Z3 D6603 does not do anything anymore - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
i recently did change the Display on my D6603 Z3. It took some for the Display to arrive, so i did not charge the Smartphone at that time.
After changing the Display my Phone only gets a Red LED when plugged into the charger but none of the Reset combinations seem to work.
Also does the LED stop after sometime. Anyone has an idea what could be wrong ? Its a constant bright RED light.

Mine did a similar thing if I remember correctly. The LED should at least change colour when charged, stays red= battery not charging. I changed my battery and has been fine ever since even though it is a cheap one off ebay!
Presume you've pressed the tiny yellow reset button that's next to the sim card.
Just stick a new battery in it's not like it'll ever be waterproof again! lol

Try charging via the magnetic port.

I tried that. It does not really work. When it connects then disconnects then connects again for about 15 times or more . The LED blinks orange the whole time. after that it starts chargin but it charges 10% in 6 hours
what i also noticed it that i wont get the message anymore that when the cover of the usb plug is unplugged.

seems that battery was to cheap and or the battery chips are broken.

what are the Battery Chips ? It is an original Battery from another Z3. I have 3 here now and got the same problems with all of them. It seems like that the charging power is not constant but it charges then stops then charges. Repeats like 2 times per second.

welleither u should try to getg an 2A charger and proper cable and retry. else ur usb port (z3 ones) might be defective

[Q] Battery does not charge always!

Hello, recently I'm having a problem with my Galaxy Core with charging!
This occurs randomly, few times only! Not always:
When I plug in the charger, as usual, it shows battery charging! Even after charging one hour, when charger is unplugged, the battery meter doesn't increase! I've tried restarting, cooling down battery, charging again, and it charged normally 100%. So, basically it does not bother me much, but just wanna know if this happens to anybody else, and as, I think, its a hardware problem, so I worry about it?
Another thing is if I connect my APACER B120 Mobile Bank, the phone doesn't charge, does not even show its plugged in. Other phones charges perfectly, even with the same cable. Has anyone tried charging with this, or any portable charger? Thanks!
sound like hardware problem man
Make sure your usb cable is working and use the cable you got with the phone.

Slowest Battery Charging

Alright, so here is a fun issue to deal with. My notepro has always been a little slow to charge, but most of them are. However, its gotten very bad.
I have had issues with screen flicker and a little heat issues and some other small things off an on. So, fed up with it, a few days ago I rooted the tablet. It worked fine. Then I tried to install a new kernel and rom that was getting good reviews. However, when i did this, I couldnt get past the boot screen. Several reinstalls of stock and customer kernels later, my tablet started flashing and eventually died. When it was plugged in, it would show the battery icon with a circle in the middle but then die. Several tries to fix only seemed to solidify the tablet's fate.
However, yesterday I gave it another shot. I assumes the tablet had heated up and made the solder loose, so after a while it was solid again. It started charging, and after reinstalling stock rooted rom and stock kernel repeatedly, it was working again. I then installed the rom and kernel I was trying to before (I had to have a custome kernel to be able to control voltage for the screen flickering issue).
Now it is actually working. All functions are working, and oddly enough I am not seeing any screen flickering.
Only one real problem remains. Battery charging. The battery is charging so slowly that when the tablet is turned on, it doesnt charge at all, it creates a stalemate between charging and draining. It also drains pretty quick. The power drops about 5% in about 5-10 minutes of full screen brightness use (I was testing it this way to try and see if it would flicker again.
Its been charging for about an hour now, and only gone up 5%.
I have tried a couple cords and different bricks, but to no avail.
There are some thoughts, I am wondering if the tablet is only drawing power as if charging from usb, so only around 0.5a instead of 2.4a or so . I am also wondering if there is still a hardware issue.
I do not think it is the rom or the kernel, as this issue was happening as well after I got the tablet working again on stock but before I tried isntalling the rom/kernel again.
Any suggestions? I would be very appreciative.
I had simular problem with very slow charging, reboots and bluescreen. I opend my note to check battery plugg for broken soldering, but I found no problem with it. But to check turely i unplugged battery from main bord and replugged it again. After that I had no problem at all, now its charging normal, no reboots.. stil working perfect after averyday use for about 8 mounts......
If you are using usb cord not usb3 cord it will charge very little when using tablet . Mine will charge when off and below 25% to full in 7 or 8 hrs overnight.

Could be a bad charging port dock/flex cable. These are actually pretty easy to replace and can be found on Amazon. I had to replace one on mine. Try searching for a usb charging port dock flex cable for samsung galaxy note pro. That will cause the issues you are seeing. However the screen flickering sounds like a voltage issue caused by a cracked solder pin from the battery connection to the board. Which is very common on these and hard to see without an electronics magnafication glass. You could try taking the back off and pressing the battery connection firmly while plugging in your tablet and powering it one to see what happens. Either way sounds like a hardware issue.

