Samsung pay beta now available for 3g - Samsung Gear S2

Just got a notification and set it up, finally, at least for VZW.
Sent from my SM-G935V using XDA-Developers mobile app

I have T-Mobile variant of Gear s2 watch and a notification appeared on the screen about an hour ago. It was not an email or sms, but some kind of notification.

I received the Verizon Samsung Pay update as well and set it up without event. I still have not received the latest Samsung update, though, including sleep tracking, etc. Has anyone received this update?

I returned my Tmobile Note 7 yesterday for the 7 Edge :crying:
when I set it up last night, was prompted for a Gear update and now have the Samsung Pay Beta on my S2 Classic, tried it out this morning and it worked great (NFC only)

Tried to add my card on my Att gear s2 3g. Says. Temporary Unavailable. ?!?!

I got the Samsung Pay update on my AT&T Gear S2, and I was able to add my Wells Fargo debit card.
I just used it at the supermarket a few minutes ago. Worked perfectly!
Way to go Samsung!

Anyone got the same message as me?

I was able to add my Chase credit card just fine today. I also have the AT&T 3G model.

Hmmmm. Dammit. Maybe a factory reset to wake it up

Factory reset worked... Odd

Just added my chase debit and credit cards. Worked fine in walgreens. I always used my phone now I can use phone and gear s2. Love Samsung!

And it works untethered!
Took it to the store and disconnected BT connection. Still worked great.

Screen Lock?!!
The watch's Screen Lock is REQUIRED. That means in order to have Samsung Pay on your Gear S2 you have to unlock the screen every time you want to do anything more than check the time. Ridiculous.

I don't think thats how the lock pin works. Only if you take the watch off your wrist do you need to enter the pin again.

I agree with malimal..only after I take off watch like to charge in cradle and put back on is when it asks for pin. After that it functions as always showing notifications. I actually like this feature.

Set it up, tried at Walgreens... No go... Though I see it worked for someone else there.

You only need to put in the security pin once after you put the watch back on. It's good it does that so others cant use your watch to make payments.

You are correct! I spoke too soon and probably had the watch in my hand while I tested it.
My opinion has gone from "ridiculous" to "brilliant"!

For those of you have SP working on the 3G version: do you have active data plans for your watches on the original carrier? I have installed SP on both my AT&T S2 3G & Note 4, have active wifi and bluetooth connections, but always get a "Failure to connect to server" error when I try to have SP transmit my credit card data to add the card to SP.
I no longer have a data plan for the watch & use Cricketwireless for my carrier.
This has been happening for 7 days now, and I've factory reset both the phone and watch over that time to no avail.
Fortunately, Samsung's customer support in the US for Samsung Pay is now working on my issue (1-844-726-7297).

I still have active data on mine. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Verizon Gear S2 3g

Hey everyone. Picked one up today with the cancelation of the Urbane. If you have any questions let me know. I will try my best to answer them.
Also, for anyone who has one already is there a browser? I did a Google search and came across a shady website for UC browser for gear. Did anyone try it or use a different one?
no browser at this point
would you really want to browse the web on this thing??
I can't seem to find YouTube notifications. Is there a way? Also, is there anyway to auto call forward when disconnect from the phone?? Thanks.

in the Gear app on your phone, go to settings/call forwarding/turn on and set it up there
as far as youtube notifications, there isnt a built in way to get youtube notificiations at this point

Thanks. I see in the settings where I can turn it on and off manually but not an option when if I am disconnected from my phone it will auto turn on.
I guess an easy fix for the notifications is to turn on email notifications for youtube.

for me, it seems to automatically switch to "solo" mode once I am far enough away from the phone, so I get calls made to my phone on the watch, and calls made directly to the watch as well..
Can you pair the Verizon Gear S2 3G with another phone not on the Verizon network? I know you would buy the phone at Verizon and set it up initially on that account, but could you then pair with a non-Verizon phone. I use a Verizon phone personally and a US Cellular phone for work and would like to pair the watch with my US Cellular work phone.
it can only be paired to one phone at a time, and, I would guess that when paired to the US cellular phone, you wouldnt get things like call forwarding and anything cellular related to work
Is the Verizon version using number sharing? Are you sharing your phones # with the watch or are you getting a separate number for the watch?
The T-Mobile version obviously you get a second number for the watch. You can use separate carriers to mix and match your phone/watch setup. I have a work phone that is set up on Verizon. My family is on a T-Mobile plan. I added a $5 smart device to my family plan last year when I had the original Gear S. I have since upgraded my Gear S to the S2 4G model. All calls are forwarded from my Verizon phone to the T-Mobile Gear S2. It also works great as a standalone device when needed.

