Hey guys,
I have decided to post an application I have been working on. This app lets you share apps with anybody. I originally put this on the Android Market but they didn't like how easy it was to send anybody apps without any rules. From the original description:
Send apps, not links!
Using AppShare, you can send any app to anybody anytime! AppShare doesn't just send links like similar offerings, but sends real APK (Application) files to any other device in the world using a unique Access ID (assigned to you upon installation). It works similar to phone numbers - you select which application you want to send, type in your friend's Access ID and then press send. It's fast, easy and intuitive! Use AppShare for developing apps or sending your favorite apps to your friends.
Optionally install apps without user interaction.
AppShare uses PUSH technology so that it DOES NOT drain your battery! Please keep in mind that apps can take awhile to send/receive, even on 3G. Apps sent may take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours to receive depending on many different factors.
Decentralized servers are used, NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS STORED. If you have questions about any of the permissions required to install, please contact the developer and he will be happy to explain any questions you have.
Please contact the developer if you have any issues or questions about using AppShare and before leaving negative reviews!
Have fun sharing (REAL) apps!

RECENT CHANGES:
4/29/2011 - Bug fixes
4/25/2011 - Slight graphical improvements, quite a few bug fixes, upgraded logging.
4/18/2011 - Fixed some bugs, allows those with root permissions to send data from app-private (this should be a rare occurrence because it is deprecated)
4/18/2011 - Initial version release
If you have any questions, please PM me. Thanks!
This is quite interesting and would be very helpful tocpeople developing apps to send them to testers.

I can't WAIT to try this. I am not a developer but I've always invisioned an app like this. Gonna test it out right now on my wifes G2!
I tested the app and except for a few force closes it works as advertised. On occassion I had to resend an app several times for it to upload to my wifes non-rooted G2 but in the end she received it. This is an awesome app. Great jod "damageless"!! MyTouch 4G running CM7 2.3.4
Excellent application idea. Have you considered adding protection to prevent the distribution of paid or secured applications?
How would this work with copy protected apps, which is a lot of them?
Is the idea to only get this to work with free apps that are not protected at all?
If a developer is concerned about distribution of paid apps, even basic DRM will stop sharing via the app in the OP.
While this is a nice idea, it puts phones and user data at risk. Sharing apps from non-developer authorized distribution points leads to the spread of malware, and piracy.
Scenario that makes this app a bad idea.
Friend a Grabs AWESOME FIGHTING ROBOT game off rapid share, unknown to him this game gains root access (via embed exploit), steals data and makes the phone part of a botnet.
Friend b sees friend a playing the game, it looks awesome!. Friend a) uses this app to share the game to friend b (being from a non authorized source in the first place), friend b runs game and becomes part of the botnet.
Good point. Luckily, however, you can apparently disable automatic hands-off installation.

is this the according market page: market.android.com/details?id=com.goldtouch.appshare&feature=search_result (cant post links..)
I am wondering about the strange logo
That isn't the market page. It was forced off the market because Google essentially didn't like how people could send apps to anybody so easily. They told me that because not everybody has implemented DRM that I couldn't put it in there. Anyways, rather than put it to waste I decided to post it here. If you let me know of any force closes (tell me how it happened) then I would be happy to fix them and post an update. Please share it with your friends so that I have a reason to keep it alive. Yes, this app could potentially be used for bad things, but it wasn't intended for that purpose. I actually built it so that I could send apps to the lady that does my graphic design so that she could see how things look and send me updated graphics. I have a way around sending copy protected apps, but I currently have the feature disabled (because I thought Google would let me post it if I disabled it, but no luck). Anyways, let me know if you have any feature requests, problems, or anything at all. Thanks!
pls, can you explain the option "use service - instead of activity" ?
And why need the app reading contact data?
Sure. There is a feature that allows you to save access ID numbers to your contact list so you don't have to remember them. It is on the second screen. That is all that it is used for.
The using service preference lets you upload using a service instead of an activity. So it will say "app sent" and upload to the person in the background instead of making you wait.
No personal information is stored at all. Please let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!
Hi, love the idea of this app but can not install on my wifes x10i keep getting a parsing error yet it installed fine on my galaxy s I am guessing its because my wife is running eclair and i'm on froyo is froyo the minimum requirement for this app? thanks
Eclair is the minimum requirement. The reason you would be getting a parsing error is if the apk is corrupted. You will need to recopy the apk over.
This app clearly has no purpose apart from distribution of warez!
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk
Yeah that's a negative ghost rider, by itself the app has nothing to do with warez. Go troll somewhere else.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Thanks for the reply damageless and I disagree that this app has no purpose for example my wife does not install stuff on her phone thats my job I was able to send her a train timetable app while she was away from home at the train station so very handy for that situation
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Not true that this was ever built or meant for warez. I actually built this app so that I could send apps I'm working on to my graphic designer easily.
nice idea / work!!

