Where to check the versions level? - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Mates, will you please point me to the guide about version numbers?
I have L29C185B190, is L29C185B320 newer version than myne?...
Is it worth to update?
I have EMUI 4.0, how would I update it to 4.1 ?
Sorry for these dumb quiestions, I just got new phone...
Thanks in advance!

320 is newer but its not without its bugs. If you have a stable experience on 190 I'd say hold off any upgrades, at least until we see what the final release of nougat looks like

Thank, bro.
What about EMUI update? Or it should be done with the whole image? Is there any guide to read?
I had Galaxy Note before, and a bit confused now...

I did mine with the full downloaded image, but if you have an ota available then you could just use that. At the time there was no ota for me

Sounds to me like a fairly typical usage scenario, but of course that's largely dependent on your usage habits, screen brightness, cellular signal quality, etc.
Depending on my usage I've observed anywhere between 6-36hrs between charges. Just today I got 15hrs (down to 35%) with only 4.5hrs screen on time

How much battery "juice" is lost while idle overnight in your Mate 7?

Hello to all good Mate 7 users.
I had posted my case with massive battery drain in my Mate 7 L09. It discharging while idle.
My unit is second hand and I received it after the guy who sold it to me did a hard reset. I thought everything was ok till the morning (days ago) I picked
it up and saw that it had lost 45% in 10 hours and a half, from 100%!
So far I've tried B137 (not SP03 in name) and the stock build from Huawei's site, coming from the build B127SP02 (customized by the operator). (What does it mean SP03, btw?)
But, the problem persists. It's losing energy at a 3-4.5% per hour in idle state (all battery saving tips applied).
In PC Mark battery work benchmark scores 4 hours and 20 minutes. Not too bad, and I know I can possibly get 5 hours of SOT, (my G3 scores 5 hours 17 minutes:victory
but other people are getting at least 5 hours and 30 minutes in the benchmark, and more than 7 hours of SOT.
What can be so wrong? I have now flashed a previous build: B121SP05 in hopes to see an improvement.
One curious things is that after I flashed B127 (customized by operator) to B127 (Huawei's general version) the device has lost Motion Control features,
its page remains blank. Its lost, don't know why. Any ideas? It won't come back as I flashed B137 and now B121SP05.
But the one million dollar question is: How much battery is lost while idle overnight (or any long idle period)?
This is the real question, I think, because in all my tests, no matter the build version, I have got l least 5 hours of SOT (17 hours of use in total), which is not bad,
but most people get at least 7 hours SOT (in some 30+ hours) I guess I use it too frequently?
So, that would be the main problem and question, the lose of energy in idle state, and why does it happen to almost everyone in more or less amount.
What do you think?
Please, people, do try to answer (and the poll too) and tell all of us. Thank you!

Why is people looking and not even giving a simple click to the poll?
Come on!
It depends..
If I leave wifi on or more apps running it drains upto 5% but normally 2%

Btw. In PC Mark with latest B317 build I got 8 hours with 9 minutes of battery life in its Battery Work benchmark!
How is yours doing at it?
Before, with B127 and B137 my Mate 7 scored only a very low 4 hours and 30 minutes, and a highest of 5 hours 10 minutes. But in B317 it's getting consistent 8 hours!
What a pitty the baseband is not compatible for South American countries like mine, Peru. I have to downgrade so I can use telephony...

APC8 battery life

Good day.
I have been seeing in some post that after March (APC8) update, because of some mess in android, S7 began to use much more battery.
Did anyone compare it in real life?
Is it worth to downgrade?
If yes, what other function will be lost after the downgrade? (couldn't find any firmware version changelog)
Thank you.
hi, there is a noticable difference in battery life and SoT, I could hit around 6H SoT with my 900F (exynos) with mid/high usage running APC8, it was a very good built.
running BPJ5 atm and hitting around 3H SoT, sometimes little more or less so... yeah i guess its worth downgrading if you dont mind some minor updates and Samsung Cloud, I upgraded mine a few weeks ago, because of Samsung Cloud support and theres Android 7.0 behind corner so I would update anyway. cheers
im still wondering how could Samsung ruin the battery life so bad and not fix it for more than a half year
Im running BPJE latest update. Im on 5hr sot with 18hrs standby

