Note 7 Secure Folder on Note 5???? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

For the brief time I had my Note 7 I appreciated the heightened security of the Secure Folder on the Note 7. I really liked being able to place my banking and finance apps in a place not as easily reached on my phone.
Is there any rumor that Samsung will add this feature to the upcoming Nougat release for the Note 5? If not, is there an app that accomplishes a similar result.

No not possible, cus Knox will be tripped. Let's pray Samsung give it to us in 7.0

Will we ever get android 4.4 update?

Do you guys think that we will ever get android 4.4? I read somewhere online they confirmed the list of Samsung's devices that will get 4.4 but unfortunately, our device isn't on the list. I saw tab 2 and tab 3 but not the note 10.1. If Samsung leave us behind, i totally wont buy any tablet from samsung again.
Doubt it.
4.3
I'd be happy to get 4.3 and the new SNOTE3 app.
I'm wondering if you searched these threads before asking if/when we will see an update.
-----
Tips for a pleasant XDA:
Search before asking. Someone has likely already asked.
Spell your words completely, and use punctuation. It confuses people when you use "u" and "ur" and "dat", or when you wrongly use "there/their/they're/your/you're".
Be nice. Don't be rude, just move on to another post without leaving a comment. We are not 7 years old.
And PLEASE, do not ask for the "best" anything. We all have our preferences.
well Samsung will no more continue android software update support of Galaxy note 10.1 as it released a new version of note 10.1 so the updates will be launched for the brand new note 10.1, there is no reason to waste time on note old one any more
it was how the world roles since mankind!
they support older products pretty decently compared to other companies
just be prepared to wait
take the galaxy s2 for example
shipped with 2.3 but its current update is 4.1.2

You can share your user created notes..
First go to the folder where snote puts the created notes. Create a folder in there . Call it say personal notes. Do this on both devices..
Then use any number of sync apps or accounts like box or something from device to device..
What i use.
I own a HOME Server.. Synology disk station.. On my Disk station There is a app. on android called ds cloud.. I have it to sync the snot/ my note (directory i created as above). to sync to my home cloud server. I do this on both our note 10.1 devices and on my note 2 phone..
You can use this method with any apps data actually.. i sync notes and gallery content to name a few..
Good Luck..

Problem solved
no need of firmware update!! lol
My opinion is yes but probably not for a long while...the att note 1 finally got jelly bean. My opinion is a new product line of Sammy get left behind faster than the successors. In any case really hoping Google makes an app journal that supports wacam. Probably note going to happen unless they release a Google edition note 3
I am running kit kat 4.4. on my note 2000

Sorry i didnt say it clear enough. SNote in GN3 uses a new file extension and it is incompatible with other Notes. Note 2 is getting A4.3 and also the new Snote with the new file extension. If Note 10.1 isnt updated, it will be out of this serie. Now Note 10/8/2 can share SNote files, but not with Note 3. Note 2 is getting an update. Then Note 2 and Note 3 can share SNote files together, but not with 10/8... Ridiculous, isnt it?
Samsung said "Share Snote files in pdf format." That is like saying "share your doc as pdf" :banghead:

AWWW.. Now i understand.. That is totally Dump... I would not be able to update my note 2 or note 10.1 unless noth s- note apps got updated together.. Because i use the s-note files on both. Maybe its time to Ditch s-note grrr.
Samsung should make s-note compatible with other standard office programs. NO CONVERTING Needed..
This Standardized file stuff is the reason MS Will eventually Rule the tablet world. Just my guess.Same os same file format across all ms devices... Makes me really Not so happy
I would love to get Multi user mode and immersion mode from kit-kat or get version 5.0 when it gets out!
I think it is long overdue.
Hell the smartphones GN2 and S3 are getting 4.3 updates...so i suppose we have to first wait for GN 10.1 2014 to be available and hopefully sometime later we'll get Kit kat too.
We're getting 5. 0, not Kitkat

Devices could change, but I doubt they will not update the Note 10.1 2012 to 5.0. We could just wait longer for 5.0 and we'll get something more advanced in the long run.
Anyways if you want updates, just root and go to the 4.3 customs until 5.0 rolls around and you'll be fine.

for N8010 it is strange that no leak appeared yet...usualy leaks appear...
anyone has inside informations about leaks for n8010?
Well, to be honest... I think the list was made quickly after everyone else made their list about updating their devices to KitKat. So I quess, it was a panic reaction to name some "old" devices to get kitkat to prevent crucifying them totally. Im not surprised at all if they havent yet done anything but now forced to do. But be positive! They can surprise you!
1. They have been doing those os upgrades so secrectly that no info has leaked out. But why not telling it and keep customers happy?
2. They became panic after htc/sony/lgs lists and responded by giving some sort of list. Now we need to wait that they actually do something too.
We know that Samsung doesnt offer very much info about os upgrades, but they still seem to leak out somehow. This was propably the first time they gave us a clear list. But after others... Im only wondering do they really have anything to offer yet...

