[QUESTION] pdanet disrupts proxy settings - AT&T LG G2

Hey xda
Proxy settings messed up..
I forced pdanet tablet for android to my g2d80030f... :/ I believe v1.21 is the culprit as 3.1 just crashed.
I'm running @blastagator's mostly stock lollipop with magisk and phhsu. I used a mix of my own and [email protected]Äptiva's method of
1. stock
2. stump root
3. autorec twrp 2.8ish, update twrp
4. Fota dlpkgfile
5. flash @blastagator's d800 rom with twrp or LG flash don't recall
6. Flash unsu in twrp
7. Can't remember if I flashed kernel or SELinux enabler. Seems I needed a permissive kernel edit from aptivas post...
8. Flash magiskv6 in twrp
9. Flash cbump in twrp
10. Flash phh su in twrp
Then installed pdanet 3.1, always crashed. Tried 1.21. This asks to set your g2 proxy to 127.0.0.1 and the port to 1234. After changing thus setting, I cannot find a way to revert it. I have looked for proxy settings and get mostly computer stuff. Any ideas on how to revert these changes? What are the regular settings for those numbers are if I can alter them?
Mentioning you guys due to your knowledge base. If it's back to stock I need the practice, except my network device is a Samsung (smg900p) :'(

Proxy settings would be under your APN settings, so Cell Network Settings -> Access Point Names. That's what it's called in CM13, anyway. I'm sure stock is similar.

My mobile networks in the settings is greyed out. For me it's settings->tethering and networks->mobile networks. I believe my apn settings are in there? The greyed out part. The g2 is unlocked but has no sim, no network. The pdanet app won't clear the settings and save them.
I'm running your d80030b lp for d800, which is why I mentioned you. Also need to thank you for the rom and a few other things, in case the thousands you have need to go up

If you don't have a SIM, you wouldn't have APNs as APNs are for a mobile network. Wifi Settings for each Wifi network contain the proxt settings. Forget your wifi network and re-add it.

[How-To] Enable Native Tethering on G900V_OC4 - 5.0 (4/10/2015)

***The following modification will only work on Stock, Rooted OC4(Android 5.0) builds. Use on a non-stock custom ROM may cause issues***
**Required** Root access and FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet here: https://plus.google.com/communities/116661625291346007584
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash?authuser=0
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
Instructions:
1. Place the G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FireFlash app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" then locate and select the G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn.
5. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
6. From the main menu press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash (leave defaults settings under "EverRoot" and "Reboot" options).
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system, flash the .zip, then reboot. Done!
Quick question.... downloaded the new OC4 Tether Addon from your link above and the filename says remove??? I'm pretty sure you had posted earlier in one of your other threads a method to remove the tether addon so you could take the OTA, but I'm trying to flash the stock root OC4 and want to enable the tether. Just wanted to make sure I got the right file. Thanks.

Sorry, I uploaded the wrong file. I will upload the correct one in a few.
EDIT: link corrected.
Awesome! Got it. Thanks so much for your help!
Thank you! Been looking for a native tethering fix. Worked perfect!
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
So, I've followed the other post to obtain root with 5.0 and have enabled tethering following this method on both mine and my wife's S5. The tethering works good, but I've noticed that the only thing we can't access is Netflix over tether to either PC or DVD Player. I have searched for a solution and haven't been able to come up with anything.
Have any suggestions?
We are on a grandfathered unlimited plan, and all phones previous to our S5 we were able to root and use Wifi Tether for Root Users without any problems. This is the first time we have used the Native Tethering app (only because I couldn't get Wifi Tether for Root Users to work on the S5).
Ok, flashed this, but how do we use it? I know this sounds dumb, but do we just turn Hotspot on, or....?
This didn't work for me. Flashfire worked fine but when I go to enable hotspot, I am told to contact Verizon. Tried reflashing but still no luck. Any ideas?
EDIT/UPDATE: I must have had the wrong file even though it was the same exact file name. Make sure the file size is 8.85 MB. I had to download from another site since OP link doesn't work.
Link fixed.
Very very useful mod. Coming from FoxFi on S3 , appreciate just being able to pull down the drawer and enable "Mobile Hotspot" in one quick click.

