Fast wireless qi back cover or pad... Does it exist for our phones? - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Looking for a back cover OR a qi "pad" that fits inside the phone that ALSO takes advantage of fast charging qi. Not the standard rate of wireless charging. Thanks

I haven't seen anything but cheap stuff. Perhaps phone doesn't support fast charging via those contacts on the back. Also I don't see anyone developing such a thing for an outdated phone.

The Note 4 doesn't support Fast Charging on wireless charger. If you do put it on a Wireless Fast Charging pad, it will charge at normal speed. I actually tried this with a Samsung wireless Fast Charging pad and a Samsung Note 4 S-view case made for wireless charging. In order to use wireless charging on the Note 4, you have to have a case or battery cover that supports wireless charging. Or, you can get one of the wireless charging receivers available on Amazon, eBay or elsewhere. I haven't tried one of the receivers, though a friend did. He had mixed luck getting it to charge at regular speed. Apparently not all receivers are made accurately enough to touch the necessary contracts on the case and phone.

How does the combo Fast charge Samsung pad and S-View wireless combo work together? I mean, does it heat up the phone and how fast does it approximately charge? Thanks.

The one of the wireless chargers I use made the phone too hot for my liking. The other one seemed to work fine. Haven't tried the Samsun ones. I had a wireless charging pad initially on the back of my phone, but I popped the back off enough times and it always felt like it was bulging out a little, so gave the old s-view case to a friend, and bought the one where it was integrated. Works great. But yeah, I don't think it supports the fast charging.

I've using this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301400816942?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT, for over a month. I'm using it with a "normal" samsung reciever, it works well, the phone doesn't get too hot, but the charging speed is far from fast charging, so, it is more like a gimmick.

It works well. Not fast, but it also doesn't heat up the phone. That's the reason I got it. I didn't really time it, but I would expect it to charge at the standard 1 Amp/hr. So, about 3-4 hours if the phone was totally dead. I got it because my phone was over-heating with the fast charger that came with it. I got my charger as an open box at my local Microcenter. However, Amazon has them for around $20-50, depending on if it's the Fast charger or the standard one. One thing I would look at carefully is whether the Samsung wireless chargers at Amazon are real OEM Samsung, or fake. The wireless S-view case I got came from Amazon. It was in Samsung retail packaging and sealed. It was around $31.50 and new. Fortunately I got it with Amazon Prime shipping for free shipping. I just checked, though, and the prices have gone up to over $40. There is one for $33-$34. Another possibility is buying the "battery charging system." It is basically a battery charging case, a new battery and a carrying case for your spare battery. I got it from Sprint for around $25 + tax. The shipping was free. You have to use your own charger with it. It seems less likely to overheat. It has been better for me to have the extra battery. I think I mentioned that I had gotten my Note 4 replaced under TEP, as it was over-heating. I think it was that particular phone that hated the first update to MM. OTOH, my replacement Note 4 has been very happy on PG1, which was on it when I got it. I usually make it through the day with a charge left on the battery I started with. I carry my spare in case. It hasn't overheated. I am hesitant to use Fast Charging, if I don't have to. I believe Fast Charging is more apt to overheat the phone and battery, and probably shorten the life of the battery, if not the phone as well.

are all the s-view cases supporting Qi charging? how can I tell if one does before I buy it? how many contact pins will it have?
thanks!

I use the following 3rd party Qi charging back, and although it is a tight fit, it seems to work well and says it supports 650ma output via the charging pins. It also says that it supports s-view function, but I don't have a s-view case to test with.
Again it is a tight fit, but if you put it on from the bottom first, it can be massaged on.

