[Completed] Media files disappeared - XDA Assist

This happened yesterday, I was out and my charge got over so as soon as I reached home I connected my HTC desire Eye to the charger. After I turned it on, all the Media (Photos Videos Music and Some documents) which get saved to my Adaptable storage [SD Card (I had formatted it as my internal storage before)].
Everything related to Media files just vanished but the space is still occupied by them. And the apps (Mc5, Snapchat) are still there.
I tried opening albums in my gallery those photos appear for a fraction of a second and they disappear again.
And I did try clearing the cache of my gallery app, and tried to find the files on my PC when I check for amount of space occupied by them imgur(dot)com/a/zIusp through my pc it shows 68MB. imgur(dot)com/a/wA9gb
Is there any way to get them back? Please help.
Thank You.

It sounds like all your media files are still there but when you formatted internal storage you may have reset something. It seems like a common problem with HTC phones, if you ask your question here

[Q] SDcard or android creating unwanted mp3 type files

I cannot play my mp3s without one or two songs repeating over and over, before going to a new song, then the player goes back to the same repeated ones. I noticed that extra files are being created continuously in the mp3 folder. Even if I make a play list the player still manages to go back to these invader files. Is that a micro sd card or android issue. I first notice it after I install ics on my SGS I9000. Now I am JB (I9300OXADLI8). I have added some pics. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

first and foremost, do not create multiple threads for the same issue, since its against XDA rules, for which u might even get an infraction from the FSM(forum specific moderator).
now for ur issue, try clearing Data/Cache of the 'Media storage' as well as the music app, then reboot ur phone and wait some time for the 'Media scanning' to complete and then check for the duplicate file issue
OP, your double posting has been removed, Please refrain from posting same topic multiply times, Thank You.

Sorry for being a pain, but how do I go about clearing the Data/Cache of the 'Media storage' and the music app? Thanks
I was able to clear Data/Cache of the 'Media storage' as well as the music app but the problem still lie. I realised that not only are files being created from one or two songs, but other mp3 files are being replaced by the same repeated ones. E.g. if I try to play another song I will hear one of the two repeated songs instead, but the info for the song that should be playing will be displayed.
Are you deleting the files, and then clearing the cache? Clearing the cache might not necessarily delete the files that already exist.
Also, try scanning your sd card for errors on a pc. Weird things happen...
Ok I deleted everything on the sdcard formated it put the music files back on then I did the clearing of the cache. I will let you guys know later on, if the problem is solved after some test. Thanks.
Well I formatted the micro sdcard twice, cleared cache for storage and music app and it still happens. I have now put the music on my internal mem and the problem is not happening. So it is deffinately an sd card problem. Is the card damaged/corrupted? Can it be fixed? Or should I get a new one? EHHHHHHH

Didnt Unmount SD card before removing, all pics are gone! Please help

I have posted a similar thread in android discussion but i was centered around Android apps to recover data, now im desperate for anything.
So a bout a week and a half ago, I was having trouble playing a movie over DLNA so I took my SD (Sandisk 64gb) card out of my phone and put it in an android tablet that I am able to connect to the TV via HDMI. Movie played fine and then I took it out of that tablet and put it back in my phone and went about my business using the phone again taking photos etc. Then about 2 weeks ago I was asked to send over a photo I had taken a few weeks ago. So I went in to look for it. all my photos were gone. everything else is still on the SD card but the photos.
I have tried recuva and photorec which has only recovered about 25-26 photos, and the photos are in a very small subset, it doesn't contain my most recent photos or my oldest but ones in the middle sort of. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am hoping that my photos are not gone for good since the photos that were recovered were in the middle section. I am considering the test disk partition recovery but I also dont know if that will do anything either, since I dont know if I "lost a partition". It seems most of these recovery programs are designed for "deleted" files, but I didn't delete these files, I dont know what removing without unmounting them did to it and why it only affected my photos.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