Any instructions for the OK3 version?

Changing DNS for Wifi/3G/4G on Android 5.0

Hey I have a Sprint galaxy S5 and am interested in changing my DNS on not only wifi but 3G and 4GLTE connections as well. Is there any way I can do this? I have tried using Override DNS but it does not work for me.
Is there anyway I can manually change my DNS for my entire phone?
Or is there a better app for changing phone DNS for Android 5.0?
Have you rooted your device? That app needs root.
Yes My device is rooted. I currently am running the MOAR Root.
there is an app in playstore named setDNS. search for it it has the ability to change your devices dns. requires root

The only version on play store doesn't require root so it doesn't actually change 4G/3G and wifi DNS only the wifi DNS which can easily be done manually...

According to the description it doesn't claim to work for 4G or 4GLTE.
best answer is practically install the app. if it works for you ..... bingo
if it doesn't just press uninstall. it doesn't cost anything.

APN settings on boost j700
Hello
Did this one get lost in web loop has anyone been able to enable APN settings in j700's
Thx wojo1971
@wojo1971 @iram you have to manually root the samsung J7(J700P) from boost, you can use TWRP for Sprint Model, https://dl.twrp.me/j7ltespr/twrp-3.1.1-0-j7ltespr.img.tar.html in odin go to options deselect Auto Reboot.
before flashing with odin add the Supersu 2.79 SR3 zip in storage, go to settings enable developer options and enable OEM Unlock. Flash TWRP, install the supersu zip. after reboot install Shortcut master lite and supersu access will prompt
grant su access to app and go to search and input apn. in the search will show a few options, you have to click the one named Settings com.android.settings.ApnEditor, save it as favorite and press launch. there the apn editor will show and you can manually add and enable your own apn, or if the phone is unlocked put the apn of the company. cheers and hit the thanks button!

if you follow instructions it works, i uploaded pictures. in order to unlock the phone for another company either you need to have an unlock box or take it to a shop that knows how to unlock correctly. the day i quoted you i was finishing unlocking one myself and i can tell you it works perfect. been repairing phones for 8 years now...
Easy way to get msl code.....
I think theres a way to use the terminal to access the apns. I found access to service programming code menu SPC. Scroll to the bottom of the pop up service menu..... maybe it is possible to access the apns such as:
su
am start com.sec.apn/.Service_Apn
Because my guide.....
su
am start com.sec.hiddenmenu/.Program_Edit
Will get you access to the service programming menu (SPC OR MSL CODE)
Thats just a example of what im thinking.....
If you check my guide here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/how-to/msl-t3628774
It gets access to the spc code also known as msl code. Just a thought.......

Hello
rooted.
installed shortcut master lite
No ROOT PROMPT as I set super su to PERMIT all requests
found teh string and added to favorite
but when I click on it. it does Nothing
SO
here is how I solved the APN problem
This procedure WILL ERASE ALL INFO on PHONE.
This procedure WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE
This procedure WILL ACTIVATE FRP LOCK if you dont follow the instructions
This procedure WILL RELOCK the PHONE and needs to be UNLOCKED with SERVICE BOX if you dont know how to unlock the phone DONT DO IT
You have been WARNED ENOUGH, DONT BLAME ME LATER
First thing, to prevent FRP Lock, go to Developer Options and ENABLE OEM Unlock (dont ask me how, you should know how or ask google)
Root the phone using TWRP (twrp.me) and supersu zip
Install from playstore or from the attachment cscselect apk
run cscselect and tick the usin root method, then change the CSC option to XAS it should be in BST or SPR
Phone will reboot and factory reset. Root is lost, so, root phone again.
Unlock phone using service box like Z3X, Octoplus, chimera, etc.
Now you can freely change the APN as you do on any phone.
if this work, use only Thanks button,
YURAIS
I can do it, just delete the other.xml file found in /system/csc/other.xml and after you delete it, restart the phone and then find an app that makes a shortcut to the apn and program the apn, because you erase the old apns.
I figured it out no need to root.
Download shortcut master
Then on app search to find
SETTINGS
com.android.settings.settings$ApnSettingsActivity
Then click on launch
This will launch APN settings menu

Any advice on how to do it on a boost Mobile Stylo 2 phone?

