[APP][4.4+] LVoicemail - Android General

Greetings!
Few months ago a friend of mine ask me if it could be possible to create a Voicemail App that allows to:
Answer the call automatically
Play a pre-recorded voice message to the caller
Start recording the voicecall
Save the conversation to a local audio file
Then I started the development.
It acts like an auto answering machine.
In Italy listening Voicemail costs something at each call, so this friend of mine would like to get a free voicemail service (obliviously it doesn't work if the network is not available in that moment).
At this moment the App is 65% done and it works well on three different devices (Stock and Rooted) but me and my friend are the only two people that are using it.

Here I leave a poll because I would like to know if it could interest someone else.

But, how it works?
I mean... Their can hear anything when the phone take the call?

Obliviously not because the microphone is muted.

Very interesting project. Would love to try it.

I like.

Would love to try it out bro. It seems a really good idea. Keep going on. You can mail me your app so that I can try it as well.

Hello,
This thread had to be moved to Android General because there are no links to an app. Placeholder threads are not allowed in the Android Apps and Games section. Once you have valid links to post, feel free to contact any moderator for this section or report the thread and it can be moved back.

It doesn't seem someone is interested.
The poll was viewed by 200 people but only few voters...
LVoicemail is done at 70% at this moment but a I'm not much interested to continue in the development if poll result is something like this.
Waste other many hours is not what I'm interested to do.

emandt, I shared your post at Facebook, Google Plus and Twetter. I think we should announce this project to groups.

What did you expect?
Thousand of people that's interested in an phantom?
I bet, if you finally finished it, they will come. But grow with your project and don't stop doing your stuff bcz of other guys. It will be nice to see you app and test it. But if you stop developing it it's your decision!

I was wondering if the App could interest others.
I already have developed few other Apps that I use for my own only, but them are a lot specific for my needs and I'm sure them don't interest others.
LVoicemail was requested by a friend of mine and I found a lot of different people that were interested in similar things in the past (few years ago) so I create this poll to understand if people are still interested in an answering machine.
I choose to develop an App if it could be used by someone, not just to waste my time...and finishing the remaining 30% will take a lot of time because I'm a Programmer and not a Designer. In fact from now most of the time will be "wasted" in draw interfaces, choose of colors for many visual components, move/choose layouts, translations in different languages, set animation for fade in/out of visual components, draw icons, test all possible user cases to avoid bugs when the "dummy user" will touch randomly buttons without a specific pattern, etc...
As many Programmers I could write hundred rows of code each day but if I have to draw/create an icon it takes few days for me.
So finishing this App takes more time than develop all main features, so you can understand if I'm worried to not waste my time (I have other ideas for other Apps that I would like to start developing).

You are missing the point. This is not an official Android or even Android phone forum. A lot of potential users, in fact, vast majority will never see this thread. It will only be seen by people who really need something like this. This is me! I would be more than likely first downloader, and if we're talking about an app where I can create custom rules, one for witheld numbers [Hi, I am not answering hidden numbers. If you'd like to talk to me, reveal your number and call back.], another rule for numbers range [Hi Marketing, I am not interested in your products, don't call again.], another for crazy ex [**** off *****!] and last rule that doesn't fit any other criteria [Hi, I am currently on a meeting, please leave a message after the tone.]. I will be more than happy to pay for it, any time! Don't scrap the project just because people don't vote for it, release it and I am sure you will get a good response because there is nothing like this out there.

Registered on forums just to tell you: yes! there are people who would like an app like this - there are a few apps on market but it seems they don't work properly.
I think some users will need that kind of functionality.
Please share your app somewhere to try it. Thanks in advance!

Yes, Lots of ppl interested in this project, Once you post test version of beta, You will see.
Please share the app

Had to login just to say yes to that poll lol . And would like to say I have been looking for this type of app since the old symbian days. It was possible back then but not now. So we need someone to make an app that actually works. And once you have posted it somewhere you'd know for sure how many are actually looking for it. Post it already ✌. Atleast some pre release beta of a beta so we know you actually are working ✌

Please keep awesome project, pro! Thanks your work and cheer

I would be really interested in such a project, and available for testing or help (if there's something I can do in this regard). Please keep coding / development alive!
I'm Italian too.