[Q] Desperate for help after deleting pics

I have a rooted Galaxy S3. One week ago I was in my picture gallery and accidentally deleted a whole folder of 1,300 pics thinking it was one picture (so stupid of me I could kick myself). I have a sd card but was unaware it was almost full and I am assuming it was saving to internal memory. Have several folders in gallery and the main two were labeled camera (has 700 pics and still on phone) and the other was the one with 1,300. Since they are of my kids I am desperate to get them back. I have checked google+ (sync was off, again really dumb, I know). I have been consumed with trying to figure this out but haven't had luck finding any straight answers that are credible. I have tried diskdigger pro but the only files found are the 700 from the sd card. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks for response, but I have tried recuva. The problem when I connect with pc is it doesn't find phone as a drive, just the sd card.
Have you tried "disk digger" app it seems to be a good one among the pro's.

Was it on the SD card or on the internal card?
If on the SD, take out the SD from your phone and plug it into a computer (may need a converter), then use a program like easeus data recovery (you can get it for free one way it another) to restore the data.
Good luck! I can't even imagine having that happen.

[Completed] Cubot one [rooted][miui4.08.29] sd card storage specific problem

Hi. I posted in another thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66162018#post66162018
but nobody seems to follow it or answer for 8 days now...
I believe my problem is not model specific, rather universal, so i need just a little bit of assistance in finding the file neccessary for editing, and edit it accordingly. I'll paste the important part here:
"cubot one has about 8 GB of INTERNAL memory which is again (probably virtually) divided into internal memory of about 1,06 GB and external memory of about 5,96 GB.
under storage settings , no matter which i pick, external or internal storage for gallery , video , music, it doesn't work...
i cannot shoot pictures, video, download pictures or video from whatsapp, download ringtones etc because it is always saying that there is no sd card. how do i force it to accept that "virtual" sd card or even internal memory?
edit: i managed to get the storage working, but not permanently. i put in sd card from my phone into my wife's phone, shot some pictures, video, etc. removed the sd card, and checked if i got the same message. I DIDN'T! storage is still working, pictures and video are going under /storage/sdcard0/dcim/... ringtones are also available for download and i can finally access the "local" tab with default ringones. As i said, this is not a permanent solution, because as soon as i reboot the phone, the problem is back again. I believe it is all a matter of changing a few lines inside a single file (maybe vold.fstab? ), so i need someone to help or at least put me on the right track to do it myself."
thank you in advance.
Hi,
XDA Assist is here to help new members navigate the site, not for support. Unfortunately answers can be hard to come by with less popular devices.

You've already posted in the best place, so I will close this thread. And good luck! :good:

Storage access bugged

Hey guys, new here, hope it's right to post this here and not in my device's section but it's probably pretty empty in there.. Anyways, i have a very strange problem with my storage access where apps can't properly see contents in my storage (both internal and sd card) meaning the following: apps know folders exist and that space is taken up, but they seem to be unable to actually read or write files somehow. For example the storage tab in the settings shows how much space is free but the categories like pictures, music etc files show 0 bites, except for apps, that section shows up fine. Another example: fx file explorer can't show the amount of used space in the general overview or the folder information tab. But when i actually go into a folder it does show how much space is used and how much is free. I can open a music file in the built in fx music player but when i try to open in an external app it cant play it, shows its at e.g. 116:27:01 out of 5:52 actual play time and that the media format may not be supported. I'd post screenshots but i cant actually make any as the system cant save them.
I have tried restarting, even had a security update from before a few days that i was to lazy to install so i did that, still no change. I also tried removing the sd card to no avail. Since the google play services were using up alot of battery i tried deleting cache, data and even updates for both them and the play store but it seems that this was just another symptom and not the cause. So i think the culprit might be the whatsapp beta version 2.19.365 which crashed at the splash screen for most of it's users. I somehow managed to update it but the problems started when i tried opening it so i don't see what else would be the culprit. I've already contacted their support but tbh i don't ecxpect much help from them.
I'm on an unrooted Honor 7x with Emui 9.1 (based on Android 9).
Does anybody have any idea on what i might try except for a factory reset? I would really like to avoid doing that.
I thsnk everybody who took their time to read and maybe even answer this. Hope your day is going better. Cheers
