Overflow Property is creating issues on some android devices?? Need Help - General Questions and Answers

I have built a mobile app (a website for mobile users) using Javascript, Xamarin and Asp.net MVC. I have used multiple tools to make sure the app run on multiple platforms. And regardless, what browser visitors are using.
I have tested the application on multiple devices and works fine:-
iOS 7 - Apple iPad Mini 3,Apple iPad Air 2, iPhone 5
Android 5.0 -
Mobile
Samsung Galaxy A8, HTC One E8, Huawei Honor 3X G750, Lenovo A7010
Tablet
Samsung Galaxy Tab A P555, , Huawei Media Pad T1 7.0 U-701 3G
Android 5.1.1 -
HTC One E8, Google Nexus 9
But, when the app was tested with Samsung Galaxy A9, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Tab 4 7.0 with operating system Android 5.0. I got some weird error. If 'overflow:auto' property is assigned to a div, the touch event is disable, scroll is present on the div . The parent div of the problematic div has a property of absolute position.
While using google, I found that you can't use the auto overflow with absolute position attribute. Right now, this issue is only visible with few pages as overflow property is only assigned to pages that describe North-East region of the USA. Please have a look at this page: http://militarybases.co/directory/tobyhanna-army-depot-base-in-tobyhanna-pa/. Right now, I have removed the 'overflow:auto', you can see scrolling is working perfectly(But it is a must requirement).
Right now, I can't remove the absolute position attribute(no way), as I have spent 1 month on the design and can't redesign the whole app. But I also needed the overflow property for ^^ pages.
Failed Solutions I have Tried:
I have used overflow with :scroll instead of :auto.
I also have tried webkit-backface-visibility:hidden.
In Javascript, I have tried 'iScroll'.
I have only 10 days in release and stuck in this mess.

Bizarre forms rendering from custom VB.NET application.

Hi - first post on this site...
I've got a custom windows mobile application that is running well on many PDA's in the field - I had a Verizon HTC "Rafael - I believe" PDA dropped off on my desk and the user was complaining that all of the labels in the application were squished to half their intended size.
I did some digging and determined that there was more wrong with the presentation layer than just that - on this device.
Any picture box images are rendering at about 1/4 of their intended size and not all labels are rendering at half their programmed heights - only the dynamic labels (ie. labels displayed on the forms via code) were rendering at 1/2 of their intended heights...
As mentioned previously - this application is running great on devices like the Palm Treo, Samsung i### and many others...these devices are all running mobile 6.0 whereas this HTC that is screwed up, is on 6.1.
Does anyone have any ideas on this problem? Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
Thanks in advance!!!
- Rob.

Samsung updates Kies in anticipation of Android 2.3 for Galaxy S phones

The race to Android 2.3 updates is on. Yesterday several users started reporting that Samsung was rolling out a new version of Kies, the desktop software used to update Galaxy S phones. We were wondering what the latest release was for and it appears this update is laying the groundwork for Android 2.3 updates of the Galaxy S.
In a Facebook posting Samsung said, “You need this update to be able to get the 2.3.2 update to your Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Fascinate. 2.3.2 will be worldwide but carriers will be delayed.”
Samsung previously said on their Romanian Facebook page that the Android 2.3 update would be out by the end of March. That has yet to occur, but it looks like things are on schedule now that the new Kies is out.
Just as we saw with the Android 2.2 updates, the international versions of the Galaxy S should be updated long before the US versions of the phone. The delays might have been the carriers fault, but Samsung took a real beating since they arrived so long after the competition.
Hopefully this time around Samsung will work more closely with the US carriers to ensure their phones are updated in a timely manner.

I am positively shocked that they mentioned the US versions on Facebook. Just checked Mini Kies for the Vibrant and it is updating.
If Sammy makes this happen soon (official Gbread) it will go a long way in ensuring repeat customers.
Would be nice...but some of us just got froyo...naturally I want it though.

Would be nice...
What are the benefits of the update? All I've seen is speed. I don't need download speed - I use wifi and don't download much anyway - just a few apps. The speed I want is processor. Read my PDF files and books faster. I might not want it as the phone is working just the way I want it. How do you refuse it in that case?
I just looked it up and the only interesting thing is VOIP. I had that on a Nokia.
1. New user interface has a simple and attractive theme in black background, which is designed to give a vivid look while being power efficient too. Menu and settings are changed for ease of navigation.
Don't care - use my own photos as wallpaper
2. Redesigned soft keyboard is optimized for quicker and accurate text input and editing. And the word being edited and dictionary suggestion is vivid and easy to read.
Don't care about that, either.
3. Multi touch key cording to input number and symbols without changing input mode
PITA on the Blackberry
4. Selection of word and copy/paste made easy.
Don't use
5. Improved power management through application control.
Might be interesting
6. Provide user awareness on power consumption. Users can view how the battery is used and which consume more.
Same as above
7. Internet calling – supports SIP calls to other users with SIP account
Very interesting - But Skype over wifi works
8. Support Near-field communication (NFC) – high frequency high speech data transfer within a short range (10 cm). This will be useful feature in m commerce.
No
9. A new download manager facility that supports easy storage and retrieval of downloads
Have no problem now.
10. Support for multiple cameras
Mostly use separate camera - As far as I'm concerned, the 5mp camera in the Nokia C6 was superior to the one in the SGS4G.
I use the phone as a PDA/phone. I don't see much there to benefit me.