Technically, any receiver will work well with any charger. The thing you need to look for is a charger that can output 5V at 1A. Pretty much every charger will have that rating so it's hard to mess that one up. As far as the receiver goes, the higher the current output the better (measured in "ma"). And by "better" I mean the phone will charge faster. I have a 1A (1000ma) receiver in my Note 4. It charges pretty quickly, but interferes with NFC. Also, a higher current for a receiver typically means it will also be thicker, making the back of your phone bulge more.
Which charger and receiver are the most durable/well built is a much more difficult question to answer as there are so many to pick from. Just think about how you want to use it, do you want your phone tilted up at you while it's charging? Do you want a super grippy pad so your phone won't walk off the pad when it vibrates? Do you want it to be portable like the mobile pal 2 in 1? The best charger for you will be dependant on how you answer those questions.
Similar questions need to be asked for the receiver. Do you want it to work with NFC? Will you generally just use wireless charging to charge overnight? If so you can get away with a smaller, lower current receiver since you won't need quick charging. If you'll be charging throughout the day you'll want to get a receiver with a higher current rating.
Well, that answer was longer than I originally intended. But I hope it helps!
Thanks TM that's a lot to go on. But a lot of useful information
From my research online, the CHOETECH Stadium seems to be one of the best rated chargers (if you're not going for the official Samsung setup). I've ordered one and am awaiting its arrival, along with the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OFKS66G
The CHOETECH Stadium has 3 coils as opposed to some chargers that only have one - from what I've read that makes for faster charging and less problems positioning the phone correctly. This is my first foray into wireless charging though, so I'm only repeating what I've read online, not speaking from experience
I use fonesalesman powercard, and my trusty Nokia Qi charger. The thing is you have to find the right spot for the Qi receiver and charger to line up, then it will charge as it should.

Glad you got sorted out and it's working well. Just got the CHOETECH Stadium (which is also 3 coils) set up and the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard installed. So far very impressed - the card is unnoticeable except for that slight bulging below the flash, which isn't really visible at all in a case. You can basically 'throw' the phone down onto the charging pad without having to worry too much about positioning. So far I have only used the CHOETECH connected to a PC USB port, not a wall adapter, but even at that, with the phone powered on, I got 10% of charge in an hour (65%-75%). Expecting even better results tonight with the CHOETECH plugged into the Samsung charger and the phone off. In any case, it's great to have that trickle charge while you're sitting working at the computer, without having to plug in. Yay for wireless charging
EDIT: Got just over 10% in half an hour with the charger plugged into the Samsung adaptor, and charging through a UAG case. :good:
EDIT 2: Charged phone overnight from 1% to 100%, it took approximately 5 hours. Good thing is there were no beeps or sounds from either the phone or the charger, and no noticeable 'hum' from the charger either - so good for bedside usage

3 Coils Qi charging stand for the Note 4

I just bought a high quality Qi charging stand that I think would worth a shot at $35.99. I love its modern aluminum design and its large charging area with 3 coils. I tried it for several days and it works great and stable with my Note 5.
Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Char..._1_23?ie=UTF8&keywords=wireless+charger+stand
However, it needs an additional wireless receiver when charging my wife's Note 4. So make sure that your smartphone supports it before you splash out on a wireless charger, or you'll need to buy an extra wireless receiver or a case that enables wireless charging.

As for bedside use, I'm more into their wireless charger with lightning sensor, as the light can go off in the dark.

Does it really make sense to get a single coil or three coil? The coils effect the coverage of wireless charging area but do not effect the speed of charging, am I correct?
3 coils charger can charge with a wild area, nothing about charging speed.

Has anyone tried to use the Samsung wireless charging back with a phone case and had it work? In other words, how much "stuff" can be between the coils and the receiver and maintain charging ability and speed?

I use it with the flexible TPU case. It works fine for me, no problems at all.
In fact, it even works for me with the Wireless charging SView case flipped back and placed between the charger and phone. That definitely leaves some gap between the phone and the charger.
What case are you thinking of?
If you're not in a hurry, it's worthwhile to keep an eye on chargers on eBay. I picked up a Keedox folding 3-coils charger for less than $20 (normally $35+) with a well-timed bid, and it's excellent. I also picked up two plastic Chinese 3-coils charging stands for $20 each. Those aren't as good, but they're good enough for my old S3 on my nightstand and my wife's S4.
I do NOT recommend getting charging receivers on eBay, though. Every one I tried from eBay failed within days. I ended up replacing them with receivers off Amazon.
How's the speed though? Been wanting to get a wireless charger but the thought of me waiting for a long time for it to charge is a turn off.