Settings Force close

I installed a new version of the settings app (I'm assuming from the OnePlus 7) and now it only Force closes. Any suggestions on how to downgrade it? I can't access the app info. I'm not rooted and don't want to. I also can't access recovery because I guess my phone is encrypted and asking for a password but I never set it.
What did you download, from where? What OS? Substratum (this could be it if your themed)? Logs?
It's the OnePlus settings app from apkmirror. No root or mods or themes. Open Beta 18

The password for recovery is the PIN you have on your phone.

Hi,
I had the same issue as you but I was rooted and had TWRP. I tried to install OOS 9.0.5 again but it didn't worked...
So the last idea I had was to boot on the second partition.
And it worked.
You can try to boot on fastboot and type : "fastboot--setactive=_a" or "fastboot--setactive=_b" to switch partition and reboot. It should work for you too.
Oh that's a good idea. I ended up getting one of the app uninstaller apps from the play store and was able to uninstall the settings update.

(Fixed) Oxygen OS 10 (Android 10) is not compatible with Visible or Google Fi

Edit: Confirmed fixed in Oxygen OS 10.0.1
I have been struggling since Saturday with data issues on my OP7P after upgrading to Oxygen OS 10.
With Google Fi, I was able to activate the SIM in OOS 10, but the mobile data would stop working. It would work for a little while, but then I would get an exclamation mark on the signal bar and no data services would work. Reactivating the SIM by clearing the storage and cache for the Fi application would work temporarily, but the issue will just happen again. If you are on WiFi, you will not get an exclamation mark and no data services. It only appears when not connected to WiFi.
For Visible, the phone sees that a SIM has been inserted and after opening/authenticating in the Visible application, you will get a message that says it needs to check them SIM. After hitting OK, you get prompted to give permission to the application to make and receive phone calls. After that, nothing happens. The SIM never activates and service is not available.
In both instances, Google Fi and Visible support were not able to figure out how to get their respective services working on Oxygen OS 10. I reverted back to Oxygen OS 9.5.13 (last revision of OOS 9) and both services work flawlessly. My hunch is that this is a problem on OnePlus' side, considering it is happening with both providers, but either way, I hope this gets fixed because it sucks not being able to upgrade.
Idk if it should be a PSA because my Google Fi works perfectly fine for me and I've been on OOS 10 for almost a week now

I manually installed it cause I was impatient ?. I was originally using magisk and Twrp for a couple days and had no problems with Fi or the OS. I did a factory reset to my phone and used the fastboot rom in order to completely wipe it just cause I felt like using stock for a couple days and still didn't have any problems on the OS. If I were you I'd try to use the fastboot rom for OOS10 just so you can start with a clean slate, maybe it'll help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had originally flashed the ROM that I downloaded from Oxygen Updater through TWRP while trying to preserve root w/ Magisk. After I couldn't resolve the issue with Fi, I flashed the Fastboot ROM for OOS10 like you. I still had major problems with both Fi and Visible. I flashed the Fastboot ROM for 9.5.13 and all of the problems magically went away. I am not the only person having these issues, so it seems pretty widespread. Visible does not work at all with OOS 10.

Oh man that's weird sorry I couldn't help. Good luck, hope this thread gets some traction and more people see it
You guys need to get in oneplus's feedback bug threads on their web forum and report it. Also chat with them and show them your concerns because they have no idea right now. Same problem here. 9.5.13 works but Android 10 doesn't.

