I have a galaxy s7 and am concerned after about 20 minute of light surfing ie no streaming or downloading the phone can reach temperatures of 39 degrees so it's very warm to touch......I have closed all apps in the background and wiped the cache but still get these temperatures......I have upgraded from my galaxy s6 edge but it never got this warm ??? Do I have a problem phone or is this normal for a s7 ??? Thanks for any replies.
It's normal. I bet you just have a new phone based on your description. I've been there. Let it settle. I also had this trouble when a random app was bugging in the background. Check for those man.

Using 4G my phone is really hot to the touch.. on wifi it is less.. i think it's normal
It's not hot anymore
When the phone was fresh and the battery was not optimized the phone heats up more, after the first few days of use I noticed the phone to me much cooler when just surfing even when just on LTE and not wifi. It does even warm up and still cool to touch after an hour of surfing for me.

I have the same issue while charging and using the phone or when I'm on 4G and using full display brightness. I think it's common.
My phone began to go insanely hot this mornig... drained about 20% in less than an hour until i realized something was up
I began to dig around, searching for rogue apps and did not find anything out of the ordinary
I then installed wake lock and the issue was an update i received (installed itself, i did not install it manually) for the "Oculus room" i think. Then i remembered i really did saw that notification but didn't pay too much attention to it, since i get it every other week and never had any trouble.
I then froze the app/package via titanium backup and... Yes, my phone kept going hot and wake lock kept telling me the same thing was disturbing the peace.
Went to TB and the app was defrost. I froze it one more time, and a couple minutes later, checked and it was defrost again... So, since i haven't been using my gear VR anymore, i froze all the things related to Oculus and problem solved

Hi. Its been a few days since my Nexus 5 battery has been drained pretty fast. Lasts only about 4 hours after fully charged with little use. Since I recently started working in a really poor reception area I figured that was the problem, my phone constantly trying to find a signal, but when I go to the details, I see that Instagram is responsible for using up 40% and it wasnt even running!
Im no developer, or even experiencied android user, but, how is this possible?

Welcome to android and app permissions. It's accessing a number of things on your phone with location probably being the number one. Get something like xposed and app ops to tame what the app is allowed to access. You should also get gsam or BBS to get a closer look at what is using your batery.
This happened to me last night with a messaging app I used to replace hangouts. It dropped about 12% overnight with data and WiFi all off.
I looked in battery use and messaging sucked most if it up. I cleared data in the messaging app and that fixed it. Later today I switched back to hangouts until I download another messaging app. I don't trust that one now.

Thanks for your reply. I'm guessing I need root for Xposed and those other apps ? Like I said I'm just an ex iPhone user who just converted to Android. So haven't given myself the time to tweak around.

you dont need xposed. looks like instagram had a stuck process or was stuck syncing. a reboot usually fixes that. there are other ways to fix things, other than installing xposed(as xposed could bring in its own issues). there are many apps out there that help, greenify being one of them. also, there are a few great apps to help you stop wakelocks that are out of control.
So yes I brought this phone 2 days ago for its battery life and this is what I'm getting

This isn't right surely my phone gets way too hot as well and I'm only browsing social media so far I'm really not impressed with this phone as my sms texts crash too and I can't delete conversation or it takes way too long to open a conversation.
In the first screenshot what is your screen time?

Probably not even an hour mate, it's ridiculous
Strange... Your phone came with Android 5.0.2 preinstalled? Now I see you're using 4g ... For example now I have 54% batterry with 2h 40 (music, web browsing on 3g+). I heard the Android 5 is a major battery drainer (especially if you re staying on 4g). Try to make a few full discharge/recharge cycles or try a hard reset.
For example I don't have a battery problem even that I'm running Android 5. But I've manually flashed it( from Android 4.4.4) . This is my usage for today:

Ahh I see well I'm running the 5.04 I think, I can't update the software so im presuming it is the latest one, and sync where would I find this? Sorry I'm new to androids. You see yours is on about 50% and you can still get 10hours+ mine is on 67% at the moment and it's saying it won't last another 4 hours. I think I'll let it run completely dead them put it on charge
Settings->Accouts-> and uncheck auto-sync data. And about battery predictions they are not so accurate,at least at the first 1-2 weeks... Trust me this is a great phone in matter of battery just give it time. With proper settings and medium usage(4 h 30m screen time) you can get something like this:
This is my usage data that I had 2 weeks ago . Medium usage, web browsing,fb and some pictures .
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Ah I see, that's the dream right there lol. This is the second day im using it, it's lasted longer then it did yesterday but it's nowhere near yours lol. I really hope it adjusts it's self by the end of the week.
Also do you find you're phone becomes warm to hot just browsing the Web?!
Depends... On chrome after 20-30 min but I also listen music and it's not that hot . Also it's summer and the screen stays almost at maximum light and that heats it up too .

