Galaxy S5 overheating too much? - General Questions and Answers

Just browsing. Attached screenshots to the thread. Battery at peak at 40 celsius and CPU at 82 celsius. I feel it is becoming hot on both rear and screen too. What should I do? It is not used to be like this. Use to happening after performing the firmware update. Did factory data reset. Ambient temperature about at 25 celsius. Help please.

Battery temperature question

Just curious, My S3 battery averages between roughly 89-102 degrees. The phone itself runs quite cool with the custom rom I am on. How high of a threshold is the battery safe to go to? I have read some getting it up to 140 degrees, 102 worries me but I know the GPU's in my computer run over 200 degrees (though they are a completely different thing).
Just figured i'd ask, thanks guys!

If that's Fahrenheit 89-102 your talking about (31-39 Celsius) your OK depending on ambient temperature.
Mostly everyone quotes Celsius, that's why I ask. Ninety degrees Celsius you're in trouble that's way to high.
Hope this Help's

Haha yes, sorry this is in Fahrenheit. I'll have to remember to use Celsius from now on. Average ambient temperatures has been pretty high and humid here as well, probably close to 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit >.<.
Thanks for the reply!

High Temperature Z3

hi, my z3 gets around 45-48 degree celcius while idling. and could get up to 58 degree celcius while playing game. is that normal? if its not, how can i fix it?
Seems pretty warm for idling. Do you live in a hot place/region? What apps have you downloaded? Maybe there are some errant apps. As for games yea Im not surprised if its getting that hot.
Sorry for the necroing the thread, but this is relevant. I live in Eastern Canada and right now it is the winter time. My house is room temperature and this my phone's "tsens_tz_sensor0" is fluctuating between 47 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Sensor 5 is fluctuating between 54 to 56 degrees Celsius. Sensor 6 is between 45 to 46. Sensor 8 is between 43 to 45. The other sensors show minimal to no change at all.
Is this normal?? My phone has an unlocked bootloader, I'm running updated, stock CA generic rom, and it is rooted. Before unlock of the bootloader, my phone was running fine temperature wise, but I did not check the temperature checking app.

I was Searching for Temperature issues with Z3 because i have temps of about 40-42 C when recording Videos..
Coming across with this it seems really bad.
and i am recording at 1080p 30fps and after about 15mins i get the Temperature too high warning, is that normal??
I Live in a Pretty Hot Place but i have My S3 Beat it like its no big deal.. it can go for about an hour at same settings
Yeah it's expected the S3 has an older 1.4 Ghz A9 CPU, the Z3's 801 runs at 2.5 Ghz which means higher voltage and in turn temps. Samsung also allow the chipset to run hotter.
Do you use the FB messenger?
I found it caused my phone battery drain and warm.
Uninstalled and fixed.

Hi, please tell us how do you realize that?
My another forum group found it and share to us.
As far as I know Z3 don't have any sensor for temperature measure :-?
How you guys can give such accurate readings?

HIGH Temps on S5!?

I just updated to the new S5 Verizon update otherwise known as lollipop 5.0 and i never really checked my temps back in 4.4.4 but my CPU temp is at 110 degrees Fahrenheit(58 degrees Celsius) and 98 degrees Fahrenheit battery (37 degrees Celsius) Im in a pretty warm room with the house temp set at like 75 degrees. Are these temps still abnormal though even with my house set pretty warm
Perfectly normal temps for a high-end device in use in a warm environment. Not normal for an idle device. What were you doing on it? Were you holding it encased in your hand?
You should start worrying around 80ÂșC.

Its quite normal for your device to warm up slightly during heavy use or in a warm environment. since you've been using it, you would know if it feels warmer than before. Most causes of Android phones heating up are bad battery, bad PSU and heavy apps or processes running. You can read his guide on how to fix an overheating Android phone if you feel it gets warmer thanusual to help diagnose possible causes and how to resolve.

Is this overheating?

Hi guys
I have my Mate 7 Gold edition for more than an year now and in last period of time I'm experiencing some heat coming from my phone that I don't remember experienced in the past. In idle mode it's nice and cool at 27-29 degrees celsius, but when I start browsing and it's normal browsing btw, not videos, the phone gets up to 38-40 degree celsius and I feel the heat on the back of the phone, especially around the camera and in that area. Is this normal?
I did a factory resest but still the same. CPUz says at the status of the battery "good". The phone has never been rooted, it has lollipop and I still have warranty for him until march 2017.
This overheating is normal after some time but also a new mate 7 will overheat after some time because its the problem of the CPU, the CPU's from Huawei Phones are often very Good with a good combination between CPU and GPU which gives you almost a good Performance but it will overheat after some time. So its just a hardware combination problem from Huawei.
i got my phone overheat when doing backup in twrp untill 100 deg C. ( that what is says on the screen) i quickly dump it in the freezer. sometime it overheat it cannot charge at all
usually twrp causing it overheatin bet 50 to 70 deg C
can you tell me what is your phones normal temperature while browsing? i'm just curios if it ever gets to 38C. i don't know why it's going so high from normal browsing
common guys, help me here a little does your mate 7s ever gets to 38 degree celsius while browsing? anyone
mine CPU-Z show this, cluster 0-35, cluster1-36 gpu-35 modem-36, ddr-82, system_h-31, system_l-70, battery-29. facebook, messenger, viberand whatsapp running in background. While browsing i notice me to that it is more hot sometimes but only sometimes.
I went to a store near me and tested mate 8 and p9 . mate 8 went to 35 degree celsius with browsing the web and p9 33-34 celsius. on both i was feeling the heat from the back of the phones, so maybe it's normal and i didn't noticed since now. anyway, i wil pay atention to this, hope it's ok.

Question How to overcome camera performance when hitting 40 celcius

Hello everyone,
I am using Huawei P50 Pro Global version with latest EMUI. Which running with Snapdragon 888.
I am using Franco Kernel Manager which I was used on previous Android phone to customize kernel configuration, but now without root we can still use it to monitor our Battery and CPU info. And the idle temperature for the CPU is about 35-37 celcius here without Air Conditioner in Jakarta, ID.
And I just took some photos for less than 15 or 10 picture, it will quickly reach 40 celcius or more, then the camera performance is very poor just like cheap xiaomi device with watercolor, it is so very very bad. So I need to cool it down to below 40 celcius to make the camera performance better again.
Is it just me or anyone else face the same issue?
It is a second phone that I bought from ppl, not the store, but still in warranty for the next 6 months.
If it is really phone issue, not the temperature issue, then I might bring this to the service center, but if anyone else here also face the same issue, maybe we should invest with phone cooler like Flydigi B5 ? I am currently using Flydigi B1, but the vibration of the fan makes the Image swinging in camera, I think it is because of OIS. And with Flydigi B1 only keep the temperature to 40 celcius, I was using Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, it would reach 33 to 35 celcius. Is that so bad with the back cover of this Huawei?
FYI, I already turn it into Power Saving mode and disable almost everything but it still won't lower the idle temperature, and getting lower than 40 celcius is not easy, it would takes 5mins or more.
Regards.
now i just purchased phone cooler Flydigi B5 to overcome any heat on phone and it really useful that with smart and balance mode it can reach 29celcius degree in cpu temperature in a normal room temperature about 26 celcius..it might be cooler like 20 celcius with overclock features, but we may not need it that way, maybe on the outside will do
