Hello
As I have already ruined 80 euros worth of glass screen protectors (I even used the shower method but dust kept coming underneath it and cleaning it with soapy water didn't really help.) I'm now looking for a case that also protects the screen. The otterbox defender caught my eye but I'm wondering if the screen protector will mess with the vibrancy of the colors.
Best method to apply an screen protector is :
Gather the stuff in your room before going to sleep at night , besides the screen protector kit include a transparent glass cleaner spray (not necessary but useful to be in spray) and a extra clean cloth and gloves (if you have hairy hands).
Then next morning as soon you wake up and before you open any door or windows, get your phone, clean carefully, place the screen protector at its ideal position then hold at its ideal position with tape (some kits include if not your case get tape before gather in your room) and then apply generous glass cleaner liquid enough to cover all the screen surface under the protector and the screen surface, but not too much as this could drain into your phone, then apply the screen protector on the wet surface, remove air bubbles and Woallah your screen protector it's perfect.
I used to be fan of Otterbox products but lately don't offer the best protection for that bulk if you are really concerned on protection other choices are better (and maybe cheaper too).
I use Speck candy shell on my note 2 and I have ordered (delayed at customs) an Spigen armor lite view for my new S4.
As screen protector I avoid glass based I prefer Buff brand (layered polycarbonate and soft polyethylene) are cheap (at least I find it cheap in my neighborhood) and offer and outstanding protection and I replace it every 3 months w/o complaint.

Thanks for the tips an all but I'd like to know if the screen protector from the otterbox holds back the colors of the screen.
Not really. At least not when they're new. If the screen protector gets scratched up then it may, but they're pretty transparent right out of the box.

IMO it does take away from the screen. I used one for several months and when I took it off to clean it I noticed how much it dulls the screen color and sharpness. I ended up getting the otter box commuter and can now enjoy the great screen on the S4.. But if you are hard on your phone you can't beat the protection the defender gives you.
I have the otterbox defender and scratched the built in screen protector badly after only one week. I unpeeled the cases plastic lens (double sided stick tape) and just put an ordinary 1 time use screen protector on my phone. They fit very snug together and seem to work the best for touch response and all of the other no touch scroll stuff.

I too have a defender. Unless their screen protector is damaged there isn't much of a difference in clarity. I managed to dent mine in two places which caused a slightly rainbow effect at those points but mire annoyingly two bumps that I constantly ran my finger over.
I purchased a few xtremeguard screen protectors for $1 each, popped out the defender plastic piece, and voila good as new. Plus if anything happens, I have extras.

About Otterbox Defender case
I've brought the Defender case over the weekend so far it's really good how it hugs the phone and rubber not being flimsy or loose. The built in screen protector does take away from the screen clarity but it's not as bad as the some screen protectors that have a matte finish (anti glare). I've gotten used to it and does not affect the sensitivity of the touch screen. Only con so far is the home button cut out dust can get in there especially if you're always around a dusty environment it can be annoying having to take it apart to clean under it.

I know youre asking about the otterbox but I thought id throw this out there. You might to check out the trident kraken ams. It has a built in screen protector and it doesnt dull the screen. The only complaints I have about it is it has the dot matrix built in and otterboxs belt clip is better as well. In my opinion the build quality is a ton better plus theyre a bit cheaper as well. Theyre customer service trumps otters as well. I cant stand taking the 4 pictures when dealing with warranty issues.

