Samsung S5 build date? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i just bought a new Samsung S5 from "The Good guys" in Perth. i was surprised to find it already had Android 6.0.1. installed, thought i would have to upgrade it from the old Kitkat version. I looked for the phone's build date, in Main versions RF cal is 2016.10.25. That didn't sound correct as i bought it 2 weeks after that date and i thought S5 production would have ceased long ago being a 2014 model. I downloaded "Phone info" app which gave a build date of 14-sep-2016. Surely Samsung is not still manufacturing new S5's ???

Samsung to update the Galaxy Tab 2 until Android 4.2.2, testing on 1st Gen Galaxy Tabs
The last week of March is here and we want to start this week with some good information! Today, SamMobile received some exclusive information regarding Android updates for the Galaxy Tab. Samsung wants to update the Galaxy Tab 2 to Android 4.1.2 and stop with Android 4.2.2! Samsung is even trying the same with the first generation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P7300 / GT-P7500). According to our trusted insider, Samsung is busy testing how Jelly Bean updates work on the Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 processor*. He pointed out that these tests mean nothing for now. We will keep you folks up to date about the first generation of Galaxy tablets by Samsung.
The Galaxy Tab 2 by Samsung will receive Android 4.1.2 and end with Android 4.2.2. Samsung will no longer support the Galaxy Tab 2 after the Android 4.2.2 update. The updates must be done before the end of September. The issue with Samsung’s Exynos processor has been resolved and Samsung has, once again, started to test Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmwares for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800) and Galaxy Tab Plus (GT-P6200).
Everything sounds a bit far away but Samsung really wants to update all tablets in Q2 and Q3 to Android 4.1.2 or maybe directly to Android 4.2.2.
The insider reconfirmed. All smartphones and tablets based on a dual-core processor will end on Android 4.2.2.
* If the processor could handle the update and the test firmwares are OK.
We agree with the most of the users here on SamMobile about blaming Samsung because of the delay in updates but this sounds really good. Samsung will be the only brand with good reputation of Android updates. Remember, most tablets are already 2 years old and even Google only provides support for its device till 18 months.

Android 5 for Samsung S5 mini

Hi,
I'm looking to update my Samsung S5 mini to a custom ROM or an official one with at least Android 5, but coudn't find information about it.
Now I have heard about an update 5.1.1. from Vodafone and have a question. If my Samsung S5 mini device (Germany) has the PDA number G800FXXU1AOG2 could the update from Android 4.4.2 to 5.1.1. still work with the G800FXXU1BOL4 at:
sammobile dot com firmwares/download/64164/G800FXXU1BOL4_G800FVFG1BOL1_VD2/
And what does it mean "Country=Germany (Vodafone)" ? Will it only work with Vodafone or all SIMs including prepaid, just will have a Vodafone look?
The update would be even fine with an US user interface or language. The main thing is that it should work or being revertable

BTW: not that true for their mac book pro line
I can definitely not recommend Samsung devices for this very reason. Otherwise they would be really good. I decided against a Motorola only because of the exchangeable battery to avoid throwing away the phone after 2 years (or expensive replacement), now I have to throw away the phone due to very old and insecure software. Ugly.

Possible to use N920W8 Android 7.0 audio drivers for G920W8/T?

A couple of days ago, the Note 5 received the Android 7.0 update in Canada. Due to the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 being 'relatively' similar to eachother software wise; wouldn't it be possible to use the N920W8's audio drivers for G920W8? Many Android 7.0 roms are available right now (such as Griffins, Noble, Nexus7420 AOSP etc.) but only a selected few have support for W8/T.
Now, I can be completely wrong and sound stupid; but I had to at least ask (for my sanity.)
Thanks.

I925 Note 10.1

Hello all,
I have my brother's Note 10.1 that he wanted me to put a newer custom rom on so that he could use a more recent version of Android. He bought this used. When I look in the about section of settings, it says the Model Number is SCH-I925. Which according to Google and Samsung websites is correct, it is the Note 10.1 first edition. If I type the model number into the device search bar here in XDA it comes up as a phone. So, through some research, I was at least able to find out this tablet is not the 2014 version (Looked at the camera and it only goes up to 5MP so must be original version). However, I am not seeing any roms with the I925 in the title. Most are for 800, 8000, etc. So just looking for a little guidance. I am no stranger to flashing roms so I can work my way through the actual process. But usually the model number matches the roms and at this point I am not getting any matches.
What says you guys?
Thats the Verizon model .
I dont know of any roms .

New Samsung 8" tablet with S Pen

So I just recently purchased a Galaxy Tab A 10" with S Pen, and found it to be a little too large.
As soon as I purchased it, Samsung announced an 8" 2019 version with S Pen....which makes me want to return this one, but I can't find any information about a release date.
I keep refreshing Google News for new articles, and here is the latest: https://gadgets.ndtv.com/tablets/ne...-8-0-2019-launch-4g-lte-s-pen-support-2014559
Does anyone have any previous experience with Samsung's release date, or have any speculation on when this will drop?
Thanks!

Surprised that this Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 0 with S Pen is more closer related to Nexus 7 than the previous model it replaces. It should be on a buy list for anyone wanting to replace their Nexus 7 or Tab A 8.0 2015. https://youtu.be/Jzic9JeDBdE