I recently got one of this phones off ebay deal. So far the phone has been really good (after going to 5.1.1) other than the battery life which is super terrible. I leave for office at 8AM and by the time I am back around 6:30 in evening its already down to 8-9% with barely 1 hour of SOT. While using the phone I can clearly see battery going down by 1 percent every two minutes.
One of the other things I noticed is it takes a while to charge battery. Almost takes 4 hours to charge it.
Have done everything listed in various thread on XDA to fix battery drain but nothing is helping. To summarize I have
- Rooted my phone
- Disable AT&T enhanced 4G LTE
- Tweak setting with kernel auditor
- Disable ATT bloatware
- Install greenify and amplify
- Installed CF.Lumen to control brightness
Not sure what I am missing here now. Any help is appreciated from you guys.
Does the phone feel warm on the back when it's just sitting?
If so, you probably have a runaway app. You can check the battery section in options and see what's eating battery.
I had this a while ago on nexus 5 with the ebay app, the same also happened to a friend of mine with the same app.
hello, there.
i had the same problem, it seems that your phone is not going to deep sleep mode.
i fixed my problem with Nitro X, you can find it here on xda.
now i am very happy with my battery, for example now it says on battery for 2 days 15h 29min 22s and still 60% battery remaining.
hope this helps.

It only gets warm when playing some games. I will look at some of the apps as you suggested. Thanks,

Thanks. I am gonna give it a shot. I see they have 2 versions - X86 and Non-X86. which one should I flash? Also since flex 2 doesn't support any recovery (twrp etc) should I just flash it with Flashfire app?
hello kunalmalviya,
i downloaded the non x86 (=the arm version).
i do not know about flashfire, you should ask on the forum.
Please click the thanks! button if that helped.
PEACE.
Try reflashing latest software via LG Flash Tool.
I have no issue with battery life. It is slightly better than on LG G2 which is awesome. (3-4 hours SOT without any problems, no tweaks, no root, brigthness on 100%, Wi-Fi, NFC and LTE enabled all the time, Google Now enabled, Google Location Services enabled and lot of apps running in background).
Hello all! Recently got my Verizon Pixel and every time I put it in my pocket or use it, it randomly starts to warm up and gets uncomfortably hot. Is this supposed to be happening? Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

What apps do you have running, have you checked your battery stats and see what's running that could be causing this? Do you perhaps have a bad signal in your area?

I do not believe that it is any one app or background process causing this since the battery stats say that the Android system is what mostly drains the battery (along with the screen). In terms of signal, I do have somewhat weak connection here and there at the University. However when I go off campus, it also begins to get quite warm in the pocket.
I have quite the opposite. In fact, I've been crazy impressed with the lack of warmth during intense operations.

I've been having that same issue. I have the smaller Pixel. Usually rebooting seems to fixed whatever it is. But it's still a little disconcerting.
I have had another model of a smartphone couple of years ago and there were the reports of this phone getting hot when it was in the pocket. It turned out to be some sort of a health app that was running and sensors were active measuring stuff. Few other users chimed in confirming the issue, but my phone(same model as theirs) didn't have that issue. It was because after getting the phone, I disable all the app that I am not interested in. I believe it was a Samsung model, possibly their Galaxy line.
Hey guys in the past week my XZ has been having some serious overheating issues. Even just idling at the home screen it sits at around 40-45c. It seriously makes the phone unusable since when you open anything it just warms up quick and throttles hard. I was thinking it was the last patch that came out so I unlocked the bootloader and tried out a couple of roms like carbon rom which was buggy as hell and slimbit aosp. No improvement. Tried out eXistenZ 6.0 which is what im still on now and no improvement. I honestly have no clue whats going on if anyone can help me that'd be great. Do you guys think my battery could be needing replacement? The phone isint even a year old. I have also tried the FSCv2 mod and still no improvement.

Change habit that after clean flash instantly install everything that exists in the playstore , especially various CPU/memory/battery monitors.
Install one aplication at a time until you find the problem.
btw, carbonrom Is excellent rom like all the other AOSP ROMs for the XZ

I don't think its a certain app I installed since it just started happening out of nowhere after no new apps have been installed. Android battery menu doesn't show any excessive battery drain from apps either. Even after I did a clean flash it was getting super hot and throttled in the setup process.
*Edit* It actually got to 50c while simply replying to your reply in Chrome and lagged tf out of my keyboard. Literally about to throw this phone at a wall.
So I've undervolted the cpu and the phone still reached 53c after browsing Instagram for about a couple minutes. Im seriously loosing my **** at this point. Im seriously thinking that this phone needs a new battery or something even tho its less than a year old.
Update. Did a fresh install of stock rom using flashtool and it throttled during the setup process and still throttles with no apps just trying to send a text message or simply play a song using google play music. Seriously nobody has a clue what is going on? I literally have to have my phone next to a fan just to do anything on it.
I discovered that my battery is only at 38c usualy so I think its safe to say that my battery is okay. My cpu is constantly pinned at 45+ and I only get about 3-4 hours out of a full charge. Did google play services get an update or something? I have no apps installed in my phone still. I seriously need any help
