Hi there I have a problem
My problem is that i've just root'ed my HTC Desire (I think?)
But my Desire won't boot right.. It only boots to recovery mode...
If i try to install an update.zip with clockwork it says can't read sd card
Pretty much anything i do on clockwork it says "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E: Can't mount SDCARD:"
I have also tried adb but it says device not found
My computer registres my Desire when i plug it in but it doesn't recognize it..
What shall i do next?
Ps. I am running windows 7 x64
Sorry for any spelling errors i hope you understand and are able to help me
I had a similar problem. Try booting into clockworkmod recovery, connect your phone to your PC and select mount USB (or something like that) from the partitions menu. This should give you access to your SD card on your PC. Next, backup the contents of your SD card and then delete all partitions. I used gParted but i guess you can use disk manager in windows. One deleted, don't format the card or anything, just reboot the phone and hopefully you should boot up OK. Now you can format the SD card from within Android. Before you do all this is might be worth removing your SD card and seeing if you can boot up OK without it.
Thanks for reply
When I choose to "mount usb storage" nothing really happens it is not getting recoqnized
The phone won't boot without sd-card
Do you or anyone else know if you can sync your desire from recovery mode?
One step further
Okay i now got one step furter
My phone can now start up, but it still can't registre sd card
It just says sd-card removed
Any ideas
have you tried the "mount usb" option again? Although nothing appears to happen on the phone, you should be able to access the card from your PC. it worked for me in both Win7 and Ubuntu. Other than that I can't think of anything else apart from trying a different SD card.
I can't choose mount usb storage any more.. I can't get into clockwork
Now, when i press recovery I get into a black screen with at red triangle and i can choose from 3 or 4 things, inluding wipe and apply udate
I've allready tried a diffrent sdcard
Similar problem but extra issues
Searched for hours and been in a live chat a number of times and posted on another forum but can not find specific solution.
I wanted to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789830 HD rom so I partitioned my sdcard (successfully, to ext3 1.5gb, 33mb linux swap, rest fat32) and started wiping via ClockworkMod recovery.
That is when I ran into problems.
Now I can not mount my sdcard - "E:Can't mount /dev/blocl/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1) (invalid argument) Error mounting SDCARD:!"
When I reboot, it just loops.
WinXP will detect my device via adb (when in recovery) but can't see the sdcard.
I had never used fastboot, so I am not sure if I am typing commands correctly.
Htc Desire 2.2 GSM * Uk 3 network * 8gb class2 sdcard * Bravo pvt1 ship S-off Alpharev * Clockwork 2.5.0.7 * HBOOT 0.93.0001 *
Was on Teppic's rom with init.d support http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
Any help would be very much appriciated.
I hope I haven't missed an obvious or relavent thread.
EDIT
Tried sdcard from Nokia6500 but Desire won't mount that either.
When I go into fastboot and plug in my usb, I do get "FASTBOOT USB" come up, so why would cmd "fastboot devices" not detect my phone? In recovery, cmd "adb devices" it does detect it.
I don't mean to be a pest but i doubt any of us can live without our desire's
BUMP
I have the same problem when i make ext etc. for me helps putting card into another phone with android and format it
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have no other android device but...
I have managed to get fastboot cmd's to recognise my device.
Just need to figure how to flash my phone but I dont really want to take any backwards steps in terms of flashing a recovery.
Would like to flash my last set-up if it is possible.
Wish me luck lol
EDIT
Sorted....ish
Long short cut short is:
sdcard reader, reformatted to all fat32 with Paragon hard disc manager 8.
copied rom zip to sd.
full wipe with clockwork recovery.
Then inserted sd and installed zip from sdcard.
booted.
smiled again, even though its a practically stock rom.
ok i just waited and it finally booted up normally and went under sdcard and erased all that data this removes the partitions
I just updated several things on my Sensation. First, I updated from Energy Oct 18 to Energy Oct 22 ROM; second, I updated from Stock Kernel to Bricked v1.4; third, I updated from CWMR 4.0.1.4 to CWMR 5.0.2.0.
Everything is working fine, except for the fact that I can't figure out how to mount my SD Card when connected to my computer via USB right now. After rebooting after updating CWMR, I wanted to install Amaze camera v7.
I can't figure out why I can't mount the disk drive because I didn't change any settings. I have USB debugging enabled, and even in "connect to pc" when I set the default connection type to "disk drive" nothing happens. I also tried unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in, but I still can't get the phone to bring up the prompt asking how I want to connect (and before you ask, I have it set to "ask me about USB connection type whenever I connect my phone to a PC). What do you guys think the problem is? Is it CWMR 5.0.2.0? If it is, I'll gladly change over to that EXT4 Recovery.
Remove you sd card and return it back to the phone.
It sounds like a problem with the SD card. As said above, try removing it and reinserting it.
Or if you have an SD carrier for it, try using that to read it in another reader and format it.
Today I had about 2 dozen sdcard folders that could not be read by Titanium, MyBackUp Pro, Linda Manager etc. Did nothing since a TWRP backup last nite that went fine.
Tried to wipe card to copy a bu from pc but got notification in windows of corrupted files and they would not delete. Those included the above mentioned folders. Also, no luck with trying to use TWRP to wipe card.