Thanks for the answer, so you can have a phone on one Carrier and have your Gear S2 on a different carrier. I have done this with my original Gear S and now my Gear S2. The Gear Manager software really just does a seamless forward of your calls and text to your other phone number which happens to be your watch. It doesn't care what network it just sends to a number.
would it be possible to buy this off amazon or something then use it as just a bluetooth/ wifi watch? Because i want the bigger battery and the GPS but don't want to take the calls on my watch.
Yes you can, that's what I do, but updates are still coming from Verizon, that means they come months after everyone else

All,
I wanted to share my experience with Number Sync. As many of you may know, att announced that number sync was to be released in 2016. I was excited to learn that it was available early and got the update on my gear s and note 5. Sadly, it seems that att wanting to get a product out for the holiday to compete with its fellow cell providers did a dismal job in testing. After 6 hours of trouble shooting with ATT level 1, Level 2, working with a technical manager, and not with the elite support team that know one speaks to without a mediator I can say it still doesn't work.
Here is what I know:
Gear Software and Phone
Both the Gear S2 and Gear manager recieved an update. The Gear S2 was updated to have a feature found under settings then connection that reads ATT Number Sync. This will give you a pin that is added to your phones profile. You really dont need the Gear Manager software for this to work. Which is great for Apple and Non Samsung phones. The code is inserted to your phones profile on the website. The issue at this time is not with the Gear S2 but with the ATT back office and there seems to be many subsystems involved. Some will see that your phone doest support hd voice. Go to mobile networks in your phones settings area then choose mobile data if you have Enhanced 4GLTE services then your golden. If its not checked then check it. This needs to be enabled for the service to work. Now in your ATT website select your device details link that is found under your phone on your att dashboard. Then Choose Manage Number Sync. This is where everything is broken. Your phone will either say its not compatible which I have 3 S6 and 1 note 5 all are compatible and they are not there. Or you may have the wrong phone appearing when you selected a different phone.
So this is what I know. I hope this helps those of you get this to work. Its a big waste of time. The rushed out a product, and cant fix it.

According to my att contact, its supposed to work like google voice. Several numbers regardless of device. You device would work on in cell mode only. No need to have it connected via bluetooth. Your texts and voice will sync across all devices. This means you could have an iPhone and Gear S2

Have a good day
Hey guys and gals, quick question for you. I recently installed the latest gear update and have numbersync working fine however I've noticed when connected via bluetooth and receiving a call, my watch never rings anymore. Is this a new feature in the update, to take away the ability to answer incoming calls from the watch when connected via bluetooth?
Note 5 ATT Business Account
Seems to be working well. Today is the first day I will use it all day over the ATT mobile network to see how it does. I will confirm that my notifications did get a little screwy after I initially went onto ATT website and enabled numbersync. I ended up restarting the watch and going back onto ATT site and enabled number sync between my note 5 ando gear s2 watch. I think I may have needed to also check number sync on my watch as well afterwards.
Question for Mods, could we start an Gear S2 3G specific sub-forum? I think it may be a little confusing going through the non-3G topics to find specifics for the watch. Particularly when comparing issues such as battery life and connectivity issues.

Yeah I think it's worth a shot. While there was a warning that it would not work with business accounts, I went ahead and went through the process and I can confirm it is working on my business account. It was a little quirky but I was able to get it to work by doing some of the things I mentioned above.
How did you get numbersync to work with your business account since you're supposed to go through your online account to sync it with your phone? Or are you only using your watch when you have your phone with you through the Bluetooth connection instead of through numbersync

I have a business account, and Numbersync is working fine. My Gear S2 is paired with an unlocked Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A800YZ) imported from Taiwan. If you go into the Connection settings, there should be a menu item for Numbersync and a submenu to generate a 5-digit Numbersync code. Using the myATT app on your phone or the myATT website on your browser, find the Samsung Gear S2 under your list of devices, and click on "View Details". There should be a link to "Manage Numbersync". From there, you should be able to enter the 5-digit Numbersync code.
If you don't have login access to the business account, i.e. it is managed by some central IT organization, the only way to enable Numbersync is to call your IT support help desk and give them the 5-digit code from your watch so they can sync it with your phone number. Of course, your company must also have a smartwatch plan activated on the account in order for Numbersync to work.

