XT1250 wiped with TWRP... now can't install O.S. - Moto Maxx Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So basically, after I rooted, I was stuck in a bootloop at the "warning: bootloader unlocked" screen when I tried to boot, so I tried "factory reset" with the same result. Then I DL'd the stock xt1250 firmware and the update back to 5.0.2 (which the phone had before I F'd it up), but TWRP won't install either of them.
I can access the bootloader, and TWRP recovery, but any other option from the bootloader, or restarting results back in the "warning: bootleader unlocked" screen loop
I've seen a few places on here that there is a Brazilian version of 6.0.1 that it TWRP-able, but living in the U.S.of.A. and not being able to speak Portuguese, I was wondering if that would work for me?
thanks,
N.K.

Actually, I just tried copying the Brazilian 6.0.1 onto the phone and I got an error that "the file is larger than the device limit", so I guess that option's out!
I feel horrible right now! I just got this awesome phone, and broke it within 2 days
I really hope someone can help!

Status Update:
-I downloaded a bunch of zips... American xt1250 4.4.4 and conversion to 5.0.2 (which the phone is), Brazilian xt1225 5.0.2 and 6.0.1
-I tried RSD because twrp was obviously doing nothing.
-I ended up getting one to work, which was the Brazilian 5.0.2 with some files from another one (I forgot which, but I think the American 5.0.2 conversion) because is was lacking some key components (which it seems they all were).
-none of the others worked at all
-I have yet to test my sim card in it, but...
Problem:
-I got my phone up and running, but now the wifi wont turn on. It says "turning on wifi..." but nothing ever happens. I looked it up and found lots of stuff about wifi and bluetooth not turning on, but my bluetooth seems to turn on as it should.

Aright... I installed Bliss Rom, and it all works! The camera sucks compared to the stock camera, but I can live with that. Thanks for the help everyone! :good: :good: :good:

The TWRP-flashable 6.0.1 ROM was made by a Verizon user who lives in the U.S. It works for ALL Quarks. It doesn't matter what language you speak, you choose the language you want at the bootup screen. Just like every other version of Android.

Tons of people are using that TWRP-flashable ROM. You have 64GB storage space unless you've used it all up. So, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to transfer that file and flash it.

Glad you got it running! However, in the future don't just download and flash anything. Brazilian 5.0.2 won't work because it's not made for your phone (U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250), and the radio/modem won't work. The Brazilian TWRP flashable 6.0.1 file works in part because @iiWoodstocK used custom @bhb27 kernel to make it compatible. It's stock Motorola Marshmallow ROM otherwise. So, that one was OK, but just flashing XT1225 firmware for your XT1250 is not wise.
Also, you can't downgrade bootloaders, so be careful when flashing different versions of software. You can downgrade from MM to Lollipop or even Kitkat, but you have to leave out gpt.bin.
It seemed you were just flashing a lot of stuff, so be careful.

You can change the camera. There's stock Moto Camera files in this forum you can flash. This is from the Bliss ROM thread:

^^ agreed. great ROM. as far as camera quality, that is just the stock CM camera. idk why. i never use it for that reason. there are a few "moto canera and gallery" flash able zip files on androidfilehost.com and mega. or you can try to install them from Play store. the moto ones are better in that aspect. the htc 10 camera works okay as do several others. find a replacement that works for you.

Try reflashing the modem/radio in ADB. Not restoring in TWRP, but actually flashing the XT1254 radio again.

I need KK Backup

hey all
after unlocking bootloader and rooting , now i can't flash any roms because it will stuck on boot animation , SO any one has KK CWM or TWRP backup for GLobal Version to go back to working phone ? i will not flash any thing anymore .
really Appreciated .
I have one, although I'm not entirely sure it'll work?
What about any privacy issues regarding my information?
I'll try and do a backup, then wipe my phone and then do another backup so you get a clean version, okay?
Edit: I don't exactly know how to share the backup. Can I just connect phone to laptop and upload here as is?

I think you are better off just restoring it to factory fresh yourself. It doesn't take long at all just find the correct stock ROM and use fastboot. Here is a guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 it seems complicated, I skipped most of the explanation and just used Fastboot using the commands in 3b).
Here follows a simpler version.

I myself went back to stock, but left it rooted so that I can make backups. I need a ROM which supports the Motorola magnetic flip cover, couldn't find one, so gave up for now. As to your getting stuck on boot animation, I had the same trouble until I used TWRP ver 2631

[Q] Flashing bootloader locked Cricket Moto G/LTE to retail firmware

I want to flash my Cricket Moto G (xt1045) 4.4.4 to the retail 4.4.4 version for a few reasons. Mainly to get access to tethering and the chance that I will be able to update to Lollipop since my hope of cricket releasing the update is fading.
I've been searching around and cannot find a definite answer to this. Lots of people say it should work but I have yet to find anyone who successfully did so. Some say to flash all files but the bootloader and it should be good while others say being the official Motorola firmware everything will flash without a problem.
Has anyone took the plunge and tried it? I would, but I really don't want to be stuck with my Lumia 520 backup phone if I screw something up. Thanks!

