PureCM OTG option - General Questions and Answers

Hello there, I am new here and I am not able to post directly in the right post, so I will start from here as instructed.
I flashed my OP3 with cm-13.0-20160823-UNOFFICIAL-PureCM-oneplus3 because the stock ROMs 3.2.6 and 3.2.7 don't work with 2 important tools I use very often. These tools are Drivedroid and Airdroid airmirror function, both essential in my opinion. So, I installed PureCM and I love it, ran into some issues but after two clean installations I was able to get rid of them, one was no home or fingerprint sensor at all and the other one was push for Blue mail not working.
The only thing that I don't see on my phone or any post is how to enable OTG. I read on the main thread that the development on this has stopped, but I see nightly updates coming in. Anybody out there using PureCM with OP3 with OTG enabled?

Move .xml file to /system/etc/permissions.
Set permissions to rw -r -r
Reboot!
If u can't download the XML file then download from

Hi, I found this file already on my folder. I believe that you were maybe trying to help me with Oxygen OS and the USB host issue in drivedroid.......? Thank you, but I am not on Oxygen anymore, I am using PureCM and I am trying to find an option to enable OTG on it.

Reread that thread. The answer is in there.
Hint: ROM flash packages never put anything in /data
you can preinstall apps to /data/app but it takes update script modding. if you havent figured it out it is a lot easier to add them as system apps in /system/app
@Dani897: I try adding apk to /system/app or /data/app but none are working. When I add apk to /system/app; after the rom flashed and reboot, Samsung kept on flashing forever.

no in a terminal emulator or in linux. they get screwy sometimes if you do editing in windows. i cant even seem to get ownership of one of my flash drives on my linux machine after i formatted it with windows.
if you are on a mac you can do it by clicking and choosing "get info" from the context menu apparently but i dont own a mac so i dont know.
i never used it but check out cygwin and do some googling on permissions in terminal/console. it might be best if you are not ready to install a new os. but you can also install ubuntu with the wubi installer inside windows of use a vm with osx or the linux distro of your choice pretty easily. please dont ask for support questions on doing those things.
you can find permissions of files in a directory with ls -l
you can change them with chmod an ususally one of the numbers below but there are others, google is your friend
666 is rw-rw-rw
644 is rw-r--r-
777 is rwxrwxrwx
755 is rwxr-xr-x
644 or 755 are the most likely that they should be.

I have the same problem, I deleted the partition /persist and now does not turn on Wi-Fi, my folder has only one binary, do not know what the solution.
Edit: We need a binary and a folder in that partition, I guess flashing one. Zip partition be solved, just do not know how to do it, I need the files to assemble. I do not know if we can assist in that, since I have already used the RSD lite for flashing full firmware and nothing, you can not, brand error...

Any Terminal Emulator/SSH client (connect to local) will allow you to type chmod (modify file permissions)/chown (modify file ownership) commands - you need to be comfortable with using command line interface in Linux.
Alternatively, most file explorer apps (like ES File Explorer) will also allow you to change file permissions/ownership.
You will have to allow root access for the terminal emulator or file explorer.
I have the same problem. It's possible to have the solution step by step please?
I have Windows and the official ROM is in Motorola Razr HD (4.1.2).
Where to copy the file?

I do have Terminal Emulator and File Manager (both came with Pacman Rom)
1. Am I supposed to create a folder called persist and move the bin file in there?
- This did not work for me
Please Help, thanks!!!
Got it to work, here are some instructions that worked for me, used the bin file as opposed to zip and root explorer made things easier...