What do I lose by rooting and/or custom ROM

Hi, newbie here.
I'd love to root my Galaxy S7 (SM-G930FD) and maybe even install a new ROM. However, I'm concerned about losing some nice features of the phone.
At first thought, three key features that I like are: Samsung Pay, device encryption, and Samsung's encrypted folder. (For my line of work, I have to be very very security conscious, so device encryption is important.)
Also, along the lines of security, any recommendations for the most secure OS for the S7 phone, and possibly a firewall to manage net traffic?
Thanks!
Adding small reply to my own post.
Looks like rooting will permanently disable Samsung pay. But, looks like Google Pay should still work. (If your bank supports it.)
Looks like TW bootloader can't handle whole-phone encryption, so that's a loss of a major security tool.
But still nothing like loosing some camera features as with some Sonys?
I've rooted my s7 from the start and since I am enjoying full camera support, can even use snapchat (though under Parrallel space, so it's not obvious)
Don't use and will never use Samsung Pay (It's not working here in The Netherlands anyhow) and all other banking apps I use do work.

Any Note 3 user who upgraded to S7?

Hi,
I need help regarding the multiwindow feature in Note 3 vs the one on S7. I liked how while on Facebook if I opened an external link it would automatically open in multiwindow(chrome+facebook) etc. which i really liked. However this feature is missing on S7. Is there a way I could get it?

Hello everyone!
I decided to make a thread, where we can discuss the upcoming update for our lovely device Galaxy S9+. Maybe it's too early for this discussion, or not? I hope the moderators don't mind... I'm very excited about the update and a little bit frustrated that we will not get the beta first. I may upgrade to Note 10+, but I'm not yet sure, because I love too much my S9+ - the design, the screen, feels like everything is perfect though. Only miss the wide-angle camera

Breaking: Samsung Galaxy S9 Android 10 update released!
Samsung has released the Android 10 update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The update is rolling out in Germany at the moment for those who are on Android Pie. Yes, the final build of Android 10 is yet to be released for those who are on the One UI 2.0 beta, though that is probably going to change soon.

From where to download the stock firmware
I see people still asking from where to download it, since @sammobile[/user] need premium acc for faster download. There are a few alternatives that are very easy to use and I thought everyone Samsung fan knows them but it seems I was wrong. Gonna share them here.
1. Updato.com
This is for people who don't want to install any additional software. However, seems full of ads. If that doesn't bother you, use it.
2. SamFirm 0.3.6
It's deprecated but still working though.
3. Frija
This is the most updated with very nice interface. I would recommend it.

Notes, related to the beta builds:
1. I think it was a mention somewhere but will write it here also. Both files are in .bin format. You need to rename them in update .zip so you can flash them through stock recovery.
2. You can't flash it directly if you are rooted, need to be completely sock - this includes the stock recovery. Also, you should be on this firmware G965FXXU7CSK1/G965FOXM7CSJ5/G965FXXU7CSJ5/G965FXXU7CSK1. When new beta's come out you will need to flash them as the way they came out, like beta1->beta2 and etc.
3. The USA and Korean builds are not compatible with the rest models. Be careful what you flash on your device. By the tip to remove them to not lead to confusion, I will separate them below in the spoiler. The authors of the files can feel free to make a new thread about the specific device.

Notes, related to Android 10:
You can't install any more custom fonts on Android 10 unless you are rooted.
Check the Galaxy store for your favorite font. If it's there you can buy it and use it.
Swift Installer, Substratum doesn't work anymore on S9/ S9+ like before.
You need will the Synergy. However for me isn't working at all, so basically I can't use any substratum theme or mod. On the other hand Hex Installer works very well and I will recommend it.
Blocking ads with DNS still working.
Technically, there is no reason to not be able to receive OTA, after flashing stable DBT version with Odin. Just make sure you don't use CSC (use HOME_CSC instead) file to wipe everything and break something with your current CSC. I personally flashed CSC file by mistake, my CSC didn't change it but now I can't receive OTA. No big deal for me will flash it manually when there is a new update.
OTA files won't wipe anything. Some user reports that his phone is wiped after OTA, but this usually is impossible. A good idea is always to make a backup with Smart Switch before any procedure of this kind.

Yes, ROOT is possible on Android 10. Check THIS thread to see the steps for rooting.
I'll stick with my s9+ Exynos Oreo bc it runs perfectly. Smooth. No issues. Just an amazing reliable phone with idan GCam 3.5. What could be so good with android 10 that it's worth upgrading?

