Need help rooting - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the ASUS tf101 transformer it's on 4.0.3 but I can't figure out how to root it. I've tried using ADB but windows won't detect it and when I install drivers it fails. Can someone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated. Also can someone help me put a custom recovery in? I want to install custom roms. Thanks in advance.

Did you install the universal naked drivers first?
Also minimal_ADB_Fastboot V1.4.1 setup.exe. This number will unroot in seconds.
Please understand it is better to make a mistake and learn than to not try first. Most of the folks here have made mistakes but tried. No one is going to do anything for you unless you try first. Just use search and search plus. I am not special or smart but after looking and reading I can do wonders with my Asus tf-101. Please be good to yourself and read, learn then do.

Yes I have it was a bad cable but I have tried to root and it just restarts my tablet and does absolutely nothing give me the one the worked for you and give me instructions because at least why I've been doing isn't working. Thanks in advance

usb won't mount

Hi Guys,
My friend bricked his phone some how (he's using the htc one s on tmobile) and I myself am using the evo lte, thought i could be of some assistance, but I'm stuck as well...wonder if you guys could help me help him lol.
so I performed the tasks on post #8 from on how to "fix soft-brick" in the sticky, but being able to only access bootloader, and twrp recovery Im at a stall. While in recovery, i go the the options to mount, it won't mount my usb so that i can bring over a rom to flash in recovery. So my problem is that the phone won't mount to my computer so i can bring over a rom i downloaded on my computer to the phone.
if i reboot system it sticks at the htc develop splash page.
Im pretty stuck and hope u guys can me help my boy.
P.S. i told him next time when you flash, always make a backup....cuz he was trying to flash a jelly bean wip (i don't even think it was a rom for his phone).
Thanks in advance guys!
bump, anyone kind to help me out with this?
Thanks again, hope to help him out, but Im at my wits end because i keep on getting running into the same problem.

You're going to either need to push a rom to his phone using ADB, or perhaps flash an RUU using Fastboot. Are you familiar with either process? There may be other options, but I'm familiar with both of these scenarios and can at least point you in a direction. Lemme know!
Yeah ADB push is your best option right now. IIRC USB mount in recovery does not work due to kernel limitation. (I could be wrong but remember reading about it)

I agree with him, I kinda had the same problem your friend had and adb pushing a Rom is probably your best option right now...

Thank you very much guys, I am not too familiar with pushing thru adb but have been reading up on it through the development section and am ready to dive in.
I very much appreciate the input fellas, will keep you updated with the status of this so that others in this situation can benefit from this as well.
Thanks again!

Ok guys, heres the update as promised. Mission to restore was success!
First, I tried to push thru adb, but it would never stick, would always get hung up. Given, being my first time pushing thru adb i probably did it incorrectly. In fact, I managed to push the rom over to the sd card once, but was unable to flash it from recovery (CWM).
Here is how i fixed the problem of being bricked. I relocked the bootloader, using the "all in one kit" and then i downloaded the TMOUS RUU, booted the phone into bootloader and then ran the ruu's exe. Within 10 minutes it was back to bone stock.
I hope this helps fix others with the same problems, if you guys need any help, feel free to hit me up.
Thanks guys for the suggestions and pointing me in the right direction...I couldn't have done it without your help!

Hey guys,
I've got a TF300T running the 10.4.2.13 update (so the newest JB) without root, and no nvflash which is bricked.
I've got APX mode, but that's as far as I've got.
Any suggestions?
Help's much appreciated

Indeed that help much appreciated, but one question before:
Have you tried to search and read a little bit before to post your request? I don't think !!
Because if you had searched a bit, you would have seen that a few posts of this subject have previously posted.

Jay, I think what the gentleman above was trying to say (in a more POLITE MANNER) was that it is preferable to post a question after taking some initial steps to Google and search the forums. It's OK to post a question, but people just want to see that you've done some work beforehand. UNFORTUNATELY, various forum communities seem to antagonize new posters by harassing them to search, without really answering the question.
Try reading Here to see if anyone has had a similar problem?
Sorry I can't provide more links, as I don't know what nvflash/APX is, nor have I had a need to use it. Perhaps someone else can post some helpful links?

I'm not the author of this process, but apparently it works.
I haven't tried, because I use terminal emulator for my adb command
Hi guys, thanks for the input;
I failed to mention I spent a fair while (to no avail) searching for anything relevant to sort my tablet out, had only come up with "send to ASUS for repair" - so that's my bad for not clearing that up
philos - it's 2:41am here, I'll give your suggestion a go in the morning and let you know how it goes!
opethfan - I'm in the same boat for not having a clue what APX or nvflash do, nor have I needed them in the past...
I find it weird that my tablet just /died/ one day. Kind of unfair!
Anyway, I'll have a crack in the morning - thanks for the input gentlemen!
UPDATE: No dice, I'll need to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine to get the correct APX drivers working for my tablet, good thing that I don't have uni tomorrow! Round two tomorrow!