From what i have read, it is android source code issue, not Samsung.
Maybe with 7.0 Nougat upgrade and it's enhanced Doze, could be back to the old battery life.

we will see. what is really intriguing is that some users are just fine with post-APC8 updates, like falcon here, i dont get it, really...
I have debloated my S7, no GPS, no heavy gaming.. i just dont get it..
I haven't tried BPJE yet, and I might after seeing this thread. I've tried BPJ1 and BPH6 and battery life was horrible - about 3hr SOT. Switched to APC8 and battery life doubled.
Update: I've now updated to BPJE, and the battery life is really good. Almost as good as APC8. Performance is better on BPJE so it's a good compromise between battery life and performance.

Honor 6x Sleep takes 1% battery

Hello,
I am the new owner of a Honor 6x and the phone is absolutely great but i cannot have a decent sleep. It loses minimum 1% per hour.
This night, from midnight to 6AM, i've went from 54% to 48%, that sounds enormous...
Power saving mode is enable.
Phone has already been resetted.
I also updated last night to nougat.
I am in 3G since 4G is knowing to consume a lot, had this also on my previous phone.
Compsumption Level are Android system 20.85%
Android OS 12.76
Hardware side are Screen 21% and PHone Idle 7%
If i uses the 6x continuesly, i get easily 6SOT i don't know how to avoid loosing so much during sleep.
Thx, i am now performing a new factory reset for Nougat.
Wifi off when screen off is applied
Mobile network have been remained on but i do now change them in 2G.
I close all apps manually before closing screen.
I've tested and lost 1% in one hour with NO data and NO wifi..., the screen has been just very shortly checked 4 times...
I will compare after the reset.
Thanks.
By default, EMUI will kill a lot of background apps during sleep, so you shouldn't experience much battery drain. A factory reset may help you.

You can try apps like Greenify. It will help.

This is all because of the Nougat update.
Nougat update is draining battery faster than MM version.
Moreover officially Nougat has not been released for Honor 6X still.
Try to downgrade to MM for better battery.

Well u sound true , OP plz try to enable the option to close the apps automatically when screen off. Wil save much juice
Thanks, i saw everywhere else that closing apps in the background sound a good idea but is in fact asking more juice to the system.
I don't know what to think anymore.
i've did 6h14 SOT with about 55 minutes of gaming, brightness between 15-30 depending if outside or inside.
It seems that making full charging cycles (i've had the phone only since 3 days now ) is helping a bit.
Still, i am very far from getting 10 hours as i have seen in these forums

Well, 6h SOT is very good actually but, if people do get 10h is probably due to light usages!

Do the math. Additional 340 only. 8 hrs, maybe even and a half. You can only do that if you take away the core Android processes, take away cell radio, take away touch screen inputs, and there you go. With 3340mAh you might even reach 24 hrs of display time. I don't care if you don't believe me.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi 5s before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
With LOS you can get 6-7 SOT, and I consider that very good.
On average I get 5 hour sot. I would give 3/5 for battery.
It's indeed about average for its class. But the quick-charging makes up a for a hell lot.
9 hours so far. Not bad I'd say. I'm using the official AICP ROM, battery set to efficiency, not rooted.

I did a clean flash 3 weeks ago, first flashed China Dev Fastboot, flashed TWRP, then xiaomi eu, wipe everthing without wiping system partition. After this, every update i clean dalvik and cache, that's all. Maybe you need to do similar procedure in your phone or your battery needs replacement, I reccomend Losoncoer's one, my mum is using their battery in Mi5.
Hello to everyone and i'm sorry for necroposting,
I have a problem with my MI 5s, i took with my rom (MIUI Global 8.4.19) and stock kernel only 2 hours of SoT, do you have some suggest for me for have better performance(no problem to change ROM or Kernel)? (when i bought this phone i had 6/7 hours of SoT) , i have already changed my battery with an original one 2 weeks ago.
Thanks.
Install AEX with the latest China beta firmware, Magisk and the app ForceDoze.
Thanks for reply, but I can't install china stable because in that rom there isn't my language (Italian), any other suggest? Those apps work with global too?