Didn't try Fix Permissions with TWRP as didn't think that would apply. So I unmounted card from pc, still pluged in, and selected Format SD Card icon in TWRP.
It stopped on Verifying partition sizes after it started the Formatting /sdcard sequence and has been there for over 20 minutes. So, much easier with a removable card. What would you suggest I do next. Can't take that long to format with TWRP, or can it--?
I normally use SD Formatter and it did take awhile. But, when using the recovery like AmonRa etc only a couple minutes. Obviously not a full format.
Thanks
Ken
Well, I had to back out of formatting and format with sdformatter. Then sdcard wouldn't mount so I did the clear storage method and got data back on sdcard.
Problem is now after reflashing twrp and cwm the bootloader screen still shows the "clear storage" choice. So, even though I can boot into recovery, I could not see any bu's in twrp to restore. I did in cwm and restored Zydroid 3.3.5.
I will see how it runs, but why is clear storage still an option in bootloader, I thought that disappeared with a custom recovery--maybe not??
And why no bu's showed in twrp to restore, but did in cwm-- The only thing I did different was flash twrp thru fastboot as opposed to thru Goo Mgr originally.
Two final notes then I will retry twrp soon and move on:
I don't pay a lot of attn when backing up or restoring. I did watch this time and saw cwm back up recovery as a default. Twrp has that as an option I never selected--not sure it matters--any thoughts--still trying to figure out why twrp showed no bu's when I selected restore, not even the backup folder. But, the folder showed in File Mgr.
And do you guys with custom recoveries show a Clear Storage option as is available with a stock recovery. I don't remember seeing one. If so, why flash a stock recovery to Clear Storage and get sdcard remounted--
If the Clear Storage shouldn't be there, I still may have recovery issues. Although, all good atm on cwm--
TWRP and CWM has different backups iirc, they can not flash backups made in the other.
thanks, but i may have not explained well
I understand that and it is not the issue
problem was i reflashed twrp after restoring my sdcard
when i went to restore my twrp bu thru twrp the twrp bu folder never showed, just a blank screen after tapping restore
thing is i never tried a restore with twrp, so don't know if it ever worked--
solved one issue thru experimenting
you can't change bu name that shows in file mgr. it didn't have a date and I gave it one. then it doesn't show in recovery when you select restore. I did that to give it a date. but, found out when viewed in recovery after tapping restore the date is there not the HT24HW403671 name.
saw on some guides with cwm that clear storage was mentioned, so guess it was always there and didn't notice as never used it
back on twrp and will see how it goes
one question--if you can't change bu name, how do you differentiate btw diff roms in recovery bu folder--keep only one and put rest on pc?
All Resolved--NP with the Folder Names, didn't know the dated bu's were inside the HT folder--
Hopefully no more sdcard unmounting on its own--
I'll update this incase anyone following or has or will have a similar issue
I haved tried two differnet roms Trickdroid/Axiom (have not gone back to LeeDroid yet). Have run twrp and cwm. Deleted SD Card Speed Boost. Have tried mounting thru phone and twrp.
I still get missing/corrupted sdcard folders from DCIM to Downloads and alerts of folder doesn't exist and need to reformat card. I have reformatted with sdformatter and thru phone. Will lose personally made ringtones.
I have gone back to Axioms v01s kernel from the oc vo6. I had that running at 1890 and 1809 and 1674--no help
Just fastbooted the v01 so will see
Seems like a mounting issue, but stumped--maybe card is shot--
Anyone with similar issues or ideas your comments are welcome--not at phone replacement stage yet--
I do unmount properly
running v01 kernel for a day, no issues--1512mhz
did a good backup, all ok--no lost folders
when I open two windows panes on pc to copy bu to pc from phone and backup sdcard to phone issues start
the right pane which is the phone storage pane starts to lose the Removable Disk H disk icon, which is phone. Pane flashes and goes back and forth btw showing card contents and not showing H disk. Also showed empty H folder as nothing on card. I unmounted and remounted phone to pc and all was there. Unmounted and checked card contents with phone not connected to pc--all ok
Beginning to wonder if it is usb port problem--something is losing connection and/or unmounting remounting on its own. Maybe why some folders got corrupted before--still confused--
get popups on pc occasionally that state devise can perform better on a differenet port and sometimes device icon does not show when phone plugged in. I have changed ports, on my third one that only was used for mouse, will see. I have once or twice reinstalled htc drivers--
Hi,
I'm in deepsh*t right now !! ... I was about to install new ROM for my Moto G XT1033, so I wiped clean everything, and while doing the same way, USB OTG was inserted, went back to mount option to mount the USB OTG, but it doesn't mount it, basically I click on it and it doesn't work, is there any other way or I will have to throw away my phone now ??
Is there a way to manually move ROM data to the root directory or under any directory there using just a cable and adt-bundle ??
Nevermind
TWRP wasn't detecting it due to some FS related issue of the pendrive, i just formatted the pen drive from TWRP, though it wasn't mounting I just wanted to check the wipe option for USB OTG, and it formatted into its recognizable FS, i think it would still be NTFS, but anyway, working now !! ... Almost had a heartattack ...
But anyway, if anyone knows, if similar happens, how to move files directly under root access using some tool or commands, connecting the phone with USB and laptop please give an update

