I thought I was on to something and I am not. Although my os usage has went down it was a placebo.maybe just toggling data off and on helps because that's pretty much all I did. I thought I disabled data monitoring in the data usage menu. I did not.

The playstore was working perfectly fine last night.
But since this morning I am only able to download/update the apps through Wifi only. It will just show "downloading..." and nothing really happen if I'm on 4g/3g network.
Please help! :crying:
Solved!! it was due to my setting on data capping..nvr know it will restrict the data way before it reached the capping though..
Thanks guys!

Hi All
I have strange behavior of my wife phone... From 2-3 month I see on her bill it something use 1KB of data per minute. Our local phone provider count it as 100KB. So its mean whole 500MB package was consumed for 2days.
My question is, Do you know application or way how to determine what consume internet for 1KB per min?.
Strange is, when my wife phone is at home, should use WIFI but in same time mobile data is still used...
Please help me with this. Any hint will be helpful
Thanks!

You can use this app: My Data Manager to check what apps are using the most data and how much have you used already.
Anyways if the phone is connected to wifi it will NEVER use mobile data while it's connected.
Wifi off = Data will be used
Wifi on and not connected = Data will be used
Wifi on and connected = Data will not be used

hmm strange. I installed "Onavo count" app and I see that "Android OS" use background data. Something like 90KB (for me 90KB is mean 9MB because is used 1KB for one minute and for all 1KB my internet provider rounded to 100KB). And during this time my phone was connected to WiFi but Onavo show me that this 90KB was used from my mobile package and on online bill I see that is true.
I tried to disable background data for this "Android OS" but it is not possible and only possible is to global disable. I disabled it for few application and tomorrow I will se what will hapend. Anyone know how to disable background data only for "Android OS"?? My wife have Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Adroid version: 5.1.1
Thanks!

Is that device rooted? If yes then you can easily limit anything using AFWall+
It's available on Play Store.
unfortunately it isnt rooted

Then I highly doubt you would be able to restrict something like "Android OS"...
Maybe you should consider rooting...

NoRoot Firewall - It creates a VPN that can block connections/apps you want. Does not work for LTE as of the time of posting this, but the developer is working on that.

You're welcome!
:highfive:
Just to add to this, my 'firewall' of choice is Opera Max. You can selectively block certain apps altogether, and it works to compress data on many apps. Apps that don't work well for data compression are things like SnapChat and streaming, in my experience.
Just an idea in case you're not happy with the above firewall mentioned or would want to save data in other places (note, you cannot use more than one firewall at a time due to only one being allowed to monitor the VPN)
Hello, I need help to Disable the data usage monthly monitor. It doesn't let you choose a billing cycle, so it's pretty much useless, and once it's on there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off.
I would appreciate any help.
Clear data of Phone Manager?
That worked!!
Thank you JuffeX
Unfortunately that was the only workaround until now.
Thanks.
The Data traffic management feature seems to be useless as I cannot set a start and end of usage cycle date. This sucks for users who are on a data plan that does not reset on the first of the month. Also after setting the data limit it cannot be cleared???? This is madness. I was just testing the feature and now I cannot disable Data traffic management! I am on an unlimited plan. I set the data limit to 99999GB as I should not hit this limit. Hoping that I am missing something. Any ideas? Or is this just the way it works? Maybe Huawei can fix this.
Another user showed me how to reset and turn it off.
Go to settings, then apps and find phone manager. Then clear data and cache... This worked for me..
I downloaded a 3rd party data manager... It works good.

One way is to download QuickShortcutMaker from PlayStorer. Than go to Activities/settings/data traffic usage (or something like that it called). There hit the "try" button. It is going to open up the basic data traffic management, where tapping on the time you can set it now.
After doing this you can delet the QuickShortcutMaker and you won't need a 3rd party app.

That worked! I tested by advancing the phone's date to the new cycle. The shortcut to search for is "data usage".
Any chance to bypass the location for the admin of the account? The app creates a second option menu that cant be accessed for the user, only by admin.
Even with no GPS signal, im afraid Googles locates you with A-GPS technology. But what if i root the phone and firewall all data traffic?
Thanks

Well, it should be good for me if i could switch off mobile data. By doing this no app (installed by myself or by the admin) is gonna send any data.
Then when i want to be "on location" i could switch on data, sync mail and that stuff.
BTW i dont know if google can access to the phone when its switched off, or when the mobile data is switched off by the user What do you think?
regards
