Backup and Restore Watch - Samsung Gear S2

Is there anyway to completely back up the Gear S2 Bluetooth only version?
I started out with this watch using a Note5 phone. Since I've owned this watch, I've had to switch phones 5 different times between the Note5, Note7 and S7 Edge. Each time I switched phones, in order to pair the watch to the phone, I had to do a light reset, which takes off all apps and watch faces. I'm able to re-download and install all the apps and faces, but it's a major PITA. Especially because I have 20 custom watch faces that I've designed, which means I need to go into the Gear watch designer program on my computer, set my watch to debug mode, connect it to WiFi, then load all 20 of my own faces 1 by 1.
This whole process takes a good hour or so, and drains the battery fast.
Any way I can do a complete backup and restore (quickly) so that all of my watch faces and such will reappear?

I was also in the situation as you mentioned and was jumping from phone to phone for couple of weeks and here is what I noticed.
1) If I set up my watch with my Note 5, the gear manager app does backup my settings and such. Then If I do light reset and connected to exactly the same phone, then upon connect it will restore my settings back onto the watch.
2) If I do light reset and try to pair my watch with another Android phone, then it doesn't restore anything and I am forced to customize the settings again and set everything up.
I am thinking that the backup/restore file is left on the phone itself somewhere in the folder. I didn't look for it, but it would be beneficial to get that file and the copy it over to another phone - if my theory is correct.

Anyone got an answer to this ? Trying to save 40+ Custom watchfaces from Galaxy Watch 3 ...

dear..that`s impossiable..try anther way..
The question if one day I'll replace my Phone to new one (also Samsung), how can I connect to new Phone without lose Gear information ?
Alternative question how to move Gear information from old Phone to new Phone?
Can GALAXY Apps ( "Purchased") copy also Gear 2 information ?
I saw an answer here, not sure if won't ask Gear reset:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791676
Phone with new ROM (after full wipe) is kinda like new phone..
So if it won't ask Gear Reset, it can be an answer " How to connect Gear 2 with another device without reset".
I mean , if another device with same gmail/samsung account, user can load on another device "Purchased"
apps and no Gear Reset ?
Alternative way:
I have updated my S4 ROM (rooted) few times with Full Wipe.
I used Titanium backup and restored just download apps and also all gear apps.
I got many gear errors, so I re installed "Gear Manager", but somehow data kept and it didn't ask
for Gear Reset.
So maybe solution for "How to connect Gear 2 with another device without reset" is to copy Titanium
Backup (just Gear stuff) to other device and restore , just make sure gmail/samsung account are same..

To answer this question for you, if you are using the same account as the account you used to purchase the app with, it should be available to download on your other your other Samsung devices you may be using. So long as you login to the Galaxy App store using the same account as you did to purchase it.

Some ideas:
https://review.tizen.org/git/?p=fra...61208257ea00aa5c;hb=refs/heads/tizen_2.3#l468
That assignment is left uncommented in the bt-service the gear2 ships with.
EDIT: But we can patch it out!
This is the original bt-service file in my NE5 firmware:
22151f97a2b2fcd8459f0f195aae90ae /usr/bin/bt-service
Now get a hexeditor and patch 16-bit instruction at 0x20364 with a NOP, aka 0xBF00.
That is, change byte 0x20364 with a 00, and byte 0x20365 with a BF.
Using cmp to check the changes:
Code:
$ cmp -l bt-service.orig bt-service.new
131941 161 0
131942 321 277
Note that if you replace the file you will need to ensure the right permissions and Smack labels are set correctly. I.e.
Code:
chsmack -e bt-service -a bt-service /usr/bin/bt-service
With this, I can pair as many devices I want with the Gear. Note I do not use Gear Manager, maybe it gets crazy about this.
I've been trying to replace many of the com.samsung.* stuff with the Tizen 2.3 org.tizen.* stuff but it quickly becomes a mess. That patch is much cleaner...
Need
I have no clue what you meant a I've with all that and how but I need to know, does that mean you found a way to pair the watch and not lose the faces?
Backup
Q: How do I back up data stored on Gear Fit2 Pro?
A: Back up your Gear’s data on your connected mobile device.
1. On your mobile device, open the Apps screen and tap Samsung Gear.
2. Tap SETTINGS and select About Gear.
3. Tap Back up and restore.
4. Tap Back up data. The data will be saved in Samsung Cloud.
If you previously backed up your Gear data, you can restore it to your Gear now.
This may take some time depending on the size of the files.
· Music saved on the Gear will not be backed up.
· Health management apps data will be automatically saved on the connected mobile device’s
Samsung Health app.

Is there a way to connect a new phone without factoring reset the whole watch?

Like the title says. Is there a way to connect the fully set up watch to a brand new smartphone? Sometimes i mess around with roms on my phone and well... everytime i use a new rom i have to restart the watch and start all over again. I even do Titanium Backup however that doesnt help , it still doesnt identify the device. Why is it that they dont allow multiple devices for the same smartwatch?

Help me pls gear fit 2 pro 365 software problem

Greetings in the guild. Guys 28.12 at 10:28 am stuck Fit 2 Pro. I thought it would be a piece of cake, but to this day I have not solved it ... The factory settings, flash 2AQI1 and 2CRL1 did not always help after the start, I will show there for two seconds the original date and then the current date. It is not HR pedometer, storey or sensing wrist rotation. It just shows the time and date ... I thought the flash firmware would erase everything in the watch, but the bite just stored there somewhere and does not want to go away ... Anybody have advice? Thank you
Same problem as me. Reset gear did not help too.
Update: Seem I found issue. It happen to me if I use Gear fit2 pro with other phone brand with default Watch Faces )(Fitness Pro 1) I have to reset my Gear and connect again and select other Watch faces seem it fixed my problem.

