[Q]question on build.prop

I was playing around with build.prop, then I found certain texts. What does the settings below do :
htc.audio.alt.enable ?
htc.audio.hac.enable ?
htc.audio.beats.state ?
as for the first two im pretty sure they deal with voice quality of the mic by changing clipping of the audio. the sound is good as is anyway so no need to change right? as for the beats line im not sure but maybe if beats is enabled during your applications?

Yep, everything seems good so far. I just want to understand more on these settings. Is there a wiki for build.prop?
this link has a few things on what you can do in build.prop

[Q] Increasing volume steps

Hi, I'm looking for a way to increase number of volume steps on my Verizon S3.
I found the thread that shows how to do this by modifying framework.jar http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42631958. But I always end up with some unexpected top-level exception and bad magic value.
So I'm wondering if there is a volume mod for this phone/rom already since I can't find any.
I'm on CleanROM Seven btw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832070

Here's another bump for you. I'd like to see a fix for the exception errors.
You could download Music Volume EQ. It allows you to set a DSP which plays your music louder. No root is needed.

In my case, that's not what I want. I want software level step changes. 30 would be a lot nicer than 15.

I honestly do not think you can do that on the S3.
For clarity, are you looking for a method to make the steps smaller between volume levels or are you looking to increase the overall volume of your gs3?
Ex:
GS3 audio starts at 0 db, ends at 90 db, with 15 steps in between - 6 db per step (FYI, these are completely made up numbers)
Are you looking for:
1) 30 steps at 3 db each, making the start and end points the same decibel level?
OR
2) 30 steps at 6 db each, making the start the same (0 db), but increasing the overall volume to 180 db?

I'm looking for the first one: having more volume steps between the start and end points at original decibel levels.
You can do that through and application called. Xposed.

I'm guessing this is the app you are talking about.
I couldn't find modules related to my volume question but it still is a pretty awesome app

In one of the setting in the app, it says you can edit the step through it which will then add it to the framework.

In the app GravityBox, go to Home/ Media Tweaks and the 2nd one down from the top, there should be Volume Steps.
Go to this thread for GravityBox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070
Happy tweaking!

It didn't work for me since my rom's based on 4.1.2.
I think I'll flash other roms with 4.2/4.3 or just wait until S3 gets (hopefully) updated to 4.3.
At least now I know how to do it when I do so Thanks for the help!

Camera Low Recording Sound Permanent Fix

Everybody knows camera's mike level is pretty low and no kernel sound adjustment work/stick and for a good reason. Qualcomm's drivers have automatic levels that prevent any adjustments. Those levels are controlled from a different place. Here is the permanent fix. Just flash the attached file and reboot. Check for yourself, it works 100% on CM based roms. Maybe on stock too, but I haven't tested stock. Enjoy.
Just make sure to untick any trickster or other sound mode...
P.S. I don't know why it shows 2 files, I uploaded once only and when I remove one, the second disappears. Anyway, click on any....
Thx
THX.. Works on crdroid...
Did anyone try it on stock?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
I have compare with stock, and if I use this fix I lost some code in mixer_path. So I mod stock mixer_path include this fix.
I also add some mod for increase mic when incall and etc. File in attach add manual to system/etc.

You shouldn't just override stock xml file. You should open your mixer file and do text search for 'cam', then change the values in that section only. This way you won't be messing with other values, which may be different in stock.
Isn't it possible to add the z2/z3 microphone sensitivity options? Because on some occasions the low volume is good, while on others, you want a high volume..
its working with RR 5.5.6

Camera.apk with option shutter sound off

Can anyone please upload the original camera.apk which includes the option for switching the shutter sound off.
Not sure what you mean...the camera app on my S7E (Verizon, took the most recent update) has the option to turn of the shutter sound in the Settings.
seen not every variant has this option in setting.
Mine is TW version (G935FD) and I can't find it in setting
Lower your system volume.

T-Mobile S7E....its in camera settings Dawg.
The possibility to turn off or on is probably not in the apk itself. Turnng off systemsounds is likely the best option for now is my guess.

tried to edit and save, but it seems that without root it's not possible. or is there a workaround? for example adb?
No. Only rooted phone can modify system files. It's the same without root you can't replace the apk file itself.

Ohh, i aslo take care it.
Easiest fix is drop volume to vibrate or silent and serves same purpose. And to the question of why he wants this, does it matter? Lol why do we want any feature on a phone, personal preference.

Actually it is not. In Korea there is no setting and no way to decrease the sound of the shutter due to the law. Not even by plugging in headphones or lowering volume. Unless the phone is rooted and in that case it's illegal. .......It's to help convince perverts not to take photos up girls skirts. If it is rooted though and this may work for all phones. It did for my Korean Note, S4, and S5. Go into system/media/audio/ui look for any files named shutter.ogg or similar there will be a couple, rename them adding .bak (ex. shutter.ogg.bak) so they are easy to find and fix if you have issues. Reboot and voila. Yo will have to do this each time you flash an update.

Hmm. That doesn't sound promising. Seems like multi shutter ogg did it on the S4 & S5. I haven't rooted my new SM-G935K yet though. Only had it since the 10th, gotta wait foe the new to wear off.
If you have root there is an xposed module that will turn off the sound, I'm using it at the moment and works fine

This works! Im using FD version. Thanks
You can also use Silent Cam app on the Play Store. It works on the S7 - I have a 935FD too.
BTW I'm affiliated in any way shape or form with this app.
