USB Hub - Google Pixel XL Accessories

Hello Everyone,
I am waiting for my Pixel XL to come in and was going some accessories shopping. Has anyone tried or can verify USB hub support?
Something like this is what I am thinking https://amzn.com/B01EAIV5H4
It states that it works with a 6P so in theory it "should" be fine.
Does anyone use a USB hub with their pixel? Recommendations for multi-port hub?
Thanks,

Wow if that works, that would be nice.

This works great on my pixel C: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015E54IW6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can verify it works on the Pixel XL when i get home. I wouldn't expect it to work differently though.

Anyone tested this kind of cable?

Hello guys! I'm willing to buy micro hdmi to hdmi cable, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-High-Speed-Micro-HDMI-HDMI-Cable/dp/B003UH0Z9Q
Has anyone tested this kind of cable yet on Blupure XL or Allview X2 Xtreme ? Would it work ? I want to use this cable on non smart lcd tv's. If anyone tested this and works, let me know please.
Thanks! :good:
I've never tried but this could be interesting if it works

No it will not work.. Pure XL does not have a micro HDMI port, so no where to hook it into-
"High-speed Micro HDMI to HDMI cable, A to D type; please note, this is not an MHL cable"
this cable does NOT have usb > HDMI functionality...
you need a MHL cable for that
try something like this:
http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8675
(theres numerous ones on amazon, but they all have specific phones listed, mainly samsungs, but MHL is a standard that a lot of phones use...)
I have a similar one that I couldn't get it to work or even recognized on the PURE, but my HTC One m7 sees it but doesnt consistently work (it recognizes then doesn't.. bouncing between the two)
let me know how it works out
Well that seems obvious finally... I didn't saw that it was a micro HDMI and not a micro USB...

Awesome, thanks for advice. I'll try this very soon. MHL should work because i've searched a few tutorials on YT and every cable is MHL, didn't notice that before. Thanks a lot.
just to reiteriate; mine doenst work on my pure, and isnt recognized by it
I don't believe the phone is MhL capable either.
As far as I'm aware its only options are wireless casting.

Wireless Casting has a lot of delay, it's no good for gaming.
Is there another way to do this without delay?

No, if it's the only option it works that way. The phone doesn't have any other outputs that I'm aware of.

Samsung HDMI Adapter
The Samsung HDMI Adapter, USB Type-C to HDMI, works perfectly with my Essential PH-1
Care to elaborate why all other Choetech hdmi products won't/don't work? "Confirmed by email" is not very helpful.
The travel inspira hubs listed do not work for HDMI out, at least not with Oreo beta 2.

I emailed them asking why the adapters I bought weren't working on my Essential, and they told me that the phone isn't supported and they also don't have any adapters that support the device. I don't know why though, they didn't/couldn't give me an explanation. The email is in a pretty bad German, so you probably won't understand it, but I'll attach it anyway for reference. Sorry for the vagueness, should have made that clear at the beginning.

I got this one, but based off of another user indicating it woks, but that was on 7.1, not 8.0. I recently saw in another (or this) thread someone bought another adapter that someone said worked, but wasn't working for them on the beta. Makes me wonder if it's broken on the beta...
Mine definitely works with the beta, too.
The LeEco usb c earphones also works
I think I determined why this may not be working for some, your TV or monitor. The travel inspira hub will not work on any of my samsung TV's, in the MHL port or otherwise.
However, it does work on my Samsung S27E330 monitor. This leads me to believe that the TVs do not have the most recent version of MHL, and thus will not work. This is kind of a bummer because I intended to use this on my TV in the living room, but at least I can confirm the device does work with Beta 2. I have not returned the legacy adapter, so I will test using that as well and report back.

Interesting observation. I tested the adapter successfully on the HDMI 1/MHL port (didn't check the other ones) of our Samsung Smart TV from the C series, which is from 2010 I believe..
But I also think the issues that some people mentioned with normally working adapters are issues with the display device itself.

USB hub with Ethernet

Can anyone recommend a USB hub (preferably USB c) that has Ethernet and works with the pixel c? I bought a WeMe hub that has Ethernet, but my pixel c doesn't recognize it all (my mate 9 does though). Any recommendations? There are lots out there, but I want to make sure it will work.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Well, I went ahead and bought another one. This is the page it came from, though it seems to be gone: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07538HPD9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It works perfectly. It was a TICTID QA-H01E (3 port usb 3 hub with an ethernet port). I have to use it with a usb 3.0 to usb-c adapter, but it only cost $6 when I bought. Not sure if it will come back to amazon or not.
There is already a thread on this subject. All you need to do before posting is search.
Anker has one that works with the Pixel C.

Thanks for the reply. I did quite a bit of searching first. No threads specific to this subject came up. There was a thread about power delivery and hubs and one about wifi dongles that mentioned hubs. Someone provided an Amazon link to a hub, but when I followed it I got a product page for a record player. There was a thread from 2016 that mentioned the Anker hub. I was hoping someone would chime in to confirm it still works. I'd be interested in hearing about other hubs as well.
If you gave a link to the previous thread on this subject, please post it.
Thanks.

Android Auto Cable

Ever since getting my Pixel 2, I've had trouble finding a USB Type A-to-C cable that works reliably for charging and/or data connections. Now the one that I've been using for Android Auto in my car seems not to work consistently, and I'm leaving on a trip in a week where I was really counting on using AA for navigation.
Can anyone recommend an Amazon-stocked cable that is known to be suitable for this purpose without any problems? Seems like a simple thing, but apparently not! I'd really like one that clicks in positively, as well as having the proper connections, wire gages, etc.
Can anyone help? TIA.
This works when connected to my pc and a charger but is not fast charging because fast charge only works on c-c cables.

