Lightweight ROM? - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hi Guys,
I switched from Galaxy S4 I9500, and has no complain so far. My last ROM for S4 is a stripped-down barebone stock samsung ROM and I enjoyed the stability and lightweight very much.
So I'm going for similar approach for my 4C. Is there any ROM that has the least (or none at all) bloatware, stripped to its core, but is also rock solid stable and good battery life?
I took notice on SlimRom, but I guess since the source material is not released, I am unsure if there's a bug somewhere. So I'm leaning more on miui.eu ROM.
Performance wise, 4C is a device powerful enough for me, so I don't need many tweaks in that department. My usage are normal phone functions, Whatsapp, and some light gaming such as COC.
Thank you in advance guys.

SLIM ROM! Thats your boy!

Slim6 mate. All the way for a bloat free experience
Also - https://github.com/reposte
It is opensource...

Almost all Roms are stable in the Forum here, with exception of cm14 at the moment, kernel sources are released for a while .
I recommend you to look over there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/help/best-rom-t3473380.
Yeah Slim Rom is lightweight, but you could try Omni, PA and RR too, battery life wouldn´t be as much different ;D.

Slim6 is pretty light. The ROM file has a relatively small size compared to TS CM13.

Actually I don't agree battery would be similar with RR, that's the heaviest rom features wise and not only. I find a sot difference it is definitely noticeable when switching from it to any other.
To answer op's question quickly, definitely slim rom if that's all he's looking for.

i recommend slim rom for you, i've used that for 3 weeks, and it is awesome
since i've got bored with miui

Wow so many replies overnight.
So the general consensus is slimrom.
Didn't know the kernel source has been already released.
Oh, and for suggestions regarding other roms such as omni, RR and PA, those are nice, but I don't really need any features. Just basic ones.
What I really need is a really stable rom because I am using this phone mostly for work.
Thank you very much guys.

That is my miui version. Can please advice how I can install slimrom on my mi4c? Thing is i am unsure if my bootloader is locked. Never faced that issue with my s4 before. Thank you.

The bootloader is definitely locked if you are using official miui 8. You can either request xiaomi to unlock your bootloader, which will take 3 weeks at best, or use this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM6cjCba44M.
I have bought my mi4c from hk gold way and they sent me this video guide to unlock my bootloader after I naively updated my miui version

if the question is "the most stable" the answer could be the stock rom... but if you want the fastest or the most smooth or the best themed, then answer could be Miui, SuperAosp or Cyanogen ( in my opinion, of course...)
The man asked for a stable ROM, not lol ones like MIUI which brings a new bug every week and not CM7 nightlies which are rebooting once at 2 hours.
@stevo the most stable ROMs you will find will be inifinity or oxygen, superaosp is good as well but those themes make it look meh...
CM7 reboots...
infin1ty or Oxygen. HTCClay if you want a CM based ROM.

Exactly what I was going to say nearly word for word.
And yes, this is in the wrong section OP
Based on my limited experience, I don't feel the AOSP-based ROMs and kernels are as stable as stock--those random reboots keep happening on my Tmo NS no matter what I do.
The only other ROM that didn't make my fingernails sore from doing battery pulls is MoDaCo, but it hasn't been updated since March.

Have you tried the ones I mentioned? Oxygen or infinity? They are stock ROMs with extra features. I am using oxygen since 3 days and I haven't had a single reboot so far, even overclocked at 1.4GHz and using proton's suggested voltages. Adam's oxygen ROM is the definition of stability my friend.
Zuluzulu has been really stable for me, infini1y to.

MIUI is a wonderful ROM. It has a unique UI and is like a breath of fresh air. It is also rock stable. It does have a slight (very slight) lag for me compared to Oxygen or Infin1ty or SuperCM7. That little issue combined with the fact that in the texting app when you enter a name you just get a list of numbers without differentiating Home from Work from Mobile makes it just a tiny bit short of ready for me to use as a daily.
I'll place a vote for Oxygen; haven't flashed anything else since I installed it a few days back. No reboots or problems of any sort, using Netarchy 1.3.5 bfs universal.