Hi,
After one year of usage my Mi5s gets around 3 hours of SoT. Doesn't matter which ROM I am using (RR, Atomic, Viper, LoS, XiaomiEu) plus latest firmware. I think the battery may be depleted. If this is the case this is kind of sad.
Those of you that are getting more than 5h of SoT: How old is your phone?
Does anyone have any recommendation for a new battery from aliexpress?
Thanks

You can test your battery and find out your real battery capacity with AccuBattery. (Get the free version from Google Play.)
I have 89% capacity (~2850Mah) and I have my phone since September 2017.
On AEX 5.5 rom, I get about 4.5 hours of screen on time.
1 year and a few months later. Now Replaced the Battery.
1 year and a few months later. Now I just replaced the Battery. I replaced it with a new one because battery is depleted Accubattery estimation is 1,880mah from 3,100mah. Pixel 5" Battery's life

I've been using my pixel with everything stock (not bootloader unlocked, android stock, no root) and i was able to get 3(heavy usage)-4 hours of screen, after the june patch im just getting around 2-3:30 hours, what can i do? Ive been reading about to try the Android Q beta 4, should i try to go there for better performance? Or downgrade to May patch? Or maybe should i start doing root, kernels and those things if yes, in your experience, how can i get the best perfomance?

Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will wipe everything, so be prepared. If you're willing to do so, I suggest at least unlocking the bootloader, even if you don't plan on rooting. This will give you more flexibility down the line.

I am getting poor battery after June 2019 update as well.
It's says that Outlook app (from Microsoft) is one of the apps taking up the most battery but I don't think it is.
The playstore app constantly crashes and I think this is the root of the issue.

For my everything was ok, but battery was draining too fast, im on Q4 and its way better
Something change recently and battery life back to normal(not greatest but ok). I think it could be play store/ play services. My playstore app was updated to 15.3.14. I remember it was 15.2.xxx a few days ago.
Yesterday I updated my OG pixel to Android Q (June patch QPP4.190502.019), thinking that the battery would improve, but it has not been like this
In A. Oreo 8.1 the battery had a useful life of approximately 13 - 14 hours
In A. Pie 9.0 it had a useful life of 8 - 9 hours
and Now in A. Q 1.0 it has 7 to 8 hours of useful life.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

No way of checking. Usually after 250 cycles the battery will be 10 or 20 % less than when it was new. Just the normal course of daily use.

Nice expectations for Q on this device!
Although I am on June patch, rooted with Magisk 19.3 and using ElementalX kernel and I have around 5h of SOT everyday, even with location and mobile data turned on...
On the other hand, I do use Bluetooth very little and I use PitchBlack substratum theme which certainly helps.
Gaming on this is a rare thing, I only do it at home, on WiFi, streaming from the PC using Parsec (burns 40% of battery in about 30 minutes straight...)

You are WRONG! Modern smartphone batteries start to degrade after 500-600 cycles. If you won't let them down to <25-30% It will last 500-600 cycles. Then it will start to degrade, but not by 10-20% LOL % by %, Slowly. It will last about 800-900 cycles before you will need to replace it to get back good SOT. I still have nexus 4 with battery that i put in it 4 years ago. Until then it had it's original battery. It still works great. Well great for being nexus 4 getting around 2.5-3 SOT every day. But i am not using mobile data and i am not playing heavy games. Light gaming, low brightness, good ROM + Kernel, WiFi ONLY.
Today i got the original Google pixel 5". I will get my hands on it tommorow when i'll take it from office. I hope it's battery will be in good condition. Seller said it's in Good condition overall.