Use adb sideload
Agree with post above. Just use either ADB to push a file to your phone or use ADB to sideload a ROM to install.
Try this!

Goto Fastboot Mode and Install philz_touch_6.57.9-falcon.img and try using OTG cable. Make sure the pendrive you use is in FAT 32 format.
exactly

Im not too sure, but i think i have used ntfs before, but as you mentioned fat32 works
I have a problem/question : I want to use USB dongle to flash Q beta, pendrive connected via USB dongle is visible if in the system, but when I reboot to recovery, then it is not. In Install menu I s go to Select storage then USB OTG shows 0 MB and I cannot access it and if I go to Mount menu, USB OTG is not ticketed, but I cannot tick it/mount it (when I press it, it dyas unticketed). Any solutions to that? I tried it on stock kernel and also on Blu spark.
make sure your drive is the correct format. likely the problem

Well it is FAT32, so I think it is ok? Besides as I said - when system is running, files manager sees pendrive and all the files, only in TWRP it cannot be seen...

If it's a usb-c drive try flipping it over.
Even on q betas I've never had an issue with the drive not mounting.
Usually it automounts once you select it as storage. It will show 0mb till you click it

Did you mount it in twrp?

Yeah I know, but clicking it does nothing unfortunately - doesn't open it nor change 0 MB.

Flipping it over sever times also didn't help...
Maybe I should somehow activate USB OTG in the Rom/kernel so it can be used in recovery? Any ideas?
Solved maybe somehow? I have the same.
Did anyone find a fix for this?
Hi, same thing happend to me. The USB drive can't be mount and it's not seen in TWRP. I tried with the drives, intending to do a backup, but with no success.
its probably a slow usb 2.0 drive or the adapter making it mount really slow or when twrp boots goto reboot recovery and reboot it sometimes twrp cant decrypt put on pc and transfer to phone in recovery

It is a 2.0 drive but it works fine once the phone is booted. I will try a 3.0 or a USB C drive later.

I just bought a newer 128Gb USB-C thumb drive and everything works fine.
Had the same issue. Turns out I had plug in my usb before booting into recovery for it to shown up as usbotg in TWRP.
ntfs drive canoot red by all twrp but fat32 can be read all twrp , but how we fix?
I've noticed that if I tried connecting a USB drive by way of my USB otg cable, it wouldn't pick it up.
However, when I used my drive that has a type C connector at the end and plugged it in, it would work.
This is the drive that has both the USB and the type C connector, one on each end. The USB side with otg adapter would not work in twrp
I know this is a really really old post....but....I have a OP 3 with olny Pitch Black recovery on it. I have (at least to this point) never walked away from something like this, but shortly this phone is going in the creek behind my apartment if I can not fix it.
adb - nope doesnt recognise
otg - nope
rebooted and shut down and restarted with usb plugged in - nope
msm - 10 different tools -nope
I'm just a duffer, and I dont even know if this is possble, but could I write/modify files in terminal to get/force to recognise otg/adb/msm?
I've been at this about 3 months, continuing to believe, perhaps erroneously, that I will be able to use the damn again. Any help/suggestions/cults I can join, phone gods to pray to to move the ball forward - appreciated more than there are descripitives in the mother-tongue to quantify.
but, please tell me change usb ports, cables, computers, any of that stuff..been there, done that about 100 times
I know that all these tools are installed correctly
Thank you for you time and energy considering my plea (more accurately, my prayer)
btw, phone is not encrypted, according to PB - wiped and formated from recovery mucho times
