[Q] Tmobile VOLTE

Anyone using the Honor 8 on US Tmobile and having issues with VOLTE? I see the setting is set but I don't get VOLTE when I make a call, it drops to 4G and no web browsing is available because data speed drops.
I stopped using VoLTE awhile back, I have an Honor 8 [Emui 5] and I have used T-Mobile for a very long time.

So you do NOT get VOLTE? What FW version are you on?
Has Huawei/Honor indicated any support for Wifi calling in future updates?
I get VOLTE on Honor 8. FRD-L04 model. I'm stock rooted EMUI 4.1.

It says 4GLTE while I'm on a call in the status bar.
VoLTE works great on T-Mobile for my Honor 8.
Honor 8 T-mobile has issues with VoLTE. When you call another Tmobile, it makes call continously for 15 to 18 times. I stopped using VoLTE.
works, no only if they can send and update to get wifi calling working

I am using TMobile and Honor 8 EMUI 5. Yes, I have VoLTE turned off now as enabling it fails to call other TMobile numbers.
Is there any disadvantage over turning off VoLTE? What do I lose?

That's bizarre. I have no issues with that.
One disadvantage would be if you're in a band 12 area. The phone will have to drop to the old network to make a call. The old network may not have as good a signal.
Hold the power button until the device hard reboots. This fixes weird call issues for me.

Honor 6X VoLTE ?

Does this provide VoLTE support out of the box ?
or should we wait till the VoLTE update ?
It depends on the carrier you have, when it approves it, then honor should push a Volte enabled OTA (like it did with th 5x)
Just off topic, nowadays with a lot of messenger apps supporting video chat, I see less and less benefits of using VoLTE...

If there is only LTE support from a particular network, then without VoLTE you cant make calls.
There is app for speaking calls in LTE in case of JIO network. But still we don't want that app.
I like to use the normal inbuilt dialer rather than that app.
Also, if that app is closed, we cant receive calls. So VoLTE is necessary to supports mobile networks which doesn't support to 2G or 3G and solely having only 4G LTE.

Since the company is giving out free data of 1 GB everyday, it is like revolution over here in India. So people are preferring mobiles with VoLTE out of the box to be the part of that network.

AOSP 5.1 is really stable you should use that one.
Currently using AOSP 5.1, which is in fact stable, but I would love to have 6.0 on this "beast". I would also donate to somebody who comes out with a stable 6.0 ROM.

that would be really great in fact and i would donate too. i guess that somebody could just fix the cyanogen version but i m not that somebody sadly. I know the Russians are working on that, you can check pptv russian forum and translate it they re some interesting infos there
I will also donate to. I is really shame that this kind of smartphone (good spects and good price) has not found it self in developers community to produce at least one good rom in 6.0 Marshmallow!!! So yes I will donate.
I would donate as well this is a superb phone and could only get better on 6
Reliance JIO sim is not working on PPTV King 7
Hi, I am new to this site.
Recently I bought PPTV King 7 and when I inserts Reliance JIO sim in to slot no. 1 which is dedicated to 4G. After inserting the sim its showing the sim is JIO sim and also showing the signal strength. And I set the settings as the data connection, calls and messages to JIO Sim.
But the net is not connecting, calls are not incoming and outgoing. I tried to call from my another mobile number to this JIO sim and its saying as "the mobile number is out of coverage area, or switched off". After I removed the JIO sim from PPTV King 7 mobile and inserted my brother mobile and its works perfectly the net is connected, calls and messages also incoming and outgoing. There is no problem with my brother mobile.
I don't know what's wrong with PPTV King 7 mobile and is it works with Reliance JIO 4g band in India? and How to solve this problem.
And also I want to install Android 6.0 or higher version in my PPTV King 7 mobile, please guide me and help me in this regard.
Thanks in advance.

