Snapdragon firmware for usa g935u - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi community, this is a good forum for the SM-G935U as well.
Someone who have the G935U need to try the G9350 TWRP RECOVERY, it supposed to be an UNLOCK BOOTLOADER. I have 4 of the G935T phones but no G935U, also I have the original TWRP RECOVERY for G935T. Maybe that RECOVERY will work on the G935U model. There's a link for TMB-G935U firmware, Sprint SPR-G935U, Verizon VZW-G935U firmware and International G935U firmware. I will upload the latest firmware for US VERSION. ENJOY FELLAS!!!

These are carrier phones not unlocked G935u. Tmobile is G935t, ATT 35A, etc you can see the numbering. These are all locked bootloaders. And they have seperate carrier threads also.
Trav
PS: Can you Carrier people that are rooted use flashfire and flash kernels? Or is that broken? What about odin? I need more information if you want roms and kernels.

On t mobile. We can flash roms via flashfire but I don't think we can flash kernels cause our locked bootloader. Only 1 rom available for us on a carrier device. I would LOVE to see some new roms. Also I can be a Tester if you don't have one.

what if you flash a zip to update the kernel blob not the whole boot.img so ramdisk stays untouched? can you flash something like this in flashfire?

Not sure to be honest. We are using a sprint debug boot.img for root so I imagine it can be tweaked

Recently rooted a SM-G935T using the "High-on-android" tutorial. Battery and performance was horrible, until I flashed the Echoe ROM using FlashFire. Flashing the ROM also changed the model number to SM-G935U.

I mean v1.xx? v1.50 is the newest but isn't really ready for the G935t. I think 1.40 or 1.41 were the newest versions that work on tmo. The last time I used Echo it was an early version and it had a lot of issues.

v1.20. I've been running it for a couple of days. So far, the only issue I've encountered is with the internet browser's secret mode. Sometimes it hangs.

Does the Echoe rom use the U baseband? It must if it changed it or maybe the APK1 CSC MODWM file perhaps.

Baseband is now showing G935TUVU4APIA. I'm not sure what is was before, but guessing it didnt change because of the "T" in the G935T.

Okay so I have this Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge G935U TMobile Version.
What I NEED to know is when using Odin to flash these files which files go to PDA, or PHONE?
Is the AP file for the PDA slot or PHONE slot?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Will OTA to marshmallow destroy root and s-off?

I just got a refurbished m8 from insurance, and instead of using adb to root and unlock I had to use kingroot and firewater or sunshine..whatever it's called. I haven't been able to flash a custom recovery yet, but I have an OTA to upgrade to marshmallow.
If I upgrade will I still be unlocked and rooted?

You will still be unlocked but it will either fail to flash or you will no longer be rooted (it's easy to reroot though). If I were you I would upgrade by flashing the marshmallow ruu or if your interested in custom roms then just flash the mm firmware and whatever rom you like.

The 3rd link here will get you updated firmware (but not the os) + the latest TWRP and is flashable without a computer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/development/stock-m-firmware-nand-recovery-t3330972/page36
You don't necessarily need MM firmware for custom roms but it's recommended to have firmware that matches the software version your custom Rom is based on. I guess I assumed you were interested in MM based roms.

pardon my ignorance but I'm trying to figure out what RUU is. When I got my m8 2 years ago none of this existed I would use adb to do everything manually, now it seems like there is some new wave.
From what I googled RUU is specifically for LOCKED bootloaders (S-on) ? since my device is unlocked won't that ruin my phone? also how can I flash TWRP with just my phone?
my plan was just to flash clean rom back to my phone it's what I've been using, if I flash the mm firmware wouldn't that mess with functionality? does MM have any advantages over Loli?

All things Marshmallow

All the other threads are kind of scrambled, so I made this thread to discuss all things marshmallow.
OTA
The OTA is rolling, many of us have gotten it, and those who haven't should get it very soon.
WHAT'S NEW
-Wifi Calling
-Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
-Good Lock Support
-Battery Improvements with Doze
-Now on tap
-New app icons
-1 more bloat app
DOWNGRADE STATUS
I am happy to announce that after taking the Marshmallow OTA update, I have had NO ISSUES downgrading to PB1 using Odin.
ROOT
Root is here - only for unlocked bootloaders. Go to muniz_ri's thread for more info.
Locked bootloaders will probably never get root - Samsung have implemented dm-verity in the kernel - so modified system partitions will bootloop. The only way to get around this is systemless root - which requires a mod to the boot img, which is not possible on locked bl.
STOCK TAR
The stock tar is not available yet, but we're patiently waiting
UPDATE: It's on SamMobile.
PF4
Another OTA is rolling. This just fixed a small issue with unlock, and nothing else.
Post any questions/comments about MM below.

There won't be root for 6.0. As of 5.1 and continuing with 6.0, Samsung implemented a kernel check for any system modifications. The device will not boot when system is modified. A custom kernel is required in order to override the kernel checks which is out of the question for locked boot loader devices.
If you need root on this device you will have to stick with 5.0 or lower.

Oh, dm-verity. Or, damm-verity
Us with unlockable bootloaders should still be able to root mm, right? I dont see why not, the supersu zip can disable dm-verity in the kernel on unlocked BL.
Can you please confirm this?

Ok jrkruse and muniz_ri have rooted it. Unlocked bootloaders can go get root now.
I think this is my exit from the VZW S5 community. I've had enough constantly trying to battle all these locks.
How do I go about getting rooted/unlocked again if I set my phone back to stock to take the OTA. Do I flash PB1 firmware then downgrade to Lolli? I'm confused at this point, but am not horribly concerned if I managed to lose unlocked capability....

