Depends, are you talking about stock-based or custom?
I mean both, stock-based and customs

Looks like a good time for you to start making ROMs then. :silly:
I really really wish to be able building Roms. But i don't know where to Start...
The lack of roms is probably because of Sony AOSP not being quite 100% yet
As for stock roms its rather hard dealing with a 2.5GB /system

I'm just wondering if there is another phone build that is compatible with the XT897 (i.e. there aren't very many available ROMS for this phone so could I try to install a ROM for lets say the RAZR build on the Photon?
What ROM were you looking for?
If it's built from source, rebuilding it for the Q would be a better idea, and really not that difficult.
I think we've got plenty of ROMs. CM10.2,Liquid Smooth,PacMan and Carbon. I'm still waiting for Liquid Smooth 3x.

There is a family of MSM8960 phones (Photon Q, Razr M, Razr HD, Atrix HD). If a ROM port exists for one of them, it will be easy to port, but has to be slightly reconfigured. In short, you cannot flash other phones ROM directly.

Right now I'm running cm10.2(nightly) on 4.3 os and I love it! I just like taking different ROM's and playing with them. The phone that i had before this one was the Nexus S 4g which was probably one of the most amazing phones I've ever had and I miss it dearly(got water-damaged) because of the fact it was compatible with almost any ROM I found. Even had GS3 stuff running on it at one point. SlimRom was my favorite but I have been wanting to try out paranoidAndroid and the like but wasn't sure if it was compatible with the photon Q. I do like Carbon as well.

So would you just change up stuff in the build.prop to make it work?

Hey don't get me wrong....Carbon is an awesome rom and Liquid Smooth has a lot of potential. I haven't tried PacMan yet though.

There's a few tweaks the Q needs. Again, if you have a ROM you want that there is source available for - it can probably be rebuilt for the Q from source.

Overclock is a kernel thing. You can do that on any ROM.
I just Googled Photosphere (had no idea what it was ) and it says a 4.2 feature? Most of the 4.2 ROM's should have it, I would think the 4.3 ones would as well, although they are maturing obviously.

That's what I was thinking... I guess even the name of Android is for sale.
It is Google after all! So who's making bets on Android 5.0? Lucky Charms?

I was just talking to some friends of mine today about Google back in the '90s making their first million from selling ad space.....I remember that like it was yesterday. Then Yahoo comes along and so begins the Battle of the Search Engines on the Nasdaq.

It depends on the ROM you choose to install. Some ROMs have no more features than stock but have code optimizations that can give you better battery, audio, or just a speedier experience. There are other ROMs that give you features yo never even knew you wanted lol.

There are many benefits of using a custom ROM: better performance, battery-life and customisation to name a few.
As for custom rooms, you've got me there.
Hey!Which KitKat rom works best on Xperia L? There are many fixes, so I think that Android 4.4 is ready to daily use. But I don't know which rom is best:CM11, AOSPA Beta-6 or SlimRom?

I suppose you really wanted to ask was which KitKat ROM is stable and with least bugs at the moment and you got the reply accordingly!
However, to a normal user it might look as ROMs being compared which is against XDA policies. I suppose changing your words of your posts be great!
Every ROM is developed after a lot of hard work and telling one ROM is better than another doesn't seem fair either as everyone has different level of skills ! Not just that, one ROM which you prefer might not be suitable for someone's else daily use!

The developers usually write the bugs in the ROM with screen shots and what exactly the ROM has to offer!
If it interests you, go ahead and flash it !
You can ask for bugs, usual problems etc but not compare ROMs like : this ROM is better than this but you can give opinion like : I like this ROM as I find this x feature useful..

The only reason why I stated AOSPA beta 6 was because I've heard users saying that it's the most efficient Kit-Kat rom. (bug less)
Not because it's better than the others.

But best bug free ROM is coming...
Yeah guessed it right CM11 ....

No comparison threads between ROMs and kernels as these aren't allowed on xda. Reported.
Attention New Users!
"Best ROM/Kernel" threads are not tolerated on XDA. Why?
Because what somebody may say is a good ROM, may not work well on somebody else's device. Or Somebody else may not just plain like it.
Everybody has a different requirement, and things like this are considered "subjective". To determine what may be best for you;
1) Read the last several pages of a popular rom thread to determine any new issues in the latest release.
2) Try several ROMs to determine which you like, or works better for your taste.
3) Read the "Original Post" for known issues.
This is the only way to determine what is right for you.
Thread is closed.
Cheers!

I am going to try and develop a Cyanogen Mod ROM for this phone. I hate Touchwiz and I want AOSP.
I rooted my 6045O last night and I'm excited to try a ROM on this phone. I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...om-cyanogenmod-12-1-alcatel-onetouch-t3225533
But I wanna make sure it's the best ROM for this phone.
you cant read idol 3 section?
Wow thanks for being friendly to the new guy. As I stated, I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better ROM that you guys might know of before I put time into learning about that one.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.
I didn't see a DCZ thread?
Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
If you gonna flash a ROM know that besides dcz, only fully working ROM is cm12.1 also I'm using 60450
Ok so those are my options. Thanks. Do you know any pros/cons of one vs the other?

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.
I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol
Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.
Sent from my 6045X using Tapatalk
Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.