HDMI extended desktop/dual screen - beyond mirroring

Hello,
I'm desperately looking for a way to achieve an extended desktop on Android devices with TV-Out that almost resembles the extended desktop/dual screen experience known from traditional OS on laptops with an attached display.
In the end I want to be able to write Android programs that can decide whether a certain view shows on the mobile screen or on the second display, just like it is possible on the iPhone. This would allow apps to embrace both displays for unique interaction. Equally, by attaching a pico-projector, there can be private information handled on the display and public information on the projector.
What I know so far (please correct me on any false information):
There is analog TV-Out like on the Galaxy S, where mirroring the android screen to the attached display seems to be hardwired in the GPU, therefore not being an option.
Then we recently got HDMI-out on Android devices like on the LG Optimus Speed (2x), Samsung Galaxy S2 which mostly just mirror the mobile screen when attached to an HDMI display (except for HD video output).
And finally there are two devices from Motorola, the Atrix 4G with its Webtop application and the Droid X2 supporting Motorolas Dual Screen API.
The Atrix 4G uses a separate X11 server that knows of the mobile LCD Screen and the HDMI display (xorg.conf) and therefore can show two different desktops at the same time. Furthermore it shows a VNC-like view of the Android OS and its window manager. However, the environment is not Android anymore but embedded linux (Jaunty), therefore it would not be possible to write Android applications spawning multiple displays for this.
The Dual Screen API from Motorola supported on the Droid X2 allows exactly what I'm looking for, at least by means of OpenGL/EGL contexts. That's similar to what could be used as hidden API on iPhone prior to iOS 4 to enable an extended desktop (two separate views).
My Problem:
First the Droid X2 is not available in Europe (yet) and I already have an Optimus 2x and a Galaxy S2. I consider also buying a Motorola Atrix. All these have HDMI. Knowing all threads on hacking Webtop and HDMI mirroring, what would be the right way to go to achieve something similar to a Dual Screen API on other devices than the Droid X2?
Second, what would be the best way to integrate the second display with Android's Window Management that one could write something similar to
Code:
windowParams.output = WindowParams.HDMI;
updateWindowParams(window, windowParams);
Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge about Android Window Management behind the scenes. I would be glad if anyone could shed some light on Android Window Management in the context of HDMI output.
ANY help or discussion GREATLY appreciated.
Chris
Is there really nobody out there with an answer to my first post on XDA-D?
I've found this https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-developers/Jxp_9ZtzL60
I have HTC Sensation and stock apps are able to do separate output. So there might be vendor specific apis...
Thx for your answer.
One of these APIs I learned recently about is the HDMI Dual Screen API by Motorola. Three of their Android devices already support it.

Hi,
I've found this code by decompiling htc video player in Sensation rom:
Code:
import android.os.IDisplayService;
import android.os.IDisplayService.Stub;
import android.os.ServiceManager;
.....
IDisplayService localIDisplayService;
try
{
localIDisplayService = IDisplayService.Stub.asInterface(ServiceManager.getService("display"));
boolean bool1 = localIDisplayService.IsHDMIConnected();
boolean bool2 = localIDisplayService.IsHDMIEnable();
...
But! android.os.IDisplayService does not exists in android api and i was not able to find any jar which contains it.
Hello,
I am looking for something similar but for tablets and I have been with the same problem.
Some progress in the solution?
Thanks!
Try the iDisplay app. Maybe it is what you are looking for. ...it does mirroring to your cpu.

Dual Display API Deprecated
The Motorola dual display API is no longer supported past Gingerbread. There doesn't appear to be anything to replace it.
I'm also interested in the development of this feature. I own a GT-N8010 and would love to use the s pen combined with presentation of slides. Did you have any progress in your search?
???
Any news on this subject?
Is extendind android desktop to tv via hdmi possible?

[Q] Relational Database

Hi
I just started using iPhone S4 (birthday gift) few month ago. Now that I see the potential, I am waiting for Nexus 6 to buy in order to graduate to a higher level of use for which some questions are in my head.
Is there an Android based "MS Access style" relational database where I can build my own forms, and trigger macros and events?
Many thx
