I have been trying the samsung gear 2 for a week now. Perfect for me. I am wondering if the Gear Fit works the same. I am interested in notifications and step counting. Is the gear fit also waterproof?

I previously had the Gear 1 and it was pretty good, not exactly what I wanted, but it was better than I was thinking. I'm wondering if the Gear 2 is any better if it's worth getting?
What would you say? Gear 1 or Gear 2?
The Gear 2 is what the gear 1 should have been

I just ordered the Gear 2 but now I'm having second thought. Is Gear 2 dying product? No support from Samsung anymore? Is Gear S is new version of Gear 2 or Gear 3 is coming out soon? I'm thinking whether i should cancel the order and wait for Gear 3.
i'll primary use Gear 2 watch for fitness. Sometimes phone call and notification too. I don't like the Gear Fit and Gear S is huge for my taste.

I would suggest finding a place where you can try out the watch, having the latest doesn't necessary mean the best. Samsung is very limited on after sale support, there has been update to the watches but they dont have a consistent environment between the gear S and the gear 2 which has confused third party developers. The news of a new watch is also limited to probably launched with the new Note line. The new one will be circular as well adding another level of complexity for third part developers to make apps.
The advantage of the gear 2 is the camera, no watch does that and is the only reason to get it right now. there is no info that a new watch with a camera is coming any time soon. there are other watch that are cheaper that will give you the same functionality, like the gear live.
hope this helps,

There is no any real official news regarding Gear3 but it seems Gear3 will be on Android Wear OS if there is one, so it is a completely different division. On the other hand, Gear2 and Gear S are both running with Tizen OS. Gear Fit is RTOS I think mainly relay on your phone power and OS.
Well, Gear S is here..but it doesnt have camera and IR as Gear2[hooray!] So Gear 2 is not really dead. Tizen is dead, however. biktor_nj(hope didnt spell wrong) at Development thread is porting Android Wear to it. So above all it is not dead
Trying to decide between these two smartwatches and I'm leaning more towards the S3 for the samsung pay ability and was wondering what others chose or if there were any problems with said devices.
I currently have a Gear S3 with a Nexus 6p, and love the combo. It works flawlessly with everything out of the box, with the possible exception of marking messages as read on your phone when you read them on your watch. Otherwise, the Gear S3 is amazing. I had a Moto 360 (i.e. Android Wear) before this and the OS was awful compared to Tizen.
picking up the s3 today had a moto 360 also thnx
I would also recommend the Gear S3 over any Android Wear watch at the moment. Nothing comes close to the Gear S3 with anything using Android Wear.
My Gear S3 is to large for my wife and she has been trying everything but one that works like mine. She wants a speaker and the ability to be able to answer & respond to phone calls on her watch.
It appeared that the prior S2 had a smaller size but we have been unable to find one to see if it fits what she is wanting.
Looks like Samsung is in the mode of "Bigger is Better".
Does anyone know if there are any of the S2 with "answer & respond" phone capability available new anywhere??
She keeps dragging to look at digital watches that just don't fit the need, but most of all I want her to have a Samsung and get away from Android OS for a watch. Had one before and it was okay but did not and does not compare with the Samsung OS.
Did you saw SM-R600 ... Gear Sport ?
I like the black variant...
Best Regards
The Sport doesn't "answer or respond" to calls on the watch! If I am wrong on this, please let me now.
Sorry, I read only:

Yes, the Gear S2 is smaller. At least the Tmobile LTE. I swapped mine for the Gear S3 Frontier LTE.
Yes Gear S2 is fine for smaller wrist. But be carrefull there 2 type of watch : normal without speaker et 3G with speaker.
I decided I wanted to upgrade my 46mm Galaxy Frontier for the 46mm Galaxy Watch4 Classic (both wifi and bluetooth only). After the initial pains of getting the watch to setup (had the issue many have had with transferring Google account to the watch) I have to say I am very pleased with the watch. The Frontier had more free watch faces available to it, but once I found a good watch face I liked, I paid for the premium version and am quite happy. Everything has functioned as expected except I cannot get the MyHyundai app to load on the watch, but this is not an issue with the watch but with the app (already have a trouble ticket in with Hyundai Blue Link on this). The one surprise I have had is the Bluetooth. The Watch4 has a much better range then my Frontier. It looks good and works smoothly. Functions as it should and makes me happy to own it. Since getting the Watch4 I have changed the band to a metal bracelet (I prefer them), added a glass screen protector and a watch guard.
I have been reading the forums and have seen some of the issues people have had (screen spots, gps, etc) but I have had no issues with mine. I have it paired to a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (also working flawlessly) and have so say the pair are excellent.