Problems with Sensation

Hi guys
First, thanks for a ****ing great forum!
love the roms, and its great how people help each other here!!
well well well..
I just but a Sensation two weeks ago, before that i had a DHD (still have), got two phone numbers now, private and business..
I must admit, i have never been so dissapointed by a new phone, as now..
Its rooted, and i've tried a couple of different roms on it.. Before i rooted it, i had 4-5 days with stock rom, and that sucked..
In compare, my DHD is oc'ed to 1,7Ghz, and runs on the RCMix3D Runny v3.3, 2.3.5, with sense 3.5..
its ****ing fast, and i have made some tweaks and uninstalled some stuff that i didnt need, from stock..
WHICH i also have done on the Sensation..
My Sensation runs with CoreDroid V.4.0 ICS 4.0.3, and thats a nice rom, but my phone still sucks.
I often got bad signal, and it falls out sometimes when im in calls, even if im in the middle of the city, and should have great signal.
Got great signal on DHD all the time.
Got problems with wifi signal as well, my DHD is by far superior.
GPS problems, it hasn't worked from the start, even with stock rom it couldn't locate me, and kept saying "Waiting for signal".
But what i find most ****ed up, is that both models is supposed to have 768mb.. i know that it is not possible to see all of them in the manager.. but take a look at this:
Sensation:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Desire HD
Can anyone explain this?
Sensation shows 583mb ram
DHD shows 621mb ram
WTF
The battery also sucks.. I need to charge it at least once everyday, and i've tried some of the tricks that people have written here on XDA.. didn't work
Then i got some hardware fault also.. When i push the screen, in the left corner, just above the home button, it pushes down, and makes a squeezy noise, and if i take it to my ear and do it, i can hear that air is being compressed out between the cover and the phone hardware..
I talked to the carrier, who are supposed to send it back to HTC to get it repaired, so gonna do that monday.. They told me to put it back to stock rom before i leave it in, so will do that..
They will need it up to two weeks. Sucks!
But what do you think?
Is there major problems like this on many Sensations, or did i just get a bad piece of hardware?
How about the signal, should i try some different radios?
Never flashed another radio before, but could do that..
Who can explain the RAM difference between Sensation and DHD.
Thank you for your time!
Search, I have answered this same question at least 2 times before. Sensation uses more RAM for GPU and other stuff so more RAM is "hidden" to task managers and system
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
Stick with the new handset when you get it and try CM9 or aosp builds.
You can OC Sensation to 1.8 stable in most cases. I'm getting just shy of 8000 on CFbench, and that's with miui.

So-called vanilla ICS ROMs and mobile gaming

Hi,
After about 1 year of worshiping Sense I decided to jump ship and switch to 'vanilla' on my Desire S which was a really good decision. I love the feel and every single tweak you guys make to turn this ROM experience into something great. Thank you for that.
Right now I've been using:
[ROM] | 12 JULY 12 | IceColdSandwich Perfecto-Linaro Edition | ICS | CM9 Kernel
Quadrant score is 1899 (nothing more than 1300-1500 on my previous Sense ROMs), overall performance is fluid and I'm happy with it, but... I also happen to be somewhat more than a casual mobile gamer and that's when the drama begins.
This ROM crashed (auto-rebooted) only once for me (while using Instagram), but freezes happen a lot while gaming. I know it has a lot to do with kernel 3 source not being released etc.
My question is: will switching to:
[ROM][090712]Unofficial AOKP for Desire S [BETA][4.0.4][Milestone 6][Ext. CM9 Kernel
improve gaming experience in any way, or is it just not worth the hassle with changing the ROM?
Maybe some of you used both of these ROMs. If not, many of you are much more experienced in the topic than I am anyway, so I'd be really grateful if you could provide me with some input.
Once again thanks to all the devs for your hard, passionate work, and to all the rest that test it.
This is because Icecold and other ICS and JB ROM's are based on an old kernel with loads of workarounds.
It is known that it causes kernel oops(hang) under heavy graphics(3d) and webpage load.
Low graphics (2d) games like doodle jump work well.
Tapatalked from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3 sources. WAKE UP HTC!!!!!!
So, as I understand it, switching between these two ROMs (or, for example, CM9 alpha for DS) won't make any significant improvement, am I right? And what after HTC finally releases kernel 3.x sources (after OTA 4.0 update)? Is there a chance for really stable ICS ROMs in terms of gaming, camera working etc. on the Desire S?
Yes, switching to CM9 will not make a difference.
After kernel sources are released, it definitely will improve.
We already have JellyBean ROM's, guess if you like stock Google experience you should try JB ROM's in the future.
Who wants ICS when JellyBean is here
BTW camera works on all ICS ROM's

You can try reaper. It should be very stable. I never used it.

Reaper is the most stable Rom I've had in my phone, never had an issue with it, I'm quite a heavy gamer myself and have had a few fcs with ics Roms. Reaper is fast and reliable and I still go back to it during the week for work
Swyped from my desire s running blindIce
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've gone through the Reaper ROM thread and it really looks promising. The thing is I don't know if I'll ever be able to come back to GB roms after my lick on the frosting of a particular 'ice cream sandwich'
For now I'm gonna stick to my actual choice and if it eventually drives me crazy while gaming/trying to play games, I guess I'll try Reaper.
Thanks once again!
never tried heavy games on my ice ds. well, I will soon, and follow up my report here.
I've used ICE_DS, it's as stable as a rock while gaming. Too bad I'm after stock ICS experience.

