Bypass Trigger requesting to use Bluetooth. - General Questions and Answers

I couldn't find a better sub forum to post this in so I'm doing it here.
I'm using the trigger app to make tapping on a nfc tag connect to my cars Bluetooth, but every time I use the tag it asks for permission to connect. Is there some way I can bypass this because it defeats the purpose of automation. I'm on a Note 3 with Lollipop. Rooted of course. The way I set up the tag is to:
On activation of tag; if not connected to "FPV Bluetooth" then connect. I don't need to add a command to turn Bluetooth on as the connect command does this anyway if Bluetooth is off.
The problem is trigger always needs permission. Fix for this? Screenshots attached
Thanks!
EDIT: Never mind I don't know how to use my own phone. Just had to disable asking to use Bluetooth in phone settings. I don't know how to delete this thread.

[Q] Unable to use Bluetooth in "restricted Profile" with 4.3 (CM 10.2)

I'm really liking 4.3 and want a restricted profile to use in my car when I have my tablet mounted to my dash so that I don't need to type a password in to use music/nav/diag software. Problem I'm having is that some of the software that I use with a Bluetooth GPS will not work right because I can't get the Bluetooth working in the restricted profile. When I turn on the BT it looks like it is going to turn on, but turns back off. From the owner account I've looked at the paired devices to see if any of them had a new setting to allow restricted user access, but no luck. I've turned on the BT radio from the owner account, but when I switch to the restricted profile it turns off.
Anyone know of a file that can be tweaked to allow this to work, or if I've overlooked allowing access to some app I didn't connect with BT for the restricted user.
Can anyone test and confirm they also have this problem or not? I only have one device running 4.3 right now so I can not test much on my own. I've not seen much info on all the restrictions and settings to adjust restricted profiles.
I have the same problem with my Nexus 7 (2012) running stock 4.4.

[REQ] Tasker Bluetooth profile?

Hey guys, trying to wrap my head around Tasker. Bought it a while back but got scared off by it
I currently use Greenpower Premium to manage my bluetooth connection, but it's such a bulky way to do it considering I don't use any of the "battery saving" features.
What I would like is
a) Bluetooth to turn on when connected to a power source
b) Bluetooth to disconnect after 5 minutes if NOT connected to a device.
The only caveat of point B is point A takes priority, so even if not connected to a device, but connected to a power source, bluetooth stays on. It's for use in my car.
Any help for a Tasker noob? Cheers :highfive:

your A is very easy to do (as evidenced by a novice like me messing around with it until it worked), you'll just have to go into each setting for the basic profile.
B, no clue... i've never tried it, but i can't think of a reason it'd be that difficult.
If this is all you want Tasker to do try out an app called Bluetooth Auto Connect. Your Profile A should really be easy to program(porofle/state/power/any:taskaction/net/bluetooth on) while your Profile B there is actually a profile you can download from the Tasker site then import into Tasker. It's set at 15 minutes but you can change it.
Here is the way I interpreted
A) make profile under state>power>power(any or ac). The make a task setting Bluetooth on under "net." Go back to profiles and press and hold the new task you made and select add exit task. You can put set Bluetooth off when it disconnected from power source.
B) state>net>Bluetooth connected. Task set Bluetooth on or whatever, then add an exit task under task>wait>5 min then set Bluetooth off. Unlink the start task with the green arrow cause unless you want a notification saying whatever when connected, I don't see any use for an enter task.

[TASKER] Share your best Tasker profiles!

