Not able to enable "Say 'Ok Googl' any time" option for Google Assistant in Nexus 6 - Android General

Not able to enable "Say 'Ok Googl' any time" option for Google Assistant in Nexus 6
Hi All,
I installed Google Assistant and Pixel Launcher by going through forum posts here. Things are working good. But, every time I say 'Ok Google', Google Assitant brings up 'Teach Google Assistant...' window. I tried going to Settings -> Google -> Search & Now -> Google Assitant and enable this feature. It brings up Teach window and I train it by saying 'Ok Google' 3 times. Though it complete the training, the option doesn't get enabled.
Any idea?
Thank you

Google Assistant running on Moto X pure.

Not sure if there is a thread on this already or not but I have gotten Google assistant to work with the exception of '' OK Google '' voice prompt.

Should I post a tutorial?
It was fairly simple. Root and Xposed version 81 are required.
Yes, please.
That'll be helpful. For some reason it's not enabled even after installing AndroidN-ify exposed module on mine. I guess I need an updated Google App for that, not sure though. Looking forward to your tutorial

You can get it working with the "Ok Google" prompt as well, but you give up Moto Voice.
Turn off Moto Voice and the Assistant Xposed Mod
Reboot phone
Google App -> Settings -> Voice -> "Ok Google" Detection
Set up "Ok Google" detection
Turn the Assistant Xposed Mod back on
Reboot phone
Launch the assistant with "Ok Google" and it will walk you through the process for voice detection again.
A couple notes:
If you don't turn the Xposed Mod off, selecting Ok Google settings will crash the app, and it needs to be set up at least once.
If you don't turn off Moto Voice, it will use Google Now instead of the Assistant when you use voice activation.

The Material Xposed Installer is probably the easiest way to do it, if you're already rooted and have TWRP installed.

Did all of those. Google assistant even comes up when I say 'Ok Google' now. But every time it goes into training mode. And the Google app still crashes when I go into 'Ok Google detection' menu. Any idea why it's so? Do I also have to update my Play services app?

It is a known issue and I think it hasn't been solved yet.
Android N-ify nightlies xposed module besides the assistant brings more Nougat goodies. https://ci.paphonb.xyz/jenkins/job/AndroidN-ify/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-android-n-ify-features-t3345091
Google Assistant on Nougat, Xposed not needed. Get Assistant - Root app on the Play store. It changes your build.prop for you as well as backing the old one up and tells you what to do from there. Only thing is whenever you use the "Okay Google" and assistant opens it keeps going back to the setting to train your voice. Like it isn't saving it but it will recognize your voice once you press "Do it later". Another way around is I long press my home button, assistant opens, then you can talk. Once the assistant is already open "Okay Google" works just fine.
This is running on AICP 12.1 Nightlies (Nougat)

Yeah I'm with you on that, I'm using TruePureXMM v2.9 with GravityBox, Android N-ify & Assistant Enabler and after setting up Ok Google voice detection in the Google App / Settings, and then again once within the Assistant when it first opened... It's not having 1 issue at all and isn't asking to retrain, even after a reboot and works perfectly with both Ok Google and long-pressing the home button. Outstanding!!!
I noticed on the new Google beta app 6.10.33.21 that Google assistant no longer needs chop assistant on any custom nougat Roms. The retain voice bug is gone! Happy day!

Just confirmed that it is also working on my Nexus 6. Once the Google beta app is installed the retrain issue is resolved. Nexus 6 is stock rooted with assistant.
My Google assistant is now showing "can't reach Google at the moment" getting the same issue on my Nexus 6. Google now works but the assistant just quit working. Anyone else having this issue?
now that google assistant is rolling out to all devices, which is better for stock, our moto voice or the google 1?