Ok Guys, had the same problem with my 12.2 samsung tab pro, changed usb chargers, cables etc.
Found that the connector on the tablet itself (female) did not made good contack with the male usb.
So i simply , very careful, with a pair o pliers closed both tips on the usb conector, so the cable enters more tight. And voila, the usb amp meter i had showed a rate of charge from .33 amp , jumped to 1.73 witch is more than enough to charge and use tablet at the same time.
You need to do this at the end of the cable that plugs on the tablet, that is kind of double, maybe a e.0 usb or something like that. Make sure to close both tips. You want a tight connection

nexus 5 not charging.

I hope to be asking in the right section,
my nexus 5 only works while charging, but the battery isn't charging.I mean,i left it during the night to charge, but it didn't move from 0%.i tried to unlock the bootloader to have a full wipe but still nothing changed.I can't understand what's the problem,i tried everything. It doesn't charge at all.I've also tried the app ampere and it says that it's ac connected, but the battery isn't charging ,even if the phone says the opposite:any idea?
thanks for the answers.
p.s i've changed the battery with a new original one and it worked fine, until some days where it's not charging anymore.the old battery does the same,i can't even use the smartphone with that .
Maybe the usb port/flex cable is defective?

no because I tried every possible cable, and everyone let me use the phone with 0% battery
Since you've eliminated the battery and flex cable, only thing left is the mobo?

xperia XZ charging problem

Hi, I am a novice in phone repairs though I have successfuly replaced the screen and charging ports on a samsung s6 and note 4.
I am requiring some expert advice on this problem, I was given an XZ from my friend with a cracked screen and charging problem, the charging port became temperamental and failing (at least I think it was that) and eventually wouldn't charge at all. The charging port was handled a bit harshly toward the end, for example the charging cable lifted up and down to try to get a charging response.
Anyway I ordered a screen/digitizer and charging port flex for it, and fitted them, following a guide. Before this, the phone had around 2% charge. After the repair, I switched it back on and conncted the charger, the screen was fine, however there was no response from the charger. The phone then ran flat and eventually ran flat enough to not be able to show the "low charge" symbol when the phone is off. Then after plugging and unplugging the cable (via USB in the pc) it would charge for what seemed a second then stop, the red charging notification light was lighting up. The same happened with a wall charger. I then stripped it back down and back together again. This time there was no response if I remember right, then I connected it to the wall charger and left it for 3 hours or so. I went back to it and it had charged up to 15%.
Now i'm at the point where the phone is working, it's on 90% now, but it charges very slowly, around 60-350 mA per hour on Ampere app. So a full charge is around 12+ hours. This is in the wall socket with a fast charger. Additionally, it takes 10 seconds for the phone to recognise the charger after is is plugged in and that is consistent each time I plug it in. The phone now isn't recognised by my PC via USB, and also won't charge that way also, it just doesn't do anything if I plug it in there. Other than that, the phone works and it holds its charge well.
Any ideas? Thank you.

pick up an original sony charging cable - no idea why it makes such a difference, but.........
Hi, thanks for the reply, I bought a sony charger but it's still the same, drawing about 50-300 milliamps from wall charger, not recognised by PC and takes 10 secs exactly for the phone to recognise it's being charged. It's just odd how it stopped charging before the "fix", now the new flex lets it charge slowly. Can a battery problem cause this? It still holds its charge well. Maybe this problem is recognisable by some phone repair experts around here? any ideas?
Thanks
Noticed the phone only draws charge from a 3amp charger, anything less isn't recognized. And the power drawn from a 3amp can be 30-1000ma but averages around 300 ma. Can anybody point me to a hardware forum maybe? I can't find any, i guess it need taking to a phone expert but it's gonna end up costing more than its worth with the stuff i have done already.
Aukey Quickcharge 3.0 is working fine. It is cheap too.
I have just purchased a aukey charger, but my XZ seems to be taking longer to charge than the UH20 charger that came with my XZ. Any suggestions guys?

Have you tried cleaning/replacing the charging port itself? As i see, you replaced only the flex cable.
There's probably extremely weak contact somewhere in the charging hardware i think, because you need 3.0 A charger to get any kind of charging response. Weaker current probably gets lost at that 'weak contact'.
Buying new chargers won't fix that if you ask me
I have exactly same problem with you
I am about to buy a new charger, yet I saw your post
At first I thought it was the cable. Then my cable work normal with other phone. So does my charger, it connect perfectly with other phone (xperia xz premium and xiaomi mi5)
It seems that our phoneis the only one who can'y charge normally.
I am quite depressed, also looking for solution. Mind if you share if you have succedeed? Thanks before