I would also be interested in an Answering Machine app which is currently missing from the android ecosystem!

[REQ]Read It Later App for WM

I use the Read It Later extension for Firefox heavily, and have always missed an WM App that would allow me to read the pages I've marked on my phone.
Well, since I've bought the HD2 I've missed this even more...
Now, it seems that the folks that makes RIL released an API so that anyone can make its own app...
There's an official one for the iPhone, a user made for Android... and none for WM.
I've tried to make one myself, but its way beyond my "search and learn with Google" programing skills.
This way, I want ask if someone is interested or is capable of doind a Read It Later App for WM, HD2 customized, using their API.
The site is here: http://readitlaterlist.com/
It would be really nice to have a "Instapaper" like app for WM...
Thanks in advance!
Request seconded.
without looking at exactly what this is. do you mean an offline browser? if so then opera has the function built in.. saved pages

It's not only saved pages...
It's like Instapaper for the iPhone.
You mark a page to read later in RIL Firefox, for example, and then can access the link throught the app in the phone to read it.
The good thing about RIL is that you can mark a page in your desktop and it sincronizes with web, so, as soon as you open RIL in the phone the page is already there.
The advantage here is that you can mark pages to read in multiple PCs (I use in Vista/7 installarion in my notebook as well as XP/7 in my desktop) and still have a unified list.

It is very nice.
ATM i'm using the web version, with the shortcut readitlaterlist.com/unread . When you create an account, this shortcut will lead you directly to the reading list.
Putting Opera zoom in 100%, it fits right in the screen.
But it lacks a lot of features. It is actually just a list of links. You have to manually check read itens, press and hold the link if you want to open in another tab.
What I miss the most is some options to store the pages for future references. Now I have to manually do this... It would be nice if the app allow us to send the pages to another apps...
I hate to bump my own threads, but no one can help me?
Can someone at least tell me what programming language would be easyer to make such an app?

Thanks anyway... I'm kind of resign that this won't be done.
Using the web version. Not perfect, but does the job.
I have not used this application/service before, but it looks interesting.
I have checked the API and it looks very simple to use.
The only thing that remains before starting to code is to have a rough design of the application GUI, just to set a rough scope on the functionalities.
Then I believe it is possible to create an "ugly" but functional application in a few days. I can work on this project if I can manage to allocate some spare time on this.
zefiltrin, I think you know the usage scenarios of this application way better than me, as I have not yet used it. Why not make a few sketches for describing the GUI of the application you want to see on your PPC. I mean the buttons, lists, etc. Then I would try to realize them (again, if I can manage to allocate some spare time on this)

I´ll do that! I'm travelling until april 4th, but will try to do that as soon as I come back.
I think I´ll use some of the screeshots of the existing apps for iPhone and Android.
Thank you for your help!
Well, here are some ideas:
I think the home screen should look like iPhone's Read It Later app:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The list of things to read could be similar to GReader site, with big letters, two or more lines to allow seing the whole title:
In the "Greader-like" list abobe, there shoud be a search bar and the buttons to direclty mark as read or show the text only view, like this:
Finally, it would be great to have the sharing options like iPhone app (don´t know if the API allow that):
Let me know if this helps...
Ok I will spend some time on this tomorrow.
I started working on this project, I call it "Late Reader" for now. Any better name suggestions are welcome. I think I can post a first beta or alpha in a week.

