Mod for double tap recent switch to last app? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Does anyone have any information on any xposed module or some mod for EMUI that will enable me to switch to the last app by double tapping the recent apps button?
I tried android n-ify xposed module and it doesn't work probably because we have EMUI.
Thanks!

Have you tried Last App Switcher? I haven't used it, but it sounds like it might get you what you're looking for: "Swipe up from home key or press the search shortcut to switch to the last app"
Might be able to add a custom button action with Xposed Additions button remapping?

[Q] Remapping hardware buttons

Does anybody know a good app to assign actions to the hardware buttons (Touchbuttons on the bottom)? Of course only for the long press action. Otherwise I think I need the defaults I found out that when you keep the home key pressed, it shows a panel with the last opened apps, and the same with the Search button gives you Google Voice. I also have an App that toggles auto-rotate which runs on the long press of the Search button. However, must apps are not smart enough to distinguish between short and long press: They perform their action anyway, and if I keep the button pressed, I can also turn off auto rotate. But that's kinda annoying. The Homekey doesn't have this problem, so I'd like to move auto-rotate to this key. Is there an app that can do this? Or some other means of configuration?
Found LaunchKey in the meantime, but it only works for the Long-press search button. Would like long press home button... No ideas?! There is Button remapper, but it says it requires root.

Or just wait a few weeks for root...

Hi, I've got a Samsung Tab S 10.5 and I'd like to disable capacitive buttons ONLY in portrait (due to continously hitting them with hand holding the tablet) on the fly. Is there a way to set for a button a conditional trigger situation?

[Q] Remapping soft keys

Right now, the soft keys on the Z3 do 'Back', 'Home' and 'Recent apps'. With my previous phone being a Galaxy S2, this is a major annoyance for me. I want my beloved menu button back . So my question is: can I remap the 'Recent apps' button to instead show the menu? I've tried some solutions like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818499, but this doesn't seem to allow customization of the soft keys I want to change. Is there anything out there that lets me do this, preferably without directly modifying the layout file? I have root so that's not an issue.
Thanks in advance

Except no roms are ready for xperia Z3 yet. Also might want to try Carbon Rom if you really liked the navigation button customization. They do a better job than CM, and have more options.

Just give it some time. Lollipop and Xperia Z3 hit the shelves around the same time, but DEVs are more interested in getting their ROMs working based on lollipop, instead of getting a custom rom based on an old OS working for a new phone.

softkeyz
therd is an app called softkeyz which is paid and requires root but you can customise everything and by everything i mean that you can customise the function of the buttons and their color
Sent from my SM-N7505 using XDA Free mobile app
coming from a Note1 i have exactly the same question. sounds like we just wait for Lollipop and learn to love back-key on the left side (perhaps that's more intuitive anyway). i still wish there was a way to generate a menu-keypress though, like a combo? a long press?
i often feel like theres a menu there, but no way to see it. is it always true that the 3 vertical dots will appear somewhere (sometimes top, sometimes bottom. grrr!) in this menu-key-less interface?
First thing I did after root... Install Xposed framework then download/install the GravityBox(KK) module. In the GravityBox settings, go to Navigation Bar Tweaks. Enable the master switch, then check the box to "always show menu key".
This will enable your menu key and still keep your recent apps key. You can also swap the recent and back button (if your used to that type of layout). And if you want even more then you can do like I do...
(in the Navigation Key Actions menu, not in Navigation Bar Tweaks)
*shrink the nav bar to 75% height
*long press back to close foreground app
*long press home to enable/disabled screen rotation
*double tap home to show a custom app launcher menu (put your fav apps n here)
*double tap back to switch to last open app
*long press menu to enable/disable flashlight
(this is just my setup, each keys long press and double-tap have multiple options to choose from)
With gravity box you can do a whole lot. You can change your battery icon to a different one but be sure to go into your phone "settings>personalization>status bar icons" and uncheck battery. If not, then when you restart you will have 2 battery icons (stock & gbox battery) in your status bar. Also, you can turn your status bar into a brighteness control, which comes in very handy, or enable song skipping by long pressing the volume keys (when the screen is off).
Just check everything out in gravity box, it has soo much to offer.

Hey - thanks very much for the tip. Haven't come across this before, but it looks like just the thing as we await xposed and or cm. Unfortunately, can't get it to work - it requires turning on universal switch, and doing so crashes my settings due no doubt to a conflict with something I've frozen... Can anyone tell me if the All in One Gestures app works on the S6 Edge? I have a S6 Edge rooted. I installed All in One Gestures app. I setup up the app to change my recent apps button to Menu and I made the long back press into Kill app. BUT when I exit the app none of my remap changes work? All my buttons work like the normal stock setup. I have accessibility enabled and all that. I'm wondering if this app does not work on the new Lollipop version on my Edge? Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me? I'm trying to remap my buttons. Thanks.
Thank so much for this thread, I didn't even know any of this was possible. I've just come from 5 prior phones with a menu button, and I hate the Recent Apps button there. I ended up making that button do nothing (I already have the backlighting disabled), set long press on the Back button to be Recent Apps, and long press on home to Voice Search. It still doesn't give me the Menu button that I want so badly, but this will be much less frustrating. I just wish I could assign screencap to one of them. (It takes me about 8 tries to successfully get a screen cap w/ power/home.)
Anyway, thanks again!

Personally I use Xposed Additions to re-map buttons, but you need to be rooted and have Xposed Framework (idk if it's Lollipop compatible yet, I'm on KitKat).
Xposed additions is fabulous, so if you can try and get that. You could also try Pie Controls from the play store (no root needed) and it'll let you access on screen versions of any buttons you want.
Hope that helps

Change Recent Apps Button to Menu Button
Finally figured out how to remap the Recent Apps button back to Menu....
Use a root explorer (I used X-plore with root enabled).
Go to
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Backup file Generic.kl ( copy it as a .bk or something )
Then open the file Generic.kl using the text editor within X-plore.
Then find the word APP_SWITCH linking with the code number (mine is key 254), change APP_SWITCH to MENU. Then reboot and your are done. The Recent Apps button is now back to being a Menu button. Life is great.

Remap the Edge
That app didn't work on my edge either. But fear not my fellow Android addict! Just edit your Generic.kl file! Change the quick app to MENU. See screen shot for file location. You want to edit key 254. Change that to MENU.
BEFORE DOING THIS COPY THE ORIGINAL Generic.kl file AND NAME IT SOMETHING ELSE like Generic.org. That way you still have the original file in case......

I can confirm this to be true. A reset makes AOD work again. It works again for a while but then stops again after a while.
Everyone new to BxActions should get the Pro version. The speed it provides, not to mention the extra remap options, are more than worth it.

I haven't noticed an option for triple presses.
Holy permissions.
Up to now I was using bxActions to remap the bixby button (single press).
I just upgraded to Pie and now the single press remap does not seem to work.
Bixby single press always shows the message 'Hold the bixbutton to start bixby.'
A remap on the long press still works and launches the requested application.
Is there a way to remap the single press on bixby in Android Pie?

I think you must disable bixby home or bixby sthg. using ADB method and then restart app or reboot.
Tried this on an S9+ with Lineage OS and there's no permssions available for the bixby button when the app asks for it, only the volume buttons....
What's the problem?
