Can the phone enter fastboot mode? Is the bootloader unlocked? If yes to both, try flashing a stock kit kat rom, including user data.img.

You need adb support in order to unlock your bootloader. Open cmd/terminal if you are on Mac an type "adb devices" press enter an you should see your phone listed below
After you see your device listed.
Type "fastboot oem unlock" an press enter this will unlock your bootloader and after this you need to flash a custom recovery.
Here is a link which explains in detail how to do all the steps that I told you briefly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
Follow the instructions word by word an you can restore your dead nexus 5.
Here is the link to get the files https://developers.google.com/android/images
Press the thanks button if I helped.

You need to boot into fastboot mode on the phone and use fastboot commands to unlock the bootloader. Adb commands will not work and are not necessary with the phone in fastboot mode.

This. ^^^ Fastboot is the bootloader screen. You still need fastboot drivers.

Hi, I've a similar issue: my N5 had some trouble with the power button, now I just solve, but unfotunately the phone is still charging android( is blocked on the screen with the flowers).
I tried to unlock or re-flash android stock with NRT but after the first operation the phone don't want to charge android.
Any suggestion?

I got the same problem. i can access recovery mode but my phone is not getting detected in PC. just hangs on Google logo (white) :crying:
bootloader os locked also.
My Model is GT-I9020T.
please help.
thanks in advance.
You should try the usb jig sold on ebay for the Nexus S.. It will bring the phone to download mode so you can flash your firmware with odin.. To use odin on your mac you need to have Windows installed with a virtual machine or virtualbox..

I have google nexus GT-I9020t. it hangs on google logo (white). fastboot oem unlock is not working. lock state : locked.
when i go into recovery mode and try to wipe data/factory reset, it says:

if i try to flash using fastboot, it says run fastboot oem unlock command.
it is not detecting in odin also. i have installed the drivers though.

You need to accept the warning message, the screen you attached.
Have a look at redmondpie.com/unlock-nexus-s-bootloader-how-to-guide/ (sorry cant post link as i am new user)
As I said, its been a long time, since I rooted, so I guess, you need to use power key or volume key for any action.

[Q] Stuck in "FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG"

My NExus S is stuck on the screen that says:
Fastboot Mode No Boot or Recovery IMg.
Product Name - Herring
HW Version - Rev34
Bootloader Version - D720SPRKC5
Baseband Version - D720SPRLCI
Carrier Inro - SPR
Serial Number 32300E25C33500EC
Lock State - Locked
options to select
Reboot Bootloader (gives me exact same screen) except it only says "Fastboot"
Reboot Back to the "FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG"
Recovery (Can boot to CWM but I can't mount anything)
Power OFF (That works fine)
Then the little green man and the android logo
Followed by USB Control INIT
USB Control INIT End
STANDARD_SET_CONFIGURATION
Conventional wisdom says download some files and fix via fastboot. However in fastbootI can't run ANY of the steps without running FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK. When I run it my phone asks if I really want to unlock the bootloader. when I choose YEs and hit power it just freezes there.
My next thought Boot to recovery and restore. A restore through recovery followed by a reboot leads me back to the original no boot or recovery img.
Okay I'll just sideload a working rom by mounting usb storage. Then I can flash it with CWM and be up and running.
but when I try to do mount the USB Storage I get "E:Unable to write to ums 1unfile (No such file or directory)"
Finally, Last ditch Effort, I'll load up ODIN and use that to put on a working recovery. there's forums all over the place explaining how to do that right? Well yes, but the links to the Tar file are all broken.
What next my friends? I'd really like to get this phone working.

what about just using adb? Can you find it when you type fastboot devices? If so there's a command in fastboot to reboot to recovery I think.
I on the other hand am screwed. I read in another forum that it hangs on unlock because the internal memory is fubar.

Solution for me:
1. Turn device on into Bootloop
2. Connect it via USB (PC founds it)
3. type in CMD "adb reboot recovery"
4. device is in recovery
5. reflash everything i wanted :good:
Requirement is a working Android-SDK!

Relock bootloader without using recovery?