** @ZEROLEMON_OFFICIAL has asked me to make this thread to review their new glass screen protectors. Please don't start your own thread and leave all feedback on this thread. Thank you.**
Hi guys well this is my review of the ZeroLemon 9H Ultra Glass Armor tempered glass screen protector. I liked the packaging. Straight forward, easy to open. It came with the screen protector, cleaning cloth and alcohol wipe.
Installation
I wasn't too fond of the wipe. It left a lot of streak and marks on the screen. It might have been user error but eventually i got the screen cleaned. My method is i grabbed two pieces of packaging tape. I put one pieces of the tape on one side of the screen and the other one the other side of the screen, overlapping the first piece of tape. I then pressed down on the pieces of tape really well to try to get every spot of the screen. I then pulled the tape off and it got about 99% of the dust off the screen. I then pulled the plastic off of the screen protector and applied it.
My Thoughts
I really like it. Its smooth. The screen is still clear and responsive. Its thin and it fits all of the cases i have. I'm not a huge user of the finger print scanner but for the review, I've been using it and it seems to work very well. Following are images of the packaging and cases I've tried this screen protector with. I've used the following cases:
- clear TPU case
- Otterbox Commuter
- Otterbox Defender
- Spigen Neo Hybrid
- Verus Thor
- Verus Iron Shield
Overall I'm very happy with this screen protector and for under $10, it may be the best screen protector for the value available for the Galaxy S5
Less fancy review.
I also received this item from ZeroLemon for review...
My tempered glass package came in on the weekend but was unable to get it in my hands until Monday. The box was rather plain but contents were neatly organized, protected, and all accounted for. This glass is thicker than some others I've used and I have no clue if that's a good or bad thing, but despite the thickness it does not interfere with any of my 4 cases (diztronic slim tpu, ultra tpu, reactor, and ringke slim armor case). I did not use the included alcohol wipe as the screen was already spotless dustwise on delivery. Installation was just like any other tempered glass screen I've ever had and I had zero issues applying it with zero bubbles or dust stuck between the screen and glass. I noticed no decrease in screen response just as I did not with any brand I've used. I did like how they printed the instructions on the inside of the carton itself rather than an added piece of paper. No issues with the finger print scanner and the front camera still takes clear shots.
Minor nit picks would be to make the packaging a little more visually pleasing, and I would prefer not to see iphone pictures used in the instructions, I rather see the device it's being sold for.
Bottom line I think this is a great value at it's current price and will remain so as long as it is below the 10 dollar mark. once it is above that there's no reason to pick this product over any other of the many others in that price range.
Sorry for the lack of photo's but the post above pretty much has all you'd ever need I think.
TLDR :
Great product at it's current price point
My (first edtion ) review of the 9H glass protector
I received the protector today.
Shipped by airmail, in a bubble-envelope, in which I found the cardboard casing.
Shockproof and protected, as it should with these protectors.
( I've ordered from Ebay a white-label once, and I got a origami protector, 100+ pieces of unbreakable puzzle-fun )
First impression is a perfect one, and upon opeing, I found everything I needed.
Cleaning - I cleaned my phone, and outlayed the glss protector on my display.
In contrary to "plastic's" it did not directely adhese, so I could move it to it's correct position. ( needle / knife point )
Pressing down from the inside out, it stuck perfectly with no dust or bubble's
( again .... mindblowingly perfect after 100's of plastic protectors )
The look & Feel ...
It feels amazing, smooth, likt the 'real' thing, i did not notice any lag or ghost-touches, just like if you're touching the regular screen.
The only thing ( My OCD :+ ) througt the glass you still see something of a riser between the samsung & protector.
It appears there is a ( samsung applied ) protector allready installed.
Anyone else ever noticed this ?

Great screen protection for under $10
I've been using the ZeroLemon 9H glass for almost a week now and overall I am very happy with it. I've used all the major brands before and the ZeroLemon is just as good as any of them. The glass is crystal clear with the fit being perfect and achieving a bubble free installation was a breeze with the included materials. The surface is very slick with fantastic touch response. It cleans easily and over the past 6 days has remained scratch free. One thing I must note is that the protector goes nearly edge to edge and does not leave room for a case that has heavy lip overhang onto the screen. With my Commuter wallet the rubber lip goes up and over the protector which isn't a big deal but it causes the silicone bunch up by the home button. With a price point under 10 dollars this screen protector is a major win and is easy to recommend to anyone looking for affordable screen protection.
Hi, now i got that protector.. I had different protector before.. Package is good and it included same stuff like other protectors.. That home button is lower when glass is on.. There could be some home button with sticker that i can add it to get it back to normal. Glass fits very good. Only thing that i dont know how much its resist.. y
It would be good if there is some video that you show how much your protector resist all kind of scratching? This is very good. I think that your products dont need any this kind testing if products are like this. But i didnt found this on ebay? All users dont use amazon so that would be good? But overall: big thanks that you choose me to one of those testers.. This glass prorector is perfect. Only the glass stamina/resistance is unknown that how much its takes all kind of using

I have received my Protector and have been using it for about 1 week now.
I have decided not to upload photos since the good users above me have already uploaded all that there is to be seen.
Prior to my zerolemon glass protector i was using one of those cheap china glass protector's and i would say that Zerolemon's is of a much higher quality. Previously when my screen was off there would be a "rainbow" effect on the glass and i do not have this issue anymore. The cut is much better and it protects to the maximum potential. The glass is smooth and fingerprint resistant and it cleans easily with a microfiber cloth.
The packaging was very good as well and application was a breeze with plenty of room for adjustments if you made mistakes in alignment.
I would highly recommend this product!

I'm sure it will. But I'm not 100%. Im getting a review unit of the 8500mAh battery so i will let you know when i get it. But I'm 95% sure it will.
If anyone is interested, this tempered glass screen protector does indeed work 100% with the 8500mAh ZeroLemon battery with rugged case
Man this phone feels indestructible with the rugged extended battery case and tempered glass screen protector
What about the Slim Razor case?

This protector not negatively effects the finger print scanner? Is it available on eBay (manufacturer listing )?
I'm still waiting to see if this screen protector will get damaged by this case or not.