[CONCEPT] Nexus Q: Q-Dash - Completed

}
This is something I had an idea about as soon as I saw the Nexus Q. I saw the potential this device has, however the current setup is just lacking. Good thing is hackable and runs Android though.
I am not a developer, I just come up with concepts in the hope that either Google or a developer will like the idea and begin to implement it.
What is it?
The Q-Dash is a customisable dashboard powered by the Nexus Q. Every morning, we wake up and check our phones for the latest news, weather, Facebook updates etc. If you can get it on your phone, its likely that we will check it.
However, you have a Nexus Q, why not put all that information onto one screen.
When your alarm goes off, your Android Device sends a command to the Nexus Q to power up the Q-Dash.
Q-Dash is your daily dashboard of all the information you check in the morning and its fully customisable. It can give you any Google Now Card, the latest breaking news stories, RSS feeds, Facebook/Twitter information, Live TV or Audio Streams. Q-Dash also shows you notifications you might have missed during the night.
How does it work?
Q-Dash is a completely 'hands free' experience from the moment your alarm goes off. When the alarm is activated, your Android device automatically listens for your voice, enabling you to snooze or dismiss your alarm without getting out of bed. Once it receives the dismiss command, your Android Device powers the Nexus Q on in Q-Dash mode.
From then on, your Android Device listens out for a hotword. When it hears this hotword, it activates the speech recognition so you can control Q-Dash.
Ask it to show you your RSS feeds from the Google Blog, and thats what it will do. Ask it to read you an article from a RSS feed - it'll do that as well.
Change the Livestream, post a Facebook/Twitter update, see the weather forecast, check your daily agenda or go to your favourite website - Q-Dash can do all this an more. It also has the compatibility to launch Q-Dash optimised applications from your device, right onto the Q-Dash. So if you want to see your favourite news application on Q-Dash, just ask it to launch. If the app is Q-Dash optimised, it'll launch for you.
If you have multiple Nexus Q's in your house, you can take Q-Dash with you. Simply tap your phone on any Q-Dash to bring it up. Q-Dash also knows when you have left your house, so can power down the Nexus Q automatically.
If you like this concept, don't forget to click Newsworthy in the top right and share this around the web!

Dude, all I have to say is the concept sounds pretty awesome. However, and this isn't the fault of Q-Dash at all...unless if the Q gets a lot more functionality, and quickly, I doubt too many people are going to be paying $300 for a gimped device. I mean, it's a networked media consumption device, but it can't even do local streaming of audio or video (at least not natively, and I haven't seen anything 3rd party that can do it either).
Three times expensive than Apple TV,I'm not sure it's worth enough
Yeah I best you.
Its been hacked to runs apps hasn't it so things like this shouldn't be to far away
This is an amazing concept for the Q! I can't wait to see where this goes! This is the future!! I just picked my Q up on ebay today. For those of you interested but not wanting to pay 300+ tax check out ebay. I got mine for 195 and saw them come and go for 170-210 from the Google I/O folks. Following this thread and can't wait to see where this goes! This just made me 1000 times more excited about picking up the Q.

My vision would be for either a developer or Google to jump on board and develop it as its only a concept. If I had the time in my life, I'd sit down and attempt to learn Java and see what I could do myself, however I have pretty much no free time at the moment
Congrats!

[idea][question] xda app market

I know this isn't a new idea or question. But why isn't there a (free) appstore for xda where developers can upload their apps all in one place. Similar to what dividgiga did in his thread (found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720944). But would have categories for more devices. Even specific ones. Could have apps, ROMs, kernels, games, mods, anything downloadable. With xda's support they could even implement a feature on the site that when a developer makes a thread and uploads his work on the forum it will give a prompt and ask if he wants it automatically uploaded to the store. I have searched for similar ideas and found that's one place where they failed. People not uploading enough items to the database. Having a prompt for it to automatically be added to the store would [in theory] fix that issue. Also this would raise awareness of the appstore and generate more users and in turn more developers wanting to add their work, another issue I've seen with other appstores. Having everything in one place would also make finding awesome things for your phone so much easier. Cause let's face it if u don't know EXACTLY what to "search" for how are you going to find it? And before someone says it, no I'm not one of the people that is too lazy to search the forum. I actually spend hours searching the forum and Google before I ask for an answer. This would just make it faster and easier. And what's the purpose of technology if not to make things easier, faster, and more efficient?
Anyways these are just my initial ideas. Have many more but I wanted to get some input on this first. Please comment with your opinion or other ideas.
$
A project like that should cost a lot, and even if someone wanted to realize it, they didn't find investors. I also think the appstore doesn't have to be completely (free). Why not to pay Rom's authors for their work...the cost of a beer from everyone downloads the rom should be enough to thank them. p.s sorry for my English
I agree but in order for xda to back it I'm pretty sure it would have to be free. (If the same rules apply as from the forum). There would definitely be a donation button though. Don't get me wrong on that. And like I said these are just basic initial ideas. By no means is my post a complete plan for an app market.