I regret having gone on foot
The battery drains very fast, 4 hours of SOT when I go for a 20% battery.
The front camera for some reason overexposes the photos, does not take them as in the preview
I use Gcam, if with that software it is possible to take incredible photos having this fabulous lens, I do not understand how it is possible that Samsung does not take advantage of it by developing a good camera application
I haven't seen anything in Android 10 that would make me want to update as soon as possible. What are you looking forward to? TBH I'd be happy in Oreo lol
lol guys, didn't expect those answers, to be honest I personally, like to stay up to date, trying new stuff, new features. I really enjoyed the android 9 update with OneUI. At the moment, I don't really remember what we can expect in Android 10. But probably would have some nice features. I just hope the battery life to not be worst than now.
Actually we already have some stuff, like the dark mode. So there's wont be much in Android 10 I guess for us. I am more curious what OneUI 2.0 will be. Probably not much changes in visual, but will come with more extras and options for personalizations I think.
I also have UK sim card, so I probably will try to join in the beta program when it's open.
PS
So, It's kinda official.
Samsung has OFFICIALLY started Q Beta builds. I 100% expect a beta program in the next 2 weeks, as

Speed. There's evidence for better performance on android 10 compared to 9 or 8
I think it will be a sad day when Android 10 comes to the S9+ because it means the end of support from Samsung. Only 2 years of firmware updates is pathetic especially for a flagship phone Samsung should be more like apple and look after their customers better.
Agreed with you. I feel sad about S8 and Note 8. Such awesome flagships to be left without support...
In theory, the S9/S9+ line had a better chance of getting an extra year of support because of Treble. We all had hoped that with Treble, Samsung would update their phones faster and for more time. But, doesn't seem like Samsung's announced anything that would change what they've been doing up to now. Seems like we'll only be getting 2 years of updates for this phone too. BUT, the slight 1% possibility is still there that we may go beyond that.
My Pixel 2 was update to Android 10. It's more smoothly and the battery life is increased. I feel it!
When first try android 10 on my pixel, Oh man..
How can be my pixel 2 (2017) is more better than my S9+ (2018) even it's 1 years old than the S9+.. LOL
Better in camera, battery life, background apps management, notification management, etc

Well, the answer of why it is better in these aspects only lies in the fact that they are Google's own devices and therefore its software is optimized to the maximum for that team
Android is for the Pixel what is ios for the iphone

Hi brandox,
Yeah, Agreed with you..
But, it's android and it's open sources right?
I think samsung is able to make it more smooth like on pixel devices, it might be they just push more stuff to get different of their devices, and still finding how to make it smooth.
I really like my s9+ the hands on, design, display, except the UI and UX..
It will be better, if they just put an vanilla android, focus to just a camera software, tweaking background task, and security.
just my 2cents..
Have a nice day!

Yep, it's open source. The version given to manufacturers is alone basic without many optimizations, it is already in the hands of the manufacturer what make to do with that system (They could do a better job, but since developers don't get paid enough).
If you're right. Samsung should take care of adjusting only really important applications.
To be fair, if you install AOSP on any Samsung device it will run like butter. It's just that Samsung likes to add too much stuff on their skins (some good, some bad)
Good news guys!
Samsung also started testing Android 10 for Galaxy S9/S9+! The firmware version is G960FXXU7DSI3 and G965FXXU7DSI3. Of course, first in the line will be S10, but that's a good sign, we won't wait much for it <3
Well, it seems the Korean company is not sitting still here either. As the guys at GalaxyClub now confirm, both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are currently being tested with Google’s latest. Firmware versions G960FXXU7DSI3 and G965FXXU7DSI3 are based on Android 10, as evidenced by the letter ‘D’ which represents the next Android version. Current Android 9-based firmware have a ‘C’ in that same position, after all.
Of course, the Galaxy S9 will simply not be the first Samsung device to get the upgrade. The Galaxy S10 and Note 10 will be upgraded first, logically. We do expect their Android 10 beta to start soon, but that program will need to finish before anything else happens. And even after all that, there is a good chance the Galaxy S9 will first have to go through a beta test of its own, just like the Galaxy S8 did last year before widely receiving Android Pie.

Bought the S9+ with Android Oreo. Was working all fine until some idiot at google decided to link the notification badge count to the notification bar - so from that point, whenever I was swiping the notification in the bar, the unread badge count would go away. A temporary workaround was Nova Launcher + TeslaUnread but even that stopped working correctly at some point a few months ago.
(here is a link that describes the situation : https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...886468-notifications-unread-badge-counts.html )
So my question is: can someone who tested Android 10 on any other device or beta stages comment whether the behaviour stays the same as on Android 9? Thanks.

The update for October will change the bootloader version to v7. I guess they preparing us for Android 10 . Also there is some info about Note 9, that will get Android 10 January next year.
The guys from PhoneArena already joined the beta and tested the software. You can see what they saying in the video below. I guess Galaxy S9 / S9+ will join the beta next month.

Question Changing emoticons to Google version

Hello,
I spent about an hour with the Samsung S22 Ultra at BestBuy and was trying to change the emoticons on the phone from the Samsung ones to the Google. I have bene a Nexus/Pixel user my entire life and I am very accustomed to the Googlified version of emojis. I was trying to use zfont 3 and it was not working but this could be just because it's a demo phone and they must have some sort of setting in place to prevent tampering and I was not able to reboot the phone.
Is there any way to achieve a emoji switch without a root while preserving the Samsung font/look.
Thanks in advance!