This looks like it comes out of the same factory as the NuGlas. The glass and package look the identical. The same alcohol package and location.

Any more feedback on this glass protector? I was thinking of getting something better than those you get on ebay for 5€/6-7$ and from a bit of well known brand. I have one of those cheap ones on my current phone and it doesn't seem bad, but i haven't dropped it yet so i don't know.
I looked into the ones from spigen but they are crazy expensive. I did read on amazon a review that said that the 9h hardness wasn't good and it would scratch easily. The ones that have this, do you find that to be true?
Also, i see they mention lifetime warranty (At least on amazon where im looking). How would that work? I would send them my broken one(at my cost) and they would send one back for free or almost free? I read that there was a brand that did that.
Hi all,
I am interested in the Moshi Ivisor Ag screen protector for my phone. It has relatively positive reviews, but I am concerned about it fitting with my case (Verus thor). I love my case and don't want to give it up. Does anyone have/tried this specific combination and can give specific feedback on their experience? Thank you very much.
I have a Moshi iVisor (not the AG version) coming this weekend. I will hopefully be using it with a UAG case. I have read of others who have had success with this combination. I'll let you know how I get on after the weekend

The verus thor is perfect with the moshi ivosor. I Have it. Take the phone out of the case and clean the screen. Put the phone back in the case and clean the screen once more. Then put the ivosor on. The case will line the glass protector up perfectly, so you dont have to make any adjustments on the ivosor. Im loving the ivosor and thor. Had them over 2 months each. Highly recommend the combo.
I applied my Moshi iVisor on Friday - application was very easy using the supplied suction cup, and I managed to get it on perfectly straight and square on the first attempt! Probably the easiest screen protector installation I've ever done. Having read that others had noticed the protector lifting after putting their case on, I decided to leave my phone out of the case for a day and a half, and made sure I applied pressure to all the edges so that it was firmly adhered. I don't know if this will make any difference, but I was just trying to let the adhesive 'settle' for a day or so before trying the case on.
I put the UAG case on yesterday morning (what a tight fit!), and haven't noticed any problems with the iVisor. I know others have mentioned that it lifts after a while if the case puts pressure on the edges, but my immediate impression is that it's fine. I've inspected all four edges closely and can see no signs of lifting or bowing in the middle.
The iVisor looks SO much better than any of the plastic protectors, or any of the other tempered glass protectors I've seen. The only thing I noticed was the 'dot matrix' patten in the glass, but this is only visible in bright direct sunlight, and I haven't noticed it at all in normal use. Other similar edge to edge protectors include the Momax and the Tech Armour - I have a Momax on the way from the US, but as yet can't speak of how good either of these are. (I think the Momax has adhesive under the glass, whereas the iVisor and the Tech Armour don't).
Let me know if you have any other questions
after a while, dust WILL get under the ivosor. But just pull it using the suction cup that was given in the box. Wash the ivosor edges gently with dish soap and water. I used a clean dish sponge so it doesn't come apart or dust like a paper towel would. Put it in a safe place then let it dry. If it doesn't dry it won't stick. After it's dry just reapply it.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Not sure if I was mistaken, but I could sworn that when I made this post, the ivisor ag was the one made of glass. Now on the website, it's called the ivisor glass? Anyway, skill, do you have the one that is made of glass? The verus thor case looks like it overlaps the glass slightly, I wouldn't want to buy a screen protector that lifts up from the pressure like the other poster said could possibly happen.

Yes i have the ivosor glass. Mine does not overlap at all. it's perfect. If the glass isn't fitted right, it may overlap on certain side. Just pull the case back with your thumb and tuck it in. Try lining it up with the case on, like i mentioned above.
After having seen all of the issues with the glass screen protectors for this phone, I decided that I needed to try something else in the meantime. While I have a Sakai glass one that I ordered from ebay that is due roughly a month from now, I'm not very hopeful for it working. As a result of all of this and the need for a screen protector ASAP, I went with the Spigen screen protectors that I have seen mentioned on here. Having used PET films in the past, I was expecting a huge hassle. Bubbles, cheap feeling etc. Turns out, these worked REALLY damn well, to my complete surprise.
Installation:
Installation was quite easy, much easier than the older thin film screen protectors that I remember. You simply clean the surface of the phone, following the instructions. Place the tabs on the screen protector to help you position it. Then carefully position it properly keeping an eye on the edges and the sensors. It adheres to the screen very much like a glass screen protector does. There are a few small bubbles here and there, but they squeegee right out. I ended up with two permanent bubbles (one by the light sensor and one near the edge). Neither were the fault of the screen protector, both were caused by me rushing and nicking the surface of the screen protector when squeegee-ing the bubbles out. I think I could easily get it on there next time with zero bubbles. Way less hassle than any other attempt I have had with a film screen protector. One complaint I have is that they only included one alcohol wipe (everything else is in multiples), I don't know if I just got unlucky or they aren't thinking. Anyways, I have access to many solvents at work. No big deal for me.
Result:
How does it feel? A bit more plasticy than the usual glass screen protector but otherwise surprisingly nice. It adheres to the curves perfectly with no major bubbles, clarity-wise it is crystal clear. I honestly can't tell it is there. It adheres nicely to the curves of the display without any gaps (other than my nicks at the edge). My Otterbox Commuter case fits right over the top of it with ZERO problems. I was expecting these to be a stop-gap measure until the better glass ones come out but honestly I don't see anything wrong with these as is and would be just fine using these alone. I am not sure about longevity as I just installed it but so far I am actually surprisingly happy with it, especially for the cost. If you are on the fence between glass and plastic. Go with these plastic screen protectors for now and let the manufacturers work out the difficulties of the glass ones. Then you can decide later if you really want the glass one for you phone.