Some great information and apps.. thanks a lot or sharing. Found a number of apps that were a little too nosey for my liking.
Installed LBE Security and AdFree.
Thankyou!
What on earth could Angry Birds want my IMEI/IMSI for??
Just some statistics from my own experience:
85~% of the apps you will ask you for permission to use your IMEI/IMSI!
40~% wants your position / GPS
30% ask to read your call logs / contacts etc.
...... but see it yourself!
Btw: If you find a good app, that I could add to this list, don't hesitate to post here.
I agree wholeheartedly. Privacy, and hence liberty, is being eroded at every turn. People just don't seem to realize how much information they're giving away, and don't care. What's the big deal about wearing a little yellow star someone once said. That is the evil insidious problem of Facebook. A generation ago people kept diaries under lock and key. Now people publish their every banal moment to Facebook. And, to be fair, most of these people are safe doing this. Most people are not criminals or terrorists and have nothing, or what they consider very little, to hide. But this is the thin edge of the wedge. I read 1984 in 1970. I also read Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World. Although the authoritarianism of our present system is less overt and more insidious than that shown in these books, you really can see distinct similarities between these fictional times, and the way we live now. It is easy to find copies of these books, everyone should download them and read or re-read them. Yes, it might interfere with watching professional sport or dancing with quasi celebrities...but that which does not kill you makes you stronger. If you live in a free country it is your duty as a citizen to be informed, or else we wind up like we are now....rioting in the streets while our leaders ignore us, while they kowtow to the global financial elites.
And the above post is the saddest thing of all. If we want to use any app we have to give them blanket permissions. I'm sorry, I don't want them knowing who/where I am. Who my contacts are, what I'm doing. I miss the ownership of my data that the old Palm OS gave me. And I rue the day I was forced into the cloud. I don't want to see their ads. I don't want to help them in any way. That may seem unreasonable considering most of the programs are free, and you can call me selfish, but to me free is free period. If you want to charge for your app, and it is good, I'll pay for it, but if you're going to call an app free it should be just that, free. The "business is business argument" doesn't cut it with me, there is only one "thing" and that's the right" thing". Integrity is the only thing that sets regular people apart from the wealthy.
Thanks to the OP
Thank you very much.
I'd recommend Privacy Inspector to check what your apps can do. Full version Privacy Blocker can actually change applications so they would not be able to gather personal information about you.
thx for this help post, very much needed
You should really remove the Taskmanager (here for why) since they do more harm then good.. Now an app like Watchdog alerts you when apps are misbehaving and lets you kill them but other than that you should just leave them alone.. at least on 2.2+

This is a good one, didn't know that about taskmanagers.
But still, to kill some unwanted apps you need a taskmanager.
I will recommend watchdog now of course too.
btw. there is an update for lbe privacy guard.
I will add that soon in the 1st post.
stay tuned!
Hy, thanks for the post. The lbe guard seems nice, I was using "Permission denied" until now, but the interface was not that good xD
What's your opinion to virus scanner like lookout mobile security?

Some good ones for you guys.
PDroid – The Better Privacy Protection is a program you can use to block acces to personal data. Read the link. Super! It doesnt do anything without paching the ROM youre using. But patching is fairly easy using pacher found at aplication thread. No ICS support yet . I suggest asking your ROM devs to implement PDroid patch. If we demand...
Edit: You find all instructions in the PDroid thread.
And then the other: Bloatfreezer. App that can freeze any other app in system. Freezing doesnt make system misbehave and it works on system apps too. You can freeze anything. Alot better than task killers. Author is Trey Holland who find the Carrier IQ in android systems. He has been sued by google from reveiling Carrier IQ which is app that sends all your data to somewhere. Even your key presses.
Carrier IQ is a spying app in millions of phones. Nokia, blackberry, android etc.
You can scan your system using logging test app by xda user Trey Holland; TrevE
Edit: Some thanks would be nice because these are gems here.
Hi there!
In the last few weeks I developed a little toy which might especially be interesting for developers or "hackers". And since most of the users here are at least technically interested, I found that this forum might be the right place to introduce this app.