So we need a Tasker thread for Verizon Galaxy Note 4, with out Root.
Always fun to see others ideas on Tasker Profiles, here are mine.
Please share your Tasker Profiles.
WIFI Starter
WIFI Stopper
These both work with 5 tasks, and use cell tower to check for WIFI then start or stop. Found this on WIKI.
Auto Off Unpaired Bluetooth
This will turn off Bluetooth if I just kill the headset. Found this on WIKI.
Headset Plugged Any
I use headset plug in my car, sure Bluetooth is nice, maybe i'm old but I still get better flow just plugging in.
On any headset plugged it checks to see if am by or connected to any of my WIFI points first.
Then if not it sets; open music player (player set to resume play), mute sounds so they don't bug me while i'm listening to my music, Display to 30 second time out, and Media volume to level 14
The media volume is great because Samsung or Google Kit Kat has a pop-up that tells you you are setting sound high, and it can hurt your ears. With this setting that pop-up never goes off.
On headset remove the exit task reverts all. I made this myself.
Received Text While Driving
Checks i'm not near or connected to any of my WIFI points, checks for headset plugged in, any text received, and moving over 5 MPH. If all met send reply text "(AUTO) I'm currently driving. Will respond to you when I can safely."
Found on WIKI and made some adjustments myself.
WIFI Connected Home Unlock (needs Local Password Lock Plug-in)
On connect to my home WIFI checks MAC #, then using plug-in sets lock to 3 hours. On exit it sets lock back to 30 seconds. I made this myself.
WIFI all Beep On Connect
Set to make a low quick beep when connected to one of my WIFI's. Set to make high quick beep on disconnect. I made this myself.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
I like this thread idea! I haven't put tasker on my new phone yet, but on my last one I had the following profiles:
Auto silence/vibrate all ring tones when I connect to my work wifi
Auto max all volumes when I connect to my home wifi
Auto dim screen to lowest brightness setting at 2am (so I don't blind myself when I look at my phone in the middle of the night or morning)
I had just gotten started, but I really liked the home automation possibilities. I want to create one that checks when I join my home wireless network to see if it's between 4p-6p on Monday - Friday, and if so, open my garage door and unlock my back door
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
I just use one profile, a must have for me. When I get in my car and the Bluetooth is connected, I have Tasker turn WiFi off and start spotify. It turns WiFi back on and kills spotify when the car is turned off.

The only one I have running right now uses Tasker, IFTTT, and PebbleTasker to control my WeMo light switches from my Pebble Watch. There is a IFTTT channel to use a text message to turn on and off your Wemos so i have a taker task to text the special command to the IFTTT phone number. Then all i had to do was link that task to Pebble tasker and now I can hit a button on my watch and turn on my lights.
On my S4 and S5 I had another profile that would turn off lock screen security when my Pebble was attached to bluetooth. Unfortunately, without root I am unable to replicate that on my N4. I also had one using my bank's text banking to receive my balances via text from the Tasker on my Pebble.

That is awesome news. I will have to try that. The novelty of the fingerprint reader is starting to wear off so I would love to go back to watch unlock.
Edit: Got it to work with a PIN. Just couldn't make the fingerprint or pattern lock due to lack of root.
I tried using LED Controller, but it's causing me all kind of bad settings, will have to uninstall it
The tasker profile I like and use is to enable GPS and turn GPS off when launching Google Maps... I also have one that enables NFC and turns NFC off upon launching and closing Google Wallet

How did you get the Wifi Starter Stopper to work because it sure as hell is not working for me....The task is green, its just not turning the Wifi On...If I turn the Wifi on itself manually, then it switches to the Wifi Stopper task, seems to me it doesnt work. First grab this on the wiki, it includes 5 tasks and 2 profiles. In the wifi starter profile have it search for cell tower, as I add new locations I cut all i have in there, do a new search, then add the others back.
then in the task wifi checks params under varable set add your wifi name, yes leave the astrix and add a forward slash between multiple wifi locations. *bobwifi*/*tomwifi*/*frankwifi*
then here is the trick, once back on wifi checks params and then click play once to get things going, then back out of tasker and move in and out of your location.
NFC on on wallet app is awesome idea, thanks man!
I ended up doing this, NFC on/open Wallet. No exit task as I like to go back to see my purchase. Having it auto-open is great though, as I used to turn on NFC then find wallet and open.

Thanks for the information I am using one that is working pretty well that was also on wiki.
The problem I was having is how long it took, but it would not connect unless I went into the task and hit play button to run the task... Under profile it would be green but it would not connect... It only connected from manual input
Edit - I never left my location though I just turned off wifi to see if it would turn my wifi back on... It's a complex task I am not sure how to adjust the time for it to happen faster

Sorry further review is showing that you need root.
However, there is no need to, you should simply turn GPS on and leave it. Android works fine with this and when not in use it does not run, it is not always checking GPS unless you have some app asking for GPS location running.

I have this setup so that it works with bluetooth in my car, my Bluebuds headphone, or my home theater receiver. So basically if I'm at home, in the car, or listening to music/podcasts at work I don't have to deal with the PIN but when I'm out and about my phone is secure.
Could anyone help me with making two profiles please? I use SwiftKey, and when it's active. Toggle pie off. And when keyboards not active it turns back on.
And if I send my self a message it turns mute mode off. (with a certain phrase) I got it to work with default message but don't know how to make it work with chompsms :/ I've asked around but no response really. Thanks for your time.

