I was going to try and root and load a custom rom on my new S6 G920F but when I hot vol down+home+power it boots and comes up to the warning screen but none of the buttons work to continue to download or cancel. Any thoughts?
You press down don't you?

Found that down button is sticking on the volume bar. Took the phone apart and volume button bar out and I'm able to boot. This does however make flashing impossible until my new volume bar comes. Does anyone know how to flash TWRP without ODIN?
Was taking phone part easy? I've got a faulty charge port

My power button is kinda dead I can shut off the phone and turn it on but going through recovery is impossible. How can I still flash roms

Do you mean that in recovery it will not select items?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G running CM7/franco.Kernel
I use Fix Broken Pro widget to lock the screen and No Lock app to unlock using volume down button.
I go to recovery using adb or Rom Manager. Then use back, menu, search, home buttons to go back, Scroll Down, Select and Scroll Up respectively.
Yea I can't select options in recovery or it'll continuously select reboot bootloader and I can never get into recovery mode

I guess I need to learn to flash through adb

If you are using cwm recovery, you don't need power button. Touch buttons are enough.
In CWM, do you see a message that says back button has been disabled? Somehow last night this was happening to me but in my case I simply pulled the battery and rebooted and all was fine. If it's acting up in the bootloader though I would suspect you have a hardware issue.

When I hold volume up and the power button to boot into the bootloader I can't select reboot recovery it just keeps selecting reboot bootloader since my power button is messed up

i cant find the same topic here on xda so i opend a new thread.
im using a nexus s i9023 with slim ics 3.5 and the air kernel 4.0. my power button doesnt work anymore. in the bootloader menu i also cant use the volume buttons. and when i insert the battery it starts without pushing any button. so i dont think its a hardware problem?! should i try to flash a stock rom with bootlader via odin? and where can i get one for europe? thanks

Seems a hardware issue to me. Your power button just died.

I have the same problem too, I cannot boot into recovery via the bootloader anymore, I have to use CM9's reboot into recovery option. My phone also automatically starts after inserting the battery.
To unlock the phone when the screen is off, I've remapped the keys using the key layout file. I've remapped the volume down button as the power button.
I'm also interested to know how to control the bootloader when our power button isn't functioning properly.

i flashed the latest nightly of AOKP today and then restored all my apps and data with titanium backup. When the restore was complete it prompted me to reboot my device so i did. ever since then i have been unable to reboot my phone as it is stuck on the start up screen. i then tried to restore from a backup of my other rom and then found out that i couldn't boot into the boot loader as when i held down the power and + volume button the startup would begin and then the phone would turn off. any ideas on how to fix this.
What it's happening is your stuck in a boot loop.
When you are holding power and volume down the phone is only interested in the power button part. Which is why it's powering off.
Just keep the buttons held both power and volume down. When it powers off keep them held and you should come into the bootloader

I have tried that but it just goes tocthe Google screen then turns off again

Not sure if the quote is a typo or not, but it should be power and - volume. You can also try power and both volume buttons, which will take you to the secondary boot loader.

I assumed the op was able to completely power down by just continuing to hold the power button and possibly had the wrong button combo.
What do you mean by start up screen?
You see the screen tells you "Google" and it stays there?

Hold your power button down for 30 to 60 seconds. You should be powered down. Then try to get into the boot loader. Vol down + power. Dues it get into bootloader?

Hi guys.
Sorry for bumping but I have the same issue and for me it wasn't fixed by going in recovery mode. I already tried deleting cash, and even tried getting back to factory settings. But still, when i restart the phone, the same loop keeps occuring.
At first it always just went to 'google' and then rebooted and rebooted. Now it just keeps stuck with the google logo (the 4 colour image).
Could someone help me possibly?
Thanks in advance
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Try LG flashtool. Link in my signature. If you have the 32GB version of the american nexus 5 (D820) you can use the converted firmware without any problem. It was tested numerous time.
You can also try to reflash stock google rom in fastboot mode http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
If you are using LG flashtool and you get error about cant format userdata and/or cache or by checking the flashing log you see timeout errors then your phone have a fauilty emmc. If you are using the fastboot method and you see "remote: flash write failure" text in the CMD window then you have fauilty emmc. Your only option is to rma your phone if bought from google or claim your warranty from LG if your phone is not from Google and you have the receipt of your phone.
Hi all,
I tried to root Galaxy Core i8260 with framaroot (choosing Gandalf) but it is impossible to do so. So I realised too late. I still tried to flash CWM via Odin on non-rooted (I THOUGHT it was rooted by framaroot) device and it messed up my download mode. Now when I press download volume+home+power it takes me to download mode but only for a few seconds. It does not even give me the chance to press up volume and enter proper download mode. All it does is boots up normally to system. Now my device is non-rooted and I can not enter download mode at all anymore. However it is working properly and I am using it normally, but it bugs me that download mode is not working. Btw each time I turn on the phone it shows me yellow triangle with exlamanation so it´s obvious that my bootloader is messed up.
Any help appreciated! :good:
That yellow triangle means only that the phone has been modified, not bootloader error or something similar. When you are going into download mode, you're holding your buttons for too long, thats why you're missing your chance of entering it. Hold POWER+VOL DN+HOME buttons until the end of the first long boot vibration.

THANK YOU, works now. I had s3 mini before and it worked by pressing long.
However: volume up+home+power takes me nowhere at all :S
when I press volume down + power + home buttons it get me on a screen which says "select boot mode"
Hi,
I have an ATT LG G3. I've got it rooted, have done a NAND backup, and am now trying to flash a new ROM. I'm trying to get into recovery either via ADB or the old fashioned way by button press, but in either case--after commanding the phone to go to recovery--I seem to get stuck in fastboot mode instead. In tiny print it will say something like "processing fastboot commands" or "fastboot mode started" and then just hangs there....forever. I have to remove the battery and then the phone boots back up normally. But I just can't seem to get into recovery anymore.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Frustrated Noob
Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
Press and hold ‘Volume Down + Power’ buttons together and release them as soon as you see the LG logo on your phone’s screen.
Now immediately press and hold the ‘Volume Down + Power’ buttons again until you see the ‘Hard reset screen’
Press power button once, and then again to confirm hard reset. If you have a custom recovery installed, your phone won’t hard reset and will boot into recovery mode.
Get the app quickboot. Doesn't work with lollipop yet though.

Thanks for replying. If you mean the "factory data reset" prompt, that just brings me to the fastboot screen again. Just tried it. Unless you're referring to another option???

Sound like u didn't install the bumped twrp. Just download the bumped twrp from the development thread and use flashify to flash it. Easiest way. Or u could follow there instructions. But flashify is easier. If u did already do this. Then I don't know why it's not booting into twrp recovery.
