App for Event/Meeting/Party Management
Hi, I've been searching for an app that manages events, meetings, and all sorts of parties, with infinite different combinations of features needed from sending invites, remote/onsite checkins, web/database/calendar integration, tracking participants' locations and time stamps, history, etc., etc.... Anyone have a first hand knowledge of such an app that has served you well? Any leads would be appreciated.... Thanks!

There are a number of event planning apps on the google play store, for example Super Planner. Just search for "event planner" or "event planning." Since you want a lot, maybe two of them together will give you everything you need. If you are already using a desktop application to track all of these things, you can ask those developers if they are planning or already have integration for mobile devices. This would be a great solution if the desktop and the mobile device could be sync'd.

Exactly... we are still looking, there are SO many, and so many are just basic crap, just takes time... there are a couple of good ones but yes, desktop/PC integration would great... just thought someone could save me hours of time "testing" the good and bad event apps, its a tedious process, not exactly like testing a new game from the Amazon FAOTD where u know in 30 seconds whether u wanna keep it or not... to be continued.............

I love the old school video game emulators. With that said, fpse is boss. Wish someone could do a ps2 emulator.. also why doesn't the tw weather widget work in any other launcher? The AccuWeather one that is.

My favorite game is color sheep, very addictive and requise you to think very fast and distinct between different colors.
My favorite app is Google keep, the best notes app i know, very very simple.

Exactly, that's the point. The Google Playstore has got so many apps now, and even Google is failing to keep count of, and track, the numerous apps. Many apps have promising features, and when you install them, they are just crap. Either hanging your phone or doing some other ****ty thing. Only a handful apps deliver what we can call satisfactory. Eg, I was using ES File Explorer, and when I read so many thumb-up sort of reviews abt the astro file explorer. I installed it, and I found it to be crap. I reverted back to es, and now they've released a more awesome version of es file explorer.
While I don't have what you're searching for, but I agree that we have to go through a helluva testing time only to find that an app is pure crap.....

My favorite apps is all about photography such as perfectly clear it's really helpful for get a better pic .. And my favorite widget is Google Assist for sure.. It is really helpful

Hey guys,
I have decided to post an application I have been working on. This app lets you share apps with anybody. I originally put this on the Android Market but they didn't like how easy it was to send anybody apps without any rules. From the original description:
Send apps, not links!
Using AppShare, you can send any app to anybody anytime! AppShare doesn't just send links like similar offerings, but sends real APK (Application) files to any other device in the world using a unique Access ID (assigned to you upon installation). It works similar to phone numbers - you select which application you want to send, type in your friend's Access ID and then press send. It's fast, easy and intuitive! Use AppShare for developing apps or sending your favorite apps to your friends.
Optionally install apps without user interaction.
AppShare uses PUSH technology so that it DOES NOT drain your battery! Please keep in mind that apps can take awhile to send/receive, even on 3G. Apps sent may take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours to receive depending on many different factors.
Decentralized servers are used, NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS STORED. If you have questions about any of the permissions required to install, please contact the developer and he will be happy to explain any questions you have.
Please contact the developer if you have any issues or questions about using AppShare and before leaving negative reviews!
Have fun sharing (REAL) apps!

RECENT CHANGES:
4/29/2011 - Bug fixes
4/25/2011 - Slight graphical improvements, quite a few bug fixes, upgraded logging.
4/18/2011 - Fixed some bugs, allows those with root permissions to send data from app-private (this should be a rare occurrence because it is deprecated)
4/18/2011 - Initial version release
If you have any questions, please PM me. Thanks!
This is quite interesting and would be very helpful tocpeople developing apps to send them to testers.

I can't WAIT to try this. I am not a developer but I've always invisioned an app like this. Gonna test it out right now on my wifes G2!
I tested the app and except for a few force closes it works as advertised. On occassion I had to resend an app several times for it to upload to my wifes non-rooted G2 but in the end she received it. This is an awesome app. Great jod "damageless"!! MyTouch 4G running CM7 2.3.4
Excellent application idea. Have you considered adding protection to prevent the distribution of paid or secured applications?
How would this work with copy protected apps, which is a lot of them?
Is the idea to only get this to work with free apps that are not protected at all?
If a developer is concerned about distribution of paid apps, even basic DRM will stop sharing via the app in the OP.
While this is a nice idea, it puts phones and user data at risk. Sharing apps from non-developer authorized distribution points leads to the spread of malware, and piracy.
Scenario that makes this app a bad idea.
Friend a Grabs AWESOME FIGHTING ROBOT game off rapid share, unknown to him this game gains root access (via embed exploit), steals data and makes the phone part of a botnet.
Friend b sees friend a playing the game, it looks awesome!. Friend a) uses this app to share the game to friend b (being from a non authorized source in the first place), friend b runs game and becomes part of the botnet.
Good point. Luckily, however, you can apparently disable automatic hands-off installation.