Hi.
I am about to RMA my phone and need to lock the bootloader..
BUT - I cant get into recovery.
I have tried everything, reverted to stock image (followed the thread how to return to stock image) , but no matter what, I cant boot into recovery.
I can get into the bootloader / fastboot , ie and run adb commands, but I cant boot into recovery.. its just flashed the google logo and then gets tuck there ..
Is there any way I can relock the bootloader given my predicament?
it's doing some other pretty weird stuff.. pretty sure the battery is near flat, but If I plug it in to charge, it flashes the charging logo and then about 10 seconds tries to boot,.. flashes the google logo and then about 1 second ofthe spinning colour circles.. then just black screen.. even if I go into the bootloader and hit power off..
If anyone has any Ideas I would love to know.
Does anyone know if google will RMA with an unlocked bootloader or am i screwed? This sucks!
1) you cannot run adb commands from fastboot. Adb commands only work in android or recovery
2) you just use fastboot commands from fastboot (bootloader). Accessing recovery is not part of the process

Just boot into bootloader and run fastboot oem lock. No need to go to recovery for locking the bootloader. If you have flashed the stock images already the data was already wiped.

Why is there a whole thread about relocking the bootloader and a zip to flash via CWM (talking about resetting the tamper flag?)

If I just do fastboot oem lock isn't Google going to be able to tell I have been flashing..?

If you have a custom recovery/ROM on the phone then of course they'll know what you've done! You have to flash the factory image and then relock the bootloader and you'll be OK

Why don't use Bootunlocker? You can unlock/relock directly from the Nex5 without loss data and no wipe!!
I seriously doubt that they will check the tamper flag. Maybe sprint would, but I doubt that Google will. Just relock the bootloader and send it in bro. You'll be OK. I've sent nexus 7, nexus 4 both back with an unlocked bootloader and got my replacement no questions asked.

What about trying Wugfresh toolkit he has a setting in it for recovering from a none booting/softbricked device.
Download the factory images, unzip the file, while in the bootloader, click on flash-all.bat. when that's done, get back into the bootloader, and open a command window, and type fastboot oem lock. Now you are back to a stock phone.

[Q] bootloader ? fastboot mode issue

previously i unlocked rooted my device running stock 5.0
I tried to flash cynogenmod 11s and didn't get installed showing error for" MD5 check"
I tried many times and now i m not able to get into twrp recovery which i installed . Instead its showing stock recovery.
I tried OEM lock to start the process from beginning after fastboot mode showing many times for the process, its stuck in the 'waiting for device' in nexus toolkit and in device , the screen isnt moving from fastboot mode unless i manually start it. after starting manually the bootloader haven't re-locked.
I tried reinstalling my ABDdrivers in pc and did all the process again but nothing worked.
wonder whether the nand memory is fried ???
Do this.... Boot the phone in fastboot mode.... Connect to your PC and confirm with fastboot devices if the same is recognized ....
If it is.... Check the current status of the bootloader of it being unlocked or not.... If it is unlocked .... Just flash the stock image

Use fastboot & ADB guide for beginners. Download all required files so your PC can Connect to OPO VIA USB from PC. What PC OS do u use? Windows or Linux. Watch how to unlock boot loader, root, & install recovery tool or Return to stock OnePlus one YouTube video. Easiest start. Your phone will be OK. U need to down load drivers so u can use your PC to talk to your phone - pass instruction & activate 1+1 options. You don't need a recovery to unlock the bootloader. Just boot it into fastboot mode, connect it to your Mac, and type 'fastboot oem-unlock' on the Terminal. Be careful, though, because you WILL lose ALL of your data!

Hmmm no recovery? When u hold down volume + power ?
Did u find the fastboot & adb tools for Mac?
What happens when u hold volume key up + power button at same time after turning device off?
What happens if u $fastboot devices -
Can u issue cmd "$fastboot oem unlock"
Know its frustrating but have to keep trying till u get in. Just have the rom files unzipped on your Mac ready to flash 1+1 when u get in. Its how I did it. When I wasn't able to but into recovery. Get on fastboot go thru OEM unlock, then flash 1+1. Follow the install script manually. Open script w plain text reader & just issue cmds following script. I don't trust scripts I + automation to get things unstuck.

Use Google, there are plenty of guides available online. Once you have fastboot working the best thing to do is to flash the stock images with fastboot. I have detailed instructions in section 8a of my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
Please note that fastboot commands are slightly different on a Mac but you'll see that when you view a guide on how to set it up and use it.

There's no point in duplicating my guide when all that's needed are a couple of extra characters prefixing each fastboot command.

Issue the Mac equivalent of this command:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
What does it return?

Ok, try the unlock command again. What recovery did you previously have installed?

You definitely can't boot into recovery? Most times not being able to get into recovery it's a case of user error. Hold volume down, then hold power (so you're holding them together), when you see the OnePlus boot logo let go of power but keep holding volume down until you reach recovery.