I had no end of gaming issues with stock sense, inactive controls, freezing etc. Don't think I'll go back to sense regardless how much I liked it. Love vanilla.
Swyped from my desire s running Vanilla ICE v2.0
tried the CS Portable on ICE DS, working flawlessly. Also tried on aokp/cm9 , lot of freeze and fc. ah man. aokp/cm/aosp/vanilla/etc are cool, but hardware incompatible.. gonna wait for kernel 3 source thou.
Can't wait for kernel sources, will at least get some excellently stable Roms, hope lowveld makes a JB reaper

[Q] Rooting girlfriends SGS3 best rom?

What is the best Touch Wiz rom that i won't need to update all the time that will be bug free and good on battery?
Same with ASOP. i wanna let my girlfriend decide if she wants to flash a touchwiz or asop rom.
Also whats the difference between the Original Android development and Android development. I'm usually in the MyTouch 4G section and we don't have a thread like that.
original is AOSP roms.
there hasnt been a VZW jellybean leak so for stability and battery life you should flash a touchwiz rom like synergy.
everyone will recommend different AOSP roms. youd have to flash a few to decide on one.
heres a good place to start.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
FWIW im running AOKP build 5. the AOSP roms are stable, but have quirks and bugs.
I've had very good luck with CleanRom. I often see that or Synergy recommended for stock Touchwiz-based roms. I tried a couple CM10/JellyBean roms a while ago, but they each had some issues. It should be better now, but since there's no official JB release, it may not be perfect.
alright thanks guy i think ill go with Synergy, seeing as there isnt one stable ASOP or AKOP rom, thanks guys
I have CleanROM on mine, fantastic rom with solid battery life.

I was suggest synergy 73 was the most stable ics

Cleanrom and Beans16 are suppose to be stable, I have been off ics since the ported jb roms.

Quick GPS, everything working properly, smooth, fast, and good on battery. Plus tons of customizations.

I'm going to take a stab here. There might not be as much development because the demand is not as high as some other devices. I know there is not a huge user base, but also I've heard a lot of folks are happy with just having root access. The stock software is simply good enough. This is how I feel. One of my main reasons for custom Roms in the past was always to get better battery life. That just isn't a concern for me with this phone.

very true, this phone is just great with root.. but then again it would be nice to have a few custom roms to customize it the way we wanted. hopefully it picks up by next year XD
Don't forget new file system, to! A droid Maxx with root is a fairly decent device in and of itself. There are plenty of ways to modify/ customize it, even without root.
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
Thinking about picking up the Maxx from the LG G2 (and the note 3 before it)
Hows battery life? Honestly.
LG G2 has 3000 mah, and it's not BAD, but I've had every maxx since the OG, whats screen on time, how often do yall charge?
@YoungSkeezy I could get at least 8 hours screen on time in a days worth of use

With root and xposed framework I really don't feel the need for ROMs on my Maxx and Moto X. The stock firmware is just that good.
This phone has a huge user base. It seems us enthusiasts are few and far between. That said, ever since getting my first android phone, the AOSP ROM was my most coveted. The development for my choice in phones was never complete. This phone has taken over in that respect.
I love this thing and don't see a need to switch for a long time.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Great thing about this phone is that the internals are the exact same as the Moto X which pretty much makes any ROM automatically compatible (other than the touch screen buttons).
But as others have said, the stock ROM is so good that it doesn't need to be changed. Don't think I could live without active notifications either.
I noticed that this phone is not even listed on the top phones section and taken off newest phones list. I bought this phone for my daughter as a birthday gift. She loves it . Shes a texting fanatic. Shes gone almost 2 days on a single charge. Checking facebook and tumblr . 7 hours of screen time. My question is why is this not a top phone. Can a Note 3 do this? or the nexus 5? galaxy 4? HTC one?
On side note even if there where roms out there I wouldn't even think of putting one on this phone. I had a chance to fool around with it. It is what a phone should do . Clear calls. Long battery life. Easy UI. I think this phone should be in the top list.
A ROM on this phone is a negative not a positive. Kexec ROMs are glitchy and you would lose the features that make this phone a one of a kind. Like posted earlier xposed turns stock into a custom ROM with no glitchs.
I would say 70+% of ROM development is geared at putting AOSP on devices with terrible overlays. The other 30% is geared at removing garbage features from the aforementioned terrible overlays.
Once the bloat is removed, this phone is as close to AOSP as I've ever seen straight out of the box, and the added features are actually worth having.
I've actually added a few things from Paradigm (our AOSP ROM) to my personal device, but it's not easy to package for the stock ROM slot and runs like crap on Safestrap.
Frankly, i bought this device because it was already exactly what i wanted. I would never buy a locked down phone that wasn't exactly what i wanted to begin with. If it's not for you, you should probably look at trading it out for one with an "active" development community.
