Can I get WiFi calling if I have G930U on Tmo? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

(Sorry, I should've posted this in the Q&A forum)
I have a G930A and from what I've read, I can either go with G930U or G930T.
A clean phone with the U is definitely tempting but I need WiFi calling (bad cell signal at work). The T is safer but I'll be living with Tmo bloat, and I also understand this is (for now) a 1-way upgrade because of bootloader versions.
If anyone here has the G930U on Tmo, can you confirm whether WiFi calling works or not?
Thanks!

Just as FYI, I am on the SM-G930FD (dual SIM international) , rooted and unlocked, with custom ROM and a CSC tweak (both are fron the XDA forum) , on T-Mobile USA with working (actually tested and made calls) Wi-Fi Calling.
ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/fastupdates-ontheedgelite-ux-v1-t3401422 , Thanks to @angelo27093
CSC : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392949 , Thanks to @Tkkg1994
So if you think of buying S7, you can seriously consider the 930F/D or 935F/D models.
I recently switched from AT&T to T-Mobile for their North America coverage plus 140 countries my US number works, and on the 2nd SIM I keep a local SIM (prepaid) of the country I am at for LTE data. Works like a charm.

B12 is supported by the phone, and T-Mobile US uses it for VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.

Got an SM-G930U the other day and I can confirm that WiFi calling and VoLTE work right out of the box as soon you put in a T-Mobile SIM card.

Darn! I should've waited. I went with 930T just to be safe.
I guess I'll wait for 930U to come with bootloaded v3 and try again.
Thanks for confirming!

Galaxy S7 duos 4g/lte mhz???

Hi everybody.
I'm from Italy. In Italy we haven't got galaxy s7 in dual sim version, but i need it.
I can buy it outside Europe, through e-commerce. The problem is that the seller doesn't know the precise code of the model, he only knows that is dual sim and sim free. I would to know if there are different models of galaxy s7 duos sim free, and what are the 4g/lte frequency, to understand if it's compatible with italian sim operators.
Thank you.

There are 2 that i know of.
SM-G930FD - This is the "European" model, u can install Single Sim ROM and Dual sim will work ( faster updates from samsung )
SM-G9300 - Chinese / Vietnam version , no Google Play and some Chinese apps .
About bands, read on those 2 pages
Thank you a lot.
We waiting for other utents if they know other versions.
A question: what means "u can install Single Sim ROM and Dual sim will work"? Is it necessary to change ROM to use the telephone?

No, i just did it because mine came with CSC for Nigeria. I choose an rom for XEU ( UK/Ireland Unbranded ) because they receive updates faster then others, and is closer to me then Nigeria ^^
ok, i understand.
Is this procedure invalidate warranty?

International S7, T-Mobile's wifi calling and VOLTE, and custom ROMs

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying the S7 and (thanks to this forum) have researched the (T-mobile) "carrier" version with SnapDragon processor vs. the International non-carrier version with Exynos processor. Seems like the latter is generally preferred, with 2 drawbacks:
1) Not compatible with T-Mobile's wifi calling;
2) No VOLTE
My only remaining questions are:
1) It seems as though with most unlocked / non-carrier smartphone models, custom ROMs are usually made available that enable carrier-specific features, but it seems like no such ROMs have yet been developed and widely circulated to enable T-Mobile's wifi calling or VOLTE. Is it typically just a matter of WHEN, rather than IF, such ROMs usually get into circulation? IOW, even though I'll be without those features on the Exynos S7 for now, can I buy the phone with confidence that in the not too distant future there SHOULD be a ROM to enable these? (Wifi calling is actually rather important to me since my gf's apt is a dead zone.)
2) Can someone ELI5 VOLTE to me? I'm still note entirely sure what it is / does, and want to evaluate how much I should care if my Exynos S7 doesn't support this...
Exynos does support volte. I am using it and it works fine.

Would you mind explaining how you got it working? Did you have to do anything other than change your CSC? I changed my CSC to T-Mobile US and I now have the option to enable wifi calling, however when I turn it on it just hangs there saying 'Enabling'.

That is really all I did. Install n7 rom then change CSC to TMB.

Yep that's what I used. I did a clean install of the SuperMan rom and used CSC changer again...same issue, it hangs at Enabling. Even went back to stock rom and it does the same thing.
Finally, I installed the Note 7 OnTheEdge rom like you said and it appears to be working, I now see the wifi calling notification at the top left and I get the volte icon when i'm not connected to wifi. I wonder if anyone has been able to get it to work on other roms?

I've only tried it on n7rom mentioned above. Guess it has to do with the rom since not working in Superman rom.

It works now. I do super man rom. Search that thread how to do it. You have to flash zto csc then boot then flash TMB csc. Then Switch a couple toggles.

Mintsim T-mobile S7 compatibility

My wife has a Verizon version of the S7, but our service just ended and she bought the Mintsim 12 month sim card today. From what I understand there was ONE version of the S7 made - that the software itself is what makes the phone activate the proper service antenna's. Since there is so many misleading topics - I wanted a definitive answer, can ANY S7 be activated on any service? If not which version of the S7 is the better version to work with? The Mintsim service uses T-mobile from what I understand, so if a verizon S7 doesnt work should I get the T-Mobile varient (it is the more expensive of the used versions on Swappa oddly) or ATT or?
You can flash any to the T-Mobile version for best results, or just flash the 930u firmware and have all bands.

Sounds good. If you decide to want it as a T-Mobile version all you need to do is flash that firmware in Odin.

Use Firmware Of A Different Model

Hi,
I have a S8+ with the model SM-G955FD and was wondering if I am able to download the firmware for the model SM-G955F?
The phone was purchased outside of Australia and doesn't use the Australian (Telstra) firmware that I would like it to. I just figured they are the same phone just different model numbers so there shouldn't be any issues right? I might just lose a couple features or something but the phone should work correctly?
Thanks in advance.
Yea, the G955FD is the dual SIM Exynos variant, right?
I'm sure the dual SIM uses the same firmware as the single SIM, so you should have no worries flashing Aussie firmware.
But I would suggest you flash the XSA (Aussie unbranded) firmware, not Telstra firmware. You'll lose nothing, but you'll get faster updates.

Here's the XSA (Australia) firmware:

Flash it. Doesn't matter if your device is G955F or FD, the ROMs are exactly the same.
Does the method works with G955J SCV35 model? I'm running NTDocomo firmware on KDDI model to unlock network (single SIM) . I wan't to flash unlocked U firmware but getting scared that the phone will be bricked.

Galaxy A8 VoLTE and VoWiFi features on the USA T-Mobile network

Folks,
I have Galaxy A8 UAE version in the USA with MNVO SIM-card which is working on T-Mobile network. Of course VoLTE and VoWiFi features are unavailable on my A8 because it has wrong CSC (which is XSG). As I understand I need to change CSC code to add the features to my phone. But... as Galaxy A8 is not released in the USA there are no A8 ROM with CSC appliacble for the US. I'm wondering if there are any other ways to change CSC to one which will work with T-Mobile VoLTE (my previous Nokia 6 US-version had both features working fine with the same MNVO SIM). Could someone help me with that?
Follow the directions it works
Unfortunately this has stopped working.
