Here's the stock V20 firmware for the T-mobile Variant.
Hopefully it helps other people develop a root for our phone.

I'm a very cautious person. Have you tried flashing it and verifying that your phone still works? Have you unlocked?

So I've never used LG phones before... Is it possible to craft a TOT file that just has a single partition in it? All the stuff I seem to find is people flashing full giant TOT files.

Hrm, well that's lame... After working on the extractor tool and figuring out the format... I can't imagine why it wouldn't work... Unless the tool does some kind of size checking or something. How do people modify these tot files generally? I can imagine just modifying the extracting image and dd'ing it back into the tot at the correct position.

Is anyone able to examine the T-Mobile LG G5 H830 modified TOT file made by @tungkick to see how he replaced the stock recovery with TWRP? That's the last step to getting root and there seems to be a lot of interest and quite a few bright people here that seem to be capable of doing it. It involves hex editing but is beyond my abilities otherwise I'd do it myself.

You should try to contact direcly Dees_Troy on irc.
He is online now there on official twrp channel and could help to compile a working one.
Need to decompile kernel on github and make public
Thanks, will use this for building TWRP, looks like the sources are up for the kernel as well so I'll get started. I do not know how to build a TOT from the image, so I'm not sure how I'll be able to find someone to test it.

Waiting @tungkick to have a way to always go back, but i'm pretty sure if you flash only recovery TOT for example, you don't have any risk of brick nothing

I have a bricked v20 and I have tried flashing this .tot and the other posted in this forum and I keep getting error messages at 9% on all attempts on two windows machines. Any ideas on what this issue could be? I am using LGUP version 1_14_3. Is this the latest build or the build compatible with the V20? Drivers were latest I could find also using the LG common.dll which I needed for LGUP to recognize the V20. This is my only way out of brick I think. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

mate, as of today, i have read that there is no dll file for the v20. i.e there is no updated dll file to recognise the v20 in lgup.
u might want to wait a bit longer before u can unbrick your phone.

Not good news.. it is just the dll? I mean i knew it had to be a missing piece because it was ready to flash. Every file failed at the same time. If anyone hears anything please post here or PM me just for a heads up. Im sure a few other desperate souls out there are anxiously waiting. Any reason the flash tools are incomplete? It doesnt seem like a big deal. Can someone here in the forum make one? Just couious.. i would gladly donate. Thanks for the info.

I don't think the flash tool is meant to be public, so they are probably leaked files.
I have a soft bricked LG V20 and have tried the LGUP DLL for every LG phone model I could find. The most progress I got was with the LG G5 dll and it only went to 10%.

been reading up on xda relating to flashing and rooting (i came from samdung phones) this baby. i think being patient here is what you can do at the moment.also, not only the dll file is missing, i read twrp is not saving backup properly due to the new security protocols in place android 7.0.

I appreciate it, wish I'd seen that the day before. I tried to go back to stock recovery to see if that would fix my boot loop issue, so, without access to TWRP, I'm hosed until we have a method to reflash recovery from Fastboot or Update modem connection..
I am screwed as well, I messed my phone up too, and when I turn my phone on it automatically goes the to the upgrade mode screen, I want to through away this damn phone, hehehe.
Hi all,
I'm in need of a few files that are present in the stock rom. Can someone possibly send me these files?
The files can be found in the following directories:
system/bin:
fingerprintd
vcsFPService
system/etc/permission:
There is one single file with "fingerprint" in the name, that is the one.
system/lib:
libfpasmtztransport.so
liblibvalAuth.so
liblibvcsfp.so
liblibvfmClient.so
liblibvfmtztransport.so
system/lib/hw:
fingerprint.msm8974.so
If some files can't be found, it's still ok. Any help will be really appreciated
I think it's really hard to find someone still on stock rom in this forum lol

Thanks for the link. I already had stock rom somewhere on a hard drive. The thing is that to get files from stock I'd need to reinstall stock which is quite a pain once you have flashed a custom rom. That's why I was actually made the request to get them.
I can't extract the rom on my computer as I don't have the different tools.
Anyone has the files mentioned in the OP?

Hi,
I haven't had luck with these so far. That would help me a lot of you can share them with me.
I know it says LGD855 but this is a LGD850 firmware. The best, clean firmware for KitKat.
Owners of LGD855-V10m-ISR that never replaced this version of LAF partition, could you please backup your LAF.img partition and and share it here?
Thanks.

I have the LGD855-V10m-ISR, with TWRP recovery for the D850. I've done a basic backup, and I'll gladly send you the LAF.img, but I don't know where to find it!
Also, may I ask you, should I flash custom ROMs for the D855 or the D850? I'm afraid I'll brick it!

I have this **** of a motherboard too, i dont know which model it is, IMEI says its D855TR but i think imei is fake considering i bought it from aliexpress. Download mode doesnt work, deleted it to get to fastboot to install a recovery, that doesnt work either. Heck, I even tried to rewrite all partitions using Qualcomm 9008 unbrick method. Only thing that works is booting the recovery, but flashing anything doesn't. In fastboot device shows as ?

DirtySanta wont be able to be changed to fix a block. it relies on the dirtyCow exploit and if that gets blocked theres no fixing. When someone WHO IS ROOTED. gets the update notification please pm me that way i can go through the file and install it to my device.(same way i did the zv5 base) and ill get a ZV6 base going.
Word of notice too all. IF you try to install the update while rooted you will get a TWRP loop. The Fix for that is all over so please dont bug me for a fix.....

I have stock backups using flashfire..
But the baseband issue come from flashing a gsm rom or a aosp rom. Im not sure witch efs partition is radio only but i have them backed up.. If you look for my guide on how to manually program this will get those items to come back without flashing radios.
Flash my stock rom or the one from dirty santa..
Then follow the instructions to get to manual program. Youll need to go to sprint.com and get ur msl or ask care and say you need it to do a full reset using ##786# / you may also need to flash a asop rom again and toggle your network mode back to rusim or ull have to use cdma workshop to change.
As well as for your msid so you can program it.
The nam config got changed from rium to nv only and breaks ur efs connection. The prl probably is 162 also on your phone so you'll need to grab the latea 56021 prl also to flash.
Theres a ton of good info on that post and the adjoining one to it for fixing this issue.
Id need assistance in what parts of my efs backup i can use as parts contain my imei and msid etc and will booloader brick your device trying to restore my esn as well as error code my device for being cloned.
Some has to have the zv6 ota in their fota directory by now.. Humm.. I personally havent seen it but sheesh..

You could actually F9 and verify on the msm tool and get a readback of whatever partitions you tic. It dumps to the root of your C/drive . Then you could have said partitions to flash back. I did this on my Verizon op8 because no builds were out in the wild. You can run a logcat through adb though. Tic system update . Then correspond in the logcat and find googleapis or Url. T-Mobile builds aren't out there in the wild either.
