Hello, I need help to Disable the data usage monthly monitor. It doesn't let you choose a billing cycle, so it's pretty much useless, and once it's on there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off.
I would appreciate any help.
Clear data of Phone Manager?
That worked!!
Thank you JuffeX
Unfortunately that was the only workaround until now.
Thanks.

Hello, everyone!
I have recently switched to another mobile operator which has cheaper data plans.
I enabled an unlimited data plan that charges me 0,12 euros every 15 minutes of connection to the APN (plus 4,00 euros every six months) over HSDPA bands.
I'm looking for an app that works as a time limiter of data usage, so that I can set it to stop every connection (disabling the APN or calling another app to do that) when reaching a predefined amount of time for internet usage. I would set the limit to 1 hr/day = 50 cents.
I would be very happy if this app could also send notifications every tot minutes of data usage. I would set notifications to pop every 15 minutes = 12 cents. I realize that this is not a critical feature...
3G Watchdog would not help in my case, since I have an unlimited data plan and it's got no time counters but just data ones.
So, can you help me? Is there an app out there that performs the way I described?
Thank you very much in advance!
So there is no limit on data usage and only a limit on time?

Actually not. That's why I want to monitor my time spent over HSDPA, because it has no limits and I can forget about how much time I'm using a data connection and how much I'm spending!
[Should I give] UP?
I don't know if there is something like that already.
Looks intresting though, i will see how much work (and how fun ;p) it is and might get back to you.

Thanks, please keep me up-to-date!
Dont say thanks, press it ;D.
Your request looks possible, the problem is see is not with the app itself, but that services like email/gmail/sync will probably regularly use the internet connection and use up the time.
There are options to tell apps not to use internet while in the background, if the developer programmed right they shouldnt use it up .
I will keep you posted.
btw is there an english link to your carriers dataplan? i would like to read up on the fine details.

Done! As you know, we're limited to five thanks per day!

Yep, that's no problem. Since I activate APN manually, I also activate autosync manually with Extended Controls. Apps don't sync in the background unless I tell em to do that.
Maybe this app should be left running in the background and trigger the timer when APN is activated.

Actually not... this is the page, but I'll translate the important parts for you:
time-based navigation
50 cents per hour
surf up to 14,4 Mbps
just 4 euros every 6 months
Pricing applies to sessions. Every session lasts 15 minutes and costs 12,5 cents, charged in advance. In case of disconnection, the current session gets aborted and when reconnecting, a new session will start.

It's pretty simple and this carrier is crystal clear, so there are no hidden costs! Just in case they'll change the cost related to a session in the future, I think it would be nice for this app to let me set the price per session and its lenght.
Have you tried SPB Wireless Monitor?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spb.wirelessmonitor&feature=search_result
It cannot disable your data but it is able to gives off alarm depending on how you set it.
Hope this help.

Yes, it's a good app, though I have to tweak settings a lot since it was made basically for monthly plans. It doesn't let me set each session lenght and doesn't have an option for charging in advance, so I'm finding a way to "trick" it, because at the moment it's the only app!
Anyone know of an app that can tell me what other apps are using regarding net data?
Something's raping my data allowance slightly & i can't track it down.
this seems to track application data usage - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aloudroid.suividata&feature=also_installed
"track you 3G"
Thanks for that.
I did find this one http://market.android.com/details?id=com.likeee.trafficstats
So I'll compare the two.
Try 3G Watchdog
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog&hl=en
Just a general tip (not help with your request though) -
Leave your data connection turned off. Only turn it on when you actually want to use something.
Saves a massive amount of battery, and you will not have the worry of something eating your data allowance when you least expect it.
I also use net sentry. It is a basic 3g/wifi usage that does that and nothing but that. No extra useless features on it. Dont think it tracks individual apps though.

I thought I was on to something and I am not. Although my os usage has went down it was a placebo.maybe just toggling data off and on helps because that's pretty much all I did. I thought I disabled data monitoring in the data usage menu. I did not.
I've done my searching throughout this forum and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm familiar to a minor degree in coding but not that adept to the Android yet. The phone has been rooted.I was wondering what file if any I can delete or move in the phone that will prevent the phone from accessing data through the network. My kid has the phone and seems to forget to shut the data off and I'm getting charged like crazy for the surfing she thinks is through Wi-Fi.
Thanks In Advance, apologies if this has been answered already!
You suggest looking into Onavo or 3G Watchdog.

Thank-you for your reply. What I'm looking for is a way to disable the ability of the phone to cennect to the internet through the network. My kid uses the phone and is running up my data bill. I can easily tell where it's at through the providers web site. I just want it shut off completely so I it just can't connect anymore.
TIA
So you basically want it permanently disabled? You might be able to do that my changing the APN settings, but the easiest way would probably be to call the carrier and tell them to disable all mobile data on the account.

Actually, that was the first thing I tried, their suggestion as expected was to buy a data add-on. Wasn't very helpful. I'll take a look at the APN settings as you suggest and go from there.
Thank-you for your help!!
The Data traffic management feature seems to be useless as I cannot set a start and end of usage cycle date. This sucks for users who are on a data plan that does not reset on the first of the month. Also after setting the data limit it cannot be cleared???? This is madness. I was just testing the feature and now I cannot disable Data traffic management! I am on an unlimited plan. I set the data limit to 99999GB as I should not hit this limit. Hoping that I am missing something. Any ideas? Or is this just the way it works? Maybe Huawei can fix this.
Another user showed me how to reset and turn it off.
Go to settings, then apps and find phone manager. Then clear data and cache... This worked for me..
I downloaded a 3rd party data manager... It works good.

One way is to download QuickShortcutMaker from PlayStorer. Than go to Activities/settings/data traffic usage (or something like that it called). There hit the "try" button. It is going to open up the basic data traffic management, where tapping on the time you can set it now.
After doing this you can delet the QuickShortcutMaker and you won't need a 3rd party app.

That worked! I tested by advancing the phone's date to the new cycle. The shortcut to search for is "data usage".
