Cubot X17 GPS - Android General

I have recently replaced the screen on my Cubot X17 and since the GPS has stopped working (not sure it was before).
The sensor detector apps seem to think it is present and working, the GPS Status app is unable to get a fix. MTK Tools doesn't seem to receive valid data either. I can only think that I dislodged the GPS aerial during the screen fix but I really don't know what it looks like. Does anyone have a simple schematic of the components of the X16/X17 ?
Many thanks
Apologies I think I have posted this in the wrong place

[Q] how to check if android tablet has GPS

Hi all,
I bought a Chinese android tabled (without any make specified). on the box it is written that it should have a build-in gps. There are also several navigation programs installed. None of them is working.
There is an option to enable the gps - when I click there appears a green tick next to it without any system message for error. Does this mean that it has a gps chip?
I know that my device doesn't have Bluetooth so when I enable the BT from the settings nothing happens.
What do you think? How can i check if I have a GPS module?
WELL...BRO.....a Chinese device?what kind or what is the name?
maybe the only way to find out if there is GPS module is dismantling the device......

Hi. Thanks for the response!
Yes, i was thinking about opening the device but there are no screws so I'm afraid that if I press too hard I will break the display. I really don't know what is the name of the device. The only thing that I know is that it is written "MID" on the box and that's all that I know. Is there anything like "device manager" to check if there is any GPS hardware attached? Please find several photos below but I doubt that somebody will recognize the device because they all look the same...
Edit: I couldn't post the pictures because of some "security reasons"
Thank you.
WELL,"mid"?means"Mobile Internet Devices"?
oh damn....if it is really made in China, maybe most guys here can not answer your question,i'm afraid....
I'm a Chinese...what i can tell you is even a Chinese who has lot of exp of cells or other digital devices can't take care of those baffling things though "MADE IN CHINA"

Epic GPS not working problem, on MT65xx devices after flashing, can it get a fix?

So you already tried everything that's available on the web to fix your Chinese phone GPS after a stock/custom ROM Flashing, and problably your device is a MT6572, MT6577, MT6582, MT6589(T), MT6592, MT6753 or any other media tek.
You already tried:
1 - The classic method, that shouldn't even be mentioned in a case like this, and felt like an idiot:
* DOWNLOAD EPO AND ENABLE AGPS.
2 - The Plan B Method: Used Faster GPS app to create or manually changed your GPS.config file.
3 - The plan C Method: Deleted mtkgps file and restarted.
4 - The plan D Method: Searched for a NVRAM file on the Web and tried to restore it using MTK Tools.
5 - The plan E Method: You downloaded/replaced the file libmnlp_mt6572 in your system/xbin folder.
6 - The plan F Method: You Downloaded/replaced the files mtk_agpsd from bin folder, agps_profiles_conf.xml from etc folder, android.hardware.location.gps.xml from etc/permissions folder, gps.default.so from lib/hw folder and mtk_stp_gps.ko from lib/modules folder.
7 - The plan G Method: Perhaps you tried some African ritual...
8 - You climbed Mount Fuji to get some signal, and had to keep your screen ON in the GPS APP during 2 hours.
9 - You tried some Native Indian ritual...
10 - You hacked you GPS Antenna, building a custom one as it is shown YouTube tutorials, and it works... for the guys who made the videos.
Your GPS was working before flashing, even if weak, so you know your hardware is not broken or something.
11 - You tried to transform into Mumm Ra the ever living!
12 - Like me, it's been over 1 week since you decided to fix this issue, and you're about to pull all your hair. In my case I'm spending hours on this, I'm really trying to get a solution.
AND NOTHING WORKED AFTER DELETING, REPLACING, DOWNLOADING.
You even learnt and tried using EXPELLIARMUS!!!
Still didn't work...
And your GPS still can't get a lock, even with all the network aid, all the tutorials you found in the web. If you religious, you even asked Jesus to help you (At least that was my case). But your phone is still the same.
Now you feel like an idiot that is never, ever again going to buy another Chinese phone anymore in your life, but you don't want to discard your phone, what you're going to do?
Well I -- STILL -- haven't found a solution, but I found a clue that may lead to a solution. Since I'm not a smart ass programmer that knows basically everything about Androids, I humbly come here now to open this discussion and see if we can finally find a solution for this problem that I believe it already annoyed at least 1 hundred people around the globe.
My clue is:
1 - I saw some people saying that when they restored their NVRAM backup after flashing the stock ROM, they got their GPS working again. So it is related to NVRAM, but with what in NVRAM?
2 - Today I was testing some hacks, when I disabled my SIM card, I the GPS TEST app could not find any satellites anymore, and I was using wifi, so it makes no sense at all, I mean, could the GPS be using the 3G/GMS/WCDMA band?
I believe the GPS device is operating in a different frequency, probably the same as the SIM CARD, and that's why people can't get a lock.
That's related to NVRAM. Perhaps with the 900/2100 and 850/2100 operator frequencies.
Let's discuss and see if we can find a definitive solution for this case, please.
Found this in another forum:
we were discussing this point also in the thread regarding unlocking the 3G bands.
it seems that neither the NVRAM nor the ROM alone has much effect regarding to the GPS, but it seems that if either one does not match the other you can also have trouble with your GPS.
how it's connected i do not know - actually as you said it should not be connected at all.
but it's pretty much clear now that the 850/2100 and 900/2100 phone have at minimum different radio hardware.
We were not able to determine how the bands were locked/opened through the firmware (since it would make sense that in theory both are available but can be turned on or off by the manufacturer, because its more expensive for MTK to produce actually different radio hardware) so that suggest that there is a hw difference. that could be connected to the GPS also.
in other threads people had reported that by upgrading the firmware they nuked their NVRAM (lost IMEIs, changing MAC address etc.) and most of them had problems with the GPS afterwards.
better safe than sorry. if you really want to try this out, please make sure to have a working backup of your NVRAM beforehand.

