How to enable Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 phone call ? - General Questions and Answers

Hi there,
I got a European version of Lenovo Yoga tab 3 android tablet (YT3-X50L). The Y3-X50L version compared to YT3-X50M version, does not have a phone call app and it meant to be restricted for surfing only even though it has a sim card slot.
I have changed its firmware to YT3-X50M to be able to use it as a normal phone. Here is the problem:
the phone can send and receive sms through the cell network but using it to phone call, the calls get disconnected immediately after dialling and no phone call comes in either.
It seems to me that there should be a way to activate/unlock the phone ability. Any help is appreciated.

AMIRBEKAM,
I've got a similar YT3-850L, with SIM slot intended for DATA, not PHONE. I'd wondered what would happen if I flashed with the "M" ROM. You SEEM to have answered that question. BUT, may I ask you a few questions, please?
1) Is your tablet ROOTED?
2) If YES, was that before or after the "M" ROM was flashed, or both?
3) Is your SIM card ACCOUNT VOICE as well as DATA ENABLED with your CARRIER? (In the US, at least, DATA and VOICE/DATA SIM cards are NOT interchangeable. So, if that's the case with your carrier, that MIGHT be the problem, or part of it).
4) What approach did you use to flash the "M" ROM
5) Where did you GET the "M" ROM
I put my VOICE/DATA SIM card in my YT3-850L, and it didn't work for DATA. T-Mobile said it SHOULDN'T work with data on my tablet, as it requires a DATA ONLY SIM account for a DATA-ONLY tablet. They're shipping me a SIM card which they say will allow DATA ONLY on my "L" Yoga tablet. We'll see you THAT works.
THANKS!

I have got yoga tap 3 8 and I m not getting phone call neither I am able to call calls get disconnect as soon as I dialed the number

[Q] anyone getting sim card does not allow connection to this network?

I have gotten this message 3 times in the last 5 days. Each time I need to do a reboot to restore cellular/sms service (toggling airplane, wifi, bluetooth, sync, and 4g do not restore cellular/sms). The phone has the same AT&T sim card since day 1 and I have never removed it.
Is this a faulty phone, sim card or both?

Did the sim come with the phone? ATRIX 2 needs newest of sim cards to function properly. If that's not the problem then I'm not to sure.

Yes, same sim card that came with phone.
Could be a faulty Sim, i've had that happen before with other phones, just go to at &t and show them the problem, they should replace it for you!

I wasn't able to solve this problem about an year. But did. And totally sure that it is Device's defect (in some cases it is a ROM deffect as in my case, in other - hardware. Smth like stack overflow issues at GSM controller or so). A year ago when I had face this "sim card does not allow connection... " problem, there are no google serch results on this keywords request. Any. To remove this message I was ought to reboot my device every time it appears. And I was thinking that it is normal behaviour for my device. But now there are lot of complainings at the web ( minimum 5 of Galaxy Tabs P1000, thousands of HTC Disire, few motorolla Deffy, 10 Galaxy Ace, few of Nexus S and so on), so I understand that I'm not alone, and problem is known. So I went to Samsungs Service and they confirmed that it is famous problem, have flashed my phone with some magic ROM (magic because it is official but does not available anywhere in the web, XDA or samsung sites! ) and now my phone works fine. Any other solutions like battery removing, *#*#4636#*#* sirvice menu, new sim-card, flashing variety of modems and roms, didn't helps me. This is not faulty sim. This is serious device's defect. Bring your phone to manufacturer and let them repair it or give your money back. This is their problem not your.
using old 3g prior sim card
With ATT---If you took your old 3g sim card out of old phone and used it. You will get this message. You need to activate the 4g card that came with phone

I have exactly the same issue randomly at times when I try to register on network manually (MTNL Dolphin 3G - Mumbai). Unrooted MB865 ver 2.3.6 & updated on 18th May 2012 to System Ver 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en03. If I keep the setting as Automatic in Type of Network & Operator it functions fine fluctuating between Dolphin for local access & CellOne on roaming access in the same area based on cell tower connection the phone registers on alternating between "E" & "H" automatically based on cell mast direction proximity, however if I select 3G only and uncheck automatic for operator then the phone searches for signal for a very long time and fails to show any operator saying "no connection available" & sometimes when "Dolphin" network does appear and try to select manually get the error as "this sim card does not allow connection to this network". I did complain with the service provider and they were supposed to get back to me after checking in their switchboard exchange where I also provided them my SIM number in addition to my cellphone number(no response). Also as is case with poor service of all Indian cell network providers even in urban cities, also face random peculiar issue of call not being received inspite of signal available on the phone & network asking me to recheck the number I have dialled while placing outgoing calls though it is ok and signal is sufficient. Also "Network Speed Booster" app looks like a lot of bull (any other good apps??)
I needed to know using the secret Menu *#*#4636#*#* for 3G GSM service which kind of network I should ideally select for best results & does this setting override the regular menu network settings??
I get "G", "E", "H" randomly based on my locations but no "3G" or "H+" and further at times these icons are grey and sometimes blue and in either cases randomly at different locations sometimes data throughput is not there as only one of the arrow shows active blinking. Any advise on the status based on colors and the blinking of the arrows?? Thanks!