Is that the page? His instructions and ROM download seem to be for a XT1068, not a XT1045. Did you find the ROM files for a 1045 somewhere? I'd like to get access to wifi tethering, too...
Yes, that is the page. I'm assuming the software install would be the same for all models in the Moto G group. The ROM files are located in a thread on here titled "Moto G 4G/LTE Stock Firmware (XT1039/40/42/45)"
Would post a link, but I'm still not allowed.

Link for those looking for it.
Thanks for the link. Maybe I will give this a try, I'm buying an android stereo for my car and need wifi tethering to run the GPS.
If you wind up trying it before I do, let us know! This would theoretically only update the ROM, we'd still be stuck with a locked bootloader, right? If we could find a 4.4.2 ROM, then the Sunshine S-off unlock would work, and we'd be set.

No problem. I will report back if I try, you do the same if you beat me to it! Yes, the bootloader would still be locked, but the software should install since it is an official Motorola signed software. I think I recall reading somewhere that flashing to 4.4.2 would not allow unlocking through sunshine though.

macgi , I gave this a try last night and the results were extremely not good. Wasn't able to flash the retail firmware, got a bunch of "prevalidation flash failed" on some items, but not others, and then it wouldn't boot. Tried to reflash the cricket firmware to revert back, and got the same prevalidation error for the boot image and the partition gpt.bat file, and now I can't get past the fastboot screen.

I'm assuming you tried using the link above? Or did you try flashing each individual file and skipping the bootloader file which was talked about in the firmware thread? (I believe it was around pages 20-30 if I recall)
Found it
@JoeSyr, maybe I'm missing something here specific to Moto G LTE, but flashing a firmware image does not require an unlocked Bootloader. I would do it manually, skip most of the steps, and only flash the system.img initially.
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
The only way you can get into serious trouble would by flashing the motoboot.img (Bootloader) and phone no longer loads fastboot mode. But even then, is there not a hardbrick mbm-ci recovery option for Moto G 4G

I tried running the ROM Install.bat file the guy put together in the first page you/I linked to, which did attempt to flash the bootloader. It sounds like this person you're quoting is saying the flash should be operational even just flashing those three chunks of the system image file? I think those files wrote okay, but it still didn't boot. Problem might be with this other partition file i mentioned.

no, haven't really gotten a chance to mess with it, yet. I popped my sim card into an old samsung galaxy Blaze I had laying around as a backup, and I've been getting by with that for the time being. I tried flashing with some more tools, different firmwares, and different combinations of commands, no luck.
I found a guy in the stock firmware thread that had the exact same problem as me, and has the same cid as my phone, cid 10, which no one else seems to have. They think it might be why the preflash validation failed.
Other users suggested that if a cricket lollipop firmware image is developed at some point in the future, that would be able to flash without error. I reached out to the user to see if he ever resolved it, but didn't get a response.
Anyway, the sense that I got is that my problems were because my cid didn't match. Is yours cid 10 as well? you can check from adb. If it's not, you might be fine attempting it.
It's been a while since I checked, but I believe it is cid 10 as well. Now just hoping cricket releases Lollipop soon.....
The lollipop release for the retail (non carrier) version just came out OTA yesterday, apparently, so hopefully Cricket is not too far behind...Though it will probably take a while to go from an OTA update to a downloadable firmware image.
I contacted Motorola tech support today, they said they would replace the phone for $75 + taxes (flashing firmware via adb fastboot voids the warranty, of course), and told me it wouldn't have the Cricket firmware on it, so worst case, i would be gaining tethering ability, best case, they might send me a variant (xt1039?) that is capable of being rooted and installing a custom ROM in addition to tether. I'll probably take this option if I'm not able to get it working once the lollipop xt1045 firmware file shows up.
That's not a bad deal. Hopefully you can get it working when lollipop comes out though. Thanks for the update!

