Galaxy Win Duos (GT-i8552b) root using Odin - General Questions and Answers

I didn't really find any tutorials of rooting the i8552b while searching for it, so can anyone help me?
After trying all of the one-click root apps, I came to a conclusion: I can only do it using Odin, but I don't know how to use it. I tried a tutorial, but it didn't work at all (bc i'm dumb). I may try it again later, but if someone more experienced could help me, including with download links (if possible), I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks,

This might be not for newbies but you'll get it eventually.
Find a stock ROM, then just dig around in the files and place the rooting files and superuser.apk. Then just zip it, flash it, try it. Fail? Try again.

[Q]Can someone help out an Android/Smartphone Noob

Hi there, I am new to the xda forum although I have been reading on it for quite some time. I understand all the work and time that the developers and others put in here and I would like to say thanks.
Ok so, I just bought my first smartphone(infuse) and I am wanting to root it. I have read alot on here (extremely informative forum) and have decided that by rooting I would be able to accomplish some things I wouldnt otherwise be able to do. I was hoping that some folks here would help shed some light on a few things for me. I keep reading about titanium backup and 3emod recovery and I was wondering if those are needed before I try to root my phone or if those are for rom flashing and kernels. Are there are any key things that I need to do like back up my original settings or something on my stock phone before I root it? If so, could you please explain the easiest way of doing this. Again, I am not wanting to flash roms(waiting for GB), just to root.
From what Ive read it seems all you have to do is install some samsung drivers(kies) and run a superoneclick program and thats that. Is it really this simple?

If all you want to do is "root" your phone. Yes, install the samsung drivers ( I downloaded kies mini and it installed them for me, from samsung ) And hook the phone up with usb debugging checked and use the superoneclick, it really is that simple.
Titanium backup is great so you don't have to go and redownload all your apps again, even saves the information, like if you were 8 levels into a game. Very useful app.
3emodd is used to get to the clockwork mod so you can install "roms", since you don't want to do this don't worry about it.
Hope this helped.

new easier rooting method

if you have the samsung stratosphere there is only one known root method which involves pushing su and busy box and if your like me those parts never seem to work so i found out that if you use the heimdall method to just flash the zImage kernel. you can then use superoneclick to gain root access without manually pushing su and busy box.
can anyone else confim this? i would try it but i am semi bricked from the odin root way =/
onceclick root works! just flash the root-zimage and then use zergrush
where do i find it
ok i might be new but.. where do i find the "zImage kernel" to flash it?

I am trying my best to find the info i need but so far keep failing. I am trying to root a buddies tablet for him. It is an Ematic Eglide EGLXL102B. I have tried googling for the method(s) to use but come up empty handed, I also have tried finding a rom that is already rooted and found none of them either. :crying: IF ANYONE knows what I need to get this rooted and where I can get a rom for it, please message me and let me know. Thanks for your time of at least reading this post.

I don't have any direct information available, but instead of searching by device name, search by the current Android version of the device. You may find a generic method that will work. Rooting for some devices can be trial and error until a successful method is found.
Thanks for the input. I will try your idea and see what I can find.
You might try looking here. I hope it helps.

To root you need to make sure you can atleast get CWM on it, if you can't get CWM on it, then rooting is out of the question. Google's auth has somewhat changed in the few months.

[Q] CWM XT926 help

I'm new to rooting/unlocking. I used towelroot and Moto-pocalypse on an XT926 running KK. I know that I need to use CWM to backup my phone, but all the tutorials I found online seem outdated. I was wondering if someone could link me to a more recent tutorial or explain to me what I need to do. I would really appreciate it.

please dont post the same question across multiple threads. it will not get you help faster.
you can put the cwm file on your phone and use flashify from the market to install it.
after that, boot into recovery, navigate to the backup tab, and make your backup.
there are other methods to install the cwm file, but if you are new, flashify is the easiest to understand.
Thank you so much. I tried to delete the question in the other thread, but it said something about restrictions and wouldn't let me.

How to root S7

Hi there,
I'm not very knowledgeable about messing with phones, but I would like to root my phone.
I've looked up a few tutorials and haven't gotten any of them to work.
I don't know what more to say here, if there is any information needed to help me, I will try to provide it ASAP.
I appreciate any help I can get.
The most common method is to flash TWRP, then flash the Magisk install zip
What method were you trying?