If you put it in this way, then of course it would be a successfull idea. So who should we fight to have the store?
I've just watched the introduction video...so take my "thank"
I feel like if a detailed more complete plan for this app store was wrote up and presented to xda and enough developers agreed to back it. and help develop it there would be a good chance they would agreed to implement it on their website.it's impossible to not be heard if you make enough noise and present an educated plan. sorry for the brief reply.II'm going into work right now. I will get back on later when I get off. And we can talk about this more. We need to try and get more people to comment on this thread though for sure.

As I said in a previous post. In order to be backed by xda it would have to be free (as stated in forum rules), however their would be donation buttons for people to say thanks. If developers wouldn't upload to the appstore simply because they don't get paid per-app only from donations then why would they load stuff on the xda forum? Because the same rule applies here.
See what I'm trying to say?
support the xda app market!!:good:
however, it will be cool for having a paid apps section to reward developers
Its definitely an option I'm not saying it won't happen. Like I said before make enough noise and you can't be ignored =P any other good ideas? Remember no idea is a bad idea so start brainstorming!
And definitely help try and get more people on board with the idea! The more people that back it up the better chances we will have a stable long lasting appstore and not one that'll be here one minute and gone the next!
Seems cool. Good idea! :thumbup:
LIFE! Make the best out of it!

App for Event/Meeting/Party Management
Hi, I've been searching for an app that manages events, meetings, and all sorts of parties, with infinite different combinations of features needed from sending invites, remote/onsite checkins, web/database/calendar integration, tracking participants' locations and time stamps, history, etc., etc.... Anyone have a first hand knowledge of such an app that has served you well? Any leads would be appreciated.... Thanks!

There are a number of event planning apps on the google play store, for example Super Planner. Just search for "event planner" or "event planning." Since you want a lot, maybe two of them together will give you everything you need. If you are already using a desktop application to track all of these things, you can ask those developers if they are planning or already have integration for mobile devices. This would be a great solution if the desktop and the mobile device could be sync'd.

Exactly... we are still looking, there are SO many, and so many are just basic crap, just takes time... there are a couple of good ones but yes, desktop/PC integration would great... just thought someone could save me hours of time "testing" the good and bad event apps, its a tedious process, not exactly like testing a new game from the Amazon FAOTD where u know in 30 seconds whether u wanna keep it or not... to be continued.............
I love the old school video game emulators. With that said, fpse is boss. Wish someone could do a ps2 emulator.. also why doesn't the tw weather widget work in any other launcher? The AccuWeather one that is.
My favorite game is color sheep, very addictive and requise you to think very fast and distinct between different colors.
My favorite app is Google keep, the best notes app i know, very very simple.

Exactly, that's the point. The Google Playstore has got so many apps now, and even Google is failing to keep count of, and track, the numerous apps. Many apps have promising features, and when you install them, they are just crap. Either hanging your phone or doing some other ****ty thing. Only a handful apps deliver what we can call satisfactory. Eg, I was using ES File Explorer, and when I read so many thumb-up sort of reviews abt the astro file explorer. I installed it, and I found it to be crap. I reverted back to es, and now they've released a more awesome version of es file explorer.
While I don't have what you're searching for, but I agree that we have to go through a helluva testing time only to find that an app is pure crap.....
My favorite apps is all about photography such as perfectly clear it's really helpful for get a better pic .. And my favorite widget is Google Assist for sure.. It is really helpful

[APP] "Speaking Mind" is looking for early adopters.