And unfortunately no dice with Windows 7, so at this stage I think it's fairly safe to assume it's a hardware failure with my tablet. Called ASUS and they pick it up tomorrow, very friendly customer service!
Thanks for the help guys, when I find out what they determined to be wrong with the tablet, I'll be sure to post the result in here to let you know.

[Q] rooting SL101 with 4.0.3 and US 9.2.1.27.1

Have tried every program that I had found on these forums and it keeps giving me an error. If anyone would have any advice or instructions it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm confused as to if the SL101 runs the same software as the TF's but I really havent seen much on it.

I'm using SL101 and "1-Click Transformer Root"-Root/Unroot/cwm/stock rec-TF101(G)/201/300T(G)/SL101" is really working for me. Enjoy your new rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193
I know you said you have tried EVERY tool here, but your post really does not help much.
If you get an error in a specific tool, we will need to know what tool and what error you were getting.
AFAIK, you need to use a tool that uses ADB to root, not one that uses APX mode. I know EasyFlasher does not work on the SL101, but the previous post has a 1 click tool that has worked, and also PERI by Thing O Doom has been tested and works on the SL101.
Make sure you have the Naked Driver for ADB installed on your tablet. Using any other may be causing your issue.

[Q] [How To Root] Acer Liquid E1

hello,
I want to root my Acer Liquid E1 but the super one click is not working, are their any other tools?
Frank
You might want to give Bin4ry's rooting tool a shot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Also, make sure you have installed the correct ADB drivers for the device. I couldn't find any specific drivers for this device, but you might want to give these a try:
http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Acer_Liquid_E
Please let me know if you manage to root this beast. I have ordered it myself and would like to know.

I had download the driver from the acer site (http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...E1&Step3=V360&OS=a10&LC=nl&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_18) and the tool is telling me theat after a reboot the phone should be rooted, but he is not
but thanks alot for you replay
Have you tried Bin4ry's rooting method? he has made it to work on ICS/JB devices, and the E1 gets shipped with an next to stock JB rom here, I'll try it myself tomorrow and let you know what I find

Too bad this device isn't that popular yet. I believe it's one beast of a phone, there really should be more serious dev's, I don't know much about it all. I'll play with the adb drivers and see what i can come up with.
Hey I was thinking. Do you have flashtool installed? and with proper adb drivers that come with the install package (they can be found in for example C:Flashtoolrivers). I don't know about your experience with rooting and such, but you just might need to install the ADB drivers manually. If you want me to I can break it down into a few steps.
Brick3d
Ok I'll post what ive found so far now.
Recovery mode can be entered by powering the phone off, then hold volume + button and power button untill it vibrates.
how to get through menu's is self explanatory, and the recovery menu looks alot like CWM.
I have tried both SuperOneClick and Bin4ry's rooting tools, none with succes. Also have I tried to root it by using zip files and trying to flash them, but all said 'installation aborted', so no luck. I've found a chinese rooting tool for 4.1.2, I'll try that now.
If someone reads this, and is more experienced in system editing, cooking roms, and all other dev stuff; please leave a message and or try to get this one to succesfully root...
Brick3d
Rooting
Another message to everyone having this beautiful phone and willing to root it....DON'T!!!!
Really, don't even try the stuff i've mentioned here. Somewhere in the process I managed to brick my device and I can't do anything due to no other developers for this phone. Just wait.....
Follow the guide made by Paul from Modaco for the Gallant (SuperRecovery part) but use this package. (Include updated flash tool, repacked recovery for E1 and right scatter file)
Vache, the tutorial on that part says to pull out the battery, then connect the phone, then install usb. I did this, installed the mediatek blabla drivers you provided, clicked recovery, then used the recoE1-superuser.img, then clicked download. at this point im stuck because now the program keeps saying 'Loading'
Thank you
Perfect. Acer Liquid E1 rooted. Thanks and gratitude to Paul.

[Q] ClockWork Mod with ZTE Supreme

I know this isn't a top phone right now so the available dev work will be VERY limited but I need to install custom recovery on this phone. My device isn't listed and shows it has no support for it so can I force a new recovery image manually? If so do I need to back-up my old recovery image first? I did some researching and couldn't find a clear guide on how to install it manually or if there was any risk involved. I appreciate all the help
Anybody know anything about this?
