I though since I reseted it, everything would be deleted.

What do those options say exactly when you press power and volume?
Hi,
I am very new to all of this and I appear to have bricked my phone (sort of).
Before discovering this website I thought I'd remove the bloatware from my phone by following a Youtube video by SHEM so I could get root privileges.
However I got up to the part where I start using TWRP (5:40) and the actual display doesn't fit on my screen! Only three buttons fit going down the screen (Install, Backup and Mount) the others in the next row are cut off before the text reveals what they are. Because I know the one next to Install is Wipe, I press it but I cannot continue because Swipe to Wipe is completely off-screen.
So it seems that I am stuck with a phone that doesn't really do anything. All that happens when I switch on my phone is a light turns red, then the Sony logo appears, then the light turns green and the cycle repeats. All I am able to do is go into TWRP or switch off my phone (which doesn't appear to be completely off, the screen just turns black and it still seems to drain power). I am hoping that there's a way to resolve the issue, but my current level of inexperience leaves me clueless.
I think it may be important to mention that when I ran Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.0-RELEASE.installer it revealed a couple errors in the process. Everything seemed to work as expected however up until this point, though I'm not sure if my issue is connected.
I'm hoping somebody here will be able to assist, because I need my phone (obviously) and I would like to learn get root access without all the headaches.
Please help me!

Thanks for getting back to me. I went to the link and tried what it suggested.
I tried to follow the instructions under Finding the cause of the bootloop for After flashing a new rom, but the first part Start your phone in CWM Recovery says to hold down Home whilst turning the phone on. However, there is no Home button on the Xperia Z1 Compact. There is only Power, Vol Up & Down and the Camera button. I tried combinations of all and nothing changes. I still end up in a bootloop.
I will note that the bootloop occurs in the same way that I described in the OP, except that the red light doesn't flash. This only happens when the phone is connected to my computer via usb.
I managed to download the latest firmware from firmwaremobile(dot)com, re-flashed my phone and now it's back to normal.
I think I'll try getting root access again from one of the tutorials here on this site. I get the feeling that a lot of you know what you're doing when it comes to this sort of thing and can be trusted.
Can anybody recommend any particular one that gives root access on an Xperia Z1 Compact with the view of removing all bloatware from the device?

Here is an easy to use guide designed for the z1 compact, once you have rooted you can uninstall bloatware as you would any other app

Dear Learned ones,
I recently purchased a second hand Samsung S7 Edge phone, only to find out that it has a software KingRoot installed in it. I went into kingroot and then pressed some options to unroot it and then deleted kingroot app thinking it would have done the job but apparently not.
Now I have been trying to follow some youtube videos how to factory restore the phone but am stuck. The phone isn't simply going into download mode at all. I tried pressing vol down + power + main button but it simply does not work.
I would greatly appreciate if you can please help me with how do I go about restoring it to the factory mode.
Peace

Hi mate
Sometimes is tricky to get into download mode , when system is not 100% ok timing becomes an issue, keep trying it should work
Once there just flash a fresh firmware
Sometimes holding Volume Down & Home & Power until the phone reboots twice will work if doing it only once fails
Thank you, both for your replies and assistance. I have tried holding all three buttons down for good minute but nothing happens. It feels like that the screen lights up a little and then goes off again. I have been trying it over and over again few times but nothing happens
When I do it few times, it then comes back saying Android is starting... Optimising app XX of 102 and then starts normal again.
Is there a way i can insert two pictures here for you to see the main screen?

Hi,
the title is not the best but I don't know how else to describe it.
I have my old Sony Xperia X Compact with the stock rom laying around and wanted to use it again after a long time.
Sadly I forgot the screen unlock pattern and tried it 30 times till the phones reset itself, to get a fresh start. Well, at least that's what I hoped but now, when I start the phone, I cannot start fresh. It asks for an email and password for a previously synced account, I can't for the life of me remember. I am not even sure I had an account configured cause the last time that phone was used I factory reset it and just used it for some testing.
I tried to get into the recovery menu by turning the phone off and pressing volume down + power or volume up + power during the start but it just doesn't work. The phone either vibrates a couple of times and does nothing or boots normally when I don't hold down the buttons long enough.
It also doesn't show up when hooking it up to my PC and using adb devices.
I searched online but I can't find anything on how to access a phone that was reset this way.
I would appreciate some help.
Cheers

Let it do by authorized service center: requires you can prove that the phone belongs to you. With an invoice, for example.

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not really something I am willing to do.
If I can't get it working with adb or something similar and it doesn't look like I can, it will just go into the trash.
Really sad cause until today the hardware and especially the original battery is good enough to work as a daily driver.