Will this app work with drag racing?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Why don't you try out yourself? However, I checked out Drag Racing and unfourtunately it seems like that game at least does not store money via Shared Preferences.
Anyway, I want to state again that this app is rather developed for scientific purposes and for those who are just curious. I think that quite a lot games unfourtunately do not use Android's Shared Preferences to store relevant data. Try it for such purpose, but I do not want to make any promises. I just emphasized that point in the hope of getting a little more attention, but people do not seem to be that interested in that app anyway.
Push again.
... and maybe once again. :/
Push once again. Can't believe, that people acually rate this app bad (two stars) because it needs root access! What the ****... However, I do not believe that it was someone from this forum. But anyway - kind of makes me angry, haha. :/

anyway thanks in advance and good luck with the app!
It's perfect.
I like i like.
Compliment.
Thank you, guys. That were finally some constructive and nice comments...
Unfourtunately, the majority of Android users, however, seems to be dumb. I just received another two comments. They both rated the app one star.
"scheise ...x" (which is german for "sh*t")
"f*cken root"
Well, thats some very constructive feedback, I love it. :/ Stupid idiots.

users without shouldnt even have the posibility to rate such apps (wich need root to install)
as they can't try it why they should have a opinion?
True words. But what am I supposed to do else but checking if the app gets root access at the start and displaying an error if it doesn't? Unfourtunately, there is no option at the developer console to disable the download for unrooted phones. :/
But thanks for feedback.
Thank you very much for building this app - I thought it was just what I was looking for! However I have a problem although I'm not sure its necessarily the app's problem. Basically I'm editing the preferences for a live wallpaper which looks in a folder for photos to display. Using your app I can open the preferences file and edit the string relating to the path of the folder. However it has no effect on the app - regardless of whether I open, restart or manipulate the app - all that happens is the preference file gets overwritten with the previous values. Its almost as if the live wallpaper isn't doing a getpreferences call?
Hi privatesam. This might be too late to answer, but anyway... Well, I have no idea what could be the matter here. I would make sure that the wallpaper app is not running in the background. I don't know if that helps. I hope so.
Well, friends, I made a small update this sunday. Basically, I just improved the UI a little bit. And - to be honest - I included another monetization method than AdMob, since my income was that bad with those AdMob banners (eCPM at around 0,05 $...) and I put a lot of work into this app. I'm sorry... I hope, you are not mad at me. I just wanted to give it a try (for those being interested, this ad network is called StartApp Mod Edit: Link Removed. - read about it first, for example here).
Again, please don't be mad at me for trying out this more "intrusive" ad network... Most of you won't notice it anyway I guess (using AdAway).
Hi. Let's give this a push.
Toy defense 2
Hi buddy, can you tell me if or how can I use this for cheat in the Toy defense 2? I think it is imposibble, but I am LAMA thanks for response
I did a small update yesterday. I included some support/help texts and removed some intrusive advertisement due to lots of negative feedback and some false virus alerts (still using StartApp, though). And also because of the Google Play Store policy changes, of course.
A also found a video on YouTube. It does belong to me. I distance myself from its content and the shown use. It is somehow a proof, however, that my app works and how it works.
@honza.chlan:
Since no developer is forced to USE Shared Preferences, this app (Toy Defense 2) might use another way to store their settings. For example on some servers in the internet. CheatDroid does not work everywhere.
Push.

Phonechievements is back
Phonechievements (latest version 1.35)
About
Phonechievements brings achievements to the mobile phone. For those who are gamers the concept isn't new, for those who are not, achievements are just rewards you get for accomplishing a goal. You don't get an actual prize, it's just a form of reward that you get in writing. Moreover, this app allows you to brag on Facebook with them (for now).
Open the app and navigate through the list. Each achievement has a description on how you can unlock it. Want to let everyone know how you master the phone? Share on Facebook the unlocked achievements. Just open the app and go to the achievement and a Facebook logo button will allow you to do that.
With each update new features and of course new phonechievements will be added.
If you like the idea and want to help me improve or have any suggestions for new achievements, please check it out.
The app is available for Android 2.0+. If you find any issues please let me know so I can fix them.
Thank you.