So a site about developers doesn't have a developer that could ever solve that issue?

Wi-Fi not working anymore

Hello everyone,
the wi-fi in my Nexus 5 does not work, happened suddenly, usually does not activate and when it is activated not find available networks.
I found this thread in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/qa-wifi-stuck-mac-020000000000-g2-g3-g4-t3452133
in the second message of this discussion there is a user message explaining how to solve the problem, some users managed to solve by following this information
6.a Sellotape / Scotch tape
You need to make sure that your WiFi chip is pressed against the main board (ideally, this ensures the broken contacts touch each other, solving the problem). The best way to achieve this, is to attach a series of tape strips on the top of the WiFi chip, causing it to be pressed against the main board by the surrounding cover/hull once you reassemble/close the device. The tape strips are just a suggestion, do whatever you find convenient as long as you ensure that the chip is pushed against the board at all times.
This method may solve the WiFi problem already. When you turn your device back on, give it some time (5-10 minutes) and reboot it a few times if the problem still persists. My own WiFi didn't function right away, but after a while it finally recovered - hurray!

and always in the same thread has a demonstration video, however, tried on a LG G3
the video is here:

Now, I would like to try this on my nexus .... but I ask ... where's the wi-fi chip in the Nexus 5?
any of you have tried this solution?
It seems to have solved this problem to many people
nobody ?

Sensors (Gyro, ACC, Mag) work in an erratic way on my new K1 Shield

Last days I started to setup my new Nvidia Shield K1. I like to use tis for flying a DJI Mavic Pro and rely on functioning sensors. I also have installed AndroSensor and GPS Status. If I start one of this Apps the ACC sensor is working for a seconds and then the signals are completely freezing. After this I only get it back to work after and complete reboot of the Tablet. Also the Gyro and the Mag sensor does not look to be working at all. I have never seen any data on this. AndroSensor is waiting for an event for this two sensors and GPS Status shows some initial movement on the level sensor but never any reaction on the compass. Sometimes I even seen the orientation is not working anymore and the screen will not adjust anymore. In most of the cases the orientation is still working even with the frozen sensor output in the two Apps. Im using this two apps with a few of my other Android devices without having issues. My actual version is Android 6.0.1 with Shield software 1.5(24.3.70.8). I already have done a complete factory reset but after this the problem is the same. Any feedback is appreciated. I may need to RMA the device.
I got an replacement K1 yesterday and set it up again. With stock Android version all sensors are working fine for a day. Than i made the OTA update to latest (same as above). Now ACC and Gyro is still working but not the MAG. The problem looks to be at least partial related to the firmware. Mag sensor problems are reported also in the past for the K1 already. Also MAG calibration will not make any change. Androsensor is reporting "waiting for event" and GPS Status shows and wrong compass direction (was fine with the initial firmware before OTA). Not sure what can be done here. I was expecting when i invest in an tablet of an reputable vendor (which is also not very cheap) i get something working well. Now i either have a second bad tablet or there is still something wrong with the firmware. It would be good if someone with the latest OTA update can confirm this behavior or can confirm that everything is working as expected. Many thanks.
Here is some more information for the case: _https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/986542/shield-tablet/sensors-gyro-acc-mag-work-in-an-erratic-way-on-my-new-k1-shield/?offset=7

GPS not working after replacing battery

Hi guys,
I've been using my smartphone since October 2017 and it has come the time to change the battery , which I did.
Now, i've noticed that my GPS is no more working. I mean not able to get some positions at all !
- No more driving using Google map
- I tried to reset position using tools like GPS reset and so on.
- Set the phone in Air plane mode.
I'm trying to figure out if something bad happened when I opened the phone ?
Anyone knows where is located the GPS inside the phone ? Or any comments ?
Thanks !
I may have find the reason , gps is no more working.
I realized that 1 pin out of 2 is broken.
Now I can only assuming that theses pins are used to get proper Gps signal.
Ah. so sad !