Recovered my phone
I had this issue as well. I'm posting my results here in hopes that it helps someone somewhere who encounters the same issue.
I have a XT925 (Motorola Razr HD) with Clockwork mod recovery, unlocked bootloader and Slimkat 4.4.2 Build 3 Rom. I decided to update my bootloader to 4.4 compatible version, but in order to do that I first needed to downgrade to stock 4.1.2 I follow the stepshere for my device.
I somehow ****ed it up with an old version of RSD lite and after much work with command lines, flashing different recoveries, backups and shifting through kitkat versions I ended up with out wifi no matter what rom i was on. I flashed back to stock with RSD -no wifi, restored a backup -no wifi, upgraded rom version -no wifi. I cleared partitions, wiped numerous times.
To make a long story short, the solution in this thread worked. Simply put:
Ensure you have root access and a working ROM.
download a copy of the mentioned wlan bin file (mirror at the bottom)
get your hands on es explorer
connect your device via USB
place 'WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin' file somewhere where you can find it easily using ES explorer
enable root add on for es explorer, its in the settings list
move it to /persist, it's in the root.
hold on the file and select 'properties' or something to that effect.
change (or rather ensure) the permissions are READ & WRITE only for both owner and group (-rw -rw ---)
underneath permission you should see owner: set that to WIFI
exit and reboot
I know this is just reiterating what xXLuHXx, and many others have posted, but i wanted to ensure it was clear. You can do this via command line with adb I'm sure, but this is a fool proof way, and it worked for me.
Here are some links:
Es Explorer apk
Mirror for WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin (not sure if its the same link as the others have posted, but it's here)
Hope this helps someone

[DEAD][Script][4.4.2] How to make all apps read External SD Card

This fix Requires ROOT and Busybox installed to /system/xbin
Context: I have been looking for a way to make an app that hides files to read/write files on my external SDcard, The way I found was to edit the platform.xml file to add that missing line as guided here: LINK this is just one of the many articles saying the same thing. which helped some apps work, but not the one i was looking for.
Reason: the point of this script is to make it so you do not have to set permission to the "media_rw" folder after every reboot manually.
Steps:
1) Follow and complete guide linked above, or any other similar guide, if you have not done so already.
*NOTE* some custom ROMs have already implemented this fix
2) After reboot use an app that allows you to make scripts (Ex. Rom Toolbox) this guide will use Rom Toolbox app
- create new script, name it whatever you want. I named it "sdcard permission"
- input this line and save:
Code:
chmod 777 /mnt/media_rw
*NOTE* you do not need to put it as 777 but it is what worked for me as it gave full read/write/execute permissions
3) Set script to run at boot
4) Run script manually then check app to see if it worked
-Alternatively go check /mnt/media_rw to see if it has the new permissions
Now you should be able to access the external SD card after every boot.
NOTE: you may need to redo the guide in the first step after switching ROMs as the new ROM may not have the fix implemented.
Reserved just in case

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and been trying all kind of things to get to media_rw folder to keep its read writable and nothing worked so far. I did everything in you post to see if it would help/work but script not working. I can only keep permissions if I set manually set permission using root browser and then it working until I reboot the phone and I tried adding the script using ROM Toolbox pro but its not even changing the media_rw permission when run it.
This my first time using the script tool but to me seems to be setup properly. If needed I will get some screenshots of the script windows to show how I set it up. I am just posting this now to see if anyone can help or wants to ask some questions.
I know how permissions work in Windows and getting up to speed with Android. I been trying to make the media_rw folder r/w to be able to able to path it to my Titanium Backup folder on my external SD.
This looks similar to setting boot bat files in Windows so I know it should work but no go so far.
Heres the screenshots of my script that failed to run and the output file hoping to get some advice why script did not work.

Honestly I am not to sure, I just assumed xbin was the right one as a lot of older mods and roms required busybox on xbin. so i tried it and it worked.