is this the according market page: market.android.com/details?id=com.goldtouch.appshare&feature=search_result (cant post links..)
I am wondering about the strange logo
That isn't the market page. It was forced off the market because Google essentially didn't like how people could send apps to anybody so easily. They told me that because not everybody has implemented DRM that I couldn't put it in there. Anyways, rather than put it to waste I decided to post it here. If you let me know of any force closes (tell me how it happened) then I would be happy to fix them and post an update. Please share it with your friends so that I have a reason to keep it alive. Yes, this app could potentially be used for bad things, but it wasn't intended for that purpose. I actually built it so that I could send apps to the lady that does my graphic design so that she could see how things look and send me updated graphics. I have a way around sending copy protected apps, but I currently have the feature disabled (because I thought Google would let me post it if I disabled it, but no luck). Anyways, let me know if you have any feature requests, problems, or anything at all. Thanks!
pls, can you explain the option "use service - instead of activity" ?
And why need the app reading contact data?
Sure. There is a feature that allows you to save access ID numbers to your contact list so you don't have to remember them. It is on the second screen. That is all that it is used for.
The using service preference lets you upload using a service instead of an activity. So it will say "app sent" and upload to the person in the background instead of making you wait.
No personal information is stored at all. Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!
Hi, love the idea of this app but can not install on my wifes x10i keep getting a parsing error yet it installed fine on my galaxy s I am guessing its because my wife is running eclair and i'm on froyo is froyo the minimum requirement for this app? thanks
Eclair is the minimum requirement. The reason you would be getting a parsing error is if the apk is corrupted. You will need to recopy the apk over.
This app clearly has no purpose apart from distribution of warez!
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk
Yeah that's a negative ghost rider, by itself the app has nothing to do with warez. Go troll somewhere else.

Thanks for the reply damageless and I disagree that this app has no purpose for example my wife does not install stuff on her phone thats my job I was able to send her a train timetable app while she was away from home at the train station so very handy for that situation
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Not true that this was ever built or meant for warez. I actually built this app so that I could send apps I'm working on to my graphic designer easily.
nice idea / work!!

[CONCEPT] Nexus Q: Q-Dash - Completed

This is something I had an idea about as soon as I saw the Nexus Q. I saw the potential this device has, however the current setup is just lacking. Good thing is hackable and runs Android though.
I am not a developer, I just come up with concepts in the hope that either Google or a developer will like the idea and begin to implement it.
What is it?
The Q-Dash is a customisable dashboard powered by the Nexus Q. Every morning, we wake up and check our phones for the latest news, weather, Facebook updates etc. If you can get it on your phone, its likely that we will check it.
However, you have a Nexus Q, why not put all that information onto one screen.
When your alarm goes off, your Android Device sends a command to the Nexus Q to power up the Q-Dash.
Q-Dash is your daily dashboard of all the information you check in the morning and its fully customisable. It can give you any Google Now Card, the latest breaking news stories, RSS feeds, Facebook/Twitter information, Live TV or Audio Streams. Q-Dash also shows you notifications you might have missed during the night.
How does it work?
Q-Dash is a completely 'hands free' experience from the moment your alarm goes off. When the alarm is activated, your Android device automatically listens for your voice, enabling you to snooze or dismiss your alarm without getting out of bed. Once it receives the dismiss command, your Android Device powers the Nexus Q on in Q-Dash mode.
From then on, your Android Device listens out for a hotword. When it hears this hotword, it activates the speech recognition so you can control Q-Dash.
Ask it to show you your RSS feeds from the Google Blog, and thats what it will do. Ask it to read you an article from a RSS feed - it'll do that as well.
Change the Livestream, post a Facebook/Twitter update, see the weather forecast, check your daily agenda or go to your favourite website - Q-Dash can do all this an more. It also has the compatibility to launch Q-Dash optimised applications from your device, right onto the Q-Dash. So if you want to see your favourite news application on Q-Dash, just ask it to launch. If the app is Q-Dash optimised, it'll launch for you.
If you have multiple Nexus Q's in your house, you can take Q-Dash with you. Simply tap your phone on any Q-Dash to bring it up. Q-Dash also knows when you have left your house, so can power down the Nexus Q automatically.
If you like this concept, don't forget to click Newsworthy in the top right and share this around the web!