Question Problems with initial connection

Hello
I've been given a GW 4 recently. However, I have a not very new, but still working phone, which is a Redmi Note 4 (mido). At the beginning I've had no problem with the connection. I was able to install directly from the store the main apps needed: Samsung wereable (old gear) and g. watch 4 plugin. And it connected perfectly. Nevertheless, some other apps needed (samsung health and health monitor) are not available for my phone (due to android version). So, to try them, I reseted the watch and connected it to a newer Samsung Phone that I was lended. I had everything working ok but it was just to test all the functions temporaly since I'm planning (but not yet) to buy a new phone and I returned the Samsung phone to his owner.
For these reason I tried to connect the watch to redmi again, but now it's impossible to make it connect. There must be some issue with the phone or something because it detects the watch sometimes, but it happens that bluetooth given code to connect is random and does not match the one that appears in the watch, or it provides a new code in the phone again while it is already in the connecting procedure, things like that. Normally connection hangs when it reaches 80% or so.. I tried a few things:
-hard reset in the watch (via recovery)
-uninstalling and install the samsung apps
-installing older versions of the apps
-reseting network settings (it cleans bluetooth list of devices)
-cleaning bluetooth app cache and changing bt device name-
-Some other things that I cant remember to no avail
Any idea on how to proceed without factory reset the phone?
Thank you
Do you have more than one Google Account on the phone? I had to sign out of them all bar my main one and it worked.
Hello, I did not realise about this issue so I went through all the possible google accounts that may have included the device, and I remove it from all of them (4 in total)
But still no connection. The best I can achive is "Please finish the config in smartphone" in the watch and stuck at 88% of "preparing your watch" in the smartphone. But even when this happens it seems like Samsung wereable feels like the watch disconnects and it asks again to search for a device and to pair with a different bt code, while samsung watch 4 plugin stays 88% progress of connection.
It's quite strange. It must be some problem with the plugin.
After a while it says in the watch that connection was not possible with the phone. And it restablish factory values itself.

Question Pair GW4 Watch To Phone Without Reset...

So I know there's a method for pairing Wear OS watches running 2.0 through ADB with the Google Wear OS app.
Does the same apply for Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Wearable App? I really don't want to go through the configuration and sideloading of all these apps again ... That's what I get for trying to do too much with ADB and experimenting .
Not that ive found.....its annoying as hell, i have a ticket in with Samsung over it, Lots of shouting at them for selling me a $500 watch that they then seem to think they can tell me how to use. I havent finished shouting at them by a long shot. Because i test ROM's you can imagine how many hours their bs costs me....
My previous watch the Active 2 was simplish, you just set the Android ID to the same as previous install...
Niether that or the ADB method posted for earlier Wear OS works...
Do you mean this method?
Because if this doesn't work, I have a major problem, since I'm replacing roms quite often.

I doubt Samsung will do something about it ; ) they are out of their mind! For example they block blood pressure on non samsung phone so good that on some samsung phones it doesn't work too and they region lock the watch so when you have a phone from different region you can't connect the watch at least easily
Maybe they think if they block everything on everything they will sell some more blocked **** you know because security!
Yesterday I tried pulling an adb backup (adb backup -all or something) and ended up with a ~60MB file.
Has any of you tried this method for backing up and restoring a backup? Might not save the need to reset and pair again, but can save some time when reinstalling.
Haven't tried it myself, just throwing it out there.

How it went in the end? If successfully, can you briefly describe the steps? I'll do my own research based on those, thanks

In a nutshell, it didn't work.
I pulled a backup, but no command would restore the apps.
This is so frustrating! I experiment with ROMs and the fact that that I have to start out fresh each time really makes me think of switching back to TicWatch.

Speaking of switching back to TicWatch, you're not wrong. The only feature that I will miss would be the ECG capability (which also is broken, no QTc value calculation, etc)

Part of this is that blood pressure has to be approved by different authorities in different places. In the US, the FDA has not approved it.
Also, the stupid resetting thing appears to be a Wear OS 3 issue. Samsung never did that with Tizen. Google seems to have screwed the pooch on this one.
The thing about being unable to pair them once they lose connection is quite a big issue.
My watch and phone has just unpaired a few days ago, and I didn't do any system mods or anything for that to happens. If I try manual pairing with bluetooth it does not work.
I'm not friend of backups, since sometimes that process import some errors among system updates. So I normally do clean installings.
I tried that procedure removing google services via adb and wifi connection but de watch didn't connect in the end. And even if it connected it seems that some apps such as google Pay etc would give problems and would require to be reinstalled again.
On top of that I'm not quite sure but as I have the LTE version I think I will have to ask to my carrier to send me a new e-sim in order to connect the watch again, since I guess they are just one use.
So quite a big problem.
The really crummy part of it all, 1) the annoying tutorial EVERY DAMN TIME. although, as of the latest update (besides a reset a few days ago, oddly enough) it hasn't made me go through it. 2) the wearable app REQUIRING samsung internet (not beta) to be installed and default as browser while signing in and through the entire setup process. these are just to name a few things.