Google Assistant not working

Hello forum.
After hearing that with Xposed I was able to get Google assistant I was ecstatic. I was going to mainly use it in my vehicle for voice commands without being tied to the Google app. However, when downloading the modded Xposed module of Android N-Ify and the Google Beta app It sort of worked. When double tapping the home button I was greeted with Google search, when I said "Ok Google" android assistant prompts me to train my voice. After training my voice it goes to home screen and nothing else happens. When I go back and say "Ok Google" in the google app it prompts me to retrain my voice again. Confused, I went into the Google settings and under voice -> "Ok Google" detection it is switched off. When uninstalling the Xposed module I am able to use "Ok Google" from only the Google app itself and the Ok Google is ticked and says only from the Google app. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or my ROM is not allowing me to use it.
Relevant information:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Provider: T-Mobile
ROM: AICP for the Galaxy Note 4, T-Mobile variant.
Thanks!

Cannot set up OK Google as trusted voice to unlock phone

No idea why, but every option I can find to enable me to use the OK Google command when the phone is locked seems to be inactive and grayed out. Is there some mystery setting somewhere that needs to be active for it to work? I can "OK Google" fine when the phone is unlocked, just not when it's locked -- in that scenario, "OK Google" just brings up the lock screen and the assistant doesn't start until I manually unlock the phone. All the other Smart Lock features seem to work. Google app is the latest version. I can't think of any other apps that might be interfering. I'm baffled.
In Settings>Google>Search & Now>Voice -- the "OK Google Detection option is grayed out.
In Google App>Settings>Voice -- the "OK Google detection" option is grayed out.
In Settings>Security>Smart Lock>Trusted Voice -- the "Say OK Google any time" option is working, as is the "while driving" option. The "Trusted Voice" switch, however, is off and grayed out at all times, whatever the other switches are set at.
I do get an alert "Trusted Voice is part of 'OK Google' " when I go into Trusted Voice setup, but I've no idea what that means. It certainly doesn't mean OK Google is able to unlock my phone.
Anyone have any idea how I can get a Trusted Voice set up so I can actually unlock the phone by saying "OK Google"?
If you can't get here because option to press Ok Google Detection is greyed out maybe you installed mods or something modified the system somehow.
Sent from my sailfish using XDA Labs
No mods installed... I'm running stock Android, unrooted, but clearly something's not working right. I can get to those screens OK, but "OK Google detection" is grayed out and "trusted voice" is permanently grayed out, whether the first option is on or not

Google Assistant--User/setting errors?

Edit: So on my drive this morning after the 2nd command through Assistant things worked as they do through Google Now (speaking options, playing music). Took a week, which is quite odd (and not sure if it will continue working later). Might be a bluetooth issue which I am aware that there are many right now.
Started using my Pixel 2 last week and have noticed some 'issues' with Assistant commands over Google Now commands and am not sure if these are settings/user related as I would expect Assistant to be the same if not more feature packed than Google Now.
All the things I am listing work without issue through Google Now and on both my Pixel 2 and my previous Moto Z Play.
1. No voice prompt 'beep' when Assistant is activated. Google Now has a tone to let you know when it starts and stops 'listening.'
2. No talking back (responses) when sending SMS, setting reminders, setting calendar events, asking where the nearest 7/11 is, etc., when connected to vehicle system (2015 Grand Cherokee UConnect)
3. No starting music back up once the above #2 is complete. Have to hit the 'play' button after each command.
The one issue I have solved is that if you are experiencing a blank screen when using Google Assistant (not Google Now) to send/set things, turn back on animation scaling to anything other than 'off' and it should properly display the text.
So Google Now works much better for my uses. Unfortunately, the phone is built with Google Assistant so I have not found a way to default Google Now over Assistant with at least the 'ok Google' hotword (doesn't seem there is any control over Active Edge). Moto Z let you create your own voice activation phrase for Google Now--I really miss that.
But because Google Now works without issue I do not know If I am just missing some settings or more control options for Google Assistant. Any recommendations?

"ok Google"

Has anyone been able to make the "ok Google".?
I have Google assistant installed . It works only if I open the assistant app. But the hot word ok Google while screen off doesn't work.
The device would more than likely need to be rooted and Google places as system app to get the assistant to function. Tried all methods possible thus far and nothing worked