Sounds interesting
This sounds like a lot of fun. I'll definitely try it out.
This is an awesome idea. Installing now.
Love the idea, installed it, shared it. I really love this idea.
Thank you guys. Please let me know if there's any crash or any problem with the app. I see there's a general request for a JellyBean / ICS theme therefore I will be working on this alongside with the new features and achievements. The theme should be out soon so stay tuned. In the meantime enjoy the achievements and if you think of some new ones, please let me know and you could see them in the app.
Also I would appreciate some feedback regarding battery usage, memory usage and stuff like that. I got to test it on some friend's phones while on BETA and it was reported as ok, but the more data the better.
Thank you.

Yes. That would definitely make it better. I added this to the TODO list... quite on top. This will be available on a unique username base and you would be able to add friends using their username. Also a profile webpage would display all your unlocked achievements and as you said allow you to compare with other users you know or share your profile link anywhere you want.

New version published on Google Play
Just published a new update on GPlay. Give it some time to actually get it.
What's New:
* Added three new Phonechievements: Well Informed (Apps), I Always Take The Bus (Power Wizard), The Alternative Approach (Power Wizard)
* Minor bug fixes
* Battery usage reduced
Work in progress:
* Just started implementing the Twitter integration (a share button will be available next to the Facebook one).
* Another thing I started working on is a profile webpage. You will be able to choose a username and get a unique profile URL to share with your friends... and brag . Also a compare tool will be available so you can show your frinds that you have more phonechievements
* This is just the beginning as this webpage could easily be developed and improved. The way you will be able to update your profile is either automatically (setting) or manually.
* I also got a lot of complains about battery draining when GPS is on. I know what the problem is and it will be fixed in tomorrow's update
* AND THE BIG ONE COMING IN TOMORROW'S UPDATE: RandomChievements : The are phonechievements, yes they are ... but a little special. They are inactive most of the time, meaning you can't unlock them even if you accomplish the goal (by accident ). They become active randomly, at any time. You will get a notification that the randomchievement has become active. From that moment on you have a random amount of time to complete it. Sometimes it might be almost impossible to do it. But if you miss it , there's no worry, it will get active some other time. Randomly, of course. The only known fact is that it can not tell you to unlock it in less than 15 minutes. This is the lower limit. The upper limit is 6 hours. There will be a new category called Randomchievements where this new type of phonechievement will take its rest.
Last but not least... if you experience any issues , crashes , please report them so I can try and fix the issues.
Thank you.
P.S.

Looks and sounds great. Reminds me of Google latitude. Been looking for something like this. Unfortunately play store tells me it's not available in my country (Germany). Could you provide the apk, then I'll give it a shot
why is shows "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." i have nexus ????
Hi, tried your app for a few minutes, but I realized that you are focusing on your home country, I am sitting in Germany and could not verify my account. But I must say, the setup and the UI is wonderful. Just the way I would love to see such an app. Way better then google latitude and all the other alternatives. If everything functions as described, then this is really an outstanding well coded app.
I will keep an eye on your app and as soon as you go global I am sure its worth a try. Also if you need a translation into German, I'll translate the strings for you.
Another question I have, what happens after the one month premium test subscription, which option still function after premium subscription ends?
The app says not compatible with OnePlus One running stock Android 5.1.1
Looking forward to try it out
I currently use Glympse for this. I am always open to try another app. This sounds like it is more like what I need. I have 3 teenage daughters. I also use the LOCATOR app provided by SPRINT APP store. This allows me to locate, but, it does so with all sort of notifications and emails, which are not able to bypass. Sometimes I just need to know where my daughters are and not send them a text message saying so without my doing so.
Thank you all for the feedback!!!
I developed this app on Nexus 7,9,10 so I'm not sure why it's saying they are not compatible.
Looks like I need to make this available in other countries!

Please do would love to test it with some other folks here in Germany. Could you also tell me what happens after the premium test month is over, what functions are premium and which aren't and how much it costs.

I'm going to be reworking the entire premium stuff. Currently when premium expires, you have to manually press a refresh button to get the latest data. more of an inconvenience for the user.

Makes sense, if you want to live from this great work of yours, then inconvenience is a must, in order to have users buy premium.