It's slower than wired charging, of course, but when do you charge your phone? If you charge it overnight, then speed doesn't matter. And if your wireless charger is on your desk, it charges every time you set your phone down. That beats the pants off "Doze" in Marshmallow.
If you need a quick charge, just unplug the cord from the charger and plug it into your phone. I never need to do that, myself.

Cheap QI receivers experience?

Hi, I would like to ask you, what is your experience with that cheap S4 Qi receiver pads (for example from ebay...). Is it charging fast? How much is cover bulged? Is it dangerous for the battery?
Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
It does make the back cover bulge a bit but it's not bad.
The phone gets warm when charging wirelessly but it's not too bad at all.
Sometimes, the charging pad will detect the receiver but the phone doesn't charge. If I remove the phone from the charging pad for a few minutes and put it back, it will start to charge.
Charging wirelessly is not as fast as using a wired charger and I would say it takes about 30 to 50 percent longer.

Thank you for response. Is NFC working with that Qi pad?
I have never used nfc on my phone but I know you can get pads that do support nfc as an option.
Hi there
I have a qi receiver on the S4. My one has input: "self-adaptation" (whatever that means) and an output of 600mah. It charges at a decent speed. I use the LG G3 wireless charger and a few other wireless charging pads and they seem to charge at a decent speed. A full charge takes about 3 hours.
The cover does bulge a tiny bit, but it is barely noticeable trust me- definitely worth it.
The phone only gets a little warmer- again nothing to worry about for sure.
I am certain that it doesn't do any damage to the phone and battery. I have using wireless charging overnight everyday for the past few years on the S4 and nothing has gone wrong. I rarely use cable charging anymore
I recommend getting a qi receiver for the S4- it is worth it.
Has anyone found a Qi charging receiver so thin that it doesn't bulge at all?

Is it today something better what can more than 600 mA ?
Can you recommend something good ?
I can tell you the one from Aukey, although it uses a flat printed circuit coil, bulges a lot. Enough I didn't want to use it. It was advertised as being "ultra slim 0.2mm", but when I measured it with calipers, it's more like 0.9mm. The ferrite pad on it is most of the thickness.

Wireless charging worry free

I've seen more than a few questions arise about certain wireless chargers and restrictions, but don't worry. My wife has the Mophie wireless charging case and charging pad for the iPhone 7+ and the built wireless charging on the S8+ is compatible both with and without a case. So for anyone spending extra for a specific wireless charging package keep it simple it works!
It may not work with every FAST wireless charger... I have 6 that I used withe S7 Edge that worked great, but 4 of them do not work with the S8+ for no obvious reason....
link to the one you have....Also are you using your supplied cable?
I got the RooRoo (stupid name) on amazon for $21 and it's been working fine with my S8+. Got it for the S7E originally. Supports fast charge and doesn't have any trouble. Phones in a case and the charger is only tall enough to touch just below the camera.
Edit: I do both technically. If I need to use my phone or I am at work, I tend to just have a corded charger I use. Else wise I use the wireless stand.

I noticed that the battery temperature hits 38 degrees C when wirless charging (both on fast and normal) while not exceed 26 C in weird non fast charging, ambient temp was 19 C in all cases.

Lol, I hear you. Now behave yourself lol, you can't be THAT skint to purchase the S8+ :highfive:
This is a tough debate. Numerous threads on XDA cover this point and so many owners have damaged their mobiles using third part chargers. At the very least take a very careful look at the specs on any third party charger and ensure they are identical to the charger that came in the box, even then there can be problems though? Its a gamble.
Please look after yourself and your mobile eh?