First of all I'd like to apologize for my bad English and want to tell you a story.
Once upon a time I was walking down the street, reading something from the smartphone screen. I stopped at the corner, waiting for the green light, and stared back my phone. Suddenly my cap was swept away by the rear-view mirror of the city-bus passing by. It was scary a little. A second later I realized that I've just missed a great chance to get to a "better place" because of a facebook post.
Few weeks after that incident I was thinking about the way to avoid such situations in future, remebering all the times I hit other people on the street reading their phones, getting into stinky things, etc. I was searching for solution and finally decided to make an application for smartphones that will save some social-addicted people from dying yong. This app should read incoming feed aloud, freeing eyes and hands of users, making them able to (better) control the surrounding area. It must be very easy to control without paying attention to the screen - swipes, huge buttons, headset control, voice control, whatever. This app should be a media-player, streaming only the favorite music to the ears, that no radio can't perform ever. Also I have found that elder people find that app very useful because they find listening to selected newsfeeds more convenient than filtering an ordinary radio stream for the information they're waiting for. So I have started.
I'm the founder of the Speaking Mind project and I'd like to introduce you my Android application.
I am an IT-specialist with 15 years of experience in various disciplines, grown to CIO and finally decided to work on my own. At this moment this project is my one and only occupation, so I'm working hard to make it the best of the best.
This is a smartphone application that read news from different sources using TTS engine. It plays music, stored at the /Music folder on the SD-card, when there is nothing to read, or time for news ran out. Currently we're offering reading only for different predefined RSS-sources.
Later some plugins will arrive. Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Email and others.
I am looking for the early adopters, who could help me develop great and really useful piece of software. Please, try it, tell me about your experience, your wishes, anything.
-= Attention, please =-
If you somehow got Force Close error, please-please, send a report by pressing a button. It will help us a lot.
-= Thank you =-
Send me any questions to [email protected].
Thank you one more time, this is the end of this wall of text.

I think this is a great idea. I've been looking for an app like this for a while and the one I had stopped working so this would be awesome, but I don't use many RSS feeds, so I'll wait for other formats to come.

The most useful I can think of would be webpage text. I read a lot of articles in my browser. Perhaps, the app could put the page in a "Print View" in order to only show the relevant text and read that text aloud.

There will be a Pocket plugin which will allow reading bookmarked topics. I think it will be a solution for your case.

I'm not very good in English, so I'd like to explain in detail this statement: Plugin for the Pocket was requested by several our early adopters and was put in the plan to be developed just after two other plugins for the Facebook and VK. But there is one thing I have to make clear - public Pocket API allows to add, modify and destroy bookmarked articles. It does not allow to get full articles by default, but it is possible if Pocket team will accept written request about this level of access. I've made a request today and now I'm waiting for the answer.
In the worst scenario Speind users will be able to send to Pocket the articles they wish to and read them later.

Ah okay, that sounds cool
We have released our first plugins: Twitter and Texts.
These plugins allows only reading messages aloud. No retweet or answer functionality in place. They'll be added later.
You can give them a try.
Guys, I need help.
Google has suspended my Twitter plugin with the "REASON FOR REMOVAL: Violation of the intellectual property and impersonation or deceptive behavior provisions of the Content Policy".
I don't understand what was wrong. Our app strictly follows the guidelines for using API, for using logos and so on. App description was clear and overall the app do mimic as official app or so.
Looks like someone in moderation team has got up on the wrong side of the bed, but the app is suspended atm. I wrote a petition, but I'd like to have an advice from the developers community.
How do you think, isn't it a logo of the app is the reason to suspend it? Or may be you have noticed something else?

I'm not a developer, but the first thing noticed would definitely be the logo, and yours is about the same as Twitter's.

We came to the same conclusion. Now we have changed the visual presence of the plugins. Hope that it will not provoke another act from the Google.
This is our new logo for all the plugins coming.
How do you think, will it provoke any actions or it's acceptable?
We have followed all guidelines very carefully and pixel-precisely.

According to this guide (https://about.twitter.com/press/brand-assets), yes.
Twitter has blue and white logo. And the rules for usage.
Do: Use the Twitter bird to show that your product or device is compatible with Twitter.
Don’t: Display the Twitter logo or trademarks larger than your own marks.
Give me your opinion if you believe that I'm wrong in mine.