Question Solution to toggle Mobile Networks and NFC on and off? ADB? Settings Keys?

As a lead-in - I am aware of AutoWear. Unfortunately it does not have this functionality, it only lets you turn on and off Wifi and Bluetooth.
I am looking for a way to automate the turning on and off of Mobile Networks and NFC on the watch when some conditions are met.
I would be happy to do this on the watch, but would be satisfied if I could do it on my phone via sending command to the watch (for example an ADB based solution)
Anyway have any clue how I could go about this? If I wrote my own app for the watch is it even possible?

Question USB/Bluetooth tethering?

No, not wifi. Apparently I can't do auto wifi tethering in Android 11 (my phone) without root on the phone.
I don't want to have to manually enable hotspot every time I get in the car.
Has anyone figured out a way to get the USB or Bluetooth tethering to work on these units?
My phone says USB tethering enabled. I get the notification in the window shade, but nothing on the unit.
What kind of phone? On my Samsung, I use the Bixby stuff which is like Tasker and Macrodroid. It's built-in so I tried it and works well enough. I have a routine that turns on my Wifi hotspot automatically when the phone connects to my car head unit through Bluetooth. The hotspot automatically shuts of when there have been no device connected for a certain amount of time. I think that's an Android setting.
In another thread, it was suggested that this app was working fine and stable:
Bluetooth Tethering Manager - Apps on Google Play
Sharing the internet connection's never been so easy.
play.google.com
That was for a different head unit. Give it a try and let us know how it works.

Maybe I'm overthinking it then. The hotspot option seems to work on my phone fairly well. I set it to never timeout . Only connect to my cars MAC address.
However when I connect to wifi it turns the hotspot off. So I have to manually re-enable it.
I tried using macrodroid once before to turn hotspot on when Bluetooth connects, but it doesn't seem compatible with Android 11's security setup.. Without root and tasker.
The Bluetooth tether sort of worked initially. Once I got to driving, it kept cutting off and then eventually stopped giving the HU access at all, even though both servers were running on the phone and unit.
The other Bluetooth tether I've tried didn't work at all
@watson540 When I'm modifying the Bixby routine for turning on my phone's hotspot, it doesn't let me do anything with the wifi connection. It thinks they're related somehow and that wifi should be off when the hotspot is on. In any case, I have wifi off on my phone when my head unit is connected to my phone's hotspot. All works fine.

That is default Android (look on Android developer). On a hotspot you create a WiFi hotspot and share via mobile data. That is why you can't use WiFi at the same time.
There are very few phones that really can share the WiFi itself. As such this is logical. If there is WiFi, why can't the other phone connect to that WiFi?
It is designed for places where there is no WiFi, but where at least one phone has mobile data which it can share.
That it works differently on Linux, MacOS, ChromeOS and Windows is something else. These devices mostly don't have mobile data at all as they are not phones.
Yes. A phone only has one wifi chip. It can use it to be a client or a server, but not both at once.
That's why enabling hotspot turns wifi off. Enabling wifi turns hotspot off.
The challenge is.. In Android 11 (without Bixby)... How to enable hotspot through some app. Macrodroid can't do it. The app where you create "flows" isn't capable either. I THINK tasker would do it, but only with root from what I previously read. I can't get root because my bootloader is locked.
That's why I was shooting for Bluetooth or USB tether.
It's frustrating because Bluetooth tether in a baked in option in Android 11,as is USB tether.. But the head unit doesn't recognize it or use it.

Since 4-5 months I have Samsung A52 on Android 11. Macrodroid just works fine with enabling the hotspot when my phone connects to the head unit on bluetooth. No root necessary. Thanks to the mentioning about Bixby a few days ago, I am now doing it with Bixby Routines, using an old unit on the bench as I am still waiting for my new unit for my "new" car.
With regard to bluetooth tethering to this unit. Already in 2015 lbdroid (who goes under at least 5 synonyms) wrote his blutoothTethering apks. It works with installing the app on your phone AND on the unit. See his github and his blogpost. I have used it on my first and second unit, and purely out of laziness I simply used WiFi tethering on my 3rd and 4th unit.
(And yes, blutooth is spelled correct when I refer to his apk).
Okay, so I got USB tethering to work and it's beautiful- but bittersweet...
It ONLY works if you reboot the head unit with the USB cable already plugged in. Once you take the cable out, it won't come back if you plug back in. Only with a reboot does it work
@surfer63 - you're the guru around here. How can a trigger be made to enable this on a plug-in of USB?, Or maybe a constant poll every thirty seconds?

