Error in Fingerprint Sensor - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my S6 suddenly began showing "an error has occurred with the fingerprint fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly restart your device." when I click on fingerprints in the settings menu. I haven't dropped it or poured water on it. I've tried clearing data/cache in settings >application manager >fingerprints but the issue persists. I've not done a hard reset or reflashed the ROM cause I'm hoping there's another solution first. Dialing *#0*# to check the sensor isn't working for me cause for some strange reason my phone does not work with the secret Samsung codes. Device :G920F running stock MM with arter kernel. I would appreciate any help i can get

Have you tried to trigger secret codes with the App phone Info?

Use it with stock kernel and see any difference.

Camera Failed

So a few weeks after I got the phone I started getting the camera failed message. I've tried every option I've had, clearing the cache, force stopping, removing the sd card, turning off smart stay, even hard resetting the phone and using the complete data cache wipe. Finally I took the phone to samsung and they did their software update/data fix thing and it worked. For about 10 minutes my camera was just fine. Then the error came again, but not as often. I would get the error once then right after the camera would work. So for most of the day everything was just fine. However, then towards the end of the day, it's gone back to how it was before with all error with almost no successful camera app use. I had shown it to samsung again and they were just stumped. They said to try a complete wipe, but I've already done that with no success.
I bring this up because I can't find any recent threads on this issue. Also from what I've seen it's a software issue so do I just wait for a fix for RMA the phone. Everything else about it works fine. Does anyone else have this issue?
Warning: "Camera failed" imposible to solve but dialing *#0*# the camera works
Hi, I have a problem with my front camera in the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F). It doesn't work and every time that I enter in the front camera appears the message "Warning: Camera failed"
The Rear camera works perfectly but since I've bought the S7 I never couldn't use the front camera
Here is what I have tried:
- Force Stop, Clear Data, Clear Cache, and Clear Defaults
- Clear Cache Partition in Recovery
- Factory Reset through Settings
- Factory Reset through Recovery
- Installed 3rd party camera app
- Installed another OEM ROM through Odin
- Repite everything
And the camera never work.
But.... by entering *#0*# into the dialer and picking Front cam the camera works perfectly and I can take a pictures. but through the app it doesn't work
Another thing that I can do it is, install the Dual-camera MODE and I can use the both two cameras at the same time although the front camera locks very blurry but it is another problem
I need to know if it is a hardware problem or a softwared problem. I don't know if I replace the front camera It will work.
Hi! I have this problem with my front camera I tried every option too and also install another Oficial ROM through odin but it didn't work
Did you solve it?
Try to put *#0*# in the dialer and test the camera. tell me if it works.

Fingerprint scanner doesn't respond

That's what I've recently encountered using the latest Marshmallow on my G920F. Fingerprint scanner had been working totally perfect until now. I tried various methods to get rid of the problem (but it still persists) such as: rebooting, wiping cache/dalvik, reflashing kernel, removing lock screen security and wiping Fingerprints app data/cache. Any tips or solutions? The phone neither fell on the ground nor got too hot so the hardware is perfectly fine. In the past the phone also couldn't connect to the fingerprint sensor once or twice but turning the screen off and on again solved the problem in every case. I could also try reflashig firmware (factory reset) but now I'm away from my computer (holiday) and would rather try to fix it on the phone itself as long as it's possible of course.

Carrying out a full firmware flash would be your 1st option as you've already tried a few things already, if that still doesn't work then it points to a hardware defect.

Fingerprint sensor stopped working

Hi all.
Last week my Moto g8 plus started to show message finger mooved too fast on locked screen randomly.
Then fingerprint sensor stopped working.
I have removed all fingers from it - no comments.
Now when I try to enable fingerprint sensor - it is not working. When cancelling the setup - phone goes into boot loop.
Did anyone have similar failure? Is it to be repaired by factory reset?
As far as I've searched similar problem appeared on Moto one vision but I haven't found any software solution.

I never had problem with fingerprint but you can try by factory reset ??* if it continues then install a new firmware
Did rescue with Moto rescue and smart assistant. Still the same story. Looks like it is hardware problem. I think I'm gonna request warranty service

Samsung Galaxy A51 Fingerprint Sensor Calibration needed

I have an issue on Samsung A515U
I already did factory data reset and upgraded to Android 11, nothing works.
I'm searching for firmware of Android 9 for this model and haven't found it yet.
Can anyone help me pls
Hello!
You can check the Samsung Fingerprint Sensor with Samsung Phone Code.
Just dial (like typing in a phone number) the Samsung Sensor Code: *#0*#
Then tap on Sensor, where you can check Samsung Accelerometer Sensor, Gyroscope Sensor, DL Magnetic Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor.
In the Fingerprint section, Tap on “Normal Scan” and see which tests it passes and which one fails.
This is just an information, you can't repair or change anything.
Your plan to downgrade to an older android version is NOT a good idea.
They made very important changes (filesystem, security, framework structure....) in the newer versions. You might brick your phone and can't use it anymore.
To improve your fingerprint take a look at this postings Speed up fingerprint
Good luck!
Thanx for answering
I've already done what you mentioned and didn't work. I checked the sensor dialing that code and it seems to be good
Same issue here... did you get yours fixed yet?
same here, I do factory reset but no fix.
why this happen ?
solution: I went to a service store and they replace the sensor.
The test reports that the sensor is ok (all tests show as PASS), but I still get the "Fingerprint sensor calibration needed" message.
How can I calibrate the sensor? Where can I find the procedure?

Well this looks like a problem faced by most Samsung users after updating their phones. There is no exact way to fix this since Samsung is yet to release a fix to this issue.
But you can try this:
Change your lock, to swipe to unlock, which will delete your fingerprint data. Then set up your fingerprint lock again, rescanning your fingerprints like you did the first time you set your lock screen options.
I had/have the same issue after installing a backup of one A51 to another A51.
All runs fine, but the fingerprint.
Doing a factory reset -> fingerprint is OK and working.
Using the copy on the "wrong" phone -> fingerprint is NOT working
So it's no hardware issue, but I have not found a solution yet
Try to reflash the whole system with Odin and get the software from samfw

Fingerprint error on normal Android --> solve that with installing a custom ROM

Hey guys,
i just did a factory reset on my Galaxy S7 (standard Android 8.0 from Samsung).
Before the factory reset the fingerprint sensor was working perfectly.
After the factory reset i get an error message when I want to safe new fingerprints.
I have to say that the home button is kinda scratched, thats why i get the error message - but it was still working with the saved fingerprints.
The error says sth like this (translated from german): "Please keep your fingerprint sensor clean and dry". As I said this is probably because the sensor is scratched.
After long searching on google I haven't found a solution for that so i kept on searching for different opportunities.
My question is, will a custom ROM like Lineage OS help on my error? Is there a way to safe fingerprints without having the sensor testing if everything is fine and just tries to recognize my fingerprints?
If you have any further questions to my problem just ask it. I am looking forward to your answers.
