Hey everyone, I've been looking for a couple days on how to root the Samsung Galaxy Sol. I haven't came across any threads that say it's possible. This device does have an "OEM Unlock" function in the Developer Options. I was wondering if I could use Kingroot because upon opening it, I see a message saying "Root strategy available, just try it". Now, I've used Kingroot before and had a good outcome and I've also had a bad outcome such as a unfixable brick. So I'm asking is there anyone who knows 100% if this will work or is willing to test it with device model "Samsung SM-J321AZ" . Thanks.

Is anybody familiar with this model?
I want to install ICS on it, but unfortunately am at a loss here.
Some kind of 3.2 beta was installed to it and the "About device" settings menu stated that it was a GT-P6800.
Unfortunately Odin failed write a GT-P6800 firmware on it (PDA only).
It was only then that i noticed that it says product name GT-P7560 in the Download Mode. But I cannot find any firmware of that model.
Which firmware shall I use?

Actually, you are in the proper section.
The following website has the info on your tablet. It is a GT 7+ variation.

Why not do a factory reset and go from there. If that does not get you to where you want to go, give Samsung support a call.
Keep us posted on what ou find out.
Cbill
iUnfortunately I can do neither soft nor hard reset.
Due to the failed attempt to install the wrong firmware the tablet does no longer boot.
And nothing happens when I try to access the recovery menu by pressing volume up and the power button.
But even if I was able to reset the device, this would not bring me closer to my ultimate goal of installing ICS on it.
Is there no firmware of another model similar enough to be flashed safely on this model?
Samsung Support would be my last shot.

You'd probably have to as garyd9 or another dev to give ClockWork Recovery support to your model number, install that, make a backup, then you can ask to have your model number added to the what they support in this thread

WiFi isn't working in the build, and other minor glitches.
Good luck?
While I personally think that CyanogenMod is great, it is no option in this case.
I need a stock rom.
Samsung gave us this device in order to test our apps on it.
Seems that it is some pre-release device or a device that never will be released.
I guess I will have to get in touch with Samsung support.
Update: The first Samsung Service Center rejected the device, stating that they do not handle unofficial devices.
At the second however (halfway across the city) they told me that they would have a look at it. The technician there said that the IMEI number printed on this device did not even exist.
By the way: I would like to thank all of you for your pieces of advice.

Hi,
I am having the same issue, were you able to somehow get your device to boot again?
Thanks
Heres the issue. I am no noob at this whatsoever and have tried EVERYTHING. I have used every program I could find to attempt root and none can seem to gain root access. The install SuperUser or SuperSU and every time root fails even if said app is installed. Please help Im doing a talk on August 20th that I NEED this device for. All help appreciated. Thanks!
Im slightly confused as your sig says rooted stock
But anyway I recently got myself a Razr HD and I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241788 to root and unlock bootloader
My device was 4.1.2 and I did not want to downgrade but this one worked :victory:

sounds like a bad flash, are you able to get into download mode? i would recommend if your able to get into download mode, you should download your firmware from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ make sure its your GT-I9100P model only, download odin and flash that zip you get from sammobile. make sure re-partition is unchecked, normally it is but be careful. if you get stuck please be sure to reply back.

Sammobile does have the firmware,i saw it myself, its a little tricky you have to go down about half way of the page to the checker and look through the long list of models, not entering your model number. from there choose your country, im guessing orange is Canada or the UK? France as-well has it.

cool hope all goes well! remember, its a simple and easy task, make sure you have samsung usb drivers installed, download odin (from that download page there should be a download for odin) plug in your device, when one of the little boxs towards the top right is green, hit pda and click start, make sure re-partition is not checked and wait about around 5-10min and your device should be back to samsungs stock 4.1.2 build for the device.

thanks mate,i've been able to unlock the phone. cheers:good:
So it seems I've really put myself into a bad spot, here.
I recently rooted my phone (Verizon S3) using towelroot, which seemed to work exceedingly well, so I decided to try to make a NANDroid backup using ClockworkMod. I installed ROM Manager, set that up, and chose the "restart in Clockwork recovery mode option", which didn't work. I soon realized I forgot to unlock my bootloader so, at the recommendation of a few sites, used EZ-Unlock to try to do that. The app reported that it was successful, so I tried restarting my phone in Clockwork recovery mode again. To my utter horror, my phone did not turn on, and has not turned on since.
When I say that it doesn't turn on, I mean that it gives me no audio, vibrational, or visual feedback, almost like there's no battery in the phone. I've pulled the battery and also attempted to do the fix outlined in a video, but to no avail. (I would post the link if the forum allowed me to. The title of the video is "Unbrick hard bricked Verizon Galaxy S3 running 4.3 Jelly Bean")
Feel free to scold me all you like for my irresponsibility and stupidity, it's probably deserved. Any help will be hugely appreciated, though! Thank you so much!
Edit: I guess I should mention that this is my first time doing this sort of thing to an Android device. However, I do like to think I "know my way around", as they say. (although I guess not enough to avoid messing things up!)

Do what the guy above suggested. Oh just so you know when you are on 4.3 you can not unlock your bootloader. Only root. Also once on 4.3 you can not downgrade to any earlier firmware versions. You can thank Verizon for that.

No. Your only focus is on getting the phone to boot back up. The only method that we have to do so is the bootloader/hardbrick thread by SpryroDazee posted at the top of our Q/A section.

So as title says any luck with rooting the lollipop update yet? I updated without thinking and now I am stuck without root
from my understanding, you can still root with the Chainfire, battery pull method as long as you do the OTA or stock Loly update first.

Root and Lollipop are working fine on many devices. Also your question is pretty much meaningless without a model number. Each carrier's phone is different.

This is the general Note Edge Q&A. Issues for every carrier go here. Sprint should root fine with CF-Auto-Root and TWRP, just as in KitKat.

AT&T models have a locked bootloader. That's an entirely different issue.