Selecting the second apn helped, also enabled all Google fi permissions, not sure if both helped or just the apn selection. I probably threw a network reset and cache clear on play services apps for good measure since I was trying it all. Definitely try the second apn I've been good since I did that, no other combination previously seemed to work.
Has anybody gotten Visible to work on OOS 10 yet?

Same deal here. I just got my phone last week, upgraded to Android 10 before activating Google Fi or setting anything up. I had no problems activating on 10 and everything worked, but I would lose mobile data probably 2 or 3 times a day depending where around town I was. After selecting the 2nd APN like your screenshot I haven't had any more issues.
Obviously I can't speak to Visible, seems something worse is going on there...

Yes. I was able to get visible working on oos 10 and Omni 10. I edited all the normal Verizon apns in the config file to visible instead and everything works, calls, texts, mms and data. I'm attaching the apn config needed to get it to work. This will work on oos 10 and Omni 10 and possibly other Android 10 ROMs. You either need root or twrp to get it to work. In twrp, mount system and use file manager to copy file to /system/system/etc and chmod to 0644 or use root file explorer to copy file to /system/etc/ and give 0644 permissions.
Edit: I forgot to mention, after you replace the file you need to go into networks and apn and click the 3 dots on top right and click reset to default for the visible and to show up and then select the VSBLINTERNET as the one selected.

Are you trying to do using a root file explorer or from twrp? Also are you on OOS or custom rom?
Method 1 (using root file explorer):
1. Download the attached apns-conf.xml
2. Using root file explorer browse to /system/etc and rename apns-conf.xml to apn-conf.bak to have a backup.
3. Copy the downloaded apns-conf.xml file to /system/etc
4. Using root file explorer change permissions of the new apns-conf.xml to 0644
5. Go into networks settings and click on your visible sim card (probably shows as Verizon) and then click access point names.
6. Click on 3 dots in upper right hand corner and click on reset to default.
7. The visible apns should now be visible and you should select the VSBLINTERNET apn.
Method 2 (using TWRP):
1. Download the attached apns-conf.xml file.
2. Boot into twrp.
3. Click on mount and select system.
4. Click advanced and then file manager.
5. Browse to /system/system/etc
6. Locate the current apns-conf.xml and rename to apns-conf.bak
7. Browse to downloads folder and copy the new apns-conf.xml to /system/system/etc
8. Browse to /system/system/etc and click on the new apns-conf.xml and click chmod and type 0644 to change permissions.

9. Reboot
10. Go into networks settings and click on your visible sim card (probably shows as Verizon) and then click access point names.
11. Click on 3 dots in upper right hand corner and click on reset to default.
12. The visible apns should now be visible and you should select the VSBLINTERNET apn.

I have done it both ways and both don't work. Custom roms are a little unstable right now for me to try. I had to use file commander because for some reason root explorer doesn't work correctly. I'm on oos 10.

That's odd that it's not working. I personally use total commander to do it, although any file explorer with root should work. Also, using TWRP should work no matter what as well. Only thing I did differently on OOS was I did a clean install and then before even booting into OOS for the first time (so after clean install reboot to recovery) I replaced the apns-conf.xml and when I booted into system everything worked. The other ways should work on OOS even after the os is already set-up as well, although only personally tested them on Omni. Only reason I did it right away with OOS is didn't want to setup OOS and then do it to find out it wasn't working What is showing up on your access point names? Can you provide screen shot.

I'm starting to wonder something. First time I tried editing the apns-conf.xml and getting everything working when Android 10 first released I couldn't get it to work either, but always had done that on a already setup OOS. I'm wondering if me replacing the apns-conf.xml before first boot is reason it worked. Try taking out sim card and do it from twrp then once booted up insert sim card and try reset apns.

I'm reflashing 10 right now and before I boot into the os I will transfer apn via twrp.