[Q] 2 simcards 1 number

My network service provider gave me a second data only sim card for my nexus 7 3g tablet. So I have 2 simcards but only one number...
Before I got the 2. data only sim everything was OK with the voice+data sim in my SGS3 Mini, but after I installed the 2. data only card in my tablet sms and video calls are "routed" to my tablet. I want to permanently install the tablet in my car so I need sms, video calls and notifications on my phone. I tried to google and read somewhere that the network would use the sim registered last or most recently as primary simcard, so I tried to turn off my phone for a few minutes, but this doesn't seem to solve my issue. I use cyanogenmod11 on both my tablet and phone, so is there anyway to configure calls, sms and video to my phone instead of the tablet?
I tried to search my service providers knowledge base but didn't find any info regarding my extra data only simcard so I guess this is a new option.

My s6 is locked (UK)?

I purchased a S6 on EE a week ago. Has been working fine with an ee sim, however I have not made any calls or texts yet, just using the phone for Internet on wifi etc.
I have a regular three sim which I would like to use so I have trimmed it down with scissors and this made me cut part of the gold contact bit off (I read online this shouldnt affect the sim).
I'm guessing this phone is locked as when I insert the sim it detects a new sim has been inserted, it makes me restart too. Upon booting up however it says no sim card/ emergency calls only however I see a solid connection. I cannot make any calls as it says not registered to a network or something.
Now my question is that is the phone picking up the sim card? If yes why is it not prompting me with a sim unlock code screen? Secondly is my phone not detecting the sim card at all? Is that the reason why I am not prompted with a unlock code screen? All help is appreciated. Thank you.
Go onto settings, then onto Mobile Networks, then Network Operators, then Search Networks then click the Three carrier. It will take a few mins to search for all the networks so do not back out.

Hi!
The same thing happened to me, I couldn't send messages or call until I activated the automatic network mode, otherwise it wouldn't let me call.
I hope I have been helpful with this.

The same problem happened to me, i tried everything..
The only thing that fixed it is:
1. Insert a Sprint SIM card (in my case it came with the device when I baught it. I never had service from sprint and I lived overseas)
2. Select settings >> Network and Internet >> Network settings reset.
3. That is it!
Please note that this method only worked when I inserted Sprint Sim card, it did not work with my actual sim card..
After the settings were reset, I removed Sprint SIM, and inserted the other SIM, and it worked perfectly!

This worked once for me, then I had to remove my tray to insert an sd-card and didn't work anymore... network settings struggle to reset (will take 10-20s and then crash out) what could it be? I'm using a heicard and discussing the procedure in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlocking-lg-g8-sprint-bad-esn.4092771/page-2
UPDATE: if you still get the "SIM not provisioned for voice" message, do a backup, then full restore of the phone, then repeat the above steps. You should now be able to make phone calls, but not connect to LTE. Download an app called "AddAPN" from the play store and manually save the Access Point Name for your carrier (yours will be different from mine, but I'll add it as reference, it's in italian, but you should get the gist, relevant steps are 10 through 14: https://www.helpforsmartphone.com/coopvoce/it/lg/g6/android-8-0/guides/22/Configurare-Internet-LG-G6)
with my sprint lg v50 and i can "Add APN" already.
i dont need an app
@en11gma Are you on android 9 or 10,and what is your security patch level?
Thanks.

Question S23+ dual SIM problem, which USA firmware is compatible with Rogers

Setup: I have a technical question I am hoping y'all can help with. I am located in Canada and have the S23+ model SM-S916W. The ESIM is with Rogers for calls, texts, but no data, and the physical SIM is with FIDO for data. The software is updated, nothing else I can think of in that regards that needs updating, and I have Android 13 build TP1A.220624.014S916WVLU1AWBE.
Problem: On my SIM manager, it shows the physical SIM and the eSIM. I have the primary SIM set to Rogers. However, it does not give me the option of selecting which SIM is for what (e.g. which SIM receives calls, which receives texts, and which uses data) due to it being the crappy-nadian variant of the software (see photo 1 versus phot 2). I want to flash to firmware that allows me to select these settings so I can make proper use of dual SIMs.
Questions: I haven't flashed firmware since the Note 5 so it has been a while, but:
(1) Which US firmware is the most compatible with the Rogers network?
(2) Will I still get firmware/security updates?
(3) What are the other pros and cons asides from potentially bricking the phone?
Thanks!