Try plug in and plug out. My phone sometimes charge a normaxl. But need a lot of effort
Solved
Use the the detect usb in the notification keys before connecting the charger,, this will solve the fast recharging issues
Did you solved problem? I have same issue. Changed battery, usb-flex, no luck
Hi,
I have bought an used XZ.
The owner sold me this phone because he need new battery. I have replaced the old one after a week of test. The old battery works only for 6/10h and drain totally during night even if the phone is turned off. The new one have the same problem. I try to solve with an other battery, and nothing same problem. 12h of standby, after is totally drained. The strange thing is that I have the same battery life even when the phone is turned off, but not only this. If the phone is in 0% he charge without problem. If we have any % of battery I need to connect and disconnect the charger from a wall plug many and many times before he start charging. Phone give me the charge icon for a second and after nothing until I disconnect the charger from a wall plug(I have tested different charger and cable). During my investigation I have found that this phone results every time a little bit hot even if turned off. I have try to disconnect all is possibile, but the heat is from CPU! Now I know that this is the cause of fast discharging in all conditions.
Now I need to know if anyone with a "normal" unit feel the phone heat while turned off and while is on wich temperature have. Mine is every time on 34/35° in standby. Let me know,
thanks
i have same problem . sony xperia xz and sony corp is very very Rubbish
Hi Guys,
I found a way to charge my Xperia XZ with the same loop problem.
Try to push upper volume pad together with power button and plug in the charging cable.
Hold the buttons for 3-5 minutes - you will feel vibrating signals like 3 short and 1 long.
so hold it and then simply leave it for a several minutes and it should start to accept the charge.
Alex Kutikhin
Yes - I had this problem...fixed it by holding in POWER UP and OFF button for 120 seconds.
Do not let go...you will feel vibration (1 short, 3 short). Keep holding for 120 seconds.
Device should now be powered down. Plug in charger cable and leave device off until 100% charged.
Still no fix for the original post’s problem? Having the exact issue with my xzs right now.

Old Thread, I know, but I encountered this issue today on an Sony X compact - F5321. Fixed it and want to report back for the next guy.
Same symptoms, noticed first a slow charge, phone was drawing low current and only responding to cable after 10 seconds of plugging in. I than checked for data connection, couldn’t get any. Opened it changed the USB port - BINGO - that fixed the issue, everything working nice.
TLTR: no Solution in Software, it’s a faulty USB-port. change it.
Have a nice day.

Phone confused about charging

Hi guys,
I haven't been able to charge my phone properly for a while - after reset when I plug in the original charger, it charges fast, when I unplug it and plug it back in, it charges slowly. When I unplug it again, it still shows the charging icon forever but it won't charge when plugged in. Factory reset doesn't help. The phone also randomly shows the USB moisture message even though it never got wet. Changing cables and power sources doesn't help.
Build MHA-L29 8.0.0.375(C636)
Thanks for any ideas!
Blow out the USB charging port on the phone. Also, use a toothpick to GENTLY clean out the port of lint and dirt.
And use app that tracks your charging speed. Try ampere In playstore.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that already. Is it possibly a battery issue? I wouldn't mind replacing the battery, which is cheap rather than replacing the phone because of such nuisance.

Thanks, good idea.
Ampere clocks in at -250 mA after reset. Goes to around 1800 when plugged in to a third party charger, which drops to around 300 mA when unplugged (phone indicates that it is charging). After reconnecting it goes up to 1000 mA. I don't have my Huawei charger at work but it's similar - at first plug in it charges fast, after reconnecting it switches to the slow mode.
You should use your original charger. And see if supercharge is working. If not. Give it a shot in a service center. Theyll fix your phone for free if you still have warranty.

Well, before replacing the battery, try this:
- turn phone off
- connect to original Huawei Supercharge charger and charge up until 90% or so
- disconnect from charger and turn on
Use the phone as you normally would until around 35-40% remains, then try connecting the charger. If the issue persists, I still believe it is a problem with the charging circuitry rather than the battery. Especially if we take the moisture in the USB port message the phone shows. Replacing the USB charging circuitry should not be a big problem AFAIK, it is connected to the motherboard with a snap-on connector, replacing it should be easy as disconnecting the connector, removing the circuit with the port and placing the new one in.
Yep, I guessed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4avHFWjsz4k
Are you having issues where the phone is displaying 30 or so percent battery remaining, but the phone shuts down?

That's a great point. I didn't know the USB circuitry can be replaced by itself. I don't have any issues with the phone switching off. It uses the battery all the way down to 1% or so. I don't see any erratic percentages. I'll replace the part and update you on what happens. Thanks!

Make sure your microphones still work. I had to replace my USB charging board (which also contains the mics) recently and the first one I tried had a bad mic. I could make phone calls just fine, but google assistant couldn't hear me. I got a replacement and both mics were fine.

I wish I could close this thread but a lot of weird stuff happened since I "fixed" the phone.
Since I bought the battery before I was told it could have been the USB board, I replaced the old battery too. The first charge was smooth and I drained the battery to 0 as recommended. I plugged it back in and it charged to 5% and stopped. I noticed a chemical burn smell that I later realized was coming from the USB circuitry. At this point there was no way to charge the phone but when tried to turn it on, I still saw the red charge icon. I opened it up and put the old defective USB board back in and I was able to charge it. Throughout the day I noticed weird battery drain that I saw recently before the replacement of the USB board. As usual, I tried to restart the phone to fix that but it won't turn on. The battery was at 85% when I shut it down. When I try to turn it on, it won't even show that red charge icon. Nothing. I can't put the old battery back to see if that's the problem, because I bent it during replacement.
Could it be a battery issue this time or is the phone just dead at this point?
