If it flashed and booted up, it's not a bad download.
Can you put up some Screenies that show your stats... baseband, kernel, build, etc.... Might shed some light on the process. My first attempt was a dirty flash, with no wiping, haha..can never remember if it's back to front or front to back... didn't work out so well. I bricked mine as well but probably differently than you. If like nothing more than a safe way to flash this since my new s7 is sitting in the box waiting for the next update. Seriously not trying to sound like a d**k of it came out that way, been drinking

I already flashed back to 935U but I did it 3 times yesterday. First time I did it exactly as stated on here. Do the root and what not without wiping and I kept my apps but it caused problems. So I tried it once more this time without wiping anything besides my apps and it worked but laggy. Then finally I tried again but this time fully wiped and it took forever to boot up (around 40mins) then finally it booted but no service. It did show some signal bars but as soon as I tried to call it would drop.
I followed this guide with rooting stock rom and going to echoe but got a stuck preboot screen. Odin'ed back to stock afterward.
Tried it again because I am anxious to get this working but it failed again.
This guide is not helpful. I did flashfire no wipe, echoe (no wipe, stock framework, sprint) and it did not work. Do I start with U firmware and root that?
I am sorry for the late response. I guess i got lucky then . but its basically just a theme being on how the modded UI doesnt work. I will Work On Screenshots and a better guide today. Going to wipe my phone right now and start fresh.
@Jonn9211Do you remember at what point you bricked your phone? It might be helpful to others. For what it's worth mine came from a full flashfire restore of a sprint backup while on the latest tmo firmware. Screen went black in the middle of process and never returned. RIP

Hey everybody I finally figured out how to fix the line 5 boot error that I myself had and a lot of other people are experiencing while trying to flash some roms. I was experiencing this problem for about a month while trying to flash ava v7 and v8. What bothered me the most is I could flash fresh rom. So I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. Then right when I was going to give up I thought to myself what do I got to lose let me start from scratch and see what happens. So I unrooted using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141 after I unrooted I upgraded to the new ota getting the new pri 1.77. After that was completed I rooted my phone using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776477 and when that was complete I booted into recovery wiped everything and flashed ava v8 which was giving me the same line 5 boot error everytime before and it WORKED!!! It worked for me and several other people so far hope it works for you. I would also like to say thanks to ava for making such a great rom it really is awsome.
Why does this work?
Also why is ava so bad at making zips but not fresh... and lastly why does ava not do something about it....?

I don't know why it works it just does. I'm not a dev I'm just a regular guy who tries a lot of different things and found this out so I thought I should share it. As far as ava making bad zip files I wouldn't talk bad about one of or devs who work so hard on their own time to make us roms for free.

u dont really need to go over and do this whole thing... its just something in the update script that was probably off.
im assuming u dont know how to look at the update-script and such... thats why the whole long way of doing what u did... but hey... im happy u got it to work for u.
next time u might wanna try looking at the script in the zip file and maybe edit it a little your self and resign the zip... it not so hard to do, but i guess if u not sure how than your way would probably be ok.

ouch so harsh. i use the same thing fresh does. its all about the size and the script. i never used clockwork so to be sure that it would work on the recovery i changed things. this caused some issues.
I am doing something about this but its hard when i dont get the error and people that do get the error, report it fixed with V8 and some dont.
also i learned everything from flipz so its hard to surpass the master
ill be releasing a fix tonight along with some other things im sure you and everyone will enjoy

I figured there was a better way I will look into doing it this way I'm just not familiar with editing scripts so I have to do a little research on it but thank you for your input. The way I did it was probably long and could be shorter but it its still a good way for someone who isn't familiar with scripts.
I used the file at this link and my problem was solved. I was an un revoked user... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752832 this doesn't require any data loss so maybe try before going through the whole hoopla of a un-root followed by re-root. Just my .02¢

I didn't root via UnrEVOked and I had the Line 5 error as well... while unrooting & re-rooting may take a while, it's the only thing that has worked for me to fix the LINE 5 error on the AVA8 install. Being that i'm not a dev, I don't know what AVA could or couldn't have done wrong with the ROM, but the problem with the install was not affecting everyone, and those that it did affect achieved root through different methods. So thank you AssAssin for figuring out a workaround, however rudimentary it may be.

Has there been a fix for the Line 5 error added to V8 yet?
I'd say no since I'm getting the line 5 error now. I even switched to amon-ra but i'm still getting it.
When you get the line 5 boot error it doesn't matter how many times you switch back and forth from amon ra or clockwork or wipe or do whatever you are still going to get it. I tried all of that even turn sign on and off and nothing the only way that I managed to get past it and flash the rom I wanted (ava v8) was to do what I explianed in the op. Hope it works for you too.
im new at this please bear with me.
i rooted my shift last week. everything was fine, im not ready to get too crazy into flashing stuff yet (since the risk for bricking is higher with android). i like to take my time read, study, test small things here and there.
today i was browsing the forums and came across the battery icon mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297
so i downloaded it, i had rom manager installed, and installed the battery icon manager.
i chose the icon i wanted rebooted, it looked ok, so i wanted to try the other icon and loaded that one, phone rebooted and got stuck on the sprint splash screen.
i can boot into the bootloader, not sure what steps i need to take next to restore my os.

once you're in bootloader, select recovery, then backup restore. Then restore. Then restore your backup that we're all sure you made before you made those mods right? RIIIIIGHT?????
You have to get to boot loader to get to recovery to wipe and flash your rom... (hold vol down and press power) in case you didn't know..you should being that its rooted..I dunno

Boot in to CWM Recovery go to backup/restore /advanced restore, select restore /system only. Once that is complete clear the cache, reboot. you can then delete your dalvik cache (note: clearing the dalvik cache doesn't work via CWM currently). That's it.
If you didn't make a back up, just re flash the rom. If you were still stock, just flash preludedrew's or nfinitefx's base. You can even still keep your data. Just make sure from now on to back up before doing any mods.