If you have TWRP installed, just flash a SuperSU zip (i.e. SuperSU 2.79 SR3) in recovery and you'll be rooted.
Unless of course you're talking about going back to Lineage and re-rooting. In that case, you'll have to use the Lineage root zip, which I don't have a link to.

It depends. It could be a .tar file you flash via Odin or it could be a flashable zip via TWRP. It depends on the maker of the file.
It's just the modem.bin file from the update. I don't have the time to make one for it right now.

On a side note, it seems like Verizon read the recent articles where the Galaxy S5 was still rated as the most popular smart phone being used on any network. Meaning, they are updating the phone monthly now, which is good news for us. We won't ever get Nougat but apparently we'll get Security Patches monthly now.

Since there no tut regarding an unlocked version of this update I simply updated from bpb1 to qa1 , just needed my modem to be somewhat up to date , but it seems that it's def a tx rx issue in my case , so my best bet is a custom kernel with that feature included.

I didn't think a tutorial was necessary as I've never had to give one in the past. If your device is unlocked, you should know it. That's the only reason there is a Dev Friendly version of the update. It won't unlock your bootloader, but it won't lock it if it is unlocked. That's the only reason I make a Developer Bootloader Friendly version of updates.
If you want to update your modem but not the firmware, open either of the files in 7zip/WinZip, extract the modem.bin, then repackage it as a .tar file and flash it in Odin.

In regard to your previous post, there is no problem with the MD5 for either file or any problem with the files themselves. I test them both before uploading them to prevent problems like this for people. I flashed the Dev Friendly version on both of my eMMc 15 S5's and experienced zero problems. The phone will hang on the "Verizon logo" for a minute or two at first boot but it will go past it and continue to "Optimizing" after that.
If you flash the Stock version, if your bootloader is unlocked, it will lock it and in order to re-unlock it, you'll have to use jrkruse's unlock method which requires you to go back to PB1. As of this post, he has not created a QD1 bootloader unlocker. The latest bootloader unlocker he has created is for QC2, which still requires you to have an unlocked bootloader prior to flashing it.
EDIT: Also, if you use an app like Package Disabler Pro to disable applications without root, it can cause updates to hang indefinitely at first boot if you don't re-enable all disabled applications and turn off/remove Admin rights for Package Disabler Pro prior to updating. I've experienced this in the past with both of my S5's and my S7. I'm not directing this at you KazuDante, this is just a warning to all.

No. The Developer Bootloader Friendly version is just that, friendly to devices with a Developer Bootloader. Meaning it won't remove Developer Bootloader status/lock the bootloader.
If I had figured out a way to help all of the eMMc 11 people unlock their bootloader, I would've made a thread that clearly stated that.
I think the only way people with Toshiba eMMc's will get an unlocked bootloader is if either
A: Verizon provides an update to unlock the bootloaders on all S5's AFTER they stop putting out Security Updates, which is highly unlikely since it is Verizon, they've never done it before, and there's no end to Security Updates in sight.
B: Someone at Samsung or Verizon leaks an engineering bootloader. This is the most likely scenario since it's happened before. First, in my experience, with the VZW S3, and the latest being with the S7. There's still hope but it may rely on someone from within Verizon or Samsung feeling bad for us.
Sorry
@Dudash Any idea how to go from the Dev-friendly QD1 version you uploaded to a TWRP flashable zip file which resembles the jrkruse VZW_QA1_STOCK_ROOTED_DEODEXED.zip? I really like to debloat and root before flashing. Thanks!

International Version Rom with Root S8+ work for att

Will a international version rom that already has root built in work on att variant as the att variant has a locked bootloader and international variant has unlocked bootloader? Aka a rom made for 955F that already has root built in.

Wouldnt work - 955F doesnt use the snapdragon chipset, and even if it did you would need custom recovery to flash the rom
I would just need custom recovery to flash root method cause there's only 2 methods right now international side 1 is the untested supersu and the other is the majisk method. The majisk method doesn't have any odin flashable tar files. Then as far as flashing the Rom I could just use flashfire.

I can confirm using the TMB Odin files that if you don't use a userdata or CSC (Just AP CP and BL) for the ATT, it works fine.

You need to download and flash the U1 (US unlocked) firmware first, fully wipe, and flash it. Then you can download and flash the TMB U (T-Mobile) firmware and flash it. You can get the firmware from SamFirm, Updato, or from other threads where users have uploaded them to make them easier to download.

Did you use the modded or patched ODIN from the OP in this thread? Did you enable Developer Options and enable USB Debugging? What firmware is your device on and which firmware did you try to flash? The bootloader version must be the same or newer (higher number) than what you are flashing over. U1 1ARBG for example can't be flashed over U 2ARC6. The bootloader version is the 5 character from the left in your build number in Settings, About Phone, Software Information.

There's no v3 bootloader for U1. If your already on v3, that's why it's failing. You need go wait for the U1 update. Probably some time next month. Someone in another thread said the U1 is only getting quarterly updates, which on the current cycle would be end of next month

Yes! 3ARG7 is bootloader v3, noted by the 3 in 3ARG7. Until U1 comes out with the v3 bootloader, you are stuck on your current firmware.

You have to flash the U1 unlock firmware then to t-mobile. Directly from one carrier to another won't work