Dude, all I have to say is the concept sounds pretty awesome. However, and this isn't the fault of Q-Dash at all...unless if the Q gets a lot more functionality, and quickly, I doubt too many people are going to be paying $300 for a gimped device. I mean, it's a networked media consumption device, but it can't even do local streaming of audio or video (at least not natively, and I haven't seen anything 3rd party that can do it either).
Three times expensive than Apple TV,I'm not sure it's worth enough
Yeah I best you.
Its been hacked to runs apps hasn't it so things like this shouldn't be to far away
This is an amazing concept for the Q! I can't wait to see where this goes! This is the future!! I just picked my Q up on ebay today. For those of you interested but not wanting to pay 300+ tax check out ebay. I got mine for 195 and saw them come and go for 170-210 from the Google I/O folks. Following this thread and can't wait to see where this goes! This just made me 1000 times more excited about picking up the Q.

My vision would be for either a developer or Google to jump on board and develop it as its only a concept. If I had the time in my life, I'd sit down and attempt to learn Java and see what I could do myself, however I have pretty much no free time at the moment
Congrats!
Mas, it´s great.

Thanx for this concept.

Hi there!
In the last few weeks I developed a little toy which might especially be interesting for developers or "hackers". And since most of the users here are at least technically interested, I found that this forum might be the right place to introduce this app.

Will this app work with drag racing?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Why don't you try out yourself? However, I checked out Drag Racing and unfourtunately it seems like that game at least does not store money via Shared Preferences.
Anyway, I want to state again that this app is rather developed for scientific purposes and for those who are just curious. I think that quite a lot games unfourtunately do not use Android's Shared Preferences to store relevant data. Try it for such purpose, but I do not want to make any promises. I just emphasized that point in the hope of getting a little more attention, but people do not seem to be that interested in that app anyway.
Push again.
... and maybe once again. :/
Push once again. Can't believe, that people acually rate this app bad (two stars) because it needs root access! What the ****... However, I do not believe that it was someone from this forum. But anyway - kind of makes me angry, haha. :/

anyway thanks in advance and good luck with the app!
It's perfect.
I like i like.
Compliment.
Thank you, guys. That were finally some constructive and nice comments...
Unfourtunately, the majority of Android users, however, seems to be dumb. I just received another two comments. They both rated the app one star.
"scheise ...x" (which is german for "sh*t")
"f*cken root"
Well, thats some very constructive feedback, I love it. :/ Stupid idiots.

users without shouldnt even have the posibility to rate such apps (wich need root to install)
as they can't try it why they should have a opinion?
True words. But what am I supposed to do else but checking if the app gets root access at the start and displaying an error if it doesn't? Unfourtunately, there is no option at the developer console to disable the download for unrooted phones. :/
But thanks for feedback.
Thank you very much for building this app - I thought it was just what I was looking for! However I have a problem although I'm not sure its necessarily the app's problem. Basically I'm editing the preferences for a live wallpaper which looks in a folder for photos to display. Using your app I can open the preferences file and edit the string relating to the path of the folder. However it has no effect on the app - regardless of whether I open, restart or manipulate the app - all that happens is the preference file gets overwritten with the previous values. Its almost as if the live wallpaper isn't doing a getpreferences call?
Hi privatesam. This might be too late to answer, but anyway... Well, I have no idea what could be the matter here. I would make sure that the wallpaper app is not running in the background. I don't know if that helps. I hope so.
Well, friends, I made a small update this sunday. Basically, I just improved the UI a little bit. And - to be honest - I included another monetization method than AdMob, since my income was that bad with those AdMob banners (eCPM at around 0,05 $...) and I put a lot of work into this app. I'm sorry... I hope, you are not mad at me. I just wanted to give it a try (for those being interested, this ad network is called StartApp Mod Edit: Link Removed. - read about it first, for example here).
Again, please don't be mad at me for trying out this more "intrusive" ad network... Most of you won't notice it anyway I guess (using AdAway).
Hi. Let's give this a push.
Toy defense 2
Hi buddy, can you tell me if or how can I use this for cheat in the Toy defense 2? I think it is imposibble, but I am LAMA thanks for response
I did a small update yesterday. I included some support/help texts and removed some intrusive advertisement due to lots of negative feedback and some false virus alerts (still using StartApp, though). And also because of the Google Play Store policy changes, of course.
A also found a video on YouTube. It does belong to me. I distance myself from its content and the shown use. It is somehow a proof, however, that my app works and how it works.
@honza.chlan:
Since no developer is forced to USE Shared Preferences, this app (Toy Defense 2) might use another way to store their settings. For example on some servers in the internet. CheatDroid does not work everywhere.
Push.