NumberSync S3 on AT&T

I'm unable to get it setup on my Note4. I get the incredibly useful message "Backend error" from the AT&T site after I enter the sync code on their site.
Is this a temporary issue you think, or is it just the usual incompetence of an inept software developer who can't be bothered to give meaningful results to help narrow down the cause of an error?
Is it working for everyone else?
Yep, getting the same error message. Hope this is temporary!
I was having a similar issue. On my Gear S3 when trying to get the sync code, it kept giving an error message. Finally after 9:30 central time I was able to generate the code and get it synced. I think the system was overloaded with all the at&t pre-orders being delivered yesterday.
Anyone have AT&T S3 but linking to S7E 935F International phone? Keep trying to set up Numbersync but it connects to my wife's 935A. It won't see my phone. I am running Hydra Rom but the watch is connected with Bluetooth no problem.
For numbersync to be setup, you have to have a username for myatt for that exact phone. Then it will allow you to setup numbersync if that phone is HD voice capable.
I set it up on my Axon 7 without any problems.
Just tried again, same error message

According to AT&T International S7E (Exynos) is not compatible with LTE Frontier watch on AT&T due to no HD voice? Can use Bluetooth, but not the Numbersync. I'm pretty PO'd right now as that was why I bought it.
Anybody getting this to work yet?
I have not been able to get it to work. I am using an unlocked tmobile note 4. When I called I was told it was because it was not an at&t phone. What if I change the build prop to 910A from 910T? Would that be enough for it to work? Dont want to try and mess things up.

Hi I'm new to this forum. Like OP, I also have a Note 4 ATT LTE and had the same Numbersync error. Here is how I resolved my issue after extensive research:
1) Make sure to enable HD Voice on your phone if supported (for Note 4: Settings->More networks->Mobile networks->Mobile data->check Enhanced LTE Services (mine was unchecked)
2) Before even attempting to sync via Numbersync, make sure that your cell phone number is set as primary in My ATT account. I didn't have a primary number set, so I tried making the Gear S3's number primary (when I was prompted to add one) and it didn't work properly. So I learned it's essential your PHONE (the one you intend to connect with S3) is set as primary, NOT another phone/tablet/wearable line in your account.
3) After all the initial errors and hassles thereafter, I just reset the S3 after following my above instructions and the sync was seamless and I was up and running.
Hope this helps...it certainly worked for me!

The red pointer is for the chronograph function. It does not move unless you tap it to start the chrono. Bad design in my opinion.
Soo no one here might have an iPhone they were able to get numbersync to work on with the leaked iOS app?
Has anyone got Numbersync to work on International S7E 935F?
I have number sync working with my Nexus 6P, spent about an hour in the AT&T store working with the salesperson that sold me my Frontier. He was under the belief that it was tied to IMEI numbers so he supposedly cloned my wife's IMEI number to my 6P which didn't work. I told him that I read that HD Voice/VoLTE had to be enabled and because I had a Nexus 6P that was the problem. So he called support and asked them to enable HD Voice on my line. While he was doing that I was googling, found this thread: https://forums.att.com/t5/Device-Features/Nexus-6P-No-HD-Voice-and-Wifi-Calling/td-p/4346076 and followed this guide:
Navigate to Settings > More > Cellular Networks and enable the toggle switch for "Enhanced" 4G LTE Mode. However, if the toggle is missing then follow the steps provided below:
Launch the Dialer app on your phone, and dial*#*#4636#*#*.
Choose Phone information.
Enable or select VoLTE Provisioned Flag.
Restart the phone.
Go to Settings " More " Cellular networks and toggle the switch for Enhanced 4G LTE Mode, and the HD Voice calling feature should now be activated on your device running Android 5.1 and above.
Click to collapse
I enabled the VoLTE option, restarted my phone and sure enough when I went back into the MyATT webpage I was now offered the ability to enter in a sync code and it worked. He was never able to get support to enable HD Voice on their end. Going back into the setting it shows that VoLTE isn't active, I have no HD Voice option or feature in the Enhanced 4G LTE options at all but my number is indeed synced. I left my phone at home, walked the dogs and made 2 phone calls and the number did go over as my cell number.
Now the other thing he mentioned that should work is to use an approved AT&T phone that has HD Voice capabilities enabled. Then if I were to put my SIM in that phone, wait for the MyATT webpage to update showing that this other phone was tied to my number, then perform the number sync at this point it should also work, once it's enabled it won't go away according to the ATT rep. I didn't need to do that so I can't confirm but it sounds reasonable.