I agree. I believed that it was supposed to work this way where WiFi can't be used while the hotspot is active. However, on my Samsung A51, I can have WiFi and/or mobile data active at the same time as my hotspot. I turn off mobile data and while my phone is connected to my home router through WiFi, I can create a WiFi hotspot. When I've done this, I can still access the internet and my home network from my phone. I have to connect to my 2.4MHz band in order for it to work as a hotspot on my head unit. If I'm connected to the 5MHz band, my phone shows a warning that some clients, that don't support 5MHz, may not be able to connect to the hotspot.
Having the WiFi active while the hotspot is active only causes an issue for me when I'm connected to my home access point. I have a VPN server running on my home router/network. When I VPN from my phone to my home with the WiFi on, I can't access the internet or my home network. I think the routing gets all messed up. In any case, it's not an issue for me...any longer.
I was trying to set up my head unit to access the internet and my home network through the VPN on my phone. I found out that when you use a hot spot (in Android), you cannot access the VPN and the data does not go through the VPN on the hotspot. I don't know why...it may be an Android or a network thing. So, I set up a VPN client on the head unit instead and it connects to my home network fine through the phone hot spot. Now, I just have to figure out how to automatically set up the VPN client on the head unit to automatically connect when it is started and possibly exclude some apps so that the data for those don't go through the VPN.

I never looked into lbroid's code for this blutooth apk, but I suppose it should be possible to add some code to check on the "USB device connected" event, and use that to initialize again. (It would of course also require the request for authorization for that USB event).
Or as a workaround: try it from the other side. Install MacroDroid on your unit. Check if a USB device gets connected and at the same time you have BT connection with your phone, and then start the apk on your unit.
Edit: This might require to first stop the app (if running), pause for a few seconds, and then start the app.

Sorry. You put me totally on the wrong track.
I simply overlooked you were taliking about USB-tethering. The previous posts were about Bluetooth tetering.
So my answer might still be interesting for those who want Bluetooth tetering: See also my github where I rebuilt lbdroid's version (nov 2019) with an apk in the releases section.
Nothing creative. Just a copy with an extended readme.

I'll take either/or
It appears that my phone doesn't start USB tethering until I unlock it anyway. So it may HAVE to be Bluetooth... which is fine
I did try macrodroid on the HU to try and trigger the USB tether action.
I looked into the logcat and saw some tethering events going on when I plugged the cable in. They get shut down for whatever reason.
I was able to bring the usb0 interface up with a simple ifconfig command in terminal, but no way to assign it an ip and routing (dhcpcd or dhclient) -- Android is just so far removed from Linux anymore, it's all handled in JAVA now, so I can't just write a shell script
I'll look into the Bluetooth method again

It looks promising. Doesn't work on this unit though.
I assume it's because fyt 7862 actually has 2 Bluetooth chips, and the first one is disabled. I guess it's spotty? I reckon the app is trying to attach to the primary Bluetooth, which is disabled through the rom?

I don't know. At this moment I do not have a uis7862 and can't examine it.

Looks like this app was built for a previous version of Android
BluetoothAdapter mBluetoothAdapter = BluetoothAdapter.getDefaultAdapter();
getDefaultAdapter has been deprecated since jellybean. I'd plug in the appropriate call, but I'm assuming that would just be the beginning of a whole host of other things to rewrite as well.
I'm not that dedicated

It was built for Android 5/6.
Since Android 7 and 8, many things have changed. In the access rights area, in the "run as a service" area, etcetera. It might require a complete rewrite.

Why do you think that?
In all the specs I can find it has only one BT chip being the Realtek 8761BTV (but again: only from theory).

I've seen it in my convoluted perusing. If you look on 4pda, people there talk about activating one or the other in build.prop or some other system related file.
I've seen what I believe is it in the Android settings (the real settings). It's named "carbt". I managed to connect my phone to it once. I never checked any hardwire IDs to verify it was indeed different, but I swear I've seen it mentioned over there. It's up to 384 pages now, so it's hard to keep up