A slight drift in topic. But has anyone had experience with the newer wireless Android Auto head units? With the units themselves being new, and with only a handful of compatible phones out there, there's not much info on the interwebs yet.

I use this one, the 3-feet version. It works fine, just the right length. It is a two-pack, so you can use one for your car and one for your PC.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerL...bp_QL65&keywords=anker+usb+c+cable&psc=1&th=1
Here's what I use in my car. Haven't had any issues with it since I got it last year.
Nonda ZUS USB-A to USB-C
I've used several. Here's my current and is my favorite:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4OKUB8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is better than the Anker ones I've used and the iOrange ones (which seem to get loose quickly, and especially in the summer heat). All are better than the stock OEM one from my original Pixel
I've used these in my truck with a 6P and my Pioneer head unit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076KC16B5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Three lengths in one package, very sturdy cables, never had a connection issue.
Change USB settings to enable Android Auto
Hey everyone,
I just got Android Auto installed via my Mazda dealer on my Mazda Connect infotainment system. Using my Google Pixel 2 XL, it was working fine for two drives and then stopped out of nowhere. I thought it was the USB 2 to USB C cable. Ordered 3 cables, and they still weren't working. Then I lucked out when trying to clear my phone's system memory by finding the USB settings and now Android Auto is working just fine with my cords again. [Facepalm]. At least I have several backup cables now. The steps I took are below (if you have the correct cable):
1) Swipe down on Android to access "settings" cog [bottom right typically]
2) Type "memory" into the 'search settings' bar at the top.
3) Select "Memory - System > Developer options". . . It should be the first result after you've searched.
4) Scroll down to and select "Default USB Configuration" . . . Under the 'Networking' section.
5) Select "File Transfer"
Might have to reboot, but that was it for me! Hope this helps.
I bought a BlitzWolf BW-TC9 and I have absolutely zero issue. I had disconnect issues on my OnePlus X with every cable I tried. I was afraid that the situation will be the same with the Pixel 2, but no, it's fully stable. If you are in Europe you can give it a try.

Question Ethernet Hub for Pixel 7 Pro

I have tried 2 different Ethernet adapter/hubs with my Pixel 7 Pro. They are: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LCHDRP9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W52R8KY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details These will not allow the Ethernet tethering setting to activate on the Pixel 7 Pro, although both work instantly with my Samsung. I need one that will put a mouse pointer on the phone's screen and allow the use of a keyboard, and may need power input, unless I can power it with the phone upside down in the pixel stand. If nothing else, a working plain Ethernet adapter, and I will use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Google sells one for their 4k chromecast, but they fail to specify if it will work for Ethernet tethering on the Pixel 7 Pro.

I haven't been able to get anything to work with stability on either of my two docks so I don't have a large enough selection to make a definitive statement on the support, but the farthest I've gotten is using my dock that has an RTL8153A-4. It will work for a bit, but when pushing enough data it'll end up resetting. Hits up to 400Mbps but then it drops out. That's par for the course with early RTL8153 chips. It's also a terrible dock and the seller has been banned from Amazon for one reason or another, so can add that on too.
On the other hand I have a more modern Yottamaster NVMe dock that I use with my Steam Deck and it works great. Surprisingly, it is almost fully functional on my phone except for display (obviously know why) and Ethernet. It's using the RTL8153B-2, but I can't get any data to pass over it. The r8152 kernel driver reports that it can't load the firmware, because the phone doesn't have any firmware from linux-firmware outside of what is needed for the hardware internally. Both the kernel driver and Ethernet system report when a cable is connected and the carrier is on, but nothing makes it over the cable.
The first dock you linked also has an RTL8153, so at this point I'm guessing newer revision RTL8153 support is just broken on the phones without the ability to load firmware for them. The second dock you linked inspires some confidence that it will have an AX88178 controller in it, but I've looked at docks recently on Amazon and ones that list AX88178/AX88179 are apparently silently subbing them out for the RTL8153 according to reviews. You're going to have to plug it in to your computer to check what the Ethernet controller shows up as.
Best course of action I can see is to either try to find a dock with an AX88178 in it if your second dock actually has an RTL8153 in it, or get an older USB 2.0 RTL8152 adapter since those are more reliable although that restricts you to 10/100.
It's a bit of an older model but I have been using an Aukey CB-C71 with a Pixel 7 Pro and previously Pixel 6 Pro with ethernet, USB-PD, USB keyboard, and USB wireless mouse. I have used USB PD with everything from the original Nexus 6p chargers to various Windows and Mac laptop chargers without issues.

I'm curious, do you know what chipset the CB-C71 uses? I have another adapter on the way from Amazon, if that doesn't work out I may try the CB-C71 or a device with a similar chipset.

RTL8153B-2, interesting that it doesn't have any issues.
I found an adapter that works: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGHKLSPG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It is gigabit, with power port. It works without its power plugged in and the phone upside down on the powered pixel stand. I would still like to buy a real hub with gigabit ethernet for the P7P, if someone finds one.

That meets most of my specs. The problem is only 4k 30hz HDMI. If I want to use it with a 4k 60hz device that can use the HDMI output, (obviously not the crippled Pixel line) I would be downgrading.