Why can't pin be set to Samsung pay only?

Just venting an annoyance of mine with this watch. I can't stand to have Samsung pay you need the pin on. I wish there was a way to just have the pin be required when opening Samsung pay and nothing else. I take the watch on and off all day and do not want to type a pin in everytime. Plus, if I had had the pin on when I lost my watch, I would have never gotten it back because there is no way for someone to access your contact info then. Anyone know if there would be a way to convince Samsung to do this in a software update?

It is seemingly requires a watch firmware update that may not get installed automatically, without user input.
I have only had my S3 for several days. Yesterday I was in the Gear S3 app on my phone and stumbled on a software update that had not been installed. Settings > about Gear > Update Gear software > Download Updates manually.
I followed through the process which resulted in Software version R760XXU2BQC5 getting installed to the watch.
Now the Settings, security, screen lock, usage, payments option is there. So all good for me now.
It seems Samsung has some firmware fragmentation even in the Gear S3 hardware like they have always had in their Android phone and tablet hardware. Why does that not surprise me. Hopefully everyone will get the update that provides this feature eventually.

When I had the Frontier T-Mobile variant, I did not have the above options in settings mentioned above. I loved Samsung Pay on the watch but entering the pin was a pain, plus it made it difficult for customers to demo mine.
Once the Classic came to T-Mobile I jumped to that variant and I no longer have this issue as the settings above exist on my watch.
Updates are inconsistent with the T-Mobile variants unfortunately which is a big reason I continuously jump to the next.

Question Adding eSim without a samsung phone ?

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had any luck adding watch plan to their watch 4 without a Samsung phone at least here in UK I can't do it no matter how hard I tried gives me error -1 and tells me to go away
Are there any other options to try other than buying a Samsung phone on the side to set it up ?
When I setup my watch4 I did it with a OnePlus 8T and I never had it tell me it requires a Samsung phone. My carrier set the watch up for me, I didn't have to do anything besides give them the IMEI off the watch. After they got it done on their end, I went through the setup with the app and when it came to the part about activating the network, I picked my carrier and it just worked. But I am in the US.
My only advice is contact your carrier

I'm getting the same issue connecting my Watch5 with my Vivo X80 Pro. Trying to sort it out with EE but they've not even gotten to the point about me not having a Samsung phone, so that's something to look forward to.
Did you ever get it sorted with yours, and if so how?

So its just a classic EE moment (just like how you cant add your watch plan to non approved watch as they dont do qr codes) they added intentional restrictions to shift more samsungs
in the end i bought a s10 from giffgaff refurbished set up my watch then returned s10 reset watch without wiping esim and set it up with my current phone and works fine

Managed to borrow a Galaxy A41 from a friend while I was waiting for the returns pack from EE; set up the watch no problem. Reset to transfer to my Vivo - doesn't even see the phone in Bluetooth menu now, so won't pick it up in the Wear app
I did manage to repair it with my old phone though (Realme 8 Pro), so not sure if a hard reset on my phone is needed. I'd rather not have to do that though, as it's a faf to have to set up banking and stuff again after
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I got it working.
I connected the watch back to the Galaxy A41. All good so far.
I then connected the watch via the watch's Bluetooth menu to my Vivo phone.
The Wear app on my Vivo then saw it, but couldn't set it up (assuming as it's already set up on the Galaxy).
I reset the watch again but left the Wear app on my Vivo with the watch visible in the "pick your device" screen.
It worked, including the mobile plan. All good. What a fecking nightmare.