FEATURES
[*]Copy system.img
[*]Copy boot.img
[*]Backup efs
[*]Logcat
[*]Backup and Restore Contacts
[*]Out For A Rip
Munky-tool will locate and copy most partitions without you having to track down paths. This is convenient if you use a ROM kitchen, or just want to make a backup of your system without using custom recovery. Some devices do have weird partition names, and munky-tool will not find them. If this happens to you, run the following command in terminal emulator
Code:
ls /dev/block/platform/*/by-name
Paste the output and your device name in the comments, and I will work your device in if possible.
INSTRUCTIONS
Download zip or clone git
Place extracted munky-tool folder in system partition (must be able to set permissions)
Set permissions of munky-tool script (not the directory) to at least 775 (rwx rwx rw)
Open terminal emulator and key in 'su' for root permissions

On the right side of page near the clone url, there should be a button that says download as zip.
Just realized you have to be in desktop view to see the download as zip button. I will post an additional link a little later.
Just added backup and restore contacts.

Thank you.
I've been working on the same sort of thing, and trying to figure out how to get adb connected to the phone with debugging off, for those people (I won't use the word I'm thinking of) who don't make backups, then break the screen, or bootloop the phone. Your script makes finding the data partition trivial, but I'm still working on the "force debugging on from outside" part.
But munky is going to be part of my phone from now on.

It is usually done in bootloader, but I am pretty sure I can make it work. Just need to test it before I release it. I am also going to release this as an apk soon. (Don't know how soon, but I probably won't have time for a few weeks)

Yeah, I think it will fill a need. I am going to do an APK to do the things from this script, and a corresponding GUI Linux package for APK modding, and maybe do something for Windows as I get time. In the process of moving somewhat unexpectedly, so it is taking longer than I would have liked.

Quick way of accessing screen to broken devices.

Hi,
So my screen broke yesterday and I needed to check my phone for missed important calls. I know there is lots of solutions out there, but I needed a way access your screen without the installation of any software on your phone. I was lucky because my digitizer still works so I can still use the touch feature and figure out on my screen where to press . I figured i would post it, might save someone someday....
Note: Works on Android 4.0 +
You need to have have developper options enabled so this can work. So first of all, I need to enable ADB from recovery. There is lots of post on the forum and google, so I will not cover this part.
Once I had ADB enabled, I wrote a small batch file that would take a screenshot from my phone, then pull it to my pc, wait 1 sec, then restart. After I used chrome and a auto-refresh extension to refresh the image every second. I will assume that you have ADB installed and all drivers for adb working. Here it goes
1. You will need to create a batch file. Open notepad and paste this into it.
Code:
:start
adb shell screencap -p /sdcard/screen.png
adb pull /sdcard/screen.png
timeout 1
goto start
Save it as ss.txt, or whatever you like. Then go to desktop and rename ss.bat or "whatever you like.bat"
This may vary a bit if you do not have an SDcard, or if your directory is not named the same way, So change SDcard to the name of your storage folder.
Copy it to your adb directory.
2. Open a Command Prompt as Admin change directories to ADB folder. Once you are there, just type ss and the batch should start.
3. Open chrome and install an auto-refresh extension. I used this one:
HTML:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/easy-auto-refresh/aabcgdmkeabbnleenpncegpcngjpnjkc?hl=en
4.Then open your c:\ drive in chrome (type in the address bar file:///C: ). Navigate to your adb folder and open screen.png.
5. Start auto refresh on screen.png opened in chrome and set to 1 second.
Now you will have a screenshot of your phone being refreshed every second! I agree its slow, but its an easy way to get on your phone and configure other applications such as vnc or other stuff or just to get the phone number of that hot date you had last night.
Other thoughts: I your digitizer is broken, you can always just get a USB on the go adapter and plug-in a mouse and use ADB over wifi.
I guess you can also use an usb micro to hdmi adapter and plug it in to a monitor, they have them at bestbuy for 20$ if you dont want to make your life complicated.
Have Fun!

Should of mentionned, dosen't work with gingerbread, you need 4.0+ if i recall correctly. Maybe, if your lucky, the manufacturer may have included their version instead of screencap since it did not exist back, i would take a look in the bin folder to try to find an equivalent if not you are out of luck with this method.
