Can't update my Xperia J - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Greetings. I have received a Sony Xperia J from a friend, and long story short, I had to install a stock ROM from scratch. So I did, and I installed the firmware version 11.0.A.7.5 from Central Europe found in this thread. I installed it with Flashtool and then I rooted my phone with the method seen here.
I have a notification telling me that an update is available, version 11.2.A.0.31, and I tried to do this. I've tried twice, but the installation fails. The download works fine, and the phone starts the installation process. It boots and then reboots again, and when the phone is finally booted a notification telling me that the installation failed.
What could I do? I want to benefit from the update.
Thanks in advance.

You can't do OTA update if you are rooted. Use XperiFirm (it's in Flashtool) to download 0.31 ftf and flash it.
Good Luck!

[Q] Where do I download stock (newest software) for Xperia Z3?

Hi
I just got confirmed by Sony customer service that after unlocking bootloader and rooting, you can still update your device with flash tool. But is their any website, like the one for Samsung, where you can find official and newest software updates and download them, so they're ready to be flashed to your device?
Thanks in advance

Out of curiosity, they're outdated stuck right?
I mean they're outdated and so. Aren't their an website with the newest possible updates?
I mean like the D6603 model, haven't been updated since september so any minor updates since are "lost" on the device, right?

I know that. I ask where do I download the latest version of the Xperia z3 software in the future.
Like if I unlock bootloader now, and Android L comes out tomorrow, I can't get it, cause I can't update with PC companion or OTA update. Neither can I flash it with Flashtool as I don't have the update. So back to the question. Where do I find new updates?

You cannot install the update with this after unlocking the bootloader but this is where you download the very latest files and then you can convert them to an FTF file and flash them with flashtool.

You have already been given the link to the FTF collection thread in an earlier post. That is where you get the latest FTF files.
Or do what I just said, use PCCompanion to download the update, convert it to FTF and flash with flashtool

Arh, I get it now. Thanks for your time and sorry for the inconvenience!
I will try search a lot more later!
Take my thanks!
What's about using XperiFirm with Flashtool? So u'r just up to date without having a look into forums etc.... That's my prefered way to stay up-to-date for all of my Z to Z3 phones.

How to get latest 18.6.A.0.182 update installed on rooted phone

Hello mods, and everyone,
I'm pretty much a noob and knows virtually nothing but is keen to learn the tricks of the trade. I hope to get your support.
I'm currently rooted (used Kingroot) on 18.6.A.0.175, however because apparently of the same reason I am restricted to only get to download the latest 18.6.A.0.182 update but it won't install.
Is there a trick to get it installed? I've used previously an app called "simply unroot" but despite this, the latest update refused to install (because apparently it didn't fully unroot the phone).

You can't update via OTA if you're rooted. You have to flash the .182 FTF to get it. And if you just want the camera fixes you can download ZIP file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/development/flashable-camera-blobs-morpho-settings-t3281766 and flash it.

Thanks aidy. I've been meaning to ask you the same since on other posts I saw you've figured this out and you're using the latest 18.6.A.0.182.
How do I flash? And where do I get a pre-rooted zip?
Also what kind of zip file is that? I mean does it contains the ROM? Is .ftf = the rom = firmware? I've seen people referring about .FTF - What is that? Is that firmware/ROM?
Via recovery? Which one to use for xperia since I see a lot of recovery tools exist?
Could you link me please?

If you haven't unlocked bootloader, you can use xperia companion on PC It will install newest software from scrach. Or just flash prerooted zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6603-5-0-2-flashable-stock-23-1-0-690-t3056361

When you say it will install the newest software from scratch, will it remove all my files or will it just install the new software?
Thanks man!

Nougat is not compatible with flashtool yet.
Yeah, learned the hard and annoying way.
I had to find an old marshmallow firmware and then OTA upate that. Thankfully I found a central europe one that I wanted anyways.

Ok, thanks. But with an open bootloader a OTA update is not possible... Or think i wrong?

Correct, you cannot update OTA with an unlocked bootloader.
So, you should re-lock it, flash a MM FTF and then do the OTA and unlock again.
Just use the updated flashtool (v0.9.23.0) to flash a 7.0 FTF
According to the changelog on Flashtool website, it now supports Nougat. Try re-downloading the latest (0.9.23.0) from: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php

I have the same problem. I think you can't install any firmware without the bootloader unlocked.

you can unlock the bootloader on latest version, you don't need to be on 0.37 firmware.
edit: but if you want to install anyway i uploaded it to my drive:

Thanks very much. I also have a Singapore version of the ROM. On the Sony bootloader unlocking page it says "Important note! In order to unlock your Xperia™ M2 you need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37". I haven't attempted to go ahead with it anyway.
Do you have drivers that work? I can't get any PC nor FlashTool to recognise the M2! (FlashTool doesn't include M2 drivers.) Do you know how I could install the ROM? I want to do so anyway regardless of unlocking the bootloader because I gather the Android 4.4 ROM is faster than the laggy 5.1.1 one currently installed on my M2.

no problem. if i remember correctly the bootloader unlock page was last updated on late 2014 so that note targeted people who used 4.3 jelly bean at the time. you can unlock bootloader on 0.182.
flashtool includes m2 drivers, you need to install Fastboot and Flashmode drivers. also if you are using Windows 8 and above, you need to disable driver signature check (google it). to install stock roms, this device's forum has plenty of guides. do a little research )
also you don't need to unlock your bootloader to install stock and stock based roms (such as Z5 Style, EagleExperience etc.). if you want to install custom roms (Lineage, RR, etc.) you need to unlock bootloader.

Thanks again for the info. I did install Fastboot and Flashmode drivers as per the tutorial on this site I was following, but FlashTool didn't recognise the M2 on Windows XP nor 7 let alone 10 (I have a lot of old PCs!). I'll try a different USB cable.

oh that's unfortunate, i'll install flashtool today and report back to you. maybe recent versions of flashtool broke compatibility with m2 (if so, i'll also upload the version that is compatible with m2)
edit: flashtool 0.9.26 detects my phone without a problem