Yep, we understand. We're hoping to bridge that gap by reinterpreting mundane material in a more fun and interactive way.
May i ask for the free apk to be posted in the original thread post as an attachment because you don't have a play store link?

Hi!
I apologise, but we can't post the APK here right now.
However, you can find it in the Google play store in two ways:
Go to the google play store and search for "Calculus Interactive App". It should be first app to surface. Look out for our logo, you can't miss it.
Build the url link like so: <google play store domain>/store/apps/details?id=air.com.neumediatechnologies.calculus
You will have to replace the <google play store domain> with the actual Google Play domain.
Get the FREE Lite Edition!
You can now get the FREE Lite edition here
I'm personally in love with calculus and I'd really like to test this app. However, with the requirement of Adobe Air, I'm hesitant.

Hi!
Thank you for your expressed interest!
A little bit of history, this app was originally a POC project developed on the flash platform, hence the need for Adobe air to run on android.
However, with your continuous support, we will work towards developing native applications in the future.

I really like the idea and think the app is well done. It looks great on my 720p Note 2 screen.
Some suggestions:
1) the title area in each individual 'lesson' is rather big and I believe making it smaller might allow you more room to space out the calculations and other text of the lessons to make everything a bit more readable (hopefully this makes sense).
2) the end of the whole differentiation lesson/concept doesn't bring you back to the main menu or offer any options to go back or continue or anything (or maybe it is a problem that occurred on my phone)?
3) pressing the back button during a lesson or video closes the app, this is somewhat annoying since most other apps i use, bring you back to the previous 'page' or 'menu' or whatever.
One question I have is if you would be able to expand from general calculus to put in some content and how it might relate to business calculus/principles/ideas? This would be very useful for me since I have always struggled with math and have yet to pass the business calculus class...if you need any help with testing or what not let me know, I'd be glad to help!
hi there...
just wondering but is there any ETA on when the full versoin will become available? i'm quite in love with your app...and would love to get the full version.

well they only finished one of the topics shown so far, i imagine it will take a decent amount of more time.
looks great and would have probably bought the paid version but I boycott Adobe ... No Air or even PDF reader on my phones/tablets for me.
Sorry

Awesome concept! I also hope you steer away from Adobe Air. I don't mind Adobe, but Air is not high on my list.
Thanks!

Great suggestions! Thanks! We'll look into them.
We did intend for this to be a refresher/introduction. We'll consider your suggestion for more mature content.

Have I mentioned its a free app?!?
Just curious, for what violation did Google take down your previous app? Developers cannot completly remove apps, it didn't even show up in my installed apps so Google must have removed it for an infraction, why?
---------- Post added at 08:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:07 PM ----------
Also second question, why does your app have camera permissions?

Hi AJM, they took it down for keyword spam. Funny cause that was taught online on how to get better ranking for keywords for having keywords 5 times in ur description but I guess Google now bans that strategy.
The camera permission is for setting up a user photo if you chose to have one, it for the social features. You can now write comments to articles and get voted up or down from other users. You get points for your activities to get on our leader board. Give it a try Thanks for your question.
I am thinking about adding video news clips to the articles. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
VOS News now has video clips!!! Get your up to date news coverage now in video format.
Looks like a great clean news app. Gonna give it a try! Gj dev for getting featured on the portal
Thanks so much for your support Gavin. Hope the community could find this app useful. Thanks again
I've never been happy with a news app until now. The UI is slick. Great job.

btw five stars already, good job!
Great app. Love the ui. I would like to see ability to add categories for custom topics and maybe a way to set location for weather and local news.

Great app so far, love the transparency in the app as well. Looks beautiful. One recommendation I'd make is maybe the option to filter/customize the type of news/news sources kind of like how play newsstand does it because to some people, "world" news would be irrelevant. Keep up the fantastic work though. Never enjoyed reading as much until this app!

Thanks budbay for trying out VOS. Great ideal on the custom topics, I will have a think on how to implement this feature. As for the weather, the reason it currently only does major cities because I didn't want to activate GPS to gather user locations. Maybe later with positive user approval we could activate the GPS to allow more accurate weather reporting.

Thanks again Gavin. Yes I think too its a great idea to allow a filter for topics as another XDA user has mentioned. I will work out an implementation for this feature and update you since it's ready.
Great app
I've been using Flipboard as my main source for catching news...that will now come to a end.
You've created a great and very good looking news reader that I'll use from now on. May I suggest the possibility to have multiple countries as source for the news feed? To me that would make this lovely news reader complete
Thank you for a work well done!
