I have a problem using Android OS on VM-ware that is related on internet connection in Android x-86 version 5.1 (Lollipop) and version 4.4 (Kitkat). I use android-x86-4.4-r5.iso for Kitkat and android-x86-5.1-rc.iso for Lollipop. I use VM-ware version 12.5. I have internet connectivity and I can use web browser for both android emulators, but I cannot download the APK files. The status of the APK files at Download Folder always show Queued status and I waited for so long but there was no any APK file at that folder (Download folder), or there was no any response. How should I have to do to have capability downloading android applications on Android x-86?
Besides, when I changed to the guest account, I cannot access the internet, it happens for both Android x-86 OS and Remix OS. How should I do in order to connect between a guest account and features that just have by administrator account?
Furthermore, I would like to change my cover photo (background) on Android x-86 version 5.1 (Lollipop) and version 4.4 (Kitkat). What should I have to be able to change my cover photo to be a new one?
In addition, in Remix OS I cannot impose the code into the Remix OS. Let says I wanna impose code into /etc/init.sh. When I checked my account by typing "whoami", and it resulted that i was a root. How should I do to get permission to make some codes in Remix OS?
Please help me out. I would appreciate for your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hello folks,
I am fairly new to the Android OS so please be gentle
I took the plunge and finally got a smart TV from Haier which came with the 2.3.4 Android system. All is fine an cherry in 2.3.4 town as of now (apart from its horribly looking user interface design). But was wondering if i could install the 4.0 update ?
Isnt the android system like any other where you have one default version of the OS that comes from google and then there are variants from the open-source community ? If so then which is the best stable version and where can i find it.
Installation of the 2.3.4 OS is on an MMC that i copied from the technicians that came home to fix the TV so i am fine with a backup and the procedure for the install from an MMC. But i assume that if i download the OS from the internet then the procedure will be a bit different ?
I'll update more of the details (Kernel version etc) when i get home. All this because the manufacture - Haier - does not provide updates online or on its website or anywhere on the web. Appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
Gaj

CM 11 = CyanogenMod..
CyanogenMod (pronounced /saɪ.'æn.oʊ.dʒɛn.mɒd/) is an enhanced open source firmware distribution for smartphones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices.
Features supported by CyanogenMod include native theming support, FLAC audio codec support, a large Access Point Name list, an OpenVPN client, an enhanced reboot menu, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering, CPU overclocking and other performance enhancements, soft buttons and other "tablet tweaks", toggles in the notification pull-down (such as wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS), app permissions management, as well as other interface enhancements. CyanogenMod does not contain spyware or bloatware. In many cases, CyanogenMod may increase performance and reliability compared with official firmware releases.
CyanogenMod is developed as free and open source software based on the official releases of Android by Google, with added original and third-party code.

You should better read/ask in your phone's section.
Here is a short preview of the "advanced" android world :
- In order to backup your phone data you need a recovery.
- The most known recoveries are CWM and TWRP (in most phones you get into recovery pressing power and volume buttons while the phone is off).
- From the recoveries you can install a new ROM (firmware) to your phone, make a backup/restore or flash zip files (that run commands and move files)
- Cyanogenmod / Cm is a famous ROM with different versions for many phones. Cm11 is the Cyanogenmod kitkat version (10 jellybean, 9 icecream etc)
I hope you got the main idea
Sorry I am not getting the backup and restore option in my cwm as it shows in the videos
Hello Developers,
I wanna try reviving the (made obsolete by Samsung) MyKnox App and for that i need a little help. I observed something after the Oreo upgrade of my S8 and i wanna analyze that to see if i can do something to simulate the MyKnox activation without the Samsung servers.
For that i need someone who still has a working installation of MyKnox on Android 6.0, 7.0 and 7.1 who can give me a backup of the apps (Apps only, not the data). If you need help on how to do that please contact me, or write in this thread. I hope i can find someone who still has them.
Bests,

I still have myknox running on S5neo sent u a direct message
Google bars call recording on Android 9 Pie
You heard a lot after the Google release android 9 source to AOSP.
Almost all the app developers urged that their current version no longer support call recording in Android Pie.
Gone are those days.
You have to be in Android Pie Rom, mine is (https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...evelopment/rom-aospextended-rom-v6-0-t3840741)
You have to be rooted.
Download

Paste and overwrite the .Apk in
system/priv-app/dialer and restart the device.

Thank you! I was looking for a solution to that.
Any chance to access this modded dialer? It shows as "binned by owner" here.
Unable to download apk
It says "owner has put the file into the bin ".
Hi everyone,
Please let me know if this is not the right forum for this answer.
I have an old tablet (10 years old Acer Iconia Tab a200), recently I was able to install omnirom 4.4.4 (That was the latest built available for that old device).
I'd like to add -if possible- a recent version of a browser, just to use the web securely.
As it's hard to find pre-built apks for such an old OS version, I'm trying to build chromium from source following this recipe: https://chromium.googlesource.com/c...d_instructions.md#Multiple-Chrome-APK-Targets
My doubt is: can someone point me how can I set up the API level to 19 so I can target the build to android kitkat?
Any other piece of advice will be welcome. Thanks in advance.
I have a similar problem with an old iPhone. I simply don’t know which could be the solution. Once you find it, please let us know. PD: You are in the right forum, by the way.