Moto G XT1033 Asia Dual Sim Help

So I have a Moto G XT1033 Asia Dual Sim. I was using Kitkat and was very happy with it. Then I updated to Lollipop via OTA and soon figured out I was better off on Kitkat. As I knew how to downgrade, I thought let's give this a try and via some tutorials online I managed to downgrade my phone to Kitkat using some automated .bat files and cmd..
The moment I shifted to Kitkat I came across this issue that the screen flickers while booting and there is no way we can solve that the only solution is lock/unlock the screen and the flicker will go away. After using it for 2 to 3 days I suddenly came across this issue that my phone is leaking battery like crazy. I have attached some screenshots below with wake locks. The phone is showing AWAKE a lot of times. I am now thinking of going back to Lollipop (At least the phone was working fine on 5.0).
Also my phone bootloader is unlocked with custom TWRP recovery and Rooted.
What help I need from XDA :
1. Can you guys tell me what's the issue with the battery leak?
2. How do I update now to 5.0 from this ROM? (As my phone is rooted so I am guessing I will have to flash the zip file) (Found this file in XDA Stock 5.0 collection Retail Asia 5.0.2 Stock ROM (Untouched) (519mb))
3. If I flash this 5.0 file do I have to flash the radio files?
4. After moving back to 5.0 I want to make the phone the way it was earlier (No Root No custom recovery and Bootloader locked) (Any links will help me)
5. My reason to create this thread was, if there is some major issue I can get it solved as my phone will be in warranty only till 30th May. So please help guys.

Since you upgraded your ROM the bootloader will automatically upgrade to lollipop version 41.05(Kitkat) to 41.18(Lollipop). It's better to use lollipop.

I am still on Kitkat but thinking of upgrading..SO you are saying just go back to Lollipop using the file I have mentioned?
There is no ways of going back to old bootloader of kitkat?

No ways then the best option is to just update it to Lollipop and keep the phone alive..
So in that case I should just flash the file mentioned?
Also can you give some links to unroot, remove TWRP and lock bootloader?
And are these battery issues cos of the lollipop bootloader on kitkat?

You know but I really want to know is the battery issues because of the bootloader? Hoping flashing the Lollipop will solve all these issues..
I am getting an error while flashing the Lollipop stock ROM
Solved this error.. Just reboot again in recovery and reflash it
Baseband version
I just used the stock file to update my Moto G XT 1033 Dual Sim to Lollipop. Checked the About phone section with few of my friends and figured that my baseband version is different from them? What is the issue? I also flashed Radio files of 5.0.2 for XT1033
My Baseband is MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R. ROW_DSDS_CUST
All other friends baseband is MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R. EMEA_DSDS_CUST
Also from the time I have downgraded my phone from Lollipop to kitkat and then updated to lollipop using these zip files I have no 3G or 2G data on my Relaince GSM card? Can anyone please help me with this? I am connecting with Reliance they are saying there is some issue in their network but I just want to be sure from my end if I am not doing anything wrong?
Also after flashing the 502 radio files my phone battery is going bonkers yesterday night from 77% it went to 0 on stand by. No phone usage at all. Checked the stats it's showing mobile radio used the battery for 7 hours.

OTA XT1562 Single SIM RETEU sytem version 23.21.10

Edit: link removed - File obsolete
1.) If you are rooted, completely unroot your phone via the SuperSU app.
2.) Copy the file to internal storage and rename it to "update.zip".
3.) If you do not have the stock recovery installed, grab a copy of the stock recovery here and flash it via fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or just boot it via fastboot
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
4.) Press power and volume up, when the lying android appears, select install update from sdcard, select update.zip, wait.
SuperSU 2.67 worked for me to root MM after the update.
Thanks, testing it now
:good:
Awesome, just installed it on my phone and it works beautifully! Thanks a bunch for the upload!
Official Version or Soak Test or....?
Thank you sir. Was waiting a long time for the Eu single sim version.
Is It an official version?
I flashed it on my stock motorola x play, the update was signed by motorola keys, so, yes it's the official eu marshmallow update.
but still no OTA, Motorola pls
Update took about an hour, but sweet. No microlags!
Sent from my XT1562 using Tapatalk
Running it now, sad to see that those small animation stutters are still in there =/
You can also sideload the package when choosing ''apply update from adb''
So people say no lags while other say they are still there. Can you please decide?
While I appreciate this and could use it. I would need to reflash my stock rom... If I were to do this surely it would make sense for me to just flash Indian version and enable dual sim. Seeing as Indian, Canadian and European all have the same build number?
I guess what I'm trying to say is... Should I convert my single sim to a dual sim?
Going to Mexico this year and would like to use my own sim and buy a local one too...
Just a heads up for anyone flashing the stock recovery. Mine was stuck at a screen that said No Command every time i booted to recovery, i tried all sorts of suggested key combos etc and here is what ACTUALLY works.
When you see the android with exclamation mark and "No Command" text all you need to do is hold power button for 5 secs or so...keep holding it and tap volume up once... Stock recovery will load.