Just rooted my new SGS3 using New Root Method Released for Verizon’s Galaxy S3, No Odin Required. i did the data & kelvic wipe then install Clean Rom 5.0. All progressed without a hitch. Even backed up with CWM prior to flash.
I rebooted into the new rom and got this: System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless... rebooted several time with same result.
What can I do now? Thanks for your help.
Just a wild guess, but me thinks your bootloader is still locked! But I'm not sure that will even apply because I rooted my device before unlocking the bootloader. But I rooted my device via ODIN first.
You can try EZ-Unlock via the Market. The GUI is still very buggy and will show the status as unknown but the internal workings of the app works good.
You got nothin to loose in trying. Go back to stock and give it another whirl after you've unlocked the bootloader.
Of that fails then I would suggest using the tried and true method..ODIN.
G'luck!
yup your bootloader is still locked
check the downloads thread and use version 1.2.
That means your boatloader is locked. You now must Odin back to stock and start over. Droid style has a guide stickied in the development thread. Follow section 6 of it.
Next time use ez unlock version 1.2 to unlock you boatloader.

Hi, I have a Verizon S3 flashed to Boost Mobile. I tried to gain root by flashing a stock rooted Rom and messed up the flash. I had to take it back to be flashed again Now I'm more cautious before hand. I should have backed it up before attempting it, I know I know lol can anyone shed some light on how to update a flashed phone as well as how to root it. I could really use the help
Also after I messed up the boost flash I paniced and flashed a sprint kernel hoping this would fix the problem. Since then anything that I've tried to view including taking camera shots and web browsing if done in landscape mode will be upside down, any remedy for this problem? I know now... root first, flash later.

Hi, I have a Verizon S3 flashed to Boost Mobile. I tried to gain root by flashing a stock rooted Rom and messed up the flash. I had to take it back to be flashed again Now I'm more cautious before hand. Sprint kernel is causing the inversion. Flash a vzw kernel. Read first flash later.

Hello,
I'm truly hoping someone can help me. I spent all night installing new roms on my phone. Ok let me back up. This is bout the tenth phone I've rooted. I rooted my blaze about 2 months ago using a one step(I think can't remember.) I never really installed a custom Rom until last night. The first Rom I installed was cm10, which I liked. Only problem was I couldn't mount my sd card because I am no where near a computer. So I decided to install the baked Rom. I was ecstatic to find that everything worked. However, the cm10 Rom seemed to be running at the same time. I found that very weird. So I tried to figure out a way to get the cm10 off my phone. For hours I tried wiping and reformatting different things from recovery. My problem is the last time I rebooted my blaze out wouldn't go past the Samsung screen. I've tried all combos of the volume up down and power key and it never goes past Samsung. I'm assuming I've bricked my. It will show the battery charging screen. 1st it'll show the stock screen then the baked screen for charging. Please help me. I've searched xda for help and can't find anything to help.
Ps. I'm not at a computer now but please list help for when I'm able to get to one. And yes I've only gotten about 3hrs of sleep in the last 20hrs from messing with my phone.
Sorry for posting in development first meant to post here.
Odin to stock uvlh5. From sammobile.com/firmware
Edited... because I speak without thinking
^ what he means is download the stock ICS ulvh5 firmware from sammobile.com/firmware for the blaze/sgh-t769 and flash it on Odin.

Glad to hear that
Tried getting help. I recently tried a fresh install of cm13. When it booted up it searched for a network. Went to network settings and let it look for a network. Found sprint and said it was trying to connect or register. Now I'm only getting schity 3g data sometime. No 4g. Almost seems like its not using the sim card. Tried booting up without it and it was still working?
Edit: using the g900p for sprint
Someone please help. All is appreciated

it was the 6-27-16 nightly build. had a few little issues and tried a clean install. when it booted, it couldnt find a provider i guess so i went to settings-cell networks and tried to search. it found sprint, under network operators, tried to connect and couldnt. just sat forever saying registering. also its working the same with or without a sim card. i thought it should be using the sim card for the 4g?

If you're that desperate go back to a stock rom. Your sprint network will work. Then when you have time play with other roms.
i have tried to go back to stock through recovery and doesnt work. im on ok4. do i need to odin that?
ive tried stock ok4 and its stuck at the booting screen with samsung. is there a one click thing for this?

Use Odin to go back to complete stock. That should fix this issue. If you should then wish to do so take the OTA to MM. After you do that make a backup in TWRP that way if you screw up you can restore a full backup in minutes. I have trouble getting everything to work on the other custom roms as well. That's why you keep a good copy of a backup to restore in twrp just in case. Anway, get odin and flash the stock 0K4 tar through that, it will fix you.

Okay so you tried to Odin flash that OK4 tar? That should have worked. Do you have the 4g lte sim card? I bought my s5 used and it wouldn't connect to lte until I got my sim in the mail. Otherwise I have no clue. Did you follow those instructions exactly and make sure you wiped your phone completely before taking the tar file?

Hmm. Beyond trying to download the tar again I have no ideas. If it's pretty new maybe take it in?
Its not new anymore. Had it for like a year and a half. They won't touch my phone with custom stuff though....

What did you do to resolve this??
was it connecting to LTE before? if not then you might be best served getting a new sim from sprint, but if it was working before then id get a fresh tar.md5 and flash it in Odin. Here is the place ive been getting my tarballs from as of late. The server seems to be pretty fast and i can attest to the tar.md5s working quite well.
