Using MX Player (free version) on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, I did not any problems with continuous play of album tracks in the numbered order inside a folder. Now using a Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo/New, MX Player stops at the end of the first track in the folder and goes back to tracklist display mode. I've Googled it as clearly as I could ; I've tried the "Loop All" option - it did not change anything ; I've checked the xda forum and couldn't find anything relevant - tried to switch HW decoding options/modes since it was a problem on a few G5s, but it did not fix my problem...
Can anyone help? Thanks!

Actually it's a side effect of using content scheme in apps.
I have already explained the reason over here

I'm having an issue similar to http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/bug-mx-player-responding-t2856695 - but instead of pausing video, if I press the Back button or the device home button, MX Player hangs on a white screen. I have to attempt a hard-restart to get back to the home screen, then manually dismiss the device.
Running a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 with AllianceROM.
I saved a report with MX Log Collector but I can't find it - where on the device does it save the report? I'll upload and link it.

I cannot find any problem in the log. MX Player finished playback with no problem.
Did MX hanged on your last try? If it continues please try upgrading your ROM.
Many custom ROMs are not stable even though it looks not likely.

It's been fine on Alliance ROM since several versions ago - I got it about a week after the S5 came out. Moreover, it's now failing to load.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, and it comes up, plays, but if I press Back during playback, it keeps playing audio. I had to pull the battery to get it to stop.
Now, it exhibits the failure to start. Even after another reboot, still fails.
I downgraded to .29, and I don't have any issues - I've disabled automatic updating so I can at least function in the meantime.
Log attached from when I launched MX Player and it failed to load on latest version.

I too have s5 & but, don't have such a issue.
Are you using stock rom?
Do you have problem with all videos or only in particular formats?
If it's in some of the videos can you post the media info too?

Nope, the ROM is AllianceROM, but it's basically the stock S5 ROM with the Samsung apps and crap removable by the end-user. It's more or less if you gotta have Touchwiz (I've got a Galaxy Gear, so yeah, that's a requirement) but if you don't want S this, S that, etc.
What would you like to know about the media? I mentioned before it's h264 encoded MKVs and standard AVIs - really old AVIs, like upwards of probably 10ish years old, but I can get more.

What's the source of the stream? Have you tried doing the following in the settings of MXPlayer?
Code:
Open app > Settings > Player > Keep screen on (third option from bottom)
I've just watched a movie on my OPO through Google's Play Film app, and the phone didn't timeout for the whole lenght of it.

OK, i have a Samsung note 8.0 tablet (gt-n5110) currently running cyanogenmod 12.1 which is lollipop 5.1. I am an avoid movie downloader and I have tons of SD cards full of movies I've downloaded. I used to watch them seamlessly on my tablet until recently. I can't recall if this problem started with the new ROM or not but no matter what app I'm using or what movie I'm watching, after a few seconds the audio track will skip and subsequently become drastically out of sync (usually 2-3 seconds or more behind the video which is maddening to me). I have tried multiple apps however I still prefer MX player. I do have the custom ac3 codec but I've tried using the default codec for regular mp4 files, same problem persists. Also, the problem continues whether I'm using a Bluetooth speaker or not. Any help would be greatly appreciate . I've fooled with all the settings I can find in MX, tried VLC, etc. I can't seem to find an answer that had fixed my specific problem. At this point I'm really frustrated and just want it fixed so if the answer had been right under my nose, you can call me an ass, I won't take offense, just please give me the answer lol.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
I assume you are using this ROM?
If so, here is the corresponding Q&A:
> Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 > Galaxy Note 8.0 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q&A] [ROM][N5110]Cyanogenmod 12.0[12/12/14]
Your developer should be able to assist in this problem. Please note, you will need to be registered for an XDA account in order to post there.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
I love this app, it's been my standard media player since my first Android phone.
I upgraded from the Galaxy S5 to the S7, and the player isn't working quite the same now.
The next/previous buttons used to load the next/previous file in the current folder, now next does nothing and previous only returns to the start of the current file.
The seek gesture, as I used it to seek ack and forth the video image would update while seeking so I knew where I was. Now it only updates after I lift my finger off the screen and stop seeking.
I assume there are settings I've missed for this, but I can't find them. Any advice is appreciated.

Go to Settings > Player & disable back to list.

Isn't that the same setting that means when a video ends the next video starts automatically?
On my previous phone, the next/prev buttons loaded the bext/prev file, but when I finished a video it would return to the list and not automatically play the next vid.

Actually when back to list enabled, previous /next button won't change the track. I have already asked the developer to enable previous / next even if back to list is enabled.
Hopefully next update will fix the issue.

Hi
I use MX Player on my Galaxy S4 (i9505) with LineageOS 14.1
For me, the previous/next button does not work anymore.
Settings > Player & "disable back to list" has NOT solved the problem.
Whether enabled or disabled.
I use MX Player synonymous on my other phone and have importet these settings to my Galaxy S4.
This also has not solved my problem.

First one is not a bug at all. In recent version of Samsung file manger & Gallery it uses content scheme instead of file scheme. For example it sends some odd path to MX Player (like Content://[email protected]/external/video/12345)
You can confirm it by opening the properties while playing the video. In this case MX Player won't aware the actual location of the file. So, it's almost impossible to use next/previous as the content folder is unknown to the app.
For the second one, Goto Settings >> Player and enable Preview while Seeking. That's all.
"You can confirm it by opening the properties while playing the video. "
Thanks for this note.
The previous/next track button works again. :good:
Hi guys,
MX Player has been my favorite player for ages but after I've upgraded my GS5 to Android 6.0.1 it started doing something annoying. Before the update if I had a bunch of videos on a folder it would simply play one after the other. After the update the first video stops playing when it reaches the end but the next video doesn't start...instead I have to start it manually. I went to the MX Player settings, then Player and made sure the option "Back to list - return to the list after playback is completed" was unmarked. Any idea on how to fix this?

You can't upload here, upload to any cloud storage like Google Drive, Dropbox or Box & share the link. If you are not allowed to post the url due to minimum post count, just mask it like h**://www.example.com/path or _http://www.example.com/path

My tablet (Galaxy Tab S) just received an OTA 6.0.1 update, and now has the same issue.
@rawfa

Hope you guys are openning the videoa from either samsung file manager or Gallery. It's actually not a MX Player bug. It's a side effect of content provider. Latest Samsung File Manager and Gallery uses Content provider instead of forwarding normal file paths.
For example, MX Player will receive "content://[email protected]/external/video/media/12345" instead of actual file path. So, it may not be possible to open the next video when actual path of the file. Next button doesn't work with most of the known media players because of this new implementation.
Instead of File manager, you can use MX Player directly to open videos. If you want to use in Hierarchical Tree View, Just Go to Menu > View > Folders. To show all videos without showing any folders you may use "Files".
Thanks @ktsamy.
Unfortunate answer, but it also explains the other weird issue I have been seeing, which is MX Player showing a number instead of the filename.

Things changes with newer android versions.
From android 7.0 onwards it will be default on all apps having target SDK as 24.
It's unfortunate that Nougat will no longer allow the file scheme when target SDK is set to 24. So, either they have use Target SDK as 23 or have to switch to content scheme. But, When content scheme is used the intent receiver will not aware the actual path.[emoji20]