Standard - all on the Motorola Moto X Play website. And Google. And everywhere. First thing to look for really when you are modding a phone. But...
Moto x Play is much faster now. Can't be compared with Lollipop performance.

Problem with Root/SuperSU
I followed your guide and successfully upgraded to Marshmallow - thanks.
However, when I tried to install SuperSU (2.67 Beta) via TWRP my phone stopped at the Boot Image. It won't get as far as starting the boot animation.
Fortunately I was able to restore my TWRP backup which was taken just before I installed SuperSU so no big deal.
Any ideas? Am I using the wrong version of SuperSu?

Cheers for that smart arse! Turns out i checked other results except for the moto site. The first two sites i read said about holding volume for 15 seconds then tapping power... Obviously wrong.
Easy enough mistake to make i ahve been into rooting, custom recovery etc since the HTC Tattoo came out...

Droid Mini/Ultra/Maxx SU6-7.7?

Just wondering if anyone has any insight on SU6-7.7 on the Droid line? Whether or not anyone know or hear anything about downgrading to a different SU version? I have the firmware file for the latest SU6-7.7 in case anyone wants it.

It would be nice if Motorola/Lenovo would let us do what we want with a phone they no longer "support".
Thanks, I was looking for this.

OK, since you asked...
On a Motorola phones that still have their stock, factory install intact, they do this clever thing where they cycle between a few different boot logo's, with slightly different colors in the Motorola logo on each boot.
Is there any way to replicate that after you're unlocked?

I believe that you can replace the stock boot logo with an unlocked or locked bootloader. There are a quite a few logos to choose from. When you pick one, you fastboot the image.
Oh, to answer your original question, SU6-7.7 appears to be the "terminal" KitKat release for the Droid Ultra/MAXX.
If you go to the Motorola web site you can get an earlier 2014 4.4.4 build, SU4.21 I think. I think that was the first 4.4.4, before any OTA's. This is why I was happy when you posted the more recent one.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
I've flashed both, they both seem to work just fine.
Did you have a more specific question?

I used the process on this page, and got zero errors:

To my knowledge, I don't think you can install custom roms once you install the latest SU update. Beings that you're on SU6-7.7 like me, there's not much you can do until someone comes out with another exploit.
Can I revert to su6-7 after having su6-7.7 update? I could do that after su6-7.3 update though.

Did you try downgrading directly from SU6-7.7 to SU6-7 or you went like SU6-7.7 to 7.3 to 7.2 to SU6-7?
Because for SU6-7.3 I downgraded one by one.

In case this helps anyone: I recently updated to SU6-7.7 from SU4.21 following the guidance in this thread and referenced resources on a XT1030 (Moto Mini). Initially I tried to get cute and only flashed the system image and modem upgrades; was rewarded with a bootloader loop that did not resolve after a full TWRP restore of the previous build. Next take including everything in the zip except boot.img and recovery.img as my device is unlocked and wasn't sure if flashing boot.img would relock the bootloader. Also wanted to maintain a true recovery. Everything worked fine except the WiFi radio which refused to engage (Bluetooth was ok). After a bit of fiddling dropped back to fastboot and flashed boot.img. Device restarted just fine with bootloader remaining unlocked. Whohoo! I should also note the all of the above was a 'dirty flash'. Never erased the userdata partition; all apps came back just fine. Oh yeah, had to reflash SuperSU but that's pretty standard after a system wipe.
Thanks to all the key contributors in this thread and elsewhere in the forum. After some miserable bootloops a couple years back (foolishly accepted VZW OTA) I froze the rom and vowed never to update it. It's nice to be running the terminal release of KitKat for this device which as several stability/usability features baked in along with the usual security updates (now dated but better than 2014!). I had considered CM 12.1 and CM 13 but needed fully hardware functionality that only seems to come with stock builds.
root successful

Dear i have successfully rooted mine droid mini su6-7.7 with kingo root (not global) v3.4 successfully now i have superuser app in system directory
---------- Post added at 05:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:20 AM ----------
Dear friends i have successfully root mini droid mini su6-7.7 with kingo root v3.4 (not kingo root global). actually i was trying to flash su4.21 over su6-7.7 with RSD lite v6.1 but failed with max get var and after that tried to flash with RSD lite 5.1 again failed without any error. after all of there method i thought of giving a try to kingo root. i downloaded 2 apps kingo root globalv4.9.7 and kingo root v3.4, kingo root global failed to root but.... kingo root v3.4 succeeded to roo. now i have superuser app in system driectory.
but problem is that after removing system app (amazon) when i restarted the phone all the apps came back and superuser app gone. i don't know why so my request to look into this method .
i have tested this method and worked 100% and i have no intention of making fun of me. i have both the apps but don't know how to upload here
Thanks
