How to get latest 18.6.A.0.182 update installed on rooted phone - Sony Xperia M2

Hello mods, and everyone,
I'm pretty much a noob and knows virtually nothing but is keen to learn the tricks of the trade. I hope to get your support.
I'm currently rooted (used Kingroot) on 18.6.A.0.175, however because apparently of the same reason I am restricted to only get to download the latest 18.6.A.0.182 update but it won't install.
Is there a trick to get it installed? I've used previously an app called "simply unroot" but despite this, the latest update refused to install (because apparently it didn't fully unroot the phone).

You can't update via OTA if you're rooted. You have to flash the .182 FTF to get it. And if you just want the camera fixes you can download ZIP file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/development/flashable-camera-blobs-morpho-settings-t3281766 and flash it.

Thanks aidy. I've been meaning to ask you the same since on other posts I saw you've figured this out and you're using the latest 18.6.A.0.182.
How do I flash? And where do I get a pre-rooted zip?
Also what kind of zip file is that? I mean does it contains the ROM? Is .ftf = the rom = firmware? I've seen people referring about .FTF - What is that? Is that firmware/ROM?
Via recovery? Which one to use for xperia since I see a lot of recovery tools exist?
Could you link me please?

Surprisingly, this [OTA for a rooted device] worked for me [last year].

Hi,
I will be getting my new OPO in the next few days (very excited!) my question is; If i unlock the booloader and root the phone but NOT flash a custom rom will i still receive the OTA updates from Cyanogen?
There's a few rooted apps i like to use and stock CM11S will be the perfect rom for me.
Thanks

Yes you will rooting does not affect OTS updates, the only thing is that after each OTA you will have to flash the SU zip again to get back root. The only thing that will mess up OTS is if you play with system files ( forum Masters correct me if i'm wrong here ). Make a backup before you do anything and you should be good. Have fun.

If you're completely stock, no root, no custom recovery, the ota will work fine. Oh, by the way, you manually installed it using fastboot not adb. They're two different things.

D6603 - Supersu + Xposed keeping DRM Keys [STOCK ROM LOLLIPOP]

Alright guys, I'm sorry since there already are a lot of threads about how rooting this device, but from what I've seen it's a complete mess and I can't really understand how to do things properly without ruining my phone.
I need root access with supersu, xposed and lollipop, without rosing my keys, staying on the stock rom.
I read that I should backup, downgrade my firmware to kitkat, root with a one click tool (without losing my keys?) and flash a lollipop update (one of those posted there?)
Then, after having rooted via the one click tool and backupping the keys, am I really safe to flash stuff and then restore them? (always staying on stock)
Now:
What makes me lose the DRM keys? Will getting Xposed and Supersu make me lose my keys?
Is there, by chance, a way that makes me root the phone and install Xposed on lollipop without ANY worries about the keys?
Could you please answer my questions or just tell me the best way to do this safely? I'm really scared of breaking my new device, with my old Samsung I flashed what I wanted without any worries >__>
You will only lose DRM keys if you unlock the bootloader.
Flash a KK FTF ending in .93 using flashtool from flashtool.net
Root it using Giefroot
Install [NUT]'s dual recovery
Flash a prerooted Lollipop ROM.
Done

Thank you for answering!!
Is this KK FTF rom a right one?
http://oceanhost.eu/d7iuzncelhpr/D6603_23.0.A.2.93_Generic_20GLOBAL.ftf.htm
Found NUTT's dual recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/z3-xzdualrecovery-qa-t3014206
How are prerooted Lollipop ROMs? Are they just the stock rom with supersu installed.? And then I just have to flash Xposed via the recovery?
Also, could you please link the right prerooted Lollipop ROM? I can't find that one

THANK YOU!!!
I'm going to do it, I'll write the results after I test it a bit : ) Thank you again!
Alright it's perfect
There's just one thing that didn't happen before...
Messenger won't open when I use the facebook app, it uses the ugly standard app by default and I don't know how to change that, I've already tried unistalling both, disabling Xperia with Facebook and it didn' work!
I don't know if it's a feature of the pre-rooted ROM or something else, does anybody know anything about it?
It never happened on my old rom, can't find anything about it on Google

Phone rooted - How about the monthly security patches ?

I was wondering, I have rooted my phone using Chainfire's CF-Autoroot.
Normally this will disable OTA updates, I'm aware of that.
But is there some way to manually flash the monthly security updates that Samsung releases each month ?
(or at least they say they are going to release them each month).
Is there a source somewhere where we can download them and flash then using Odin or TWRP ?
No you didnt root. There isnt full root for s7 yet

Are you sure ? Because when I check manually for updates, I get the message stating that my phone has changed (root) and so updates cannot be downloaded and installed. It says that I need to try to download it via a PC tool from Samsung.

There very well is for the Exynos version/type and the reason I'm tempted to get it after prices have dropped a bit :
Check it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770
Ok guys, now that we have established that root is available and working for the European version (which I have)...
Anyone know if the monthly patches from Samsung/Google will be available for download somewhere, so we can flash it manually and still be up-to-date ?
I would like to know this as well. I would guess they could be flashed with Odin?
I would like to know this. I am on the W8 variant rooted with autoroot and wondering how will I go about updating to new patches.

I love Android.
you should flash your firmware via Odin to unroot, apply OTA, root again with auto root.

Yes, I am aware of this possibility.
I was just hoping in applying the monthly patch without full flash (which completely wipes the phone).
Indeed, flashing will reset the phone...I found that the hard way last night.
There is a topic on S7edge forum about Chainfire's FlashFire app. It claims that can flash without resetting the phone.
Did not try it but I will follow the discussions there. Would be perfect to flash a new f/w and not have the phone reset. ( like good old times
Maybe it is possible to prevent the userdata and internal storage to be wiped by flashing the official firmware ?
Anyone has succeeded to do so ?
I managed to download the complete new firmware G935FXXU1APD3 from Sammobile and flashed it with ODIN with the phone in download mode.
It did not overwrite any of my personal data or apps and the phone worked as before however you will need to root again afterwards, but that doesn't take long anyway.
The only other thing I had to do was copy the mixer_paths and mixer_gain files to the SD card then replace them as the new firmware overrides the volume hack if you have it in place.
Keith
I guess that's what Chainfire trying to achieve with Flashfire. To be able to directly flash the Updates without having to manually backup/restore anything. Let's see how this goes. As of today you could flash the full oding images within flashfire.
Will definitely try when the next update for my phone variant comes.
I did take a TWRP backup just in case but was pleasantly surprised when the phone booted back to where it was.
I can confirm that the Flashfire method can be used for updates. Grab the update package, flash it through flashfire, and even select the "ever root" option to maintain root. Works great!

How did you get the update package? When trying to search for an update on the phone it says I modified it.
Or did you load an full stock rom?

Grabbed a full stock rom, extracted the modem and system packages, and flashed them specifically through flashfire. A link to the full stock rom was posted on the Canadian S7 thread in the discussion forum.

You can do two things:-
1. Flash full Stock ROM of your device and then it Will fix you problem.
2.You can manually download update.zip file from nexus official site or search for it on google.