Wireless Charging

Yup. As the title says, what wireless charger are you using and how well does it work?
I've got an old Tylt Vu from my Note 3 and Nexus 6 but I was never really a fan of it. Felt like it killed the battery life span quicker. So I'm a little hesitant about using it with the V30.
that's one of the features I miss the most since since I upgraded to U11
Waiting for the V30 bootloader unlocked version to get released.
Using the pad from Microsoft that I bought with my windows phones (yes plural). It does well, also a JBL Bluetooth speaker that came out at the same time which also works well.

Here is what I found, after answering my own question in Q&A...
tekkneke said:
After digging a little deeper, I figured it out. There are two commonly distributed versions of Qi wireless charging right now, and those are five watt and 10 Watt. 10 watt has been widely labeled as fast charging. However, there is now a 15 watt standard that is so new that it is pretty hard to get the pads for currently.
As luck would have it our brand new phone uses the brand new standard. So this means we get awesome super fast wireless charging, but it is very hard to find the pads at a decent price. Older pads do work, of course, but at the 5w speed. I tested and was unable to get any faster result from the 10w pad vs the 5w.
The 2 that I found that existed are an Incipio Ghost 15w, and Belkin Boost Up 15w wireless charging pad. The Incipio one runs $60 and only appears to be available on their website right now. The Belkin one is on Amazon for $60 but is currently backordered. There is another seller selling for $70 on Amazon, but I'm sure those will sell out soon.
Another option is AT&T who has the Belkin at the $70 retail price. They seem to have them in stock in their warehouse but very limited stock in stores.

As far as cheaper chargers if you don't want to spring for the Belkin right now, out of what was on Amazon, Anker's fast charging pad seems to be a good value. If it is still out of stock when you look, there was a Spigen one that also seems to be good quality.

I have the tylt vu -- Worked without a case, but when I put the case on (Spigen Rugged Armor) it only works when the phone is in landscape mode, or in portait mode (upside down). I'm using in it landscape mode now, but may switch to a different solution later.
Had the RavPower charger in my cart but decided against it. Not sure why. I've never tried any of their stuff before but there's a really good deal where you can get it for about $11. I think my issue was that it mentions 15W charging a lot in the Amazon page but in the specs it only lists 10W. Might still do the Belkin one. I just have to drive a bit to get to a shop that has it in stock.

I have the Tylt Vu and the Spigen Rugged Armor case installed as well. The phone does charge when put on the charger normally. I've just found that you have to set the phone exactly in the middle of the charger for it to work. If it's off by even a few millimeters, it seemingly won't charge. It's kind of annoying, just have to be extra cautious when placing the phone on the charger.
I'm probably gonna give that CHOETECH Qi Fast Charge Wireless Charger Stand (linked above) a shot.

Ditto on the Tylt Vu with case. Tried it out yesterday. I want to pick up a "fast charger" to see if there's an actual difference in charging rates and behavior of the V30. (As in, will it ever say fast charging or will it just do it and not say it.) I'll probably just pick up one of the cheapie fast charge ones although I notice they all just charge at 10W and not the 15W.

Since I tend to only use wireless charging at night while I'm sleeping, I actually prefer slow chargers, which is why the Tylt Vu is pretty perfect. I've read that over using fast charging can kill your battery faster so I only use the USB C fast charger when I need a quick refill.

Probably the heat from quick charging. I know they've been working on that and that's why charging starts quick when the battery is empty and slows down the fuller it gets now. I try not to leave my phone on the charger when it's full except when driving. For the most part, the drive in and out of work are two of the three times I'll throw it on a charger. I might bring my Vu or one of those 10W puck chargers to work and just top off whatever the drive doesn't get. I don't think I've had this phone get below 80% more than once so far. It just sips.
I have this one and first test got about 70% charge in under 2 hrs. I have a fairly thick TPU case on though. WIll need more tests, but I think it's good. What should the speed be with perfect wireless fast charge?

Ratings look good on that one and it has a built in fan. Nice.