it will get scratched to **** within 2 weeks don't worry. Then you'll have to use another of the 3 that came with it.
Agreed with everything that OP posted, and agreed with the person above. Mine got scratched within a day but I got over it.
I installed one only because I tried three different Temper glass ones and none sealed correctly. I like it so far installed very good, covers the entire screen. So far so good.
I got a soft screen protector from AliExpress. It's a bit tricky to apply at first but once you get the idea it's not so bad.
The screen protector is really good! It's like silicon , doesn't get scratched easily.
Best part? it's 1.4$ each! What else can you ask for..?

Yup good screen protector but it does scuff, so is it perfect no, but one of the better non temper glass protector
I just tried and failed to apply all three. I can't be doing with bubbles or marks on the screen, and who in their right mind decided to put adhesive on a screen protector.
First one too many bubbles, second one, dust, bubbles and scratches, third one, same.
Add to the fact it feels like a ZAGG invisible shield, rubbery rather than glassy.. I will keep it naked from now on.
I have an Xtreme skin skin to install, wish me luck, i'll bloody well need it haha.

I got the dark oak Xtremeskin!
I've put on a tempered glass before, it was kinda bad, lost saturation and brightness, and i got a clear case from spigen, but the case's lips protudes to the center so much that it started to push the screen protectir out!, I eventually removed the tempered glass... Not usre which screen protector to apply on with the spigen case :/
The Spigen Crystal Clear is too thin in my opinion - I killed it within a week. My old Spigen Steinheil Ultra on the S4 was way better. Purchased a CrocFol Premium instead.
Yup I have to change my opinion as well, used it for a bit, scuffed easily, stays clear without the rainbow effect. I had a few defects in my screen protectors, changed them out. Using the otterbox Defender case for now.
1$ tempered glass (rectangular) from AliExpress are perfect of you dont care leaving the top curved part unprotected. No bubbles, no rainbows, no effect on colors\contrast\clarity.
I know the thread title reads like click bait, but I received the aforementioned screen protector today. When I bought it I could only find one review of it anywhere (I believe it was a Sony Xperia thread on XDA) so I thought I'd post my thoughts.
Nillkin screen protectors are pretty well documented elsewhere, but you receive
A wet wipe
A dry wipe
A statically charged plastic strip
A microfiber cloth.
You wipe the screen with the first two, and remove any dust particles with the strip. Microfiber cloth is for pressing down the protector and cleaning the protector.
If you get one make sure to put it on with your case on though. My first one (regular PE) was put on when it wasn't, and the case kept lifting the corner off and it eventually cracked as a result.
Fit and finish is fantastic as all the Nillkin protectors are. This particular one has chamfered edges though, also known as 2.5D. Gives it a really slick look, kinda like the Galaxy Edge.
Anyway, about the blueness - when the screen is off it looks like the backlight has been replaced by a UV light. It's extremely obvious in direct light on a dark screen too. But if either of those are false, it's not really noticeable. I'm sure that it is taking some of the cool edge off of the backlight though.
I'm keeping it on for now, we'll see if the blue annoys me (as my phone is dark themed).
Any questions let us know.
I also purchased one of these a while back, it certainly took some getting used to with the change in the glass colouring. My biggest issue and one which I got a refund for was the fact that after about a month the protector started to lift from the phone, starting around the button and then along the sides. I spoke with Nillkin regarding this and they refunded my purchase which was great, I did then purchase another and also the Sparkle case too which is great as well.

For those of you who are still interested in this protector: only buy if you intend on using it with a case that covers the top and bottom of the phone completely, or if you never have any items in the same pocket as your phone.
Mine has cracked in the same place as the non-blue protector (upper left corner), and I have narrowed the cause down to my phone knocking against other items in my pocket.