Kalyan Kumar

T-Mobile WiFi Calling

Hey guys,
I suppose I'm not purporting to have the step-by-step solution, but rather a potential solution should this be investigated by someone in the know? I'm trying to look up how to do this myself.
The only thing really holding me back from using this phone is the lack of support for WiFi calling. Otherwise, the recent phh-treble ROM has been entirely sufficient for me. I recently happened upon this thread on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/6yvu29/project_treble_and_wifi_calling/
It would seem that the only thing necessary to enable WiFi calling, you need a proper carrier configuration:
...T-Mobile uses a standard VoLTE / VoWiFi implementation working out-of-the-box in AOSP when the proper carrier configuration is included...
...It mostly requires the appropriate CarrierConfig vendor.xml overlay and a working AOSP build...
Click to collapse
At first I assumed ROM developers would have to do potentially annoying proprietary stuff.
I'm almost wondering if a vendor.xml with an appropriate configuration could be ripped from a working device with WiFi calling (e.g., my old XZ1 Compact) and be repurposed for the Mix 2S.
Thoughts?
It's possible Xiaomi doesn't have enough US customers to enable this feature in the US. I've had 4 Xiaomi phones that I've used on T-Mobile--MI Note 3, MI A1, MI Mix 2 and MI Mix 2S and WiFi calling worked on none of them including the MI A1 which ran stock Android instead of MIUI. But MI A1 owners who ran LOS did report that WiFi calling worked on their phones. I'm sure it's doable but probably not as simple as copying an XML Profile from another phone. There is no option for enabling or disabling WIFI Calling in the Global ROM. The ROM you are running would presumably need to support WIFI Calling in order for it to work.

Which Xiaomi phones you have can work with Tmobile's Volte? I suppose Volte on Tmobile requires a B12 and Tmobile's authorization, maybe? Am thinking about buying A2, Redmi note 5, Mix2s or Mi 8 ...

Thanks to Ulver for helping with this. So how will you know if you are connected to Volte? Does the screen shows the word "Volte" on the upper right corner when you are connected, like one of my xiaomi phone used in China when I traveled?
Anyone has Tmo's volte and wifi calling experiences with Mi8, Mi Max3, Mi6 or even Vivo nex and Oppo find x? I really like these phones and am considering buying one of them
PS it looks like Tmobile Volte doesn't require Tmo side's authorization or support, as many chinese phones that are not sold in the US have Volte support. Wifi calling maybe is now the only one that needs Tmo's bake-ins. Thoughts?
You can see the voLTE icon in the status bar. Unfortunately, WiFi calling is a no go.

I think Volte worked on the MI A1 as well.
If you use a signal app it will show you have 4G. If you don't have working Volte when you make a call the data changes to 3G until you end the call. If the data stays 4G while you are on the call then Volte is working.
If you use an MVNO whether you get Volte can be a crapshoot. I use Mint Mobile for my primary service. Mint Mobile does not officially offer Volte but I have always gotten it on a variety of different phones. Mint Mobile does officially offer WiFi calling but they can't tell you which phones it will work on. My backup/emergency phone uses SpeedTalk which is another T-Mobile MVNO like Mint Mobile but there is no Volte or WiFi calling.
My old Mi5 got VoLTE but no Xiaomi and Wificalling :/
It's so weird, my original MiMix had wifi calling, but the new Mix 2S doesn't, they removed it from latest MiUi's.
There used to be a way to implement WIFI Calling in the MIUI dialer but I don't think the feature worked for most people even after it was enabled. Hopefully they will at least put it back in the Global ROMs but people have actually been asking for WIFI calling on Xiaomi phones for years. I've owned a MI Note 3, MI A1, MI Mix 2 and MI Mix 2S and none of those phones had WIFI calling--although people did claim that WIFI calling worked on the A1 if you ran LOS instead of the native stock Android ROM. But the MI A1 is an Android One phone that runs stock Android instead of MIUI and it didn't have WIFI calling.
In Mi A1, of running stock Android One then just open the stock phone app ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer )
Tap on three dots at top right corner > tap on settings > tap calling accounts > tap the sim ( service provider) and you'll get Wi-Fi Calling option.
My umidigi one pro does vollte And wifi calling out of the box.
It probably a feature they decided to leave out. And a deal breaker for me exactly why I have a umidigi and not a minute mix 2s now
That phone would have been my choice but I had to return it because the Umidigi needed charging 3X a day and I don't play a single game. (charging is fast, but I'm not always near an outlet and I didn't like the capacity meter -- it would say I had 10%, I'd presume I had a few minutes, and it would suddenly go dark). MBJBDC, has that been your experience?
I was impressed enough that I'll keep an eye on Umidigi in future but I ended up replacing it with a Redmi Note 5.
I can't enable Volte on the Redmi -- it's grayed out. (I shouldn't have been able to enable it on the Umidigi, technically, because I am ATT prepaid which doesn't include Volte or wifi calling).
If you go with the Redmi Note 5 in the U.S. be sure you get the whyred version, M180327sh, which has FDD LTE Band 2 in Addition to Band 4. No trouble getting FDD LTE at all in an area with few towers (once I made a bunch of settings changes). The Note 5 quality is fantastic -- apart from lacking a USB C port, better functioning hardware in general than on my Mi Max 2 -- supposedly a better Xiaomi. Even the camera was a pleasant surprise. But I am disappointed about wifi calling. If Umidigi can do it, why can't Xiaomi?
I have WiFi Calling working on Mix 2S with T-Mobile. Albeit with a Project Fi simcard in slot 2. Confirmed by putting phone in airplane mode, connecting to WiFi and dialing out using the "Hangout Dialer" app.