We are removing the premium features completely in the next release. This application will be entirely free. forever.
I would like to try this app but I live in France and playstore says that I can't download it. I tried with a vpn or evozi downloader, nothing work :/ If someone is able to provide me the apk I would be grateful
Edit : I managed to get it thx to someone on xda forum apk, if someone need it I can provide the link !
Get Looxie from the Play Store!
Looxie is a location-based photo request app that I released back in 2016. The premise is simple: you go on the map, select a location you want a photo from and send your request to that location. Any users within one kilometer will receive the request and they can respond by sending you a photo.
The big twist? They can only send photos by actually taking them with their camera: gallery uploads are not allowed. Practically, this means that any photo you receive was taken seconds earlier and essentially is a real-time depiction of that location. The practical applications are numerous (Is the sea choppy? Is the bar I want to go to packed? Is there a lot of traffic on the A2? What's up in the Mongolian steppe right now?) but it's also really exciting to simply know that the photo you got depicts something at the other side of the world as it is right now.
Late last year, I decided that the app looked positively archaic, so I went ahead and rebuilt/redesigned it from the ground up to make it prettier and faster. I think the redesign is very successful and the app is indeed much faster and much easier to use.
Here is what it looks like:

I will probably be adding some premium features as a very cheap subscription (full-res photo downloads, for example) in the hopes that they'll at least cover the Firebase costs but anybody who registers an account by August 9th, 2019 will get all premium features for free.
I will be happy to answer your questions and read your comments!
Bumping the thread with actual links. I'll be around to answer any questions and respond to comments.
Really liking this app. Now I am getting requests one after the other from the same user. It would be nice if there was a cool-down time, I'd say, once every 2hrs between requests times from the same user
Amazing idea but..
1. When I use the search function, I can't actually click on a photo to be able to view it and zoom in. All it does when I click that it switches to the next photo and the same happens with Sent Looxies.
2. No full screen viewing available!
3. Settings is grayed out and I can't access it?
4. I can't view the likes of a certain image!
5. I am getting a ton of requests of user NewbieTown, is it a bot?
When i click the camera button to take a picture it opens the stock camera(xiaomi) but I don't really like the pictures from it so I use a google camera port , do you think it's possible to choose from the camera app?
Hey! You should be able to use any camera app you want. I'm almost never using the stock Pixel camera, instead I use something some effects, like Vignette or Cameringo.

Hey, thanks! Totally my fault for not communicating this more clearly in the app but each of these requests are actually from a different user. Whenever a new user signs up, they have the option of sending a first contact request, ie. send a request to every user in the world (just once).
So what happened is that with the sudden influx of users (due to the XDA feature) LOTS of people got to use their first contact requests and everybody was flooded with those things. I should absolutely find a way to combat that but I don't want to take the first contact functionality away from new users. The problem will eventually solve itself, of course, when things go back to normal, with 3-5 registrations per day.

Hello there.
You are right on every count, the app is pretty frustrating right now. This is partly down to the fact that it's a ground-up rewrite, so some functionality that was there in the old app is still missing but also due to the fact that I'm a lone developer working on it after 10-hour marathons in my day job, right after I manage to put my 2-year old son to sleep. I still love it, though. Let me answer your questions one by one.
1. All of the functionality you're describing is coming within the month. I'm taking a much-needed two-week off from work so I'll be able to focus on Looxie almost exclusively.
2. Also coming soon!
3. I know I sound like a broken record, but also coming soon. I have quite of bit of stuff to put in there, it won't take too long.
4. At this point you know the answer.
5. Nope, totally not a bot. It's new users signing up and using their first contact request (which they can use only once). Thingss should go back to normal, with about 5 first contact requests per day. Just give it a bit of time.
Thanks for your comment, I wanted to clear some of this stuff up anyway!

Thanks for the quick reply, I've edited the Google Play rating of the app to 5 stars.
However, you should've mentioned that the app has features that are still being optimized.
Possible to run on microg?
Love the app, just switched to a phone with lineageos 16 and microg. When I enter my username and password, it just hangs logging in. I then tried backing up the app on my old phone with adb backup then restored it to my new phone. The first time I started looxie, I was logged in and could see the feed. Now everytime I start the app, I get an empty feed that never updates. Also, my username is not displayed in the menu. Any ideas on how to get it working with microg?

Hey Jeff! I've never tested the app on a device with microg, unfortunately. Unless the microg package includes an implementation of FirebaseAuth, I cannot see it working. I'll need to check and see though, so stay tuned. If you're the Jeff from the app, it's nice to see you here, thanks for all the awesome photos :good:

Thanks, It looks like microg doesn't support FirebaseAuth currently, there are a few issues in github for it. I'll try agian when they have it supported.