that's voIP
This phone does support WiFi calling.
It does not however support US carrier WiFi calling configurations, as the profile must be programmed into the radio for it. I have undergone extensive radio enablement, and cannot get it working.
Since Xiaomi doesn't sell their phones in the US, I guess we're lucky to even get the global LTE bands in there.
If you have high speed internet at home, get the cellspot v2. It's $25 deposit, and works great. I had to make that move unfortunately, but glad I did.

I know this is ao old thread but in case anyone else is having difficulty activaring wifi calling it works fine on all three of my xiaomi phones (redmi note 5, mi max 2, mi max 3). I have tested all three on ATT and TMO as well as safelink (tracfone) with att and tmo configured sims. it also works with Teltik (a tmo business reseller).
I actually thought it wasn't working because when I entered the provisioning menu using *#*#4636*#*# wifi calling is grayed out. However you can toggle wifi calling on and off with *#*#869434#*#*
(the option is still grayed out but you get a flashing message saying carrier wifi calling is turned on.) anyhow just turn data off and make a call to test. Although I have heard e911 had to be set up first, I can only presume the carriers did it for me since all works as it should.

Cann you tell us where you found those call codes? Is there a datasheet. That would be amazing :victory:
I'm sorry it was a forum post but I cant remember which forum. There are lots of Play store apps with codes ... Might be one geared specifically toward Miui but Ive used the general apps and quite a few of the codes work. Note: the codes only work with the stock Android dialer. It is too bad that the Xiaomi sponsored Miui forum is so useless for finding valid, current info. Even when you get results using Google to search the links are always dead (although most are cached in google and Yandex). Good luck!

I don't if this is a possible fix to your problem or not but I do notice the same problem with Jio network on Redmi Note 7 Pro, although it shows max network connectivity on the status bar but trust me the network issue with this device ( at least with Jio) exists, Try using any custom ROM and check if the lag decreases, I'm on DerpFest v10 right now, I get ping 80 - 90.

This is a problem with jio itself... Same location 2 different devices. .. One is redmi note 7 pro and other is zuk z2 plus.... Both are experiencing ping issues... There are 2 reasons-
1- due to the ongoing wuhan virus situation, the already overloaded network of jio has been overburdened.
2- a lot more players have signed up for PUBG due to the same lockdown.... So more players, more load on servers
Two speedtests on different devices.. Same location... Jio operators... Speeds and pings are more or less same... So there isn't a problem with redmi note 7 pro
